• Process for Upgrading from RedBean 3.5 to RedBean 4

  I am currently using RedBean version 3.5. I think I would like to move to the latest version of RedBean, version 4. I have found no documentation about upgrade process and have a number of significant questions: Is my RedBean 3.5 database schema compatible 4, or will up have to migrate all of the tables to some new format? Is any of my RedBean 3.5 code compatible with version 4, or wouldI need to rewrite all of my code that uses RedBean 3.5? Would it make more sense to upgrade to Doctrine? As a side note, I am also feeling concerned about RedBean's drop of support for Composer, which I have found to be über helpful in managing the various versions of libraries I am using.

• Any way for linq query to check against existing select?

  I have an an offer, that can be in any number of categories. I don't however want that offer to then appear twice or however more. I was wondering if its possible to have a where clause that ascertains whether that offer already exists in that select statement and if so obviously to ignore it. • How to make an element slide with the viewport as it scrolls?

  I've Googled for this but must be using the wrong keywords. Basically I want to use the effect that Magento and now Stack Overflow uses. That is, there is an element in a column, and when you scroll down, it sticks to the top of the viewport. And once scrolled up again, it goes back into the normal page flow. This Ask A Question is a good page for example. Scroll down and watch the "How to Format" element come down (might need to make your viewport smaller if you have a large screen to see the effect). I've noticed it is setting position: fixed in the CSS. The JavaScript however is obfuscated. What's the easiest way to achieve this effect? Is there a jQuery plugin available?

  I am trying to get current location of user using CLLocationCoordinate2D.   In general, should one design in order to place processing load on client-side? More specifically, a search engine to locate subscriber information requires a fair amount of parsing (multiple phone numbers to sort and format, hour of day, timezone, comparisons for possible substitutions of user information, etc.). Again, in general, is it preferred that one have client-side do the work? It seems to me 'yes' in a situation in which one will have many thousands of hits per minute.   Been searching for an answer to this for the better part of an hour without much luck. I have two regional tables laid out with the same column names and I can put out a result list for either table based on the following query (swap Table2 for Table1): SELECT Table1.YEAR, FORMAT(COUNT(Table1.id),0) AS Total FROM Table1 WHERE Table1.variable='Y' GROUP BY Table1.YEAR Ideally I'd like to get a result that gives me a total sum of the counts by year, so instead of: | REGION 1 | | REGION 2 | | YEAR | Total | | YEAR | Total | | 2010 | 5 | | 2010 | 1 | | 2009 | 2 | | 2009 | 3 | | | | | 2008 | 4 | I'd have: | MERGED | | YEAR | Total | | 2010 | 6 | | 2009 | 5 | | 2008 | 4 | I've tried a variety of JOINs and other ideas but I think I'm caught up on the SUM and COUNT issue.   I need to extract the SAME type of information (e.g. First name, Last Name, Telephone, ...), from numerous different text sources (each with a different format & different order of the variables of interest). I want a function that does the extraction based on a regular expression and returns the result as DESCRIPTIVE variables. In other words, instead of returning each match result as submatch[0], submatch[1], submatch[2], ..., have it do EITHER of the following: 1.) return std::map so that the submatches can be accessed via: submatch["first_name"], submatch["last_name"], submatch["telephone"] 2.) return a variables with the submatches so that the submatches can be accessed via: submatch_first_name, submatch_last_name, submatch_telephone I can write a wrapper class around boost::regex to do #1, but I was hoping there would be a built-in or a more elegant way to do this in C++/Boost/STL/C.

  Hi, We're about to launch a little twitter Christmas competition, and I've run into a little snag. To enter, people will need to post a tweet in the following format: @user blah, blah, blah #hashtag Currently, I have a form where they enter their answer (the blah, blah, blah) and a PHP script which encodes the entire statement and adds on the twitter url: http://www.twitter.com/home?status=%40user%20blah%2Cblah%2Cblah%20%23hashtag Then takes the user to twitter and puts the status in the update field. However, whilst the spaces (%20) are decoded fine the @ and # characters remain as %40 & %23 respectively, even when the tweet is posted. I cannot put the actual characters in the url as twitter mistakes this for a search. Is there any way to solve this? I'd like to do it without requiring username & password etc if possible. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

From x In {1, 2} Select x.ToString() The error given by the compiler is: Range variable name cannot match the name of a member of the 'Object' class. There is nothing wrong with the equivalent C# query, though: from x in new[]{1, 2} select x.ToString() This does not happen with the ToString overload that takes a format (it is a member of Int32, not Object). It does happen with other members of Object, as long as they don't take an argument: with GetType and GetHashCode it fails; with Equals(object) it compiles. Why is this restriction in place, and what alternatives can I use?

Everything is working fine, but i need to end the file with the DateTime.Now.ToString(). string date = DateTime.Now.ToString(); ExcelWorkSheet2.Cells[newFileRow, 1] = date; When I see the file created, it shows "########" symbol instead of actual date.   Hello, I have a form which asks the user his or her date of birth. Its a drop down box since I use the select input type. The first drop down has Months, second has Days, the third has the Years. So the format should be Month(October), Day(25), Year(1990). In other words the months spell out the actual month and not simply the number representation of the month. However, I would like to save the Day and Year in their respective formats. How can I do this in phpMyAdmin? Should I use the DATE type? what should the value be? I just need to know how to correlate all of this in phpmyadmin, so I can save it properly. Thank you.

  Global.alert("base: " + base + ", upfront: " + upfront + ", both: " + (base + upfront)); This code above outputs this: base: 15000, upfront: 36, both: 1500036 Why is it joining the two numbers instead of adding them up? I eventually want to set the value of another field to this amount using this: mainPanel.feesPanel.initialLoanAmount.setValue(Ext.util.Format.number((base + upfront), '$0,000.00')); ...and when I try that now it turns the number into the millions instead of 15,036.00. I have no idea why. Any ideas?

  Hi, I have a SQL database holding a number of numeric and text values that get updated regularly. The exact number/type/names of these data points can change depending on the source of the database writes. I would like to create a user interface editor, where the user can add database points to the UI and arrange them and format them as they want. If a new point is added to the database they can right click on the UI and say "add this point" and choose from a list of database points. I'm looking for some pointers on where to start on creating this editor application, could something clever be done using XAML to dynamically create std WPF controls at runtime?
