• SOAP call with query on result (SSRS, Sharepoint)

  Hi! I created a report in VS using a shared data source which is connected to a sharepoint list. In the report I created a dataset with a SOAP call to the data source so I get the result from the sharepoint list in a table. this is the soap call <Query> <SoapAction>http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetListItems</SoapAction> <Method Namespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/" Name="GetListItems"> <Parameters> <Parameter Name="listName"> <DefaultValue>{BD8D39B7-FA0B-491D-AC6F-EC9B0978E0CE}</DefaultValue> </Parameter> <Parameter Name="viewName"> <DefaultValue>{E2168426-804F-4836-9BE4-DC5F8D08A54F}</DefaultValue> </Parameter> <Parameter Name="rowLimit"> <DefaultValue>9999</DefaultValue> </Parameter> </Parameters> </Method> <ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="True">*</ElementPath> </Query> THis works fine, I have a result which I can show in a report, but I want to have the ability to select a parameter to filter the result on. I have created a parameter and when I preview the Report I see the dropdownbox which I can use to make a selection from the Title field, when I do this it still shows the first record, obviously it doens't work yet (DUH!) because I need to create a query somewhere, But! I have no idea where, I tried to include <Where> <Eq> <FieldRef Name="ows_Title" /> <Value Type="Text">testValue</Value> </Eq> </Where> in the the soap request but it didn't worked... I've searched teh intarwebz but couldn't find any simliar problems... kinda stuck now...any thoughts on this? • Using the sharepoint stsadm import command fails when list exists

  When using the stsadm -o import command in sharepoint I am getting an error relating to a list already existing, the import then seems to fail. Should it not handle this scenario of a list already existing on the destination server? I then used the UI to delete the existing list and ran the import again. It then seemed to fail at the same point saying the list exists. In the UI the list appears but when I click it, it reports that the list does not exist - almost as if it's stuck in a half created state, unable to be deleted or created by the import. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  Hoping someone can shed some light on what I might be doing wrong here. Trying to add an "event" to a list of events, represented by a one to many (inverse) relationship: MyEvents <--- Event This is the code: MyEvents *myEvents = (MyEvents *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"MyEvents" inManagedObjectContext:context]; NSLog(@"MYEVENTS: %@", myEvents); NSLog(@"EVENT: %@", event); [myEvents addEventObject:event]; My context is fine, and both the myEvents and event print perfectly valid information. When I try to add the event that I have (which is passed into this view controller, having been retrieved from core data previously) with this code [myEvents addEventObject:event]; It falls over with *** -[NSComparisonPredicate evaluateWithObject:]: message sent to deallocated instance MyEvents and Event are just the default generated code. MyEvents contains only the relationship to event. Thanks.

• Sharepoint/WSS Reporting Services Integration woes

  after a number of failed attempts i seem to have successfully installed the Reporting services add-in to my WSS farm. However, I seem to be missing most of the enhanced functionality eg no report library template, no report center site template. the only additional functionality available is the report viewer web part. background: 2 server WSS 3.0 farm with CA (Central admin) WFE (web front end) and reporting services addin installed on 1, and SQL05 SP2 with Reporting services (RS) and all databases installed on other. I have a VM environment set up and have rolled this back and repeated a number of times. I have configured RS within CA and activated 'Report Server INtegration Feature'. Within the 'site settings' I have a 'Reporting Services' heading with a 'manage shared schedules' item/link, not sure if there should be other options? I was of the understanding that to view reports within sharepoint i could either create a new site using the 'report center' template or add a report library to an existing site, neither of which seems available I am at a loss as to what to do, as all online information seems to do with dealing with installation issues/errors, which i seem to have eventually got past

  I have a web app which is extended to extranet for our clients to access. We have setup a different AD server and domain for dmz and clients have to be authenticated against that domain. I'm little confused about the setup especially what all web.config files I have to update. Do I have to update the web.config file for Central admin site and the extended web app. According to this blog I need to do update both, but as soon as I make the changes in the web.config for central admin, central admin site stops working.   I have a strong type view of type List<List<MyViewModelClass>> The outer list will always have two lists of List<MyViewModelClass>. For each of the two outer lists I want to display a group of checkboxes. Each set can have an arbitrary number of choices. My view model class looks similar to this: public class MyViewModelClass { public Area Area { get; set; } public bool IsGeneric { get; set; } public string Code { get; set; } public bool IsChecked { get; set; } } So the final view will look something like: Please select those that apply: First set of choices: x Option 1 x Option 2 x Option 3 etc. Second set of choices: x Second Option 1 x Second Option 2 x Second Option 3 x Second Option 4 etc. Checkboxes should display MyViewModelClass.Area.Name, and their value should be related to MyViewModelClass.Area.Id. Checked state is of course related to MyViewModel.IsChecked. Question I wonder how should I use Html.CheckBox() or Html.CheckBoxFor() helper to display my checkboxes? I have to get these values back to the server on a postback of course. • Sharepoint Central Administration stuck / high CPU usage

  I'm using WSS 3 and I recently added a new web application to my SharePoint Server. After adding it, I wasn't able to open the Central Administration site. I also noticed that there was a w3wp.exe error (Event ID 1000) in the Event Viewer. The situation now is that the w3wp.exe process is hovering around 50% CPU usage continuously. I installed a program called IIS Peek, and it shows continuous GET requests on the Central Administration site; this happens even if I stop the Central Administration site in IIS. The IP addresses identified in the GET request is my workstation, which is what I used to attempt to access Central Administration after I created the new web application. Can someone explain what's going on and how I might fix it? It seems as if my computer tried to access Central Administration and then it hung, but the page requests that were happening at the time are somehow continuing over and over again. So my two problems are the inability to access Central Administration, and the CPU Usage of w3wp.exe, which I'm assuming are two symptoms of the same problem. I'd like to know if there's anything I can do besides restarting IIS, because we have clients accessing other sites on this server. Thanks.

  I am having some issues involving Parallel for loops and adding to a List. The problem is, the same code may generate different output at different times. I have set up some test code below. In this code, I create a List of 10,000 int values. 1/10th of the values will be 0, 1/10th of the values will be 1, all the way up to 1/10th of the values being 9. After setting up this List, I setup a Parallel for loop that iterates through the list. If the current number is 0, I add a value to a new List. After the Parallel for loop completes, I output the size of the list. The size should always be 1,000. Most of the time, the correct answer is given. However, I have seen 3 possible incorrect outcomes occur: The size of the list is less than 1,000 An IndexOutOfRangeException occurs @ doubleList.Add(0.0); An ArgumentException occurs @ doubleList.Add(0.0); The message for the ArgumentException given was: Destination array was not long enough. Check destIndex and length, and the array's lower bounds. What could be causing the errors? Is this a .Net bug? Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening? Please try the code for yourself. If you do not get an error, try it a few times. • Having trouble mapping Sharepoint document library as a Network Place

  I am using Office 365, Sharepoint Online 2013. Using Internet Explorer these are the steps I have taken: ticked the keep me signed in on the portal.microsoftonline.com page. It redirects me to Godaddy login page because Office 365 was purchased through them. I have added these sites to trusted sites (as well as every page in the process) and chose auto logon in Internet explorer. Once on the document library I open as explorer and copy the address as text. I go to My Computer and right click to add a network place and paste in the document library address. It successfully adds the library as a network place 30% of the time. I can do this same process 3 times in a row and it will fail the first 2 times and then succeeds. It works for a little while and then I get an error that the DNS cannot be found. I need multiple users in our organization to be able to access this document library as if it was a mapped network drive on our local network. Is there an easier way to do this? I may just sync using the One Drive app but thought that direct access to the files without worrying about users keeping their files synced.

  Using WSS 3.0, we have noticed that while users can be restricted to access only certain sub-sites of a site collection through permission settings, the same doesn't seem to be true for web services, such as /_vti_bin/Lists.asmx! Here's our experimental setup: http://formal/test : 'test' site collection - site1 : first site in test site collection, user1 is member - site2 : second site in test site collection, user2 is member With this setup, using a web browser user2 can: - access http://formal/test/site2/Default.aspx - cannot access http://formal/test/site1/Default.aspx That's what is expected. To our surprise however, using the code below, user2 can retrieve the names of the lists in site1, something he should not have access to! Is that by (unfortunate) design, or is there a configuration setting we've missed that would prevent user2 from retrieving the names of lists in site1? Is this going to be different in SharePoint 2010? • Finding a sequence in a List

  I have a list of integers that I would like to search for a sequence. For example, if i have a master list: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 2, 39, 482, 19283, 19, 23, 1, 29 And I want to find sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4 I would like some easy way to fill a subset list with: 1, 2, 3, 4 + the next five integers in the master list And then remove the integers in the subset list from the master list so at the end of the operation, my lists would look like this: Master list: 19, 23, 1, 29 Subset list: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 2, 39, 482, 19283 Hope that makes sense. I'm guessing maybe linq would be good for something like this, but I've never used it before. Can anyone help?

Now I have to write it as: let rec sublist list i j = if i j then [] else (List.nth list i) :: (sublist list (i+1) j) which is quite concise but I'm questioning the efficiency of List.nth, because if it's O(n), I would rather have to write it in a less concise way. I'm wondering why didn't they provide List.sublist func, if List.nth is not O(1), because it's such a quite common operation..

• How to best transfer large payloads of data using wsHttp with WCF with message security

  I have a case where I need to transfer large amounts of serialized object graphs (via NetDataContractSerializer) using WCF using wsHttp. I'm using message security and would like to continue to do so. Using this setup I would like to transfer serialized object graph which can sometimes approach around 300MB or so but when I try to do so I've started seeing a exception of type System.InsufficientMemoryException appear. After a little research it appears that by default in WCF that a result to a service call is contained within a single message by default which contains the serialized data and this data is buffered by default on the server until the whole message is completely written. Thus the memory exception is being caused by the fact that the server is running out of memory resources that it is allowed to allocate because that buffer is full. The two main recommendations that I've come across are to use streaming or chunking to solve this problem however it is not clear to me what that involves and whether either solution is possible with my current setup (wsHttp/NetDataContractSerializer/Message Security). So far I understand that to use streaming message security would not work because message encryption and decryption need to work on the whole set of data and not a partial message. Chunking however sounds like it might be possible however it is not clear to me how it would be done with the other constraints that I've listed. If anybody could offer some guidance on what solutions are available and how to go about implementing it I would greatly appreciate it. • Scalable / Parallel Large Graph Analysis Library?

  I am looking for good recommendations for scalable and/or parallel large graph analysis libraries in various languages. The problems I am working on involve significant computational analysis of graphs/networks with 1-100 million nodes and 10 million to 1+ billion edges. The largest SMP computer I am using has 256 GB memory, but I also have access to an HPC cluster with 1000 cores, 2 TB aggregate memory, and MPI for communication. I am primarily looking for scalable, high-performance graph libraries that could be used in either single or multi-threaded scenarios, but parallel analysis libraries based on MPI or a similar protocol for communication and/or distributed memory are also of interest for high-end problems. Target programming languages include C++, C, Java, and Python. My research to-date has come up with the following possible solutions for these languages: C++ -- The most viable solutions appear to be the Boost Graph Library and Parallel Boost Graph Library. I have looked briefly at MTGL, but it is currently slanted more toward massively multithreaded hardware architectures like the Cray XMT. C - igraph and SNAP (Small-world Network Analysis and Partitioning); latter uses OpenMP for parallelism on SMP systems. Java - I have found no parallel libraries here yet, but JGraphT and perhaps JUNG are leading contenders in the non-parallel space. Python - igraph and NetworkX look like the most solid options, though neither is parallel. There used to be Python bindings for BGL, but these are now unsupported; last release in 2005 looks stale now. Other topics here on SO that I've looked at have discussed graph libraries in C++, Java, Python, and other languages. However, none of these topics focused significantly on scalability. Does anyone have recommendations they can offer based on experience with any of the above or other library packages when applied to large graph analysis problems? Performance, scalability, and code stability/maturity are my primary concerns. Most of the specialized algorithms will be developed by my team with the exception of any graph-oriented parallel communication or distributed memory frameworks (where the graph state is distributed across a cluster).

• Large Reports for MSRS

  I have a report that needs to be able to render a very large amount of pages (about 4500 in this instance) in a web browser. The total time needed to finish on the report server from start time to end time is about 30 mins for the instance that I am looking at. Does anyone know what options exist for handling the rendering of such a large report in a web browser? In terms of looking into how this can be resolved I have already performed the following tasks. The report gets its data off of a database table that already has the data flattened to the point that the TimeDataRetrieval on the report server is 17812 or about 18 secs. The report itself has been reformatted to include the least expensive report objects that it can in order to render the data in the correct format. I basically consists of a table with about 4 nested tables and thats it. We were trying to accomplish this on a 2005 report server but continued to run into memory issues that were not feasible for our clients. In response to that we moved this onto a 2008 report server to take advantage of the fact that it uses the file system instead of memory and finally were able to get this to work without running out of the available memory but of course it takes much longer.

• List of Hidden / Virtual Windows User Accounts

  I’m trying to find a way to get a comprehensive list of user accounts on a Windows 7 system, including hidden ones. The User Accounts dialog (>control userpasswords2) only shows the normal user accounts, and even the Local User and Groups editor only shows normal user accounts and standard hidden/disabled ones like Administrator and Guest. The Select Users or Groups dialog has a Find Now button which which combines users and groups, but alas, it has the same contents as the LUG. I’m looking for a more comprehensive list that includes “super-hidden” / virtual user accounts like TrustedInstaller (or to be more accurate, NT Service\TrustedInstaller—notice the different “domain”). I checked HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList, but the SpecialAccounts key does not exist. I also checked HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList, and while it does have the SystemProfile, LocalService, and NetworkService accounts listed, it does not have others (like TrustedInstaller and its ilk). TrustedInstaller specifically is a little confusing because it is a user, a service, and an executable file. I am using it as an example because it is “super hidden” in that it does not seem to be listed in any sort of user list. (As an experiment, I tried searching the whole registry for “trustedinstaller” to see if I could find a place where it is listed as a user, but found none.) To be clear, what I am looking for is a list of all accounts that can be used in a user input-field such as in permissions dialogs or as a runas argument.

• Proper Use Of HTML Data Attributes

  I'm writing several JavaScript plugins that are run automatically when the proper HTML markup is detected on the page. For example, when a tabs class is detected, the tabs plugin is loaded dynamically and it automatically applies the tab functionality. Any customization options for the JavaScript plugin are set via HTML5 data attributes, very similar to what Twitter's Bootstrap Framework does. The appeal to the above system is that, once you have it working, you don't have worry about manually instantiating plugins, you just write your HTML markup. This is especially nice if people who don't know JavaScript well (or at all) want to make use of your plugins, which is one of my goals. This setup has been working very well, but for some plugins, I'm finding that I need a more robust set of options. My choices seem to be having an element with many data-attributes or allowing for a single data-options attribute with a JSON options object as a value. Having a lot of attributes seems clunky and repetitive, but going the JSON route makes it slightly more complicated for novices and I'd like to avoid full-blown JavaScript in the attributes if I can. I'm not entirely sure which way is best. Is there a third option that I'm not considering? Are there any recommended best practices for this particular use case?
