• Struts2 Tiles in Google app engine

  I am trying to build an java web application using struts2 and tiles in Google App Engine. • JSP request parameter is returning null on a jsp include with Weblogic.

  Hello, I am having trouble with the jsp:include tag. I have code like the following: <jsp:include page="./Address.jsp"> <jsp:param value="30" name="tabIndex"/> <jsp:param value="true" name="showBox"/> <jsp:param value="none" name="display"/> </jsp:include> The page is included fine, but when I try to access the parameters on the Address.jsp page, they are null. I have tried accessing them the following ways (with jstl): <c:out value="${param.tabIndex}" /> <c:out value="${param['tabIndex']} /> <%= request.getParameter("tabIndex") %> <c:out value="${pageScope.param.tabIndex} /> ${param.tabIndex} etc... Here is the kicker, The above works fine in tomcat 5.5. However, when I deploy the application in Weblogic 10, it does not. Also, the code works fine in other areas of my application (on weblogic) just not a particular page. Any Ideas? Thanks!

• Using MongoDB's map/reduce to "group by" two fields

  I need something slightly more complex than the examples in the MongoDB docs and I can't seem to be able to wrap my head around it. Say I have a collection of objects of the form {date: "2010-10-10", type: "EVENT_TYPE_1", user_id: 123, ...} Now I want to get something similar to a SQL GROUP BY query, grouping over both date and type. That is, I want the number of events of each type in each day. Also, I'd like to make it unique by user_id, ie. if a user has more events in the same day, count it only once. I'm trying to do this with map/reduce. I do db.logs.mapReduce(function() { emit(this.type, 1); }, function(k, vals) { var total = 0; for (var i = 0; i < vals.length; i++) total += vals[i]; return total; }}) which nicely groups by type, but now, how can I group by date at the same time? Seems the key in emit() can't be an array (I thought about doing emit([this.date, this.type], 1)). Also, how can I ensure the per-user uniqueness? I'm just starting with MongoDB and I'm still having trouble grasping the basic concepts. Also, there is not much documentation available out there. Any help from more experienced users is appreciated. Thanks!

  I am using a jQuery function to submit a form when a certain button is pressed, however this seems to have no effect on the form. • Important question about linq to SQL performance on high loaded web applications

  I started working with linq to SQL several weeks ago. I got really tired of working with SQL server directly through the SQL queries (sqldatareader, sqlcommand and all this good stuff).  After hearing about linq to SQL and mvc I quickly moved all my projects to these technologies. I expected linq to SQL work slower but it suprisongly turned out to be pretty fast, primarily because I always forgot to close my connections when using datareaders. Now I don't have to worry about it. But there's one problem that really bothers me. There's one page that's requested thousands of times a day. The system gets data in the beginning, works with it and updates it. Primarily the updates are ++ @ -- (increase and decrease values). I used to do it like this UPDATE table SET value=value+1 WHERE ID=@I'd It worked with no problems obviously. But with linq to SQL the data is taken in the beginning, moved to the class, changed and then saved. Stats.registeredusers++; Db.submitchanges(); Let's say there were 100 000 users. Linq will say "let it be 100 001" instead of "let it be increased by 1". But if there value of users has already been increased (that happens in my site all the time) then linq will be like oops, this value is already 100 001. Whatever I'll throw an exception" You can change this behavior so that it won't throw an exception but it still will not set the value to 100 002. Like I said, it happened with me all the time. The stas value was increased twice a second on average. I simply had to rewrite this chunk of code with classic ado net. So my question is how can you solve the problem with linq

  I'm working in c# doing some OCR work and have extracted the text I need to work with. Now I need to parse a line using Regular Expressions. string checkNum; string routingNum; string accountNum; Regex regEx = new Regex(@"\u9288\d+\u9288"); Match match = regEx.Match(numbers); if (match.Success) checkNum = match.Value.Remove(0, 1).Remove(match.Value.Length - 1, 1); regEx = new Regex(@"\u9286\d{9}\u9286"); match = regEx.Match(numbers); if(match.Success) routingNum = match.Value.Remove(0, 1).Remove(match.Value.Length - 1, 1); regEx = new Regex(@"\d{10}\u9288"); match = regEx.Match(numbers); if (match.Success) accountNum = match.Value.Remove(match.Value.Length - 1, 1); The problem is that the string contains the necessary unicode characters when I do a .ToCharArray() and inspect the contents of the string, but it never seems to recognize the unicode characters when I parse the string looking for them. I thought strings in C# were unicode by default.

  I've already read threads on the topic, but can't find a solution that fits. I'm working on a drop-down list that takes an enum and uses that to populate itself. i found a VB.NET one. During the porting process, I discovered that it uses DirectCast() to set the type as it returns the SelectedValue. See the original VB here: http://jeffhandley.com/archive/2008/01/27/enum-list-dropdown-control.aspx the gist is, the control has Type _enumType; //gets set when the datasource is set and is the type of the specific enum The SelectedValue property kind of looks like (remember, it doesn't work): public Enum SelectedValue //Shadows Property { get { // Get the value from the request to allow for disabled viewstate string RequestValue = this.Page.Request.Params[this.UniqueID]; return Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true) as _enumType; } set { base.SelectedValue = value.ToString(); } } Now this touches on a core point that I think was missed in the other discussions. In darn near every example, folks argued that DirectCast wasn't needed, because in every example, they statically defined the type. That's not the case here. As the programmer of the control, I don't know the type. Therefore, I can't cast it. Additionally, the following examples of lines won't compile because c# casting doesn't accept a variable. Whereas VB's CType and DirectCast can accept Type T as a function parameter: return Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true); or return Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true) as _enumType; or return (_enumType)Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true) ; or return Convert.ChangeType(Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true), _enumType); or return CastTo<_enumType>(Enum.Parse(_enumType, RequestValue, true)); So, any ideas on a solution? What's the .NET 3.5 best way to resolve this?

I've decided to always build complete tree in my PAGE scope component since building this tree is quite expensive operation. I have boolean flag courseActive in the data wrapped by TreeNode<T>. Now I can't find the way to show courses node only if this flag is true.   From the specification 10.5.3 Volatile fields: The type of a volatile field must be one of the following: A reference-type. The type byte, sbyte, short, ushort, int, uint, char, float, bool, System.IntPtr, or System.UIntPtr. An enum-type having an enum base type of byte, sbyte, short, ushort, int, or uint. First I want to confirm my understanding is correct: I guess the above types can be volatile because they are stored as a 4-bytes unit in memory(for reference types because of its address), which guarantees the read/write operation is atomic. A double/long/etc type can't be volatile because they are not atomic reading/writing since they are more than 4 bytes in memory. Is my understanding correct? And the second, if the first guess is correct, why a user defined struct with only one int field in it(or something similar, 4 bytes is ok) can't be volatile? Theoretically it's atomic right? Or it's not allowed simply because that all user defined structs(which is possibly more than 4 bytes) are not allowed to volatile by design?

  I am a real newbie at angular. I created something now which will let me retrieve and add items via angular and get/put them in mongodb. I use express and mongoose in the app The question is, how can i modify the data before it reaches the DOM in the controller. In this example i have created a way to retrieve data, and i get it exactly as it is stored in mongodb. What i would like is that the field where i store 1 or 0 in the database, to be shown as text. So if mongo has a value 1 i get "the value in mongo is 1" and when the field has a value of 0 get "the value is zero". (just as an example, i like other texts, but it illustrate what i want) I post my controller, html and current output. Any help would be appreciated. I like to change only the value of "aanwezig" in case the value of aanwezig is 0 or 1. firstname1 1 firstname2 0 Something else, but would be great to learn, is how i can do a specific mongodb query by the push of a button and get that result.

  Can PHP dissect its own syntax? For example, I'd like to write a function that takes in an input like $object->attribute and says to itself: OK, he's giving me $foo->bar, which means he must think that $foo is an object that has a property called bar. Before I try accessing bar and potentially get a 'Trying to get property of non-object' error, let me check whether $foo is even an object. The end goal is to echo a value if it is set, and fail silently if not. I want to avoid repetition like this: <input value="<? if(is_object($foo) && is_set($foo->bar)){ echo $foo->bar; }?> "/> ...and to avoid writing a function that does the above, but has to have the object and attribute passed in separately, like this: <input value="<? echoAttribute($foo,'bar') ?>" /> ...but to instead write something which: preserves the object-attribute syntax is flexible: can also handle array keys or regular variables Like this: <input value="<? echoIfSet($foo->bar); ?> /> <input value="<? echoIfSet($baz['buzz']); ?> /> <input value="<? echoIfSet($moo); ?> /> But this all depends on PHP being able to tell me "what kind of thing am I asking for when I say $object->attribute or $array[$key]", so that my function can handle each according to its own type. • JSF Float Conversion

  I'm using JSF 1.2 with IceFaces 1.8 in a project here. I have a page which is basically a big edit grid for a whole bunch of floating-point number fields. This is implemented with inputText fields on the page pointing at a value object with primitive float types Now, as a new requirement sees some of the fields be nullable, I wanted to change the value object to use Float objects rather than primitive types. I didn't think I'd need to do anything to the page to accomodate this. However, when I make the change I get the following error: /pages/page.xhtml @79,14 value="#{row.targetValue}": java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: argument type mismatch And /pages/page.xhtml @79,14 value="#{row.targetValue}": java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: java.lang.ClassCastException@1449aa1 The page looks like this: <ice:inputText value="#{row.targetValue}" size="4"> <f:convertNumber pattern="###.#" /> </ice:inputText> I've also tried adding in <f:convert convertId="javax.faces.Float" /> in there as well but that doesn't seem to work either! Neither does changing the value object types to Double. I'm sure I'm probably missing something really simple but I've been staring at this for a while now and no answers are immediately obvious!

So I am passing that date from front C#.net, in the below format: 2011-01-01 12:17:51.967 to do this I have written: presentation layer: string date = DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.fff", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); PropertyClass prp=new PropertyClass(); Prp.TransDate=Convert.ToDateTime(date); PropertyClass structure: Public class property { private DateTime transdate; public DateTime TransDate { get { return transdate; } set { transdate = value; } } } From DAL layer passing the TransactionDate like this: Cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@TranSactionDate”, SqlDbType.DateTime).value=propertyobj.TransDate; While debugging from presntation layer: string date = DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.fff", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); in this I am getting correct expected date format, but when debugs goes to this line Prp.TransDate=Convert.ToDateTime(date); again date format changing to 1/1/2011. But my backend sql datefield wants the date paramter 2011-01-01 12:17:51.967 in this format otherwise throwing exception invalid date format. Note: While passing date as string without converting to datetime getting exceptions like: System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlTypeException: SqlDateTime overflow. • Where is default location where tracelistener writes txt logs

  Hey guys, i want to log some traces in my service. When i set initializeData to a location in the d: partition, i can write with no problems. When i set the initializeData to c:\, it doesn't write at all. Now i was wondering 2 things : 1) Does my service not have the rights to write to c:\ partition? 2) if i don't specify the partition, where does it write to?
