  • Deploy with rsync(or svn, git, cvs) and ignore inconsistent state during deployment?

    We are currently talking about deploying a website via rsync. However, during rsyncing the application is left in an inconsistent state, as some files may already be synced while others still are left with the old version right? How do people deal with this issue? I guess the same problem exists when deploying via svn/git/cvs. Should I just close the site, rsync, and open up again? Or do people simply ignore this inconsistency problem?

    If my .gitignore file has tmp\ in it and I do a git add file.test from tmp, Git adds file.test to the repository. If file.test never changes, than this is as good as a one time add to the repository, right? Say for static files that I want to be in version control. You want the file in an initial clone and that's it. I assume file.test doesn't get tracked, so if there are updates, Git doesn't see it as modified?

I've found sample code (I'm new to dojo) that adds a new item to the tree using the newItem method of ItemFileWriteStore, but the new item always appears at the bottom of the tree.     I have an Interop assembly lying in GAC; Windows Explorer clearly shows it listed in the C:\WINDOWS\assembly folder. Yet, when I try to add a reference to it in from Visual Studio, I can't see it anywhere in the Add Reference dialog. If this is happened to you too, what is the reason for this? And how do I fix this? (The assembly is actually located in C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL folder, if you must know.)
