    I've got a J2EE web application that I'm working on and when an exception occurs, I'd like to get some basic details about the exception and log it. The message that I'm logging should be pretty basic, something that might mean something to the people running the web server(s). Would using e.getMessage() be the best thing to log? Thanks.

  • java.lang.NullPointerException exception in my controller file (using Spring Hibernate Maven)

    The problem doesn't seemed to have anything to do with Hibernate. As I've commented the Hibernate stuff but I'm still getting it. If I comment out this line message = staffDAO.searchForStaff(search); in my controller file, it goes through ok. But I don't see anything wrong with searchForStaff function. It's a very simple function that just returns the string "test" and run system.out.println("test").     I have an application that performs a little slow over the internet due to bandwidth reasons. I have enabled GZip which has improved download time by a significant amout, but I was also considering whether or not I could switch from XML to JSON in order to squeeze out that last bit of performance. Would using JSON make the message size significantly smaller, or just somewhat smaller? Let's say we're talking about 250kB of XML data (which compresses to 30kB).

For example, I would like to change the default "Function" to do a System.out.println("message") whenever called. So, when a custom method/function is being created: public String testMethod() { //custom code } it should execute the newly added default behaviour (in this case the system output), before the custom code is run. Even if this would be a bad excercise, is it possible? Maybe by extending the function class or something?

    I am trying to attach an 8M .wav file to a "story" in drupal. I can attach similar smaller files, but when i try this one and larger sizes i get in HTTP Error 0 message after a minute or to. I have checked all my max upload, Max Mem sizes they are set at well over 8M at 64M and 256M. Anyone else have this issue uploading files ever?

    I have a div, that I'm using JavaScript to position, so that when someone hovers over an image, it displays a tooltip message that follows along with the pointer. (Using tooltip-0.2.js ) The problem is that when a user goes to the page in IE6, a disabled dropdown box on the page is showing through this absolutely positioned tooltip when it tries to hover over it. How can I get this dropdownlist to know its proper place? ;)

    When I try to go to Localhost by entering http and then ://localhost, it automatically branches to http://naazir-pc/WebDB/WEBDB.home with a message saying "Oops! This link appears to be broken.".
