  • Java (Tomcat): how to configure a cookieless subdomain to serve static content

    One of the tip given by both Google and Yahoo! to speed up webpages loading is to configure a cookieless subdomain to server static content. How do you configure a "cookieless subdomain" using Tomcat in standalone mode (this question is not about how to use Apache to serve static content in a cookieless-way, but about how to do it in Tomcat-standalone mode)? Note that I don't care about filters supporting If-Modified-Since nor care about filters supporting gzipping: the static content I'm serving is forever cacheable (or its name will change) and it is already compressed data (so gzip would only slow down the transfer). Do I need two different Tomcat webapps? (one "cookiefull" and one "cookieless") Do I need two different servlets? (as of now I've got only one dispatcher/controller servlet). Why would a "regular" link to, say, a static image be called in a cookiefull way when it would be on the same domain as the main webapp and then be called in a "cookie-less" way when it is on a subdomain? I don't understand exactly what is going on: is it the browser that decides to append or not cookies to the query? If so, why would it not append the cookies to a static query on a "cookieless" subdomain. Any example as to what is going on behind the scene is most welcome :)

  • Easiest way to generate P/Invoke code?

    I am an experienced .Net programer, but have not compiled a C/C++ program in my life. Now I have this C-dll, headers and documentation (3rd party, not from Win API), from which I need to call about ten methods. I was thinking of using Platform Invoke. I found these three tools that would create the code for me: PInvoker: http://www.pinvoker.com P/Invoke Interop Assistant: http://www.codeplex.com/clrinterop P/Invoke Wizard: http://www.paulyao.com/res/pinvoke/pinvoke.aspx and possibly Swig: http://www.swig.org/ Pinvoker seems to have a bit different approach than the Interop assistant and the Wizard. Swig I just found when checking that this question has not been asked here. What are the pros and cons of these tools? What would be the best = easiest and safest way for me to produce the P/Invoke code given that I don't know much about C/C++?

    I am wondering whether there exists any declarative language for arbitrarily describing the format and semantics of a data structure, that can be compiled to a specific implementation of that structure in any of a set of target languages. That is, something like a generic data definition language but geared toward describing arbitrary data structures such as vectors, lists, trees, etc., and the semantics of operations on those structures. I ask because I had an idea for a feasible implementation of this concept, and I'm just wondering whether it's worth it, and, consequently, whether it's been done before. Another, slightly more abstract question: is there any real difference between the normative specification of a data structure (what it does) and its implementation (how it does it)?

  • Ant build.xml requires user input, but Eclipse has no tty

    I'm trying to better integrate Eclipse with my build.xml. My build file calls GNU Make for the native portion of the program, and the Makefile uses sudo to movethe compiled libs into system path. Unfortunately that requires entering a password, and Eclipse's terminal doesn't accept user input. So the result from running the build in eclipse is: [exec] sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified [exec] make: *** [install] Error 1 Any way around this problem? Can the ant build be elevated to root some other way?

  • Why is my Lucene index getting locked?

    I had an issue with my search not return the results I expect. I tried to run Luke on my index, but it said it was locked and I needed to Force Unlock it (I'm not a Jedi/Sith though) I tried to delete the index folder and run my recreate-indicies application but the folder was locked. Using unlocker I've found that there are about 100 entries of w3wp.exe (same PID, different Handle) with a lock on the index. Whats going on?     How can I get the CLSID for a given interface within a Primary Interop Assembly? Here's what I'm talking about: // The c# compiler does some interesting magic. // The following code ... var app = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application(); // ... is compiled like so (disassembled with Reflector): var app =((Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application) Activator.CreateInstance(Type.GetTypeFromCLSID(new Guid("0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046")))); Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application is an interface, and therefore it cannot be instantiated directly. What's interesting here is that c# lets you treat these COM interfaces as if there where classes that you can instantiate with the new keyword. What I want to know is, given the System.Type for a given interface, how can I get the CLSID? Note: I ultimately want to be able to create an instance given the interface's System.Type - I don't really care how. I'm assuming here that the easiest way to do this would be to get CLSID given the Type, just as the c# compiler does.

    In my View (using Zend_View so the the view is an object), I make calls to object properties and methods to populate the template like so: <?= $this->user->name ?> // Outputs John Doe <br/> <?= $this->user->getCompany()->name ?> // Outputs Acme <br/> <?= $this->method() ?> // Outputs foobar If I make it so that all property requests (like for 'user') go through __get() is there any way that I can catch the subsequent calls so that I can force a method call on the final outputted value? For example so that I could do automatic escaping of output. As I see it right now, I either have to escape the input as it goes into the database or use compiled templates like Smarty does, or switch to assigning every variable to the View object so that it has direct control to force escaping before outputting the data.

  • How do I escape a LIKE clause using NHibernate Criteria?

    The code we're using is straight-forward in this part of the search query: myCriteria.Add( Expression.InsensitiveLike("Code", itemCode, MatchMode.Anywhere)); and this works fine in a production environment. The issue is that one of our clients has item codes that contain % symbols which this query needs to match. The resulting SQL output from this code is similar to: SELECT ... FROM ItemCodes WHERE ... AND Code LIKE '%ItemWith%Symbol%' which clearly explains why they're getting some odd results in item searches. Is there a way to enable escaping using the programmatic Criteria methods? Addendum: We're using a slightly old version of NHibernate, 2.1.0.4000 (current as of writing is 2.1.2.4853), but I checked the release notes, and there was no mention of a fix for this. I didn't find any open issue in their bugtracker either. We're using SQL Server, so I can escape the special characters (%, _, [, and ^) in code really easily, but the point of us using NHibernate was to make our application database-engine-independent as much as possible. Neither Restrictions.InsensitiveLike() nor HqlQueryUtil.GetLikeExpr() escape their inputs, and removing the MatchMode parameter makes no difference as far as escaping goes.

  • PHP, MySQL Per row output

    Been all over the place and spent 8 hours working loops and math...still cant get it... I am writing a CP for a customer. The input form will allow them to add a package deal to their web page. Each package deal is stored in mysql in the following format id header item1 item2 item3...item12 price savings The output is a table with 'header' being the name of the package and each item being 1 of the items in the package stored in a row within the table, then the price and amount saved (all of this is input via a form and INSERT statement by the customer, that part works) stored rows as well. Here is my PHP: include 'dbconnect.php'; $query = "SELECT * FROM md "; $result = mysql_query($query); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { //Print 4 tables with header, items, price, savings //Go to next row (on main page) and print 4 more items //Do this until all tables have been printed } mysql_free_result($result); mysql_close($conn); ? Right now the main page is simpley a header div, main div, content wrap and footer div. Ideal HTML output of a 'package' table, not perfect and a little confusing $header $item1 $item2 ect... $price$savings I basically want the PHP to print this 4 times per row on the main page and then move to the next row and print 4 times and continue until there are no more items in the array. So it could be row 1 4 tables, row 2 4 tables, row 3 3 tables. Long, confusing and frustrating. I about to just do 1 item per row..please help Jake

  • PECL install fails

    Hey! I have browsed every Google result, read all the forum posts about this error, but I cannot solve it. When using PECL install for anything, I always end up getting this error: checking whether the C compiler works... configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs. Everything else succeeds up to that point them bam! I'm using CentOS 4.3, PEAR is the latest stable version, GCC is a stable and recent version. Everything is working as it should, but the C compiler always seems to error. I've tried to make tmp have the right privilages for the operation by temporarily enabling it using: mount -o remount,exec,suid /tmp But that doesn't work. I've literally tried everything that has been suggested by to no avail. Any ideas?

  • Generating new sources via Maven plugin after compile phase

    I have a Maven project within which I need execute two code generation steps. One generates some Java types, then the second depends on those Java types to generate some more code. Is there a way to have both of these steps happening during my build? At the moment my steps are: execute first code generation plugin (during generate-sources) add directory of generated types to build path execute second code generation plugin (during compile) However my problem is that anything generated by the second code generation plugin will not be compiled (because the compile phase has finished). If I attach the second code generation plugin to an earlier phase, it fails because it needs the classes from the first code generation plugin to be present on the classpath. I know I could split this into two modules with one dependent on the other, but I was wondering if this could be achieved in one pom. It seems like a need a way to invoke compile again after the normal compile phase is complete. Any ideas?

    i am new to webservices, I have created a basic stockmarket webservice, I have successfully created the server script for it and placed it in my server, Now I also creted a clent script and accessed it hruogh the same server.. Is it valid ? can boh files be accesed from the same server? or do I have to place them in different servers? If yes Then Y? If No then why do i get the blank page? I am using nusoap library for webservice.   • Querying a self referencing join with NHibernate Linq

    In my application I have a Category domain object. Category has a property Parent (of type category). So in my NHibernate mapping I have: <many-to-one name="Parent" column="ParentID"/> Before I switched to NHibernate I had the ParentId property on my domain model (mapped to the corresponding database column). This made it easy to query for say all top level categories (ParentID = 0): where(c => c.ParentId == 0) However, I have since removed the ParentId property from my domain model (because of NHibernate) so I now have to do the same query (using NHibernate.Linq) like so: public IList<Category> GetCategories(int parentId) { if (parentId == 0) return _catalogRepository.Categories.Where(x => x.Parent == null).ToList(); else return _catalogRepository.Categories.Where(x => x.Parent.Id == parentId).ToList(); } The real impact that I can see, is the sql generated. Instead of a simple 'select x,y,z from categories where parentid = 0' NHibernate generates a left outer join: SELECT this_.CategoryId as CategoryId4_1_, this_.ParentID as ParentID4_1_, this_.Name as Name4_1_, this_.Slug as Slug4_1_, parent1_.CategoryId as CategoryId4_0_, parent1_.ParentID as ParentID4_0_, parent1_.Name as Name4_0_, parent1_.Slug as Slug4_0_ FROM Categories this_ left outer join Categories parent1_ on this_.ParentID = parent1_.CategoryId WHERE this_.ParentID is null Which doesn't seems much less efficient that what I had before. Is there a better way of querying these self referencing joins as it's very tempting to drop the ParentID back onto my domain model for this reason. Thanks, Ben

    For this question, we want to avoid having to write a special query since the query would have to be different across multiple databases. Using only hibernate criteria, we want to be able to escape special characters. This situation is the reason for needing the ability to escape special characters: Assume that we have table 'foo' in the database. Table 'foo' contains only 1 field, called 'name'. The 'name' field can contain characters that may be considered special in a database. Two examples of such a name are 'name_1' and 'name%1'. Both the '_' and '%' are special characters, at least in Oracle. If a user wants to search for one of these examples after they are entered in the database, problems may occur. criterion = Restrictions.ilike("name", searchValue, MatchMode.ANYWHERE); return findByCriteria(null, criterion); In this code, 'searchValue' is the value that the user has given the application to use for its search. If the user wants to search for '%', the user is going to be returned with every 'foo' entry in the database. This is because the '%' character represents the "any number of characters" wildcard for string matching and the SQL code that hibernate produces will look like: select * from foo where name like '%' Is there a way to tell hibernate to escape certain characters, or to create a workaround that is not database type sepecific?

  • Why is Visual Studio 2008 stuck in debug mode when compiling

    I have a .NET project that for some reason gets stuck in debug mode. I've changed the compile mode from debug to release in the toolbar, but my project ends up in the debug directory anyway. Seems like VS is not updating the SLN file or something. Please help! The reason I am asking about this is because it seems that there are weak references "ENCList" clogging up memory when my program runs, and they seem to be created when .NET apps are compiled in debug (or so says other sources I've found online). -Mark

    Today I've tried C compiler (Clang) for C code I use in my haskell library and found that I can gain speed increase in comparsing with my system compiler (GCC 4.4.3) from 426.404 Gbit/s to 0.823 Tbit/s So I decided to add some flags to control the way that C source file is compiled (i.e. something like use-clang, use-intel etc.). Snippet of cabal package description file: C-Sources: c_lib/tiger.c Include-Dirs: c_lib Install-Includes: tiger.h if flag(debug) GHC-Options: -debug -Wall -fno-warn-orphans CPP-Options: -DDEBUG CC-Options: -DDEBUG -g else GHC-Options: -Wall -fno-warn-orphans Question is: which options in descritpion file need to be modified to change C compiler used to compile "c_lib/tiger.c"? I did found only CC-Options.

  • Facebook events api: Event member (FQL)

    I am fetching the event members for facebook events. Till yesterday I was getting the proper counts of members of an event. But suddenly the counts have following issues: For lot of plans on every consecutive request, I am getting random number of members. Strange issue. Seems facebook servers are not synced properly or something similar. Earlier for the same query string (mentioned below), I was getting the correct counts. But now the count is much less. It seems that at least for a few events now they are sending only the members who are connected with our application (we are using facebook connect). Example: for the following query currently I am getting "31" members. But on event page members count is much more.     I have the following Solution: SomeProject.Ria (non Silverlight code) SomeProject.Ria.Silverlight (Silverlight light code, namespace is still SomeProject.Ria) SomeProject.Ria.MyServices (RIA Services Domain Service) SomeProject.Ria.MyServices.Proxies (RIA Services Silverlight Generated Code) SomeProject.Shell (Silverlight Applicaiton) SomeProject.Web (Web Application) I would like to use Resource Files for my Annotations on the meta data class in SomeProject.Ria.MyServices. The format for that appears to be: [Required(AllowEmptyStrings=false,ErrorMessageResourceName="ThisFieldIsRequired", ErrorMessageResourceType(MyResource))] Which project does MyResource belong in? (Assuming that someday I need to support other culture files). Also the use of the string in here really seems to breed room for error, is it possible to do something like this and still achieve localization, or does this just get compiled into the meta data? If not, how can I get round the resource name being a string? [Required(AllowEmptyStrings=false,ErrorMessage=MyResources.RequiredMessage)]
