  • pyschool is wrong ?

    - by geekkid
    I'm currently learning python and trying to do exercises at pyschools (if anyone knows what it is). Anyway, i have an exercise that asks me to do the following : Write a function percent(value, total) that takes in two numbers as arguments, and returns the percentage value as an integer. Here's my code: def percent(value, total): percent = value / total * 100 return int(percent) It works great in my Python Idle and it gives all the correct answers. however, when i run it in the pyschools website, it says that , for example , when the function is called with parameters 46 and 90 , the function returns 0. However, in my python idle , it correctly returns 51. What might be the problem ? Thank you very much for your help!

  • check if username exists on form submit

    - by Developer
    This is my code. .js $(document).ready(function() { $("#username").focusout(function() { $.ajax({ type:'post', url:site_url()+'/client/checkUserName', data:{'username':$("#username").val()}, dataType:'json', success:function(result){ if(result != 'false'){ $('#message').text('Username exists'); } } }); }); .html <form id='form1' method="post"> <input type="text" name="username" id="username"/> <span id="message" style="color:red"></span> <input type="submit" value="submit" id="regis" class="btn"/> </form> Its working fine on focusout. How to make the form to not submit if username exists? Suppose there is a hidden field in the form say <input type="text" hidden id="type" value="<?php echo $type;?>"> Then if value exists in the hidden field then the username neednot be checked if already exists or not.

  • c++ Array passing dilemma

    - by Thomas
    Hi, I am writing a function that takes a string, string pointer and an int. The function splits the string based on a set of rules and puts each token into an array. I need to return the array out of the function with the number of elements in the int variable etc. I am stuck as to how I return the array as I can not use auto other wise it is destroyed and I am reluctant to use new as I feel this is patchy. I have other ideas on how to go about this but would like to see how other people go about this first. I could also be wrong and it could be possible to pass an auto out of an array. I can also not use vectors so there goes a copy constructor.

  • OCaml Summation

    - by Supervisor
    I'm trying to make a function in OCaml which does the summation function in math. I tried this: sum n m f = if n = 0 then 0 else if n > m then f else f + sum (n + 1) m f;; However, I get an error - "Characters 41-44: else f * sum(n + 1) m f;; Error: Unbound value sum and sum is underlined (has carrot signs pointing to it) I looked at this: Simple OCaml exercise It's the same question, but I see a lot of other things that I do not have. For example, for my n = m case, I do not have f n and then in the else case, I do not have f m. Why do you need f n if you want the function to return an integer? D: What's the problem!? Thanks in advance.

  • how could I pass closure problems in order to increment a global var

    - by hyptos
    I have a simple goal, I would like to increment a variable but I'm facing the closure problem. I've read why this s happening here How do JavaScript closures work? But I can't find the solution to my problem :/ let's assume this part of code I took from the link. function say667() { // Local variable that ends up within closure var num = 666; var sayAlert = function() { alert(num); //incrementation } num++; return sayAlert; } I would like to increment num within the function and to keep the changes to num. How could I do that ? Here is the JsFiddle where I have my problem, I can't figure out how to increment my totalSize and keep it. http://jsfiddle.net/knLbv/2/ I don't want a local variable that ends up with closure.

  • Technical details for Server 2012 de-duplication feature

    - by syneticon-dj
    Now that Windows Server 2012 comes with de-duplication features for NTFS volumes I am having a hard time finding technical details about it. I can deduce from the TechNet documentation that the de-duplication action itself is an asynchronous process - not unlike how the SIS Groveler used to work - but there is virtually no detail about the implementation (algorithms used, resources needed, even the info on performance considerations is nothing but a bunch rule-of-thumb-style recommendations). Insights and pointers are greatly appreciated, a comparison to Solaris' ZFS de-duplication efficiency for a set of scenarios would be wonderful.

  • jQuery dialog box not opening 2nd time

    - by Steven
    I found this thread which basically has the same issue I have. But their solution is not working for me. The dialog appears the first time I click the submit button, but not the 2nd time. I'm opening the dialog box after a form submission. UPDATE I finally got it working. Here is the correct code: if (jQuery('#registrationforms').length > 0) { //instantiate the dialog jQuery("#dialog").dialog({ modal:true, autoOpen:false }); //Some more code here to call processRegistration function. } function processRegistration(instanceID, formData) { jQuery.post("mypath/jquery_bll.php", { instance: 'processRegistration', formData : formData, instanceID : instanceID }, function(feedback) { jQuery('#dialog').text(feedback.message); jQuery('#dialog').parent().addClass(feedback.type); jQuery('#dialog').dialog('open'); },"json"); } Since I'm dynamically applying css class, I have to make sure to add it to the outer DIV which $.dialog creates to wrap my 'dialog' DIV.

  • Missing something with Reader monad - passing the damn thing around everywhere

    - by Richard Huxton
    Learning Haskell, managing syntax, have a rough grasp of what monads etc are about but I'm clearly missing something. In main I can read my config file, and supply it as runReader (somefunc) myEnv just fine. But somefunc doesn't need access to the myEnv the reader supplies, nor do the next couple in the chain. The function that needs something from myEnv is a tiny leaf function. So - how do I get access to the environment in a function without tagging all the intervening functions as (Reader Env)? That can't be right because otherwise you'd just pass myEnv around in the first place. And passing unused parameters through multiple levels of functions is just ugly (isn't it?). There are plenty of examples I can find on the net but they all seem to have only one level between runReader and accessing the environment.

  • Two buttons in a form, Both called

    - by coffeeaddict
    Here's my ASP.NET form. When I click one button it calls both jQuery functions. It's probably a rudimentary HTML question but I'm not sure why: <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div id="testDialog"> </div> <p><input type="button" id="invoke1" value="test 1" /></p> <input type="button" id="invoke2" value="test 2" /> </form> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("input:invoke1").click(function(){ showSomething("testDialog"); }); $("input:invoke2").click(function(){ showSomething2("test.aspx", options); }); }); </script>

  • JQuery - remove the chars not matching regEx

    - by JQueryBeginner
    Hi All, I am trying to use jquery for validating forms. This is the pattern that is allowed in a text box for a user. var pattern = /^[a-zA-Z0-9!#$&%*+,-./: ;=?@_]/g; If the user types anything else other than this then that has to be replaced with a "". $(document).ready(function() { $('#iBox').blur(function() { var jVal = $('#iBox').val(); if(jVal.match(pattern)) { alert("Valid"); } else { alert("New "+jVal.replace(!(pattern),"")); } }); }); }); But the replace function does not work this way.

  • What is the best way to expose a callback API - C++

    - by rursw1
    Hi, I have a C++ library that should expose some system\ resource calls as callbacks from the linked application. For example: the interfacing application (which uses this library) can send socket management callback functions - send, receive, open, close etc., and the library will use this implementation in stead of the library's implementation. (This way enables the application to manage the sockets by itself, can be useful). This library has to expose also more callbacks, like, for example, a password validation, so I wonder if there is a preferred method to expose the callback sending option in one API. Something like: int AddCallbackFunc (int functionCallbackType, <generic function prototype>, <generic way to pass some additional arguments>) Then within my library I will assign the callback to the appropriate function pointer according to the functionCallbackType parameter. Is there any way to implement it in a generic way which will fit ANY function prototype and ANY additional arguments? Your help will be more than appreciated... Thanks!

  • How does R treat positional arguments

    - by inspectorG4dget
    I'm a python guy and very new to R (so far, all I've done is copy-paste code and screen-shot the resulting, graph). I would now like to actually learn the language so that I can draw useful plots (right now, I am trying to plot this). In attempting my first plot, I came across this function call: sets_options("universe", seq(from = 0, to = 25, by = 0.1)) Now, I would like to know if I can achieve the same result by calling sets_options("universe", seq(0, 25, 0.1)) The help page for seq doesn't speak to this specifically (or I'm not reading it correctly), so I was hoping someone could shed some light on how R handles positional arguments I tried calling the function that way in R and it worked (no syntax errors, etc), but I don't know how to test the output of that function, so I'm forced to ask here

  • jQuery Supersized Plugin callback when slideshow finishd

    - by Nic Hubbard
    I am using the Supersized jQuery plugin which makes images fullscreen and also implements a slideshow. Currently, this plugin does not have a callback for when the slideshow is finished, rather, it just continually repeats. Is there a way that I could trigger a function after the last slide is shown? Currently, I have it working to trigger a function when the last slide STARTS to be shown, as I have a setInterval which checks for the "last" class on the slideshow images. But, this runs the function when that last slide starts, not when it is finished. Does anyone have ideas on how I could accomplish this?

  • Ampersand in JSON/PHP in POST

    - by svenkapudija
    I'm having a text field which is send via JSON and jQuery (wrapped with .toJSON function) to my server via AJAX and POST request. On PHP side I'm doing json_decode . Everything works but if I put ampersand (&) inside it splits up the POST parameter so its incomplete on PHP side (at least what var_dump($_POST) is writing out). Shouldn't the toJSON and json_decode do all the job (escaping)? I tried encodeURIComponent, & to &amp;, & to \u0026 and it's not working. What I'm doing wrong? AJAX call function execute() { this.setupUrl(); return $.ajax({ type: this.requestMethod, data: this.getDataParams(), url: this.url }); } function getDataParams() { if(this.data != undefined) { if(this.requestMethod == 'POST' || this.requestMethod == 'PUT') { return "data=" + $.toJSON(this.data); } else if (this.requestMethod == 'GET') { return this.data; } } else { return null; } }

  • Breaking from for loop in MATLAB GUI

    - by Nick
    I have a for loop in the opening function of a GUI in MATLAB and I'm trying to use a callback button to break the loop. I'm new to MATLAB. Here's the code I have: %In the opening function of the GUI handles.stop_now = 0; for i=1:inf if handles.stop_now==1 break; end end % Executes on button press function pushbutton_Callback(hObject, eventdata, handles) % hObject handle to end_segmenting_button (see GCBO) % eventdata reserved - to be defined in a future version of MATLAB % handles structure with handles and user data (see GUIDATA) handles.stop_now=1; guidata(hObject, handles); For some reason, despite defining the variables with handles, the loop doesn't break upon pressing the button. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks.

  • MVC partial page update

    - by GB
    Hello, I have an MVC project where I have a form with fields a user can enter and save. On that same page I have a table which shows a brief listing of information that the user just saved. The problem I am having is trying to update only the table after a save and not an entire page refresh. Is this possible in jquery or MVC? If so does anyone have an example. Here is what the action in the controller looks like: public ActionResult RefreshList() { string _employeeID = Request.QueryString["empIDSearch"]; this.ViewData["coursehistorylist"] = _service.ListCoursesByEmpID(_employeeID); return View("CourseHistoryList"); } The function in the view: (and this is where I'm confused on how to update only the table) $.ajax({ url: "/Home/RefreshList", type: "POST", success: function(result) { alert("got here"); }, error: function(xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError) { alert(xhr.status + " " + thrownError + " " + ajaxOptions); } }); Thanks.

  • jquery ui autcomplete does not disapper with no result

    - by mike
    Hi, I'm using jquery ui autocomplete with the following code: $('#company').autocomplete({ source: function(request, response) { var company_name = $('#company').val(); $.ajax({ type: 'post', url: 'http://new.admin.localhost/client/helper/lookup_company_name', cache: false, data: { company : company_name }, dataType: 'json', success: function(data) { //alert(data); response($.map(data.companies, function(item) { return { label: item.company, value: item.company } })) } }) }, minLength: 2, }); This works as expected... The problem is, if the first few chars match something and then you enter a char that should "break" any match, it just keeps the drop down in place with the results for the last matched char... make sense? Would this be something I needed to change in the script that returns the data or something in the jquery? thanks!
