• Is there a gentle way of stopping processes using Windows PowerShell?

  I have to stop a browser from a PowerShell script, which I do by piping it into Stop-Process -Force However, this is very abrupt. When the browser is restarted, it detects that it didn't shut down cleanly, and tries to restart the previous session. Is there some way I can tell it to shut itself down gracefully? • Is there a recommended logging path/folder for ASP.NEt applications?

  Currently we use log4net and create a new folder (usually below C:) with write and create access rights for the worker process user. Is there perhaps a standard windows folder we should or could be using such as LOCALAPPDATA? I'm guessing that LOCALAPPDATA is a bad choice in the general case because IIS users tend to be non-interactive users and thus I don't think they have the usual user folder structrues available.

• cleaning up expired sessions with a custom SessionStateStoreProvider

  I'm implementing my own SessionStateStoreProvider with a schemaless database. It's a little hard to tell from the documentation but it seems as though I will have to have a separate process for cleaning up expired sessions since the database will not have a way to notify the session state store that a session has expired. Am I wrong about this? I haven't seen an alternative example for overriding the SetItemExpireCallback method.

  Hi, I'm new to XPATH and I'd like to know if there is a nice way to do this using XPATH queries. I want to match consecutive sibling nodes in a XML tree to certain predefined rules for example if there are three sibling nodes occurring immediately one after the other and they have the attributes value="A", value="B" and value="C", I want the XPATH query to match the first node/last node in such a sequence and I want to extract all such consecutive sequence of nodes from the XML tree so that I can process them later on. A Website project does not have a .csproj file (not to be mixed up with Web Application which does).   I was thinking about creating making AIM pluggin that checks pandora one (desktop) or pandora website periodically to see what is currently playing and update a user's status.
