  I am following the BigNerdRanch iOS Programming book and I am on this one chapter that deals with UITableViewController. I have been wondering however where UITableViewController finds out about its delegate and dataSource. Currently I have it as @interface ItemsViewController : UITableViewController <UITableViewDataSource, UITableViewDelegate> But there is nothing that looks like: [self.tableView setDelegate:self] I am just wondering how the UITableViewController finds out about its delegate and dataSource

• How to determine the event of the linux devices?

  Hi, I am learning some embedded programming. I am using Linux as my platform and I want to create a daemon program that will check if a particular device(magstrife, keypad, etc) is active. Like for example, my daemon program is running in the background, then when I make a keypress event, my deamon app will do something. What implementation should I do to create this app? • iPhone - Developing on multiple Macs

  I have a mac and a macbook, and one iPhone device and want to develop on both systems. My enrollment type is individual. How am I able to install the developer certificate and provisioning profiles on both machines? On the macbook it says 'a valid signing identity matching this profile could not be found in your keychain'. In my keychain I have a 'green status' for my developer certificate and in the xcode organizer for my device as well.

In the book Programming with Quartz there is an example on how to draw a circle clipped by a rectangular path (p.37), and there is also a chapter on image masking with existing image as stencil (Ch.10). But I'm still not sure about how to clip an existing image using path. Is there any example or pointer?

  Scala has symbols - names that start with a single quote ' and which are a kind of string constants. I know symbols from Ruby (where they start with a colon). In Ruby they are used for some meta-programming tasks, like generating getters and setters for member variables (for example attr_reader :name to generate a getter for name). I haven't seen a lot of use of symbols in Scala code yet. What are practical uses for symbols in Scala?

However, this has proved to be quite distressing as sometimes the VMware gets hold of it and turns off / pauses (ctrl+Z) the virtual machine. Is there a way to disable keyboard shortcuts on VMware?   I've got two hard disks in my computer, and have installed Solaris 10u8 on the first and Opensolaris 2010.3 (dev onnv_134) on the second. Both systems uses ZFS and were independently created with a zpool name of 'rpool'. While running Solaris 10u8 on the first disk, how do I mount the second ZFS hard disk (at /dev/dsk/c1d1s0) on an arbitrary mount point (like /a) for diagnostics?

• What's the best way to keep java app data stored redundantly in a file?

  If I have systems that are based on realtime data, how can I ensure that all the information that is current is redundantly stored in a file? So that when the program starts again, it uses this information to initialize itself back to where it was when it closed. I know of xstream and HSQLDB. but wasn't sure if this was the best option for data that needs to be a literal carbon copy.
