  • Images inside of UILabel

    - by enby
hello everyone! I'm trying to find the best way to display images inside of UILabels (in fact, I wouldn't mind switching to something other than UILabel if it supports images with no hassle) The scenario is: I have a table view with hundreds of cells and UILabel being the main component of each cell The text I assign to each cell contains sequences of characters that need to be parsed out and represented as an image In simpler words, imagine a TableView of an instant messenger that parses replaces all ":)", ":(", ":D" etc with corresponding smiley images Any input would be greatly appreciated!

  • Internationalization string testing

    - by LicenseQ
Some people using look-alike Unicode symbols to replace English characters to test the internationalization, e.g. "Test" is replaced as "Test". Is there a wellknown name for this language/culture? Are there utils, keyboard layouts, translation tools for this "language"?

  • Validate HTML entities in JavaScript

    - by Eduard Luca
I have a small JavaScript validation script that validates inputs based on Regex. I want to allow certain characters that are not exactly common (not sure if they're UTF8). For example I want to allow the following character ’, which looks like a single quote, but isn't. I got the HTML code for this which is &#8217;, but I'm not sure how to put this into the Regex. I've tried just inputting [&#8217]* but it doesn't validate.

  • encryption of a single character

    - by SystemicPlural
What is the minimum number of bits needed to represent a single character of encrypted text. eg, if I wanted to encrypt the letter 'a', how many bits would I require. (assume there are many singly encrypted characters using the same key.) Am I right in thinking that it would be the size of the key. eg 256 bits?

  • Is ctrl-s save universal for save or are there different combinations for different languages

    - by aepheus
I imagine that there are different combination, just looking for an affirmation. Or, are we developers really that english-centric? If I were in japan, using a word processor on some computer, would ctrl-s save? Are there keyboards where ctrl-s doesn't even exist (non-english keyboards)? Most of what I've seen usually has latin + [insert language here] characters, usually overridden on the normal qwerty keyboard.

  • How can I find out what the current charset is in C++?

    - by Stef
How can I find out what the current charset is in C++? In a console application (WinXP) I am getting negative values for some characters (like äöüé) with (int)mystring[a] and this surprises me. I was expecting the values to be between 127 and 256. So is there something like GetCharset() or SetCharset() in c++?

  • Find a regular expression that matches a string?

    - by Mirai
I need a model for finding all of the regular expressions that would match a particular string. Basically, I need an algorithm for doing what I do to generate a regex search string from some pattern. My purpose for this to create a list of potential regular expressions from a selection of text and order that list from least specific (i.e. string of characters with abitrary length) to most specific (i.e. the string itself) to be used in text editor.

  • Building proper link with spaces

    - by Joel
Hello, I have the following code in Python: linkHTML = "<a href=\"page?q=%s\">click here</a>" % strLink The problem is that when strLink has spaces in it the link shows up as <a href="page?q=with space">click here</a> I can use strLink.replace(" ","+") But I am sure there are other characters which can cause errors. I tried using urllib.quote(strLink) But it doesn't seem to help. Thanks! Joel

  • Javascript to add cdata section on the fly?

    - by Chris G.
I'm having trouble with special characters that exist in an xml node attribute. To combat this, I'm trying to render the attributes as child nodes and, where necessary, using cdata sections to get around the special characters. The problem is, I can't seem to get the cdata section appended to the node correctly. I'm iterating over the source xml node's attributes and creating new nodes. If the attribute.name = "description" I want to put the attribute.text() in a cdata section and append the new node. That's where I jump the track. // newXMLData is the new xml document that I've created in memory for (var ctr =0;ctr< this.attributes.length;ctr++){ // iterate over the attributes if( this.attributes[ctr].name =="Description"){ // if the attribute name is "Description" add a CDATA section var thisNodeName = this.attributes[ctr].name; newXMLDataNode.append("<"+thisNodeName +"></"+ thisNodeName +">" ); var cdata = newXMLData.createCDATASection('test'); // here's where it breaks. } else { // It's not "Description" so just append the new node. newXMLDataNode.append("<"+ this.attributes[ctr].name +">" + $(this.attributes[ctr]).text() + "</"+ this.attributes[ctr].name +">" ); } } Any ideas? Is there another way to add a cdata section? • ASP.Net - How do I allow users to enter html tags in textbox without runtime errors?

    - by Coder
I have an input textbox on an asp.net page and when a user inputs any tags like break tags or bold an error occurs. I currently am using the following to encode the input: Server.HtmlEncode(mytextbox.Text) However this only encodes characters when they aren't phrased as an html tag, like if the input is "<<<" is there a way for me to allow the user to put the tags in without it leading to a runtime error? Thanks.

  • NSMutableArray does not print well with several lines of string

    - by ahmet732
while(sqlite3_step(compiledStatement) == SQLITE_ROW) { NSString *araci2 = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 2)]; [dbarray addObject:araci2]; NSLog(@"DB ITEMS: %@",dbarray); } First of all, I try to get a description longer than a line from db. While part of the value appears meaningful, some of the characters of those values are absurd like "00fu". How can I print them in proper fashion ?
