• wordpress filters documentation? Trying to understand add_filter()

  I read over the documentation several times and have been having a hard time trying to figure out what is going on with the function. I'm more and more confused after looking at the documentation, looking over the source code as well. add_filter($tag, $hook, $priority, $args); it seems to me the new function extends the parent function. What puzzle's me is what parts of the hook becomes overridden. in some examples in the documentation i see that some variables are replaced with the $args in your new $tag. I almost understood it all here: http://www.andrewnacin.com/2010/05/18/rethinking-template-tags-in-plugins/ but then i couldn't figure out how you pass arguments and which eventually get overriden. thanks in advance.

• jQuery Tools - Range Input with Mousewheel support

  I've got a nice looking horizontal scroller that uses the Range Input feature of jQ Tools. Mouse wheel scrolling support would be awesome, and I'm sure it can work, just not sure how to get it set up. I've got the generic setup: var scroll = jQuery('#scroll'); jQuery(':range').rangeinput({ speed: 0, progress: true, onSlide: function(ev, step) { scroll.css({left: -step}); }, change: function(e, i) { scroll.animate({left: -i}, "fast"); } }); The doc page ( http://jquerytools.org/documentation/toolbox/mousewheel.html ) for mousewheel gives an example: $("#myelement").mousewheel(function(event, delta) { }); But I'm not sure how this hooks in. Other tools in the package simply allow the option: mousewheel: true Unfortunately that doesn't work on range input. Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

In Internet Explorer it's going through it and having no effect. I've put alerts at every line of the function and they all fire, even in IE, but the banner simply doesn't change. Is there any reason as to why this is so?

• C# Custom Control Properties load before Load and arrays are empties

  Hello, I made a custom control with custom properties. When I modify these properties in the "Form.cs [Design]", I need stuff to happens (it fill some arrays and modify the look of the control), so I call a function within the "set" of the property. All of this works good. My problem is that when I run the program with my custom control, it seems that properties "set" is called, which will call the function, but then, my arrays seems now to have lost all their values and the function use these arrays, but now because they are all empty, it crashes due to NullException blahblahblah. It also seems that properties "set" is called before the control Load (which I guess is called only when it is added to my Form, and not when the Form load). So question is, why does my arrays become empty once I try to run the Form and is there an event that is called before that when the Form load? Thanks

  I'm trying to implement a simple api request to the SEOmoz linkscape api. It works if I only use the php file but I want to do an ajax request using jquery to make it faster and more user friendly.   Is there any way to capture the time interval between mouse wheel scroll start and stop? Actually I want to capture the interval between the scrolling start and stop when I very quickly scroll the mouse wheel. I have already looked at MouseWheel event but it don't fulfill my requirement. In senes that it always gives a value of Delta 120 or -120 but i want to call a function depending on the speed of the mouse scroll for example when i scroll the mouse normally i want to perform function 1 and when i scrolled the mouse very quickly i want to perform the function 2. In other words is there any way to distinguish between the mouse scroll high and normal speed. Any advice will be appreciated.

  I have some legacy python scripts that manage my shell environment for all the programs and plugins I am running on Linux (bash) and windows (cmd.exe). I want to port this to powershell. How do I set environment variables in powershell by calling python script that prints $env:myVar=myvalue and causes my environment variable to persist in the powershell. In Bash I can use a bash function to call my python script which prints export var=value to stdout and the function will set the environment variables in my shell. This will also work in windows cmd shell by calling a .bat file. I cannot figure out how to do this in powershell.   I have a Linux/Ubuntu DLL that depends on libboost_thread-mt.so.1.38.0 (As shown in the picture below). I've tried various ways including building my own version of LibBoost 1.38.0 yet none of my methods have worked. I was wondering if 1.38.0 is available precompiled on earlier versions of Ubuntu or if my architecture (64 Bit) is not compatible with LibBoost.   Hi guys, I'm here to ask you the difference between a process and a thread in linux. I know that a thread for linux is just a "task", which shares with the father process things that they need to have in common (the address space and other important informations). I also know that the two are creating calling the same function ('clone()'), but there's still something that I'm missing: what really happens when a thread exit? What function is called inside the linux kernel? I know that when a process exits calls the do_exit function, but here or somewhere else there should be a way to understand if it is just a thread exiting or a whole process. Can you explain me this thing or redirect to some textbook?? I tried 'Understanding the linux kernel' but I was not satisfied with it. I'm asking this thing because a need to add things to the task_struct struct, but I need to discriminate how to manage those informations for a process and its children. Thank you.

• Read Text From Windows Form

  I would like, if for no other reason that an academic exercise, to be able to read text written to a form on a Windows Application. The program appears to be written in non-.NET, but in .NET terms, I think you would describe the program as having a Form with a Label and I would like to read the text from that label. I believe I can see that text being written to the screen with the User32!TextOut (and in other areas User32!DrawString) function. However, it would be nice if I didn't have to hook that function to get the information I'm looking for, but instead if I could just read it from the form directly. So, given a handle to a Window, is it possible to read the text that has been written to that window with functions like TextOut and DrawString using some similar API or other clever means? Or am I going about this the wrong way? Should I just hook the function and look for the text in every call and pray? Thanks!

• Mixing Matplotlib patches with polar plot?

  I'm trying to plot some data in polar coordinates, but I don't want the standard ticks, labels, axes, etc. that you get with the Matplotlib polar() function. All I want is the raw plot and nothing else, as I'm handling everything with manually drawn patches and lines. Here are the options I've considered: 1) Drawing the data with polar(), hiding the superfluous stuff (with ax.axes.get_xaxis().set_visible(False), etc.) and then drawing my own axes (with Line2D, Circle, etc.). The problem is when I call polar() and subsequently add a Circle patch, it's drawn in polar coordinates and ends up looking like an infinity symbol. Also zooming doesn't seem to work with the polar() function. 2) Skip the polar() function and somehow make my own polar plot manually using Line2D. The problem is I don't know how to make Line2D draw in polar coordinates and haven't figured out how to use a transform to do that. Any idea how I should proceed?
