Creating some simple html pages specific for the iphone, and would like to use autocomplete for one of my textboxes. Is it possible to do this with javascript and if so, how?
Are there any free audio players that I can use in my website? Are they customizable?
I've heard of Soundmanager 2. It's a flash based player with a javascript front-end.
Are there any other free players like that?
At the JSON site it says
JSON does not support cyclic data
structures, so be careful to not give
cyclical structures to the JSON
stringifier.
What does it mean by this? Can someone give me an example of such a data structure in Javascript?
i found a site, which has some function that i need, in javascript. It's using jQuery, when i clicking tag, some function has been executed, so jQuery set a bind for tag.. but how i could found wich function is binded for it? Firebug didn't show it to me :(
I've been using
document.forms[0].fieldname.value
to get values in javascript from a form, but I'd like to use a name to reference the field and not a 0, what would be the equivalent these days since isn't compliant?
I have multiple textboxes with set character limits that together make up a code. There is value in the boxes being separated for a variety of reasons. I want to be able to paste a complete code in the first textbox and have it automatically populate all the textboxes. Is there a way to do this in javascript or a jquery library for this case?
Currently I'm using jQuery autotab on each textbox and I'd prefer to keep that functionality.
So I've read the two related questions for calculating a trend line for a graph, but I'm still lost.
I have an array of xy coordinates, and I want to come up with another array of xy coordinates (can be fewer coordinates) that represent a logarithmic trend line using PHP.
I'm passing these arrays to javascript to plot graphs on the client side.
Using Javascript, I would like change the background color of the numbers in an ordered HTML list. The background color of the list content should not change.
How can I achieve this ?
Hi,
I am using a forever frame (COMET streaming technique) and in IE6 whenever a user clicks on a link (to even just basic JavaScript method) the connection is immediately dropped and has to be manually refreshed.
Has anyone come across a similar issue and / or know how to address it?

I find it very convenient to set arbitary attributes like:
<a stackoverflowId="123">..
And in JavaScript:
var soId = $selectofA.attr('stackoverflowId'); //jQuery
Is it a good practice at all? I've never had a problem with this yet.

Based on http://mark.mymonster.nl/2009/02/28/integration-of-browsers-unloading-with-silverlight/ I know when the user closes a browser window containing Silverlight, by use of javascript. This basically creates a popup window, where the user can stay on the page(by clicking CANCEL), or exit the page (by clicking OK).
I am interested in how I can determine if the user wants to exit the page, or continue to stay on the page.
I am calling window.location.href = "some url";
I want to check whether that url is opening or not. Means if the url is wrong how do check it in javascript so that I can redirect it to another url.
Thanks.

I was trying to implement an image panner I found here
Chrome renders the same document differently depending on the extension of the file requested. I have created a test case, where it works when the file it's not named as test.xhtml
You can download the test case from here
Does anybody know why or how to solve it? I want my files to be .xhtml
In IE and FF it works fine.
Code:
test.html / test.xhtml (change the name to see that works with one but not with the other).
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

I correctly inserted a javascript file into the wordPress admin with :
wp_enqueue_script()
I know that the script is loading. I tested it with an alert().
I then found that I am unable to access the DOM. When I tried :
document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].addEventListener('load', function() {});
This error was:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'addEventListener' of undefined
This is the first time I have used 'settings api' or inserted scripts into the WordPress admin.
Hi all.
Is it possible to delete some images from the browser (firefox2) memory using javascript? By doing this, I want to save some precious browser memory and let my web app to work better.
I guess that if possible, it will be something like this:
delete (document.images[7]);
document.images[7].src = null;
document.images[7] = null;
Thanks guys!
Here is an interesting use of JavaScript: reordering items with drag and drop. The implementation itself in my page works fine, but is there a way to determine in which order the user put the items?
jQuery is undoubtedly the best javascript framework available and its plugin base is also pretty awesome. I wanted to know which one is the best framework in terms of
Use Of Plugin
API Design
Ease Of Use
Documentation
Support and Bug fixes
etc...
In my view the best plugins I used so far are
Form plugin
Validation
Nyromodal
jQuery drag&drop, Sortable
EDIT: Made it a community wiki
Hello everybody,
When my website is in fullscreen mode (with IE8), the window.focus() javascript command doesn' work.
Do you have a fix for my problem?
I tried to put a window.blur() before, without success.
Thank you!
