  • typedef declaration syntax

    - by mt_serg
    Some days ago I looked at boost sources and found interesting typedef. There is a code from "boost\detail\none_t.hpp": namespace boost { namespace detail { struct none_helper{}; typedef int none_helper::*none_t ; } // namespace detail } // namespace boost I didn't see syntax like that earlier and can't explain the sense of that. This typedef introduces name "none_t" as pointer to int in boost::detail namespace. What the syntax is? And what difference between "typedef int none_helper::*none_t" and for example "typedef int *none_t" ?

  • SSL_CTX_set_cert_verify_callback vs. SSL_CTX_set_verify

    - by BreakPoint
    Hello, Can anyone tell me what is the difference between SSL_CTX_set_cert_verify_callback and SSL_CTX_set_verify? From OpenSSL docs: SSL_CTX_set_cert_verify_callback() sets the verification callback function for ctx. SSL objects that are created from ctx inherit the setting valid at the time when SSL_new(3) is called. and: SSL_CTX_set_verify() sets the verification flags for ctx to be mode and specifies the verify_callback function to be used. If no callback function shall be specified, the NULL pointer can be used for verify_callback. So I'm trying to understand which callback to send for each one (from client side). Thanks experts.

  • Send copy of class to view class so it can render him? ( iPhone )

    - by Johannes Jensen
    I'm making a game for the iPhone, and I have a class called Robot. Then I have a class called View, which renders everything. I want to send a copy of my Robot, which I defined in my ViewController, and I send it to gameView (which is View *gameView), like this: robot = [Robot new]; [gameView setRobot: [robot copy]]; I tried to make a copy but that didn't work, I could also do it with a pointer to Robot (&robot) but sometimes it just crashes ? I tried this in my View.h @interface definition: @property (copy) Robot* robot; but I get the error /RobotsAdventure/Classes/View.h:24: error: setter '-robot' argument type does not match property type :/ Help? I'm pretty new at this, heh.

  • Performing time consuming operation on STL container within a lock

    - by Ashley
    I have an unordered_map of an unordered_map which stores a pointer of objects. The unordered map is being shared by multiple threads. I need to iterate through each object and perform some time consuming operation (like sending it through network etc) . How could I lock the multiple unordered_map so that it won't blocked for too long? typedef std::unordered_map<string, classA*>MAP1; typedef std::unordered_map<int, MAP1*>MAP2; MAP2 map2; pthread_mutex_lock(&mutexA) //how could I lock the maps? Could I reduce the lock granularity? for(MAP2::iterator it2 = map2.begin; it2 != map2.end; it2++) { for(MAP1::iterator it1 = *(it2->second).begin(); it1 != *(it2->second).end(); it1++) { //perform some time consuming operation on it1->second eg sendToNetwork(*(it1->second)); } } pthread_mutex_unlock(&mutexA)

  • Dynamic binary from file

    - by Aurel300
    This is a little bit of weird problem here. Say I have a C++ code, running on a specific platform. The only purpose of this code is to run files containing binary, NATIVE to that platform. Now - my question is - HOW would I get the data from these files (could even be by bits, like 1024 bits a cycle) to the memory of machine running my code so that this data would be in the execution part? In other words, can I get the data to somewhere where I can point the instruction pointer? If yes, how? I don't mind if I have to use assembler for this - just so it would work.

  • Resources for memory management in embedded application

    - by Elazar Leibovich
    How should I manage memory in my mission critical embedded application? I found some articles with google, but couldn't pinpoint a really useful practical guide. The DO-178b forbids dynamic memory allocations, but how will you manage the memory than? preallocate everything in advance and send a pointer to each function that needs allocation? Allocate it on the stack? Use a global static allocator (but then it's very similar to dynamic allocation)? Answers can be of the form of regular answer, reference to a resource, or reference to good opensource embedded system for example. clarification: The issue here is not whether or not memory management is availible for the embedded system. But what is a good design for an embedded system, to maximize reliability.

  • menuitem id in xml format can't be an integer? huh. really?

    - by misbell
    ok, in menu.add, you add an integer menuitem id. But when you specify the menu in xml, @+id can't take an integer, so you can't test the id for the menu item as an integer in a switch statement. What obvious thing am I missing, because surely an inconsistency this bone-stupid couldn't have passed muster with all those wonderful geniuses at Google. on top of that, when I give the menu item a name like "@+id/myMenuItem", item.getItemId() returns an integer, a long one, which I guess is a representation of the hex pointer. • Store address dynamic array in c

    - by user280642
    I'm trying to save the address of a dynamic array index. struct sstor *dlist; struct node *q; q->item = &(dlist->item[(dlist->sz)-1]); // Problem? This is my node struct node { char **item; struct node *next; struct node *prev; }; This is my array struct sstor { int sz; int maxsz; char item[][1024]; }; I'm still new to pointers. The line below gives the error: assignment from incompatible pointer type q->item = &(dlist->item[(dlist->sz)-1]);

  • Why doesn't Perl threading work when I call readdir beforehand?

    - by Kevin
    Whenever I call readdir before I create a thread, I get an error that looks like this: perl(2820,0x7fff70c33ca0) malloc: * error for object 0x10082e600: pointer being freed was not allocated * set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug Abort trap What's strange is that it happens when I call readdir before I create a thread (i.e. readdir is not called in any concurrent code). I don't even use the results from readdir, just making the call to it seems to screw things up. When I get rid of it, things seem to work fine. Some example code is below: opendir(DIR, $someDir); my @allFiles = readdir(DIR); close(DIR); my $thread = threads-create(\&sub1); $thread-join(); sub sub1 { print "in thread\n" }

  • How to change input button image using CSS?

    - by Baltimark
    So, I can create an input button with an image using <INPUT type="image" src="/images/Btn.PNG" value=""> But, I can't get the same behavior using CSS. for instance, i've tried <INPUT type="image" class="myButton" value=""> where "myButton" is defined in the css file as .myButton{ background:url(/images/Btn.PNG) no-repeat; cursor:pointer; width: 200px; height: 100px; border: none; } If that's all I wanted to do, I could use the original style, but I want to change the button's appearance on hover (using a myButton:hover class). I know the links are good because I've been able to load them for a background image for other parts of the page (just as a check). I found examples on the web of how to do it using javascript, but I'm looking for a css solution. I'm using Firefox 3.0.3 if that makes a difference. Thanks

  • Multithreading with STL container

    - by Steven
    I have an unordered map which stores a pointer of objects. I am not sure whether I am doing the correct thing to maintain the thread safety. typedef std::unordered_map<string, classA*>MAP1; MAP1 map1; pthread_mutex_lock(&mutexA) if(map1.find(id) != map1.end()) { pthread_mutex_unlock(&mutexA); //already exist, not adding items } else { classA* obj1 = new classA; map1[id] = obj1; obj1->obtainMutex(); //Should I create a mutex for each object so that I could obtain mutex when I am going to update fields for obj1? pthread_mutex_unlock(&mutexA); //release mutex for unordered_map so that other threads could access other object obj1->field1 = 1; performOperation(obj1); //takes some time obj1->releaseMutex(); //release mutex after updating obj1 }

  • Unexpected key-value behavior in a Core Data Context

    - by ????
    If I create an array of strings (via key-value coding) containing the names of a Managed Object entity's attributes which are stored in the App Delegate the first time, I get an array of NSStrings without any problems. If I subsequently make the same call later from the same entry point in code, that same collection becomes an array of NULL objects- even though nothing in the Core Data Context has changed. One unappealing work-around involves re-creating the string array every time, but I'm wondering if anyone has a guess as to what's happening behind the scenes. // Return an array of strings with the names of attributes the Activity entity - (NSArray *)activityAttributeNames { #pragma mark ALWAYS REFRESH THE ENTITY NAMES? //if (activityAttributeNames == nil) { // Create an entity pointer for Activity NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Activity" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; NSArray *entityAttributeArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithArray:[[entity attributesByName] allValues]]; // Extract the names of the attributes with Key-Value Coding activityAttributeNames = [entityAttributeArray valueForKeyPath:@"name"]; [entityAttributeArray release]; //} return activityAttributeNames; }

  • Are raw C++ pointers first class objects?

    - by Shailesh Kumar
    According to Wikipedia: An object is first-class when it: can be stored in variables and data structures can be passed as a parameter to a subroutine can be returned as the result of a subroutine can be constructed at runtime has intrinsic identity (independent of any given name) Somebody had once told me that raw pointers are not first class objects while smart pointers like std::auto_ptr are. But to me, a raw pointer (to an object or to a function) in C++ does seem to me to satisfy the conditions stated above to qualify as a first class object. Am I missing something?

  • Openning an App on click of link in email in android?

    - by Amit
    I have a strange requirement for my project.. Suppose I have an app say XYZ installed in an android phone and than I receive an email from the mail server which contains a link like http://XYZ.com/?params(i.e. X=1&Y=2&Z=3) now on click of this link I want to open the XYZ app if it is installed in the phone and in the Activity I would like to get these parameters X,Y and Z and if the app is not installed user should be redirected to play store for downloading XYZ app and after installation app takes charge and behaves as if it was already installed (Opening the first activity with those parameters). How can I achieve that ? I have no idea where to start so even the smallest pointer in right direction will be of great help.

  • SWIG-Lua question on class returning another class

    - by John Smith
    I am concreting a question I had earlier. I have two classes in C++ and I use SWIG to wrap them. A method in one class can return a pointer to the other class. How can I get Lua to see it as more than just a userdata? More concretely: I have class fruit { int numberofseeds; //some other stuff about fruit constructors etc... public: getseedcount() { return numberofseeds; } } class tree { fruit * apple; public: //constructors and whatnot fruit * getfruit() { return apple; } } I wrap these two class with SWIG so I can access them in Lua So I can get in Lua the object x=pomona.tree(grannysmith). My question now is: How can I arrange for things so that when I type y=x:getfruit() I will get a pomona:fruit type object? Where I can write something line y:getseedcount()? At the moment all I get is userdata which not edible.

  • Can I use memcpy in C++ to copy classes that have no pointers or virtual functions

    - by Shane MacLaughlin
    Say I have a class, something like the following; class MyClass { public: MyClass(); int a,b,c; double x,y,z; }; #define PageSize 1000000 MyClass Array1[PageSize],Array2[PageSize]; If my class has not pointers or virtual methods, is it safe to use the following? memcpy(Array1,Array2,PageSize*sizeof(MyClass)); The reason I ask, is that I'm dealing with very large collections of paged data, as decribed here, where performance is critical, and memcpy offers significant performance advantages over iterative assignment. I suspect it should be ok, as the 'this' pointer is an implicit parameter rather than anything stored, but are there any other hidden nasties I should be aware of?
