  • Oracle: Is there a way to get the column data types for a view?

    - by rally25rs
    For a table in oracle, I can query "all_tab_columns" and get table column information, like the data type, precision, whether or not the column is nullable. In SQL Developer or TOAD, you can click on a view in the GUI and it will spit out a list of the columns that the view returns and the same set of data (data type, precision, nullable, etc). So my question is, is there a way to query this column definition for a view, the way you can for a table? How do the GUI tools do it?

  • Faster way to know the total number of rows in MySQL database?

    - by Starx
    If I need to know the total number of rows in a table of database I do something like this: $query = "SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE link='1';"; $result = mysql_query($query); $rows = mysql_fetch_array($result); $count = count($rows); So you see the total number of data is recovered scanning through the entire database. Is there a better way?

  • Advantage Database Server: in-memory queries.

    - by ie
    As far as I know, ADS v.10 tries to keep result of query in memory until it is a quite huge. The same should be true for the __output table and for temporary tables. When the result becoming large, swapping stated. The question is what memory limit is set for a query, a worker, whatever? Could this limit be configured? Thanks.

I cant decide whether to write a SP, or to dynamically creat the SQL and send the query to the db engine.# Any tips on how to decide?

  • How to get HABTM associated data using hasOne binding

    - by Moin
    Hi, I am following example documented at http://book.cakephp.org/view/83/hasAndBelongsToMany-HABTM I am trying to retrieve associated data using hasOne. I created 3 tables posts, tags and posts_tags. I wrote following code to debug Posts. $this->Post->bindModel(array( 'hasOne' => array( 'PostsTag', 'FilterTag' => array( 'className' => 'Tag', 'foreignKey' => false, 'conditions' => array('FilterTag.id = PostsTag.tag_id') )))); $output=$this->Post->find('all', array( 'fields' => array('Post.*') )); debug($output); I was expecting output something like below. Array ( 0 => Array { [Post] => Array ( [id] => 1 [title] => test post 1 ) [Tag] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [id] => 1 [name] => php ) [1] => Array ( [id] => 2 [name] => javascript ) [2] => Array ( [id] => 3 [name] => xml ) ) } But my output do not have Tags at all. Here is what I got. Array ( [0] => Array ( [Post] => Array ( [id] => 1 [title] => test post1 ) ) [1] => Array ( [Post] => Array ( [id] => 2 [title] => test post2 ) ) ) How do I get associated tags along with the post. I know I am missing something, but unable to figure out. Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • Generate a JasperReport for a specific user

    - by user530846
    I'm looking at using the JasperReport Web Services to create user specific reports. As opposed to getting a user to supply the name of the user to use for the query (and therefore expose a risk of users viewing each others data), I'd like within JasperReport to pull out their identity from their (Basic) authentication details from the web service run report call and then use their user name as a query parameter when running the report. Is there any documentation or examples on how this can be achieved?
