  • fedora12, yum not releasing "lock" after performing an action

    Hello, This problem has been occurring quite frequently recently and I can't seem to find a way of preventing it.   • Helicon ISAPI Rewrite is processing Rewrite Rules for httpd.conf but not .htaccess

    We have Helicon ISAPI Rewrite 3 installed on our Windows 2003 Web server. The RewriteRules work fine in the global file located in the httpd.conf file. The server serves several Web sites and we were hoping to create RewriteRules to apply to specific Web sites. In the IIS Properties for each Web site there exists a separate tab for ISAPI_Rewrite pointing to the .htaccess file for that Web site. No rules applied to the .htaccess files work. Any ideas why the .htaaccess files have no effect.

  • OSX telnet not working from localhost

    Telnet from my mac OSx doesn't work while it works from the AWS instances and other networks. I have no local firewalls. Nothing related in /var/log/system In the below transcript, the telnet hangs at "Trying 74.125.136.26..." I have tried many different addresses across multiple domains.. same result !   • BAT file will not run from Task Scheduler but will from Command Line

    I'm trying to run a BAT script from Task Scheduler in Windows 2008 R2 and it runs for 3 seconds and then stops. It says it successfully completes but I know it doesn't. I can run this script from the command line directly, and it runs just fine. The bat file I'm running actually deletes files older than 7 days using "forfiles" then I'm mapping a network drive, moving the files across the network using robocopy, and then closing the network connection. I have taken the network and copy options out of the file and it still does the same thing.   • netsh wlan add profile not importing encrypted passphrase

    I exported a wireless network connection profile from a Windows 7 machine correctly connected to a WiFi network with a WPA-TKIP passphrase. The exported xml file shows the correct settings and a keyMaterial node which I can only guess is the encrypted passphrase. When I take the xml to another Windows 7 computer and import it using netsh wlan add profile filename="WiFi.xml", it correctly adds the profile's SSID and encryption type, but a balloon pops up saying that I need to enter the passphrase. Is there a way to import the passphrase along with all other settings or am I missing something about adding profiles?   • Brightness controls not adjusting the brightness in ubuntu 10.10 64 bit on hp dm3t notebook

    I picked up an hp dm3t laptop with intel HD graphics and installed ubuntu 10.10 64 bit on it. It works great -- the only problem is that the brightness controls don't work. The brightness is always at full. When I try to adjust it down, the indicator graphic indicates that it's going down but the actual brightness doesn't change. Is there anything that I can try to make this work? I'd really appreciate any help.

  • Windows Start Menu Not Staying on Top

    Hey everyone. I've had this problem since Windows Vista. I did a clean install with Windows 7 and hoped it would fix the problem. Also swapped out the video card just to rule out a strange driver issue. Here's what's happening. After running for some period of time (usually a few hours), the Start button/orb will loose it's "Chrome" and turn into a plain button that just says "Start." It will work fine for a while, but then the start menu will just stop showing. Additionally, when I hit Win+D to show the desktop, the entire taskbar completely disappears. I can get it back usually by moving/minimizing windows that may be overlapping where the start menu should show. Otherwise, it requires either a full reboot or I'll end up killing & restarting the explorer.exe process.   • PHP CLI not respecting memory limit in php.ini

    I am using drush, which is a command-line php app to manage a drupal website. I am running a command to import a lot of data, which is causing me to hit php's memory limit. PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted ... Which is 512MB if I'm doing the math correctly (536870912 / 1024 / 1024 = 512). I've changed the directive in the php.ini that drush uses: $> drush status ... PHP configuration : /etc/php5/cli/php.ini $> grep memory /etc/php5/cli/php.ini ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (128MB) ; http://php.net/memory-limit memory_limit = 1024M But I'm still hitting the 512 MB limit! I am running in a virtual machine, whose memory settings I changed from 512 to 1025 MB of RAM to allow drush to run. $> free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 1010 578 431 0 14 392 -/+ buffers/cache: 172 837 Swap: 382 0 382 So it says it has some 431 MB free, now that I've bumped the vm up to 1024. I guess half the memory is being used to run the GUI, but I don't understand how the GUI was running okay when the vm had 512 MB of ram. Why is the PHP cli still hitting a 512 MB memory limit? If it was hitting a system memory limit, shouldn't it die around 431MB, which is what the free command says is available?

  • Cloudmin KVM DNS hostnames not working

    I have got a new server which has Cloudmin installed. It's working well and I can create and manage VM's as expected. The server came with a /29 subnet and I requested an additional /29 subnet to allow for more virtual machines. I didn't want to replace the existing /29 subnet with a /28 because that would have caused disruption with my existing VM's. To make life easier I decided to configure a domain name for the Cloudmin host server to allow for automatic hostname setup whenever I create a new virtual machine. I have a domain name (example.com) and I have created an NS record as follows: NS kvm.example.com 123.123.123.123 A kvm.example.com 123.123.123.123 In the above example the IP address is that of the host server, I also have two /29 subnets routed to the server. Now, I've added the two subnets to the Cloudmin administration panel as follows: I've tried to hide as little information as possible without giving all of the server details away! If I ping kvm.example.com I get a response from 123.123.123.123, if I ping the newly created virtual machine (example.kvm.example.com) it fails, and if I ping the IP address that's been assigned to the new virtual machine (from the second subnet) it fails. Am I missing anything vital? Does this look (from what little information I can show) like it's setup correctly? Any help/pointers would be appreciated.     My first question on here on SF so please forgive me if I manage to bork the post. :) Anyways, I'm using mod_rewrite on one of my machines with a simple rule that redirects to a webapp on another machine. I'm also setting the header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' on both machines. The problem is that when I hit the rewrite rule, I loose the 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header setting.     I'm trying to use nscd (Nameservices Cache Daemon) to cache dns locally so I can stop using bind to do it. I've gotten it started and ntpd seems to attempt to use it. But everything else for hosts seems to ignore it. e.g if I do dig apache.org 3 times none of them will hit the cache. I'm viewing the cache stats using nscd -g to determine whether it's been used.     I have a multiboot usb with System Rescue CD and GRUB2 on it. When I try to boot it, it tries to find systemrescuecd/sysrcd.dat, attempts to mount /dev/sr0 and all the partitions on /dev/sda before declaring cannot find systemrescuecd/sysrcd.dat on devices and dumping me onto a primitive shell. The relevant entries in grub.cfg: menuentry "SystemRescueCd 32bit" { linux /systemrescuecd/isolinux/rescuecd rootfs=/systemrescuecd subdir=systemrescuecd dostartx setkmap=us initrd /systemrescuecd/isolinux/initram.igz } menuentry "SystemRescueCd 64bit" { linux /systemrescuecd/isolinux/rescue64 rootfs=/systemrescuecd subdir=systemrescuecd dostartx setkmap=us initrd /systemrescuecd/isolinux/initram.igz } I think the problem is that System Rescue CD cannot see /dev/sdb, which is my usb, but I don't know where to begin to fix it. If it helps, I set up my USB with a utility called MultiSystem, which is like MultiISO for Linux.

    Hi everyone, I am having trouble burning DVD+R disc's. My OS is vista and i have used this burner and these same discs in the past. I haven't had the need to do so in months and now that i come back to create some backups my DVD/RW drive doesn't recognize a brand new DVD+R disc. These disc are the same ones i have used in the past(Same Pack even). Anyone have any idea what this might be. Maybe a vista upgrade or something that i downloaded in the last few months that could have thrown something off? Thanks in advance.

  • Wifi not working after a few minutes

    I'm using a few MacBooks and iPads connected to a router via WiFi. The problem is that a few minutes after they connect via WiFi the connection stops working. This happens on all devices. I went into the router settings by connecting via cable and everything seems in order. Connecting a laptop via cable to the router I can use internet as normal, the problem is only with WiFi.     I recently downloaded OpenSUSE OS version 11.4 from the site to use it as a server..In order to do that I downloaded the server edition that has Apache/2.2.17 and PHP5 downloaded by default.....Ok till now it is fine Now I started the Apache successfully and put a test.php file in the documentRoot directory. test.php contain only <?php phpinfo() ?> Then using my browser I typed http://localhost/test.php and here was the problem the browser didn't display what phpinfo() should display, instead it asked me whether I want to open or save test.php...which is driving me crazy....   • inetd / xinetd not working under cygwin

    I am trying to use xinetd (or inetd) with netcat to act as a TCP proxy. This setup works on Linux without issue. Under Cygwin, either as a service or from the a Cygwin command line, the (x)inetd fails to open netcat, with the error "no such file or directory". I have tried specifying /usr/bin/nc, /usr/bin/nc.exe, /cygdrive/d/cygwin/usr/bin/nc.exe, d:\cygwin\bin\nc.exe, and a TON of other combinations of forward flashes, backslashes, Windows paths and Cygwin paths. No matter what, I get errno 2, no such file or dir. Any ideas? I need this working ASAP. Edit: I thought it may have to do with it being in d:\cygwin (lame hardcoding?) but I tested it on a machine with cygwin on C:\, problem exists there too.

  • Zabbix Proxy not collecting data

    I have a working Zabbix 1.8.2 server collecting data for our office and our colo facility. However the link between the colo and office is flaky. What I'm trying to do is setup a proxy on the colo side to have a 1 hour cache and relay the data to our primary server at the office. Our zabbix server is compiled from source and uses a mysql database I've followed the instructions found in the zabbix documentation to compile the proxy using a sqlite3 database. I add the proxy to zabbix under Administration-DM-Proxies. The zabbix server "sees" the proxy because the "last seen" field is always under 60s. However when I assign a colo host to the proxy I stop receiving data from it. The colo host's zabbix_agentd.log file says this: 29343:20100622:124847 Timeout while answering request 29343:20100622:124847 Getting list of active checks failed. Will retry after 60 seconds The zabbix_proxy.log says this. 2041:20100622:123131.760 Deleted 0 records from history [0.000994 seconds] 2028:20100622:124131.671 Error while receiving answer from server [ZBX_TCP_READ() failed I also am unable to receive any SNMP data which is more important to me than the zabbix agent data. Has anyone had this problem before? Zabbix Server OS: CentOS5.4 Zabbix Server Build: 1.8.2 from source Zabbix Proxy OS: CentOS5.4 Zabbix Proxy Build: 1.8.2 from source P.S. The SQLite database on the zabbix proxy never gets any data written to it, it is identical to when I created it from the blank schema in zabbix-1.8.2/create/schema.     I'm working with Ubuntu 12.04, using OpenLDAP server. I've followed the instructions on the Ubuntu help pages and can happily connect without security. To test my connection, I'm using ldapsearch the command looks like: ldapsearch -xv -H ldap://ldap.[my host].local -b dc=[my domain],dc=local -d8 -ZZ I've also used: ldapsearch -xv -H ldaps://ldap.[my host].local -b dc=[my domain],dc=local -d8 As far as I can tell, I've setup my certificate correctly, but no matter why I try, I can't seem to get ldapsearch to accept my self-signed certificate. So far, I've tried: Updating my /etc/ldap/ldap.conf file to look like: BASE dc=[my domain],dc=local URI ldaps://ldap.[my host].local TLS_CACERT /etc/ssl/certs/cacert.crt TLS_REQCERT allow Updating my /etc/ldap.conf file to look like: base dc=[my domain],dc=local uri ldapi:///ldap.[my host].local uri ldaps:///ldap.[my host].local ldap_version 3 ssl start_tls ssl on tls_checkpeer no TLS_REQCERT allow Updating my /etc/default/slapd to include: SLAPD_SERVICES="ldap:/// ldapi:/// ldaps:///" Several hours of Googling, most of which resulted in adding the TLS_REQCERT allow The exact error I'm seeing is: ldap_initialize( ldap://ldap.[my host].local ) request done: ld 0x20038710 msgid 1 TLS certificate verification: Error, self signed certificate in certificate chain TLS: can't connect. ldap_start_tls: Connect error (-11) additional info: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed After several hours of this, I was hoping someone else has seen this issue, and/or knows how to fix it.     I run asp.net on mono. I wanted to run blogengine: http://www.dotnetblogengine.net/ I downloaded, put it in /var/www/blogengine, on the console went to /var/www/blogengine and started xsp2. I went to http://localhost:8080, and it ran without problems. Then I stopped xsp2, went to /var/www and started xsp2. I went to http://localhost:8080/blogengine It ended with a strange error: The section <blogProvider> can't be defined in this configuration file (the allowed definition context is 'MachineToApplication'). (/var/www/blogengine/Web.Config line 9) The problem seems to be that it stops working as soon as the xsp2 root folder is anything else than the application root folder... Do I have to config anything ? Or what else is wrong ?

So set the ulimit in a linux box with spec Linux x86_64 GNU/Linux in both of the following fashions ulimit -n 1000000 /etc/security/limits.conf userx soft nofile 1000000 userx hard nofile 1000000 Given userx is the user through which the jenkins job is being executed. when doing ssh to the box as userx manually through terminal and check ulimit -n am getting 10000000 Question But when executing the same ulimit -n through a jenkins job, only getting 1024 which is the default. Any advice would be much helpful?

My problem is that my tasks don't appear in the Task folder, or anywhere else for that matter. Even if I search for a the title of a task I've recently found I still can't find them. After some Googling I found this forum thread that suggests it may be a problem with the Outlook database, which points to a Microsoft KB. So I went through all of the recommended steps on rebuilding/ adding a new identity using the "Microsoft Database Utility" - the theory being that if I create a new identity I can test the task creation using a "blank slate" identity. When I change the default identity to my newly created identity using the Microsoft Database Utility (have to restart the computer) Task creation still doesn't work. Any ideas appreciated, I really miss the task functionality in Outlook 2010 for Windows.

  • MacBook Pro with Time Capsule can not see Samsung CLX 3175FW wireless printer on Bonjour

    I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6 and another MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5. Neither see my Samsung printer when I click on Bonjour. Needless to say neither will print. I have a Time Capsule connected wirelessly to my MacBook Pros. I have tried reinstalling drivers for the printer but nothing seems to work. I tried this approach because when Apple replaced my Time Capsule and I went to print the way I had initially been running printing requests would get hung up. Any suggestions would be helpful?

  • vlan change via scvmm not working

    Hi i have a windows 2008 R2 hyper-v server which is managed via scvmm 2008 R2. the guest os running on the hyper-v server is winxp with sp3. if i change the vlan id via scvmm the guest doesn't get an ip via dhcp i looked in the properties of the vm with the hyper-v mmc an see the vlan changed correctly but no ip connectivity either static or dhcp a reboot of the guest os didn't help if i change the vlan id via hyper-v mmc the guest gets an ip via dhcp scvmm seams to forget something after the vlan change has anyone a clue how to resolve this ? thx
