  • Ternary operators in C#

    - by pm_2
    With the ternary operator, it is possible to do something like the following (assuming Func1() and Func2() return an int: int x = (x == y) ? Func1() : Func2(); However, is there any way to do the same thing, without returning a value? For example, something like (assuming Func1() and Func2() return void): (x == y) ? Func1() : Func2(); I realise this could be accomplished using an if statement, I just wondered if there was a way to do it like this.

  • Strange issue with cout

    - by ben
    After reading from a text file, and storing it into a string, I tried to pass this message into another function that will print it out. This is what it looks like: http://imgur.com/MCjfRdp void insert (int id, string message){ cout << "Inserting " << message << " at" << endl; } Somehow the message behind the string overrides the message. But once I removed the " at" after message, it worked as expected. http://imgur.com/JdHPPmi void insert (int id, string message){ cout << "Inserting " << message << endl; } I somehow suspect the problem came from stringstream, but i couldn't find out where. Here's the code that read from file vector <string> line; fstream infile; string readLine, tempLine, action, tempLine1; int level, no; infile.open(fileName.c_str(),ios::in); int i = 0; while (!infile.eof()) { getline (infile, readLine); line.push_back(readLine); } infile.close(); line.pop_back(); for (int i = 0; i < line.size();i++) { stringstream ss (line.at(i)); getline (ss, action, ' '); if (action == "init") { // some other work here } else if (action == "insert") { tempLine = line.at(i); ss >> no; stringstream iline(tempLine); getline (iline, tempLine1, ' '); getline (iline, tempLine1, ' '); getline (iline, tempLine1, '\n'); Insert (no, tempLine1); } Since my file has different kinds of actions, here is what test.dat contains: insert 0 THIS IS A TEST edit: When i did file.txt, it came out as something like this. Inserting THIS IS A TEST at Inserting THIS IS TEST NO 2 at

  • How do get the view that is the tapped detail-disclosure-button.

    - by Roberta
    The cell in this iPhone TableView definitely has a Detail-Disclosure-Button. When I tap it... shouldn't this code give me access to the button? Instead detailButton is always just null. - (void) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView accessoryButtonTappedForRowWithIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { UITableViewCell *aCell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]; UIButton *detailButton = (UIButton *)[aCell accessoryView]; }

  • Using type passed as a template in C++

    - by MeDiCS
    Is it possible to actually use the type passed as a template for control flow? I'd like to write a function that uses templates, which in turn calls another function based on the type passed: template <class T> void test_function (T var) { //Do stuff if (T == char) { bar (var); } else { foo (var); } //Do even more stuff } If not, I'll have to fallback to enums...

  • Why are interfaces unusable in PHP?

    - by streetparade
    I mean an interface definition without defining the return type makes it unusable? This makes more Clear Interface run { public function getInteger(); } class MyString implements run { public function myNumber() { } public function getInteger() { return "Not a number"; } } In Java every Interface has a return type like Integer,String,Void I know that PHP is unfortunately a loosly typed Language but isnt there a Solution for that Problem? Is it Possible to defining a Interface with a Return type like Integer?

  • this parameter modifier in C#?

    - by Ivan
    I'm curious about this code snippet: public static class XNAExtensions { /// <summary> /// Write a Point /// </summary> public static void Write(this NetOutgoingMessage message, Point value) { message.Write(value.X); message.Write(value.Y); } // ... }; What does the this keyword mean next to the parameter type? I can't seem to find any information about it anywhere, even in the C# specification.

  • How should onClick Listener by defined and instantiated for an Activity

    - by Code Droid
    My Activity has multiple lists so I have defined MyClickListener as below: My question is how I should instantiate this class: MyClickListener mMyClickListener = new MyClickListener(); Or maybe it is better to instantiate inside the onCreate(Bundle) and just define above. Whats considered the better way? I don't want too much in onCreate() its already full of stuff. Any thoughts on the declaration and instatiation? Whats the best way? private class MyClickListener implements OnClickListener { @Override public void onClick(View view) { } }
