  • Java IDE - find all INDIRECT usages/references of a function or class?

    In Netbeans or in Eclipse, you can use "Find Usages" or "References" from the right click context menu. If a() calls b(), using the functionality from b() will show you a(). However, what I want is to be able to see some kind of tree or have an option to see all usages of a given/class or method, such that if z() calls a() that using the functionality will show both z() and a(). Any IDE plugins or external tools that can do this?

The first part with the creating and putting the ArrayList into the txt file works perfectly. I just need some help at the end in the "marked" area.   • Can anyone help with java? Finding common nodes from two linked lists using recursion

    I have to write a method that returns a linked list with all the nodes that are common to two linked lists using recursion, without loops. For example, first list is 2 - 5 - 7 - 10 second list is 2 - 4 - 8 - 10 the list that would be returned is 2 - 10 I am getting nowhere with this.. What I have been think of was to check each value of the first list with each value of the second list recursively but the second list would then be cut by one node everytime and I cannot compare the next value in the first list with the the second list. I hope this makes sense... Can anyone help?

    currently recursion is fresh & difficult topic for me, however I need to use it in one of my algorithms. Here is the challenge: I need a method where I specify number of recursions (number of nested FOR loops) and number of iterations for each FOR loop. The result should show me, something simmilar to counter, however each column of counter is limited to specific number.   • Java CRTP: Works for container but not for methods?

    I have a baseclass with a protected static ArrayList. I want to have a seperate ArrayList for each kind of subclass that extends this baseclass. This is when I applied CRTP: public class BaseExample<T> { protected static ArrayList<Integer> data = new ArrayList<Integer>(); } This works just fine. However, when I try to implement the following static method in the same base class, it doesn't adhere to CRTP: public static void clear() { data.clear(); } For example: class SubExample extends BaseExample<SubExample> { // insertion methods accessing 'data' field // these work fine :) } SubExample.clear(); // does not seem to clear data container Do I need to somehow explicitly specify T in my baseclass clear method? Note: These are all pure static classes.

    Perhap this is a simple basic question Having an enum public enum TK{ ID,GROUP,DATA,FAIL; } Can I get the order number for example ID=0, GROUP=2, DATA=3, FAIL=4 ?     My project allows users to create custom css for our flex app. In regards to compiling the CSS into SWFs on the server side: Should I use the flex2.compiler.css.Compiler class in mxmlc-3.5.0.12683.jar? Or Should I invoke mxmlc from Runtime.getRuntime().exec()? The css.Compiler class is not very well documented. Does anyone have any examples that use this? For the Runtime exec method, what is the best way to package mxmlc into the maven build so its available to the server at runtime?

Here's the kind of method I want to have: public int countSteps(char horizontal, char vertical) { } Two parameters horizontal and vertical can be either + or - to indicate the four directions to walk in. What I want to see if possible at all is i++; is generalized to i horizontal horizontal; when horizontal taking the value of +. What I don't want to see is if or switch statements, for example: public int countSteps(char horizontal, char vertical) { if (horizontal == '+' && vertical == '-') { for (int i=row-1,j=col+1;i>=0 && j<=numCols;i--,j++) { if (b[i][j]==charAtPosition) { topright++; } else { break; } } } else if (horizontal == '+' && vertical == '+') { for (int i=row+1,j=col+1;i>=0 && j<=numCols;i++,j++) { if (b[i][j]==charAtPosition) { topright++; } else { break; } } } else if () { } else { } } Since it is as tedious as the original one. Note also that the comparing signs for the loop condition i>=0 && j<=numCols; for example, >= && <= have correspondence with the value combination of horizontal and vertical. Sorry for my bad wording, please let me know if anything is not clear.
