• Changes made to cli's php.ini not taking effect

  I have two php.ini files - /etc/php.ini which loads in case of cli /opt/lampp/etc/php.ini which loads in case of browser. I am able to use PHP's Mailparse extension after adding the line extension=mailparse.so in the /opt/lampp/etc/php.ini and restarting lampp. But I am not able to load the same in case of command line - getting PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function mailparse_msg_create() in ... mailparse_msg_create() is a part of the Mailparse extension. I tried by relogging with the user after making the change and even restarting the system. What needs to be done so that the change takes effect. Update I checked that php -i | grep 'Configuration File' gives PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/mailparse.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules/mailparse.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Configuration File (php.ini) Path => /etc Loaded Configuration File => /etc/php.ini Update 2 I copied the mailparse.so from /opt/lampp/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626 and put it in /usr/lib/php/modules. I added extension=mailparse.so to /etc/php.ini as well. But it still showed this warning PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library ... As told by Lekensteyn, I did ldd /usr/lib/php/modules/mailparse.so and got ldd: warning: you do not have execution permission for /usr/lib/php/modules/mailparse.so' So I gave execute permission. Then ldd /usr/lib/php/modules/mailparse.so showed linux-gate.so.1 => (0x00110000) libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x0011d000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x003aa000) which looks normal.   I have a CentOS 5.4 server with Apache 2.2.3, mod_fastcgi and PHP 5.2.11. Everything is working great, server is a production server and I've had no complaints.   I'm trying to enable mod_rewrite on an Amazon Linux instance. I have commented out all the Apache modules not needed by Wordpress.   I am trying to install some Perl modules into a non-standard location, let's call it /non/standard/location. In the script which uses the module, it seems to be necessary to specify a long directory path including the version of Perl, like so: #!/usr/local/bin/perl use lib '/non/standard/location/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.9/'; use A::B; Is there any use lib or other statement which I can use which is not so long and verbose, and which does not include the actual version of Perl, in order that I don't have to go back and edit this out of the program if the version of Perl is upgraded?

  I'm setting up a repository for me and some colleagues. I have a subversion repository at hand, and all required rights. The usual directory-skeleton has been set up for me (branches, tags and trunk). Now I'm about to create a directory for me and my colleagues to put our files in. I'm quite sure the right place to put it is in trunk. Now here and there in tutorials, I see terms like "modules" and "projects" such as in Checking Out a Project - svn checkout svn checkout http://host_name/svn_dir/repository_name/project/trunk proj Is proj in the above line some glorified directory in trunk? Should I do something else than a checkout on trunk, mkdir and then commit when creating a directory for me and my colleagues? Whats the difference between a project, a directory in trunk and a module?

• Is there a cap on the number of modules WinDbg can see?

  Does anyone know if there is a cap on the number of DLLs WinDbg can see ? I believe Visual Studio was once capped at 500 but I can't find a source for this claim outside of some second hand accounts at work. I'm trying to debug a hairy scenario and WinDbg's stack trace is incomplete. According to Process Explorer, the module I'm interested in is loaded but it doesn't show up in the output of 'lm' in WinDbg. Suspiciously, said output is exactly 500 modules long, even though I know there are many more than that loaded, leading me to believe WinDbg isn't seeing DLLs beyond the first 500. Can anyone confirm ? Or suggest some other reason why a loaded module might not show up in 'lm' ?

How could this be? I have totally different signatures. However, if I put the 2 methods into the same module, there's no ambiguity at all. Could someone tell me why? Many thanks.

• wireless internet in linux is very very slow... but in windows.... everythnings fine

  A few .rpmnew files are being created after performing an upgrade of the Fedora OS. The normal procedure for merging .rpmnew files into the original ones is to compare the differences, make the necessary changes to the configuration on the .rpmnew files, and replace the original files with the new ones. However, the files contained in /etc/pam.d are links to files with same the filename appended with -ac, example: password-auth links to password-auth-ac and has password-auth.rpmnew as upgrade. How do I go about merging these files?

• IPtables rate-limit, What are the differences between modules? Recent, Limit

  I am doing some rate-limiting with IPtables, and i'm not sure if I should use "Recent" or "Limit" What are the differences between the two? If they both achieve the same result, which one has better performance? I would like to know, regardless if any difference would be perceivable. I am looking to ACCEPT if under limit, and REJECT if over. I'm not interested in thus bandwidth throttling, I don't want a queue. I don't need any syntax examples, both have ample use examples online. I have also used Limit in the past. I appreciate any responses.

• Are there any Powershell modules specifically for IIS6 administration?

  I'm looking to manage/administer many IIS6 servers remotely via Powershell (query sites, iis settings, etc). Is this possible? Is there a Microsoft-supported module out there? Or do I have to use WMI-Object/WebAdministration? If so, could some one give me some quick instructions on doing some simple "get info" commands in Powershell to a remote IIS6 machine? (It's frustrating that there is a nice IIS7/Microsoft-supported module out there: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/428/getting-started-with-the-iis-70-powershell-snap-in/ But not an IIS6 one easily found.)

• OSB/OSR/OER in One Domain - QName violates loader constraints

  For demos, testing and prototyping, I wanted a single domain which contained three servers:OSB - Oracle Service BusOSR - Oracle Service RegistryOER - Oracle Enterprise Repository These three can work together to help with service governance in an enterprise.  When building out the domain, I found errors in the OSR server due to some conflicting classes from the OSB.  This wouldn't be an issue if each server was given a unique classpath setting with the node manager, but I was having the node manager use the standard startup scripts. • How do I access the names of VB6 modules from code?

  Hi All - It is unlikely that there is an answer for this one, but I'm asking anyway. I am currently maintaining some code, which is likely to be refactored soon. Before that happens, I want to make the standard error handling code, which is injected by an Add-In, more efficient and take up less space. One thing that annoys me is that every module has a constant called m_ksModuleName that is used to construct a big string, which is then rethrown from the error handler so we can trace the error stack. This is all template code, i.e. repetivitve, but I could easily strip it down to a procedure call. Now, I have fixed the code so that you can pass the Me reference to the procedure - but you can't do that for the BAS modules. Nor can you access the project name (the part which would be passed as part of a ProgramID, for instance) - although you get given it when you raise an error yourself. All these strings are contained in the EXE, DLL or OCX - believe me, I've used a debugger to find them. But how can I access these in code? -- Mark Bertenshaw

• ASP.NET MVC ....or.... PHP, Python, Ruby, Java...?

  I’m using ASP.NET MVC in C# and jQuery as well as Ajax. A lot of other web technologies confuse me: PHP, Python, Ruby, Java (or C++) etc. What is your opinion about ASP.NET MVC? Should I choose something else? Today, everyone says, “PHP” is worldly used language..!! And that’s true!!! I’m confused, much confused about my future career. I’m worried I’m not going in right direction! Or for making my future brighter, whether I should choose something else other than ASP.NET MVC and C#. And what would that something else be? I want to be a web developer that can do everything with web (and for web). I’m worried if I’m wasting my time with ASP.NET MVC!!!

• Sending keyboard commands to Ubuntu through Python. Remote for my Blackberry

  I am trying to build a remote control application to control media on my Ubuntu. Does anyone know a way in order to accomplish this. The media keys in particular. Thank you. EDIT 1: I have tried using XTE, but is seems python in truncating the input or there is a limit or something which means that you can't do Ctrl + Key key presses, which wont suit my needs. I also tried uinput, but alas you need to run it as root, which also will not quite my needs. Now I am looking at EVDEV which seems promicing, that is if I can get it working.

• Should data structures be integrated into the language (as in Python) or be provided in the standard library (as in Java)?

  In Python, and most likely many other programming languages, common data structures can be found as an integrated part of the core language with their own dedicated syntax. If we put LISP's integrated list syntax aside, I can't think of any other languages that I know which provides some kind of data structure above the array as an integrated part of their syntax, though all of them (but C, I guess) seem to provide them in the standard library. From a language design perspective, what are your opinions on having a specific syntax for data structures in the core language? Is it a good idea, and does the purpose of the language (etc.) change how good this could be of a choice? Edit: I'm sorry for (apparently) causing some confusion about which data structures I mean. I talk about the basic and commonly used ones, but still not the most basic ones. This excludes trees (too complex, uncommon), stacks (too seldom used), arrays (too simple) but includes e.g. sets, lists and hashmaps.

• How to move to Java enterprise development after Python and Ruby?

  I used to develop in Django/Python and Rails/Ruby (and before that C/C++ and C#), and I'm now at a job where we do enterprise Java development (Spring, Hibernate, RESTEasy, Maven, etc.) for web applications and web services. Coming from the Convention over Configuration world, what's the best way to get up to speed doing enterprise Java web services development? I know Java (the language) well, and I've written GUIs in Swing and basic JSP before, but nothing of the kind I'm doing now. Are there any recommended tutorials to get up to speed on popular Java enterprise development tutorials?
