  • How to make double[,] x_List in C#3.0?

    - by Newbie
    I ned to implement the multi-linear regression in C#(3.0) by using the LinESt function of Excel. Basically I am trying to achieve =LINEST(ACL_returns!I2:I10,ACL_returns!J2:K10,FALSE,TRUE) So I have the data as below double[] x1 = new double[] { 0.0330, -0.6463, 0.1226, -0.3304, 0.4764, -0.4159, 0.4209, -0.4070, -0.2090 }; double[] x2 = new double[] { -0.2718, -0.2240, -0.1275, -0.0810, 0.0349, -0.5067, 0.0094, -0.4404, -0.1212 }; double[] y = new double[] { 0.4807, -3.7070, -4.5582, -11.2126, -0.7733, 3.7269, 2.7672, 8.3333, 4.7023 }; I have to write a function whose signature will be Compute(double[,] x_List, double[] y_List) { LinEst(x_List,y_List, true, true); < - This is the excel function that I will call. } My question is how by using double[] x1 and double[] x2 I will make double[,] x_List ? I am using C#3.0 and framework 3.5. Thanks in advance

  • Background-image toggle using jquery

    - by Jon
    Hi all, bit of a jquery rookie here trying to get something to work. Basically I have a div with a class "nav" and inside that div is a nav list. I want to change the background-image of "nav" when hovering over an item in the navlist, so I made this unsuccesful effort: enter code here $(function(){ $("li#hover-first").mouseover(function(){ $("div.nav").removeClass("nav").addClass("navbg"); .mouseout(function(){$("div.nav").removeClass("navbg").addClass("nav"); }); So the idea is, once the first li item is hovered over, the div with classname "nav" has it's class removed and has "navbg" added (which has the alternate background image). Obviously this isn't working, so any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

  • Understanding a skelton of jQuery plugin

    - by TK
    At a website, I found the following code to make a jQuery plugin: (function($){ // Our code here... })(jQuery); I don't understand how the code above works. What I understand is that the code executes immediately because the very last () in function(){}(). So the entire code says that is an anonymous function that is run immediately. But I don't understand why the wrapping needs to pass jQuery and that inside it needs $ to be passed. From my understanding, $ is an alias to jQuery, meaning practically the same. What is the meaning of $ and jQuery here? How does the overall code work as a jQuery plugin?

  • PHP, MySQL, jQuery, AJAX: json data returns correct response but frontend returns error

    - by Devner
    Hi all, I have a user registration form. I am doing server side validation on the fly via AJAX. The quick summary of my problem is that upon validating 2 fields, I get error for the second field validation. If I comment first field, then the 2nd field does not show any error. It has this weird behavior. More details below: The HTML, JS and Php code are below: HTML FORM: <form id="SignupForm" action=""> <fieldset> <legend>Free Signup</legend> <label for="username">Username</label> <input name="username" type="text" id="username" /><span id="status_username"></span><br /> <label for="email">Email</label> <input name="email" type="text" id="email" /><span id="status_email"></span><br /> <label for="confirm_email">Confirm Email</label> <input name="confirm_email" type="text" id="confirm_email" /><span id="status_confirm_email"></span><br /> </fieldset> <p> <input id="sbt" type="button" value="Submit form" /> </p> </form> JS: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#email").blur(function() { var email = $("#email").val(); var msgbox2 = $("#status_email"); if(email.length > 3) { $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'check_ajax2.php', data: "email="+ email, dataType: 'json', cache: false, success: function(data) { if(data.success == 'y') { alert('Available'); } else { alert('Not Available'); } } }); } return false; }); $("#confirm_email").blur(function() { var confirm_email = $("#confirm_email").val(); var email = $("#email").val(); var msgbox3 = $("#status_confirm_email"); if(confirm_email.length > 3) { $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'check_ajax2.php', data: 'confirm_email='+ confirm_email + '&email=' + email, dataType: 'json', cache: false, success: function(data) { if(data.success == 'y') { alert('Available'); } else { alert('Not Available'); } } , error: function (data) { alert('Some error'); } }); } return false; }); }); </script> PHP code: <?php //check_ajax2.php if(isset($_POST['email'])) { $email = $_POST['email']; $res = mysql_query("SELECT uid FROM members WHERE email = '$email' "); $i_exists = mysql_num_rows($res); if( 0 == $i_exists ) { $success = 'y'; $msg_email = 'Email available'; } else { $success = 'n'; $msg_email = 'Email is already in use.</font>'; } print json_encode(array('success' => $success, 'msg_email' => $msg_email)); } if(isset($_POST['confirm_email'])) { $confirm_email = $_POST['confirm_email']; $email = ( isset($_POST['email']) && trim($_POST['email']) != '' ? $_POST['email'] : '' ); $res = mysql_query("SELECT uid FROM members WHERE email = '$confirm_email' "); $i_exists = mysql_num_rows($res); if( 0 == $i_exists ) { if( isset($email) && isset($confirm_email) && $email == $confirm_email ) { $success = 'y'; $msg_confirm_email = 'Email available and match'; } else { $success = 'n'; $msg_confirm_email = 'Email and Confirm Email do NOT match.'; } } else { $success = 'n'; $msg_confirm_email = 'Email already exists.'; } print json_encode(array('success' => $success, 'msg_confirm_email' => $msg_confirm_email)); } ?> THE PROBLEM: As long as I am validating the $_POST['email'] as well as $_POST['confirm_email'] in the check_ajax2.php file, the validation for confirm_email field always returns an error. With my limited knowledge of Firebug, however, I did find out that the following were the responses when I entered email and confirm_email in the fields: RESPONSE 1: {"success":"y","msg_email":"Email available"} RESPONSE 2: {"success":"y","msg_email":"Email available"}{"success":"n","msg_confirm_email":"Email and Confirm Email do NOT match."} Although the RESPONSE 2 shows that we are receiving the correct message via msg_confirm_email, in the front end, the alert 'Some error' is popping up (I have enabled the alert for debugging). I have spent 48 hours trying to change every part of the code wherever possible, but with only little success. What is weird about this is that if I comment the validation for $_POST['email'] field completely, then the validation for $_POST['confirm_email'] field is displaying correctly without any errors. If I enable it back, it is validating email field correctly, but when it reaches the point of validating confirm_email field, it is again showing me the error. I have also tried renaming success variable in check_ajax2.php page to other different names for both $_POST['email'] and $_POST['confirm_email'] but no success. I will be adding more fields in the form and validating within the check_ajax2.php page. So I am not planning on using different ajax pages for validating each of those fields (and I don't think it's smart to do it that way). I am not a jquery or AJAX guru, so all help in resolving this issue is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  • Data retrieval error in Jquery

    - by Ben
    I'm trying to retrieve data from a php file named return that contains <?php echo 'here is a string'; ?>. I'm doing this through an html file containing ` div { color:blue; } span { color:red; } var x; $.get("return.php", function(data){ x = data; }) function showAlert() {alert(x);} $(document).ready(function(){ alert(x); }); ` When the button is clicked it retrieves and displays the code fine, but on the page loading, it displays "undefined" instead of the data in return.php. Any solutions?

  • Compile a shared library statically

    - by Simon Walker
    I've got a shared library with some homemade functions, which I compile into my other programs, but I have to link the end program with all the libraries I have used to compile the static library. Here is an example: I have function foo in the library which requires a function from another library libbar.so. In my main program to use function foo I have to compile it with the -lbar flag. Is there a way I can compile my library statically so it includes all the required code from the other libraries, and I can compile my end program without needing the -lbar flag? Cheers

  • In Javascript, is there a technique where I can execute code after a return?

    - by Christopher Altman
    Is there a technique where I can execute code after a return? I want to return a value then reset the value without introducing a temporary variable. My current code is: function(a){ var b; if(b){ var temp = b; //I want to avoid this step b = false; return temp; }else{ b = a; return false; }; }; I want to avoid the temp var. Is that possible? var b holds a value between function calls because it is a memoization styled function.

  • jquery autocomplete on button click get hidden value

    - by gabriel
    using jquery autocomplete, we get hidden value by calling .result function like this $("#suggest").result(function(event, data, formatted) { $('#hidden').val(data[1]); }); This is only useful when we selected the option from autosuggest list and press enter. What i need is that i enter the option by typing the complete word without selecting it and clicking on Ok button? but i am always getting empty. <input type="text" id="suggest" /> <input type="button" value="Ok" onclick="GetValue()" /> <input type="hidden" id="hidden"/> function GetValue() { //get hidden field value - getting empty var hid=document.getElementById('hidden').value; }

  • Fluxbox compiling problems after making a change.

    - by Jack
    I'm trying to make the change here: http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php?title=Howto_Make_dblclick_titlebar_maximize I am using the current git version of the fluxbox source. I assume that those instructions are perhaps no longer valid for the current git version. In the void FluxboxWindow::setupWindow() function I can see no references to CommandRef or frame. I would like to know if it is possible that I could work out where they should go in that function, with only having a limited knowledge? I am still trying to learn programming and don't know enough just yet to work out where they should go. I assume I can't just paste in the suggested lines anywhere in that function, but why not? I can paste the source if needed, but I am unsure where to paste to.

  • Place an object on top of stack in ILGenerator

    - by KiNGPiN
    I have to pass a function an instance of an object, so obviously all the information to be taken as argument is to be loaded onto the evaluation stack Here is the code that i am looking for someClass SomeObject = new someClass(); il.Emit(OpCodes.LoadObject, SomeObject); il.Emit(OpCodes.CallVirt, MethodInfo Function); public void Function(Object obj) { Type type = typeof(obj); //do something w.r.t to the type } I dont require any information stored in the class just the type and i cannot use any of the primitive types to take my decision on Last i read that i can use a pointer to load the type using some opcodes ... but i am completely lost here, any help or pointers to the right direction would be great :)

  • strategy for observer pattern?

    - by fayer
    I want to use observer pattern for a logging system. We have got logObservers and logObservables. The class that will have to log something will implement iLogObservable and include these methods: private $logObservers = array(); public function addLogObserver($logObserver) { $this->logObservers[] = $logObserver; } public function removeLogObserver($logObserver) { $this->logObservers[] = $logObserver; } public function write($type, $message) { foreach($this->logObservers as $logObserver) { $logObserver->log($level, $message); ; } } Then I noticed, that a lot of classes that will use logging will have these methods and I have to copy paste. So isn't it better to have these methods in a class I call LogObservable or just Log and then use strategy (instantiate this class inside all classes that will have to log). When I change the methods in Log, all logObservables will be affected. However, I have not seen anyone use observer pattern with strategy pattern yet, but it seems to be very efficient and remove the duplications. What do you think?

  • Loop through JSON data Associatively

I have this so far: $.post('/controlpanel/search', { type: type, string: string }, function(data){ $.each(data, function() { $.each(this, function(index, itemData) { //alert(data.id) something like this //currently returns undefined }); }); }, 'json'); Example Json Code: [{"id":"1","title":"","link":"http:\/\/www.msn.com","date_added":"0000-00-00 00:00:00", "privacy_type":"0","user_id":"8","field2":"","field3":"","bookmark_id":"70","tag":"clean"}] Thanks all for any help

  • Web App fails when moved to production environment. Which server permissions do I need?

    - by Ashley Ward
    I have developed a small web app. This app allows users to upload images. It also produces text files with the names of those images (the names are stored and retrieved to/from an MySQL Database.) I have developed this app using MAMP. To create the uploaded image files I use the PHP function imagejpeg('my/path/name.jpg') and to delete the files I use the PHP function unlink('folder1/folder2/name.jpg') to write to the text document I am using the function fopen('folder1/folder2/name.txt', 'w') all three of these functions produce errors related to permissions - now the site has been moved to a live hosting environment. Why is this? and what permissions do I need to set the folder's folder1 and folder2 to? I know that permission 777 is generally bad because it opens up your server to the public. However what I have found is that the functions fail to work unless I use 777 on the folders. Can anyone shed any light on my dilemma?

  • does mysql stored procedures support data types like array, hash,etc?

    - by Yang
    i am creating a mysql function which takes in a varchar and change it to a int based on a mapping table. select name, convert_to_code(country) from users where sex = 'male' here, the convert_to_code() function takes in a country name (e.g. Japan, Finland..) and change it to country code which is an integer (e.g. 1001, 2310..) based on a mapping table called country_maping like below: country_name (varchar) | country_code (int) Japan | 1001 Finland | 2310 Canada | 8756 currently, the stored function need to select country_code from country_mapping where country_name = country_name and return the query result. is that possible to create a hash data struct in SP to optimize the process so that it will not need to perform the query for each row matches the where clause. thanks in advance!

  • JavaScript inheritance

    - by Tower
    Hi, Douglas Crockford seems to like the following inheritance approach: if (typeof Object.create !== 'function') { Object.create = function (o) { function F() {} F.prototype = o; return new F(); }; } newObject = Object.create(oldObject); It looks OK to me, but how does it differ from John Resig's simple inheritance approach? Basically it goes down to newObject = Object.create(oldObject); versus newObject = Object.extend(); And I am interested in theories. Implementation wise there does not seem to be much difference.

  • jQuery Address double load on init

    - by dazhall
    Hi All! I'm using jQuery Address to load in my content, but it's doing it twice on the init. I set it up so that if you go to the main category it loads the first image, but it's doing it twice and I'm not sure how to stop it. A fresh pair of eyes would be appreciated! $.address.init(function(event) { $('#carousel-clip a').address(); if(!event.pathNames[0]) { var url = $('#carousel-clip ul li:first a').attr('href').replace('#!/',''); $.address.path(url); } }).change(function(event) { if(event.pathNames[0]) { $.getJSON(location.pathname + 'image/' + event.pathNames[0] + '/', function(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest) { handler(data); }); } }); You can see it working here: http://bit.ly/cKftwA Thanks! • Problem understanding treesort in Haskell

    - by Jerry
    I am trying to figure out how exactly does treesort from here work (I understand flatten, insert and foldr). I suppose what's being done in treesort is applying insert for each element on the list thus generating a tree and then flattening it. The only problem I can't overcome here is where the list (that is the argument of the function) is hiding (because it is not written anywhere as an argument except for the function type declaration). One more thing: since dot operator is function composition, why is it an error when I change: treesort = flatten . foldr insert Leaf to treesort = flatten( foldr insert Leaf )?

  • JQuery: Get length of JSON reply?

    - by Rosarch
    In a JQuery getJSON call, how can I tell the length of the JSON that's returned? function refreshRoomList() { $.getJSON('API/list_rooms', function (rooms) { if (rooms.length > 0) { $("#existing-room-list").empty(); $("#join-existing-room").text("Join existing room:"); // this shouldn't be here $.each(rooms, function (index, roomName) { var newChild = sprintf('<li><a href="room?key=%s">%s</a></li>', index, roomName); $("#existing-room-list").append(newChild); }); } else { $("#join-existing-room").text("No rooms found."); } }); } For some reason this doesn't work, but if I replace rooms.length > 0 with true, the full list of rooms is printed out.

  • Question about AJAX

    - by Doug
    function showHint(str) { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { document.getElementById("games").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.open("GET","hw9.database.php?name="+str,true); xmlhttp.send(); } I'm learning AJAX at the moment. The code here basically receives the echo from the PHP and then puts it in element id games. My question is, if I wanted to have AJAX send 3 different http requests to 3 different PHP scripts and if I wanted to retrieve data from each one and then put it in 3 different element id's then would I make 3 copies of this same function? I would imagine that there should be a more efficient way. Thanks!

  • Prototype mouseleave for two elements

    - by TenJack
    I have created a small navigation element that is positioned right on top of another element. It is only shown when a user mousenters/mouseovers the main element. I am having some trouble with the prototype. I would like this small nav element to be hidden when a user mouses out of the main box, but I would also like the small nav element to remain visible if a user mouses out of the main box but mouses into the small nav at the same time. This is my attempt so far with some pseudo-code to hopefully explain: $('main_box').observe('mouseenter', function(){ $('small_div').show() }) $('main_box').observe('mouseleave', function(){ if this element is $('small_div') then Event.stop() $('small_div').observe('mouseleave', function(){ if this element is $('main_box') Event.stop observe $('main_box') mouseleave else $('small_div').hide(); }) else $('small_div').hide(); }) The main thing I'm having trouble with is figuring out what element the mouse is over at a given point in time. Is there a way to do something like: on mouseleave do blah unless the mouse is over a specific element then do not do blah?

(A.all('.datepcik').each(function() {)
