  • SFTP "Could not connect to server error"

    I'm having problems connecting to my server via SFTP. I can SSH in to the system perfectly fine, but for some odd reason, i'm not able to SFTP (which I used to be able to). I have cleared ALL my iptables rules iptables -F still no access. I have removed the sub system (to allow FULL access) still no access. I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is. Thus is therefore making a solution impossible.

  • Application icons not displayed correctly

    Lately, 7Stacks and Standalone Stacks have been unable to display the icon for any .exe file. They simply show the default icon instead (the white file icon). Rebuilding/fixing the icon cache haven't fixed the problem. Any ides on how to ? I use Windows 7.

  • Windows 7 boot error

    I am running windows 7 professional, everything was working fine until I installed a software driver clearner suggested by nvidia customer service and I cleaned only nvidia graphic driver installation since then my windows does not work at all. I can access everything from startup repair, did lots of time repair but nothing happened. System restore does not work it says c: drive is not available, its 100% there and I can access every file from command prompt. Almost two days passed and I applied every solution discussed on several forums, now only thing left is either install fresh windows (Which i really don't want to do) or update windows (which windows does not let me to do, it says I have to update it from windows) My question is there any way to update (not fresh/custom installation) windows from command prompt? P.s: Safe mode, safe mode command nothing works except startup repair option. I ran sfc /scannow no problem found. I also removed all attached hardwares. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    One thing that's always annoyed me about windows XP is how there's no "scale" option for the desktop background. It either has to be stretched or centered. It's a pretty simple algorithm to scale the image so that one of the dimensions (usually height) fits on the screen. Does anyone know of a good program that does this, or is there a way to enable it?

  • IIS7 application pool spawning worker processes

    IIS7 ASP.net 2.0 Number of worker processes growing out of control in single app pool. Appear to keep spawning upwards. Monitoring the w3wp.exe process i can see "current connections" to web service sometimes spawn out of control but not always , only worker processes are consistently growing when this issue occurs. Number of worker processes normally 0 - 20 , when spawning they can reach 1000 + This was deployed in: %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet.config maxConcurrentRequestsPerCPU="50000" maxConcurrentThreadsPerCPU="0" requestQueueLimit="50000" But issue still occurs. Have tried running PROCDUMP on the exe process but the mini dump isnt a great help. I understand this is 99% probable an app issue , what i need help with is tracking it down. Thank you for any tips. I could login the OEM but when I tried to lauch DBA studio from there, I could not and it said no database has been discovered yet. I don't understand why since I created a database already.     I have two Rails applications (say app1 and app2) deployed using Nginx/Passenger. The server definition in nginx.conf looks like this: server { rails_env demo; client_max_body_size 50M; listen 80; server_name localhost; root /data/apps; passenger_enabled on; passenger_base_uri /app1; passenger_base_uri /app2; } You can see that both are configured to use demo as the RAILS_ENV. How should I change my configuration to run both the apps in different environments. Let's assume app2 is suppose to run with RAILS_ENV=qa and app1 with RAILS_ENV=demo

    I am trying to run a small script - test - on ubuntu box. It is as follows: var1 = bash var2 = /home/test/directory ... ... <some more variable assignments and then program operations here> ... ... Now every time I run it, then it throws errors: root@localhost#/opt/test /opt/test: line 1: var1: command not found /opt/test: line 3: var2: command not found ... ... more similar errors ...     I deleted Linux (Ubuntu) partition from windows Ii forgot to repair mbr. The thing is I don't have my windows boot CD with me now and not CD drive. so the solution I needed is that is there any small utility software that can be easily downloaded (I knew about hiren CD but that's about 500 MB and I don't need that whole stuff) and can work through USB? Also explain steps to perform. Thank you UPDATED: Any small Linux live CD can also b taken into consideration as i can boot that on USB using pendrivelinux software

    I try to install a subdomain on my dedicated server. I made a new DNS rules to point my sub domain to the IP of my serv. After reading this Subdomain on apache i tried to add new rules on Apache : NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName tb.mysite.org DocumentRoot /home/mysite/wwww/tb/ <Directory "/home/mysite/wwww/tb/"> AllowOverride All Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> Then i restart Apache but it returns sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart * Restarting web server apache2 Warning: DocumentRoot [/home/mysite/wwww/tb/] does not exist [Wed Jun 27 10:32:58 2012] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts ... waiting Warning: DocumentRoot [/home/mysite/wwww/tb/] does not exist [Wed Jun 27 10:32:59 2012] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts the tb/ folder is existing, don't why Apache can't find it... And it says that NameVirtualHost:80 has no VirtualHosts...

  • Kernel compiling with -j2+ parameter ends prematurely with no error message or output bzImage

    I've noticed quite a while ago that compiling a kernel with the parameter -j set to 1 or more doesn't produce a bzImage. Instead, it ends prematurely without any advice. I have reproduced the same behavior in both my netbook and home server. As far as I'm aware, the point where the compilation stops is random - Compiling twice with the same parameters will probably stop at different files. However, when I run make with no -j* parameter the compilation ends just fine and outputs a working bzImage. Both machines run Intel Atom (N270 on the netbook and 330 on the server) and I've compiled for these processors. If I recall correctly, I've tried compiling both with Atom and with generic x86_64 options. The kernel version I'm building is 2.6.34.1 I've always compiled normally with those options in my Core2Duo and Pentium Dual Core machines. Has anyone experienced this issue? Any ideas why does this happens? Is there a fix or workaround?

    Hello. I am using Notepad++ and attempting to replace all numeric strings within a specific tag (xxxxof my XML document with a new string which has been modified by a specific variable. Here's an example (please remove the space between < and start): < start501234< /start round(501234 * 0.9) = 451111 < start451111< /start Is there a way to automatically find all numeric values within the start tag and do replace it by that same value multiplied by 0.9? I don't have to use Notepad++ if there's another tool that can do this. Thanks!

  • Debian 7 and PHP 5.4.4 error reporting

    I use default php.ini and then in my PHP script (local.settings.php in Drupal) I simply set ini_set('error_reporting', 'E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_STRICT'); According to documentation this means "show all messages minus notice and strict warnings". But in my case it still shows strict warnings! I have no idea why, because I clearly stated "~E_STRICT". If I comment it out then I see strict warnings. So it means that default from php.ini "E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED & ~E_STRICT" didn't do its job as it also has "~E_STRICT" but I still see strict warnings. On Debian 6 there was Suhoshin patch which was controlling usage of php_ini in PHP scripts. Especially when you try to get more memory than defined cap. Now on debian 7 there is no Suhoshin nor any other security element that might control php_ini. So what might cause php_ini not to be executed? Is there some new variable / setup / other that needs to be checked?

  • intermittent SSH with ssh_exchange_identification error

    My ssh connection to my server works every 30 min for around 10 min. Things that I figure out that might be the problem: The server is underload (it is a database server), but on those spare moments that I can connect, it is still under the same load, which doesnt make sense. The server is a ubuntu, and the consolekit was using a lot of virtual memory. Restarted the consolekit and it seems to be using a right amount of memory now. It is not the host alows or deny. Those are setup properly. It is not a firewall problem. Those settings were working and the same settings are working for other similar machines. It is on the ec2. Amazon cloud.

  • Windows 7 boot error 0xc0000225 after falling down

    My Toshiba netbook fell down and hasn't booted again. When I start Windows 7 it immediately says: Windows failed to start... Status: 0xc0000225 Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. After that, there are a few things to consider: There's a Linux distro Linkat which is also installed in the computer. It starts normally without any problem and it doesn't seem to display any errors when it boots. I restored all computer OSs with clonezilla and some images provided by the manufacturer, and it's done nothing. I have already checked the basic components of the PC (RAM, Hard Disk, WLAN Card) are pluged in and working. My impression is that's all about some broken part inside, though the Linux OS starts normally. Does anyone know a way I can fix this or at least any software for identifying the problem at all?

    I have some applications that I open from time to time, and I always get this UAC message with Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer? Is there a way I can mark a single program so that won't ask me that again? Like, I think it is good that it asks me the first time, but some programs I do launch more often, and I am ok with them making changes and don't want to be asked all the time.

Opening the files and saving them in TextMate is not a problem. What I want to do (from my Mac OS X) is be able to... SSH <linux> cd <folder> mate <filename> I want that to open up the file in TextMate on my Mac OS X (thus, shifting focus from my Terminal.app to TextMate.app). How can I achieve this effect?

    I'm not a very experienced Server Administrator and I'm trying to set up a new one I just got. I'm Using IIS7 and DNS Server What I need is that a url such as: mail.domainA.com points to www.domainB.com/webmail And I want to do this for all other domains... I want all of my domains that start with mail., point to www.domainB.com/webmail In short: I need a Subdomain to redirect to another URL... An improvement would be to let the subdomain as it is on the address bar on the redirection, if possible... Any help?
