• How to crop black bars or zoom on Youtube and other Video websites?

  Many desktop software (VLC, MPC) and have an option to 'zoom in' , 'crop black bars', or crop to a specific aspect ratio. How can we do this in Fullscreen on Youtube or other flash Video sites? I am the viewer, NOT the video's creator/publisher. iOS Can do this (double tap to zoom, which removes black bars, zoom depth not configurable). afaik, Desktop computers (and android devices), cannot do this on the fly. The only 'workaround' I've found is F11 and zooming of the entire web page - basically a fake full screen and zooming the web page beyond the screen size. Use Case: watching 4:3 flash videos from the web on a widescreen monitor. Looking for all creative solutions, including any software that accesses YouTube without using a web browser.

  I have implemented the MKAnnotation as below. I will put a lot of pins and the information for each of those pins are stored in an array. Each member of this array is an object whose properties will give the values for the title and subtitle of the pin. Each object corresponds to a pin. • Trouble accessing network drives in Windows 7

  Hi, Recently purchased a LaCiE network drive. Connected it to my router, configured it, added a user for myself. Installed the "Network Assistant" that came with it - no problem. Went to My Computer Network, found the network drive - was prompted for a login/password to see the contents, types \user and password (leading slash to get rid of DOMAIN) and accesses contents. There is one open share that I can access/mount without problem and there's another share with my user name as set-up via the network drive's web-based config. Double-clicked on that, prompted again. user/password doesn't work! It says I have no permissions but the user/pass combination is PERFECT. Some Windows Vista posts talk about a Local Security Policy menu - but that's nowhere to be found. Any ideas? (Windows 7 Professional BTW).

I guess I'm missing vital parts of memory management knowledge and I will definitely look into it thoroughly.

  Hi all, Say if I have an array and I want to check if an element is a part of that array, I can go ahead and use in_array( needle, haystack ) to determine the results. I am trying to see the PHP equivalent of this for my purpose. Now you might have an instant answer for me and you might be tempted to say "Use IN". Yes, I can use IN, but that's not fetching the desired results. Let me explain with an example: I have a column called "pets" in DB table. For a record, it has a value: Cat, dog, Camel (Yes, the column data is a comma separated value). Consider that this row has an id of 1. Now I have a form where I can enter the value in the form input and use that value check against the value in the DB. So say I enter the following comma separated value in the form input: CAT, camel (yes, CAT is uppercase & intentional as some users tend to enter it that way). Now when I enter the above info in the form input and submit, I can collect the POST'ed info and use the following query: $search = $_POST['pets']; $sql = "SELECT id FROM table WHERE pets IN ('$search') "; The above query is not fetching me the row that already exists in the DB (remember the record which has Cat, dog, Camel as the value for the pets column?). I am trying to get the records to act as a superset and the values from the form input as subsets. So in this case I am expecting the id value to show up as the values exist in the column, but this is not happending. Now say if I enter just CAT as the form input and perform the search, it should show me the ID 1 row. Now say if I enter just camel, cAT as the form input and perform the search, it should show me the ID 1 row. How can I achieve the above? Thank you.

• On Windows, what filename extensions denote an executable?

  On Windows, *.exe, *.bat, *.cmd, and *.com all represent programs or shell scripts that can be run, simply by double-clicking them. Are there any other filename extensions that indicate a file is executable? EDIT: When I jump into a new project (or back into an old project!), one of the common things I want to do when looking around is to find out what tools there are. On Unix (which I've used for decades), there's an execute bit, so this is as simple as: find . -executable -type f I figured that on Windows, which seems to have a much more complex mechanism for "is this executable (and how do I execute it)", there would be a relatively small number of file name extensions which would serve roughly the same purpose. For my current project, *.exe *.bat *.cmd is almost certainly sufficient, but I figured I'd ask if there was an authoritative list.

  I have a small Foundation application that checks a website and plays a sound if it sees a certain value. This application successfully plays a sound when I run it as my user from the Terminal. • Image Grabbing with False Referer

  Hey guys, I'm struggling with grabbing an image at the moment... sounds silly, but check out this link :P http://manga.justcarl.co.uk/A/Oishii_Kankei/31/1 If you get the image URL, the image loads. Go back, it looks like it's working fine, but that's just the browser loading up the cached image. The application was working fine before, I'm thinking they implemented some kind of Referer check on their images.   Environment: Windows 7, MS Office 2007, OpenOffice In the Control Panel-Fonts section, there are a number of fonts available, sometimes as families. For example, the Arial family (double click on it) shows both Arial and Arial Narrow. The Arial one has a few different versions, like "Arial Bold" and "Arial Bold Italic" and "Arial Italic". The Cambria font is the similar. When, if at all, are these Bold, Italic, etc. versions of these fonts ever used? In MS Office and OpenOffice they they are not available to choose from. Any insights on if I even need to keep them on my system at all?

• sox mix nested scripts on amazon ec2 rhel linux

  I'm trying to use "sox" to mix some audio files. The command works great on my Mac terminal sox -m audio.wav "| sox upload.wav -p trim 2 1 pad 6" final.wav This mixes (not concatenate) audio.wav and a section of upload.wav from the 2nd second to the 3rd second and adds 6 seconds of padding in the front, and outputs to final.wav Now the problem is, the SAME EXACT command does NOT work my Amazon EC2 RHEL box. (sox is installed correctly). I get the following error sox soxio: Can't open input file `| sox upload.wav -p trim 2 2 pad 6': No such file or directory For some reason RedHat doesn't like the double quotes. Even though it is documented to be used this way. Thanks for your help!

• How to restore from file using Symantec NetBackup 7.5

  I have an install of Symantec NetBackup 7.5 and I want to restore the server from a NetBackup image file. The file was created using NetBackup before I arrived. We had a hardware failure that corrupted this server and it needed to be rebuilt, now we want to restore from this image file. I can't for the life of me figure out how to restore from that file. I've installed the NetBackup application but it can't find the file when using the restore command within the application. If I double-click the file it opens the application then gives me the same "can't find any NetBackup files" error. I also can't simply drag the file into the NetBackup window. Any advice on how I restore from this file would be appreciated, thank you.

• How to configure Postfix client relay to Exchange 2010 server

  I'm getting (delivery temporarily suspended: SASL authentication failed; server myserver.com[xxx.xxx.xxx.x] said: 535 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful) when I try to relay mail from Postfix 2.5.5-1.1 on Debian Lenny box to Exchange 2010. I think I tried all possible combinations but I'm definitely missing something. Here is relevant part of main.cf: broken_sasl_auth_clients = yes smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous smtp_sasl_password_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd smtp_pix_workarounds = smtp_sasl_type = cyrus smtp_always_send_ehlo = yes relayhost = myserver.com And I got libsasl2-modules installed. Anybody managed to successfully relay mail between Postfix and Exchange? Oh, and I already double-checked if password is right.

  Hi I'm working with C and I have a question about assigning pointers. struct foo { int _bar; char * _car[MAXINT]; // this is meant to be an array of char * so that it can hold pointers to names of cars } int foofunc (void * arg) { int bar; char * car[MAXINT]; struct foo thing = (struct foo *) arg; bar = arg->_bar; // this works fine car = arg->_car; // this gives compiler errors of incompatible types in assignment } car and _car have same declaration so why am I getting an error about incompatible types? My guess is that it has something to do with them being pointers (because they are pointers to arrays of char *, right?) but I don't see why that is a problem. when i declared char * car; instead of char * car[MAXINT]; it compiles fine. but I don't see how that would be useful to me later when I need to access certain info using index, it would be very annoying to access that info later. in fact, I'm not even sure if I am going about the right way, maybe there is a better way to store a bunch of strings instead of using array of char *?

• TextArea being used as an itemEditor misbehaves when the enter key is pressed

  I've declared 2010 to be the year of higher-order programming, so I'm learning Haskell. The introduction has a slick quick-sort demo, and I thought, "Hey, that's easy to do in Perl". It turned to be easier than I expected. Note that I don't have to worry about whether my partitions ($less and $more) are defined. • How to get rid of diacritics on my keyboard?

  I searched Google and SU for my problem, but everybody seems to want to add diacritics, while I don't want them. I'm using Windows 7 and have a US keyboard installed, not the international version. Despite that some keys, like ", ^ and ~ are used for diacritics, which means that I have to type "SPACE to get a double quote. How do I get rid of this? My other PC, with the same settings, doesn't show this behavior. edit re Stefan's answer I don't see the icon Stefan refers to in my taskbar, probably because I have Classic Shell installed. But this is a screenshot of the Input Languages dialog, there are no other keyboards installed:

• Multiple items in a PHP shopping cart

  I'm in the progress of making a shopping cart in PHP. To check if a user has selected multiple products, I put everything in an array ($contents). When I output it, I get something like "14,14,14,11,10". I'd like to have something like "3 x 14, 1 x 11, 1 x 10". What is the easiest way to do that? I really have no clue how to do it.   I have been breaking my head for several days now trying to install Microsoft office 2010 through group policy. Unfortunately Microsoft decided it would be fun to release office without an MSI and so I either Need to create an msi for it or Need to install it through a logon script that would run the setup.exe from a network location. Any advise would be greatlly appreciated. I tried to create a script but even though I double click it and it runs properly, it does not seem to kick in when users log in or when the machine is turned on. Also is there an easy way to create an msi?

• Multiple Unpacking Assignment in Python when you don't know the sequence length

  The textbook examples of multiple unpacking assignment are something like: import numpy as NP M = NP.arange(5) a, b, c, d, e = M # so of course, a = 0, b = 1, etc. M = NP.arange(20).reshape(5, 4) # numpy 5x4 array a, b, c, d, e = M # here, a = M[0,:], b = M[1,:], etc. (ie, a single row of M is assigned each to a through e) (My Q is not numpy specfic; indeed, i would prefer a pure python solution.) W/r/t the piece of code i'm looking at now, i see two complications on that straightforward scenario: i usually won't know the shape of M; and i want to unpack a certain number of items (definitely less than all items) and i want to put the remainder into a single container so back to the 5x4 array above, what i would very much like to be able to do is, for instance, assign the first three rows of M to a, b, and c respectively (exactly as above) and the rest of the rows (i have no idea how many there will be, just some positive integer) to a single container, all_the_rest = []. I'm not sure if i have explained this clearly; in any event, if i get feedback i'll promptly edit my Question.

• Linksys EA3500 : use WAN port as WAN + LAN possible?

  I'm waiting for deliver of a Linksys EA3500 router. I was wondering if it was possible to get the WAN port act as normal WAN port (Internet IP) + LAN switch ? My problem is that my Internet box is in a room with NAS and PC, and the router will be in another room with TV, PS3 and PC. The Internet box have a 4 port Gigabit switch so one cable will plug from there to the router's WAN in the other room. The router will get the Internet IP from the Internet box, but will it be possible to have private network through this link too ? I could have a first network between the Internet box and the router, and another network form router and devices but that will do double NAT for nothing... Thanks for reading me and your help !
