  I have two update panels at my ajax page. This is first time I'm using updatepanel and I don't know what is wrong. I think only btnFilter's Click event must trigger the second update panel's content but changing combo values (which also hides/unhides btnFilter button) makes second updatepanel change content (at least I see transferred data with firebug & second updatepanel blinks sometimes). Meaning, shouldn’t Bind() pass child control’s values to GridView ( so they can be passed to data source control as parameters ) before data source control updates the data source, thus before Page.PreRender event? thanx

If I try to draw a line with the same semitransparent color, it works perfectly. I was thinking it may be that SolidBrush does not support transparency, but I found a predefined brush named Transparent (Brushes.Transparent) that was a SolidBrush when I looked at it in debug. I tried to use Brushes.Transparent as the brush when drawing the text, and it was successfully not showing at all. That means I get full transparency to work, but not partial transparency.

• UpdatePanel, Repeater, DataBinding Problem

  In a user control, I've got a Repeater inside of an UpdatePanel (which id displayed inside of a ModalPopupExtender. The Repeater is databound using an array list of MyDTO objects. There are two buttons for each Item in the list. Upon binding the ImageURL and CommandArgument are set. This code works fine the first time around but the CommandArgument is wrong thereafter. It seems like the display is updated correctly but the DTO isn't and the CommandArgument sent is the one that has just been removed. Can anybody spot any problems with the code? • Validating DataAnnotations with Validator class

  I'm trying to validate a class decorated with dataannotation with the Validator class. It works fine when the attributes are applied to the same class. But when I try to use a metadata class it doesn't work. Is there anything I should do with the Validator so it uses the metadata class? • UpdatePanel not working in IE or Chrome

  I have an updatepanel on my masterpage. Within the contentplace holder I have my update progress control. When a user clicks on the button I load some data into a gridview. This works perfectly in FireFox. User clicks the button, the loading image in my updateprogress fires and loads the gridview. When I test this in IE 6 or 7 or in Chrome. It does a full postback and the updateprogress is never shown. So the updatepanel doesnt seem to be working in these two browsers. Code is below. But what will happen if I try to transfer a 4G file? will it load the whole file in memory in order to compress it? or otherwise it will compress it chunk by chunk? • Permission denied: cannot call non-public or static methods remotely.

  Ok I've found a solution to this particular error message on here already. But my case is slightly different. There are no "non-public" or "static" methods in my code. All are public. What I'm trying to do is pass a FrameworkElement (more specifically a web browser control) that was created in one process over to another process for display and use. Also I'm not using (and would to avoid using) any of the framework 3.5 addin stuff. Fails at the following line everytime. fe = FrameworkElementAdapters.ContractToViewAdapter(tab.ReturnBrowserObject) tab.ReturnBrowserObject returns an INativeHandleContract which the above line is suppose to convert to a FrameworkElement.

  Tables: Article, Author, Comment (1 article and 1 author can have * comments) In the database is 1 article, 1 author and 1 comment. The problem is, that code myBD my_bd = new myBD(); var articles = by_bd.Article; works OK, I can see that an Author and an Article has 1 comment. But that code var comm = (from u in my_bd.Comment where ...... select u); returns the comment but it has NULL values in property Article and Author. Why ?

  Hey all, i have this peice of code that allows a user to select a jpg image, resize it and uploads it to the server driectory. The problem being is that it reloads the aspx page when it saves the image. My question is-is there any way to do this same thing but with ajax so that it doesn't leave the page after submitting it? I've done this pleanty of times with classic asp pages but never with a aspx page. • Loading the 'pktgen' module on Ubuntu Server

  I would like to enable and use the pktgen module on Ubuntu Server. I have enabed the module by adding a line containing 'pktgen' to the /etc/modules file. After rebooting it seems that the module is successfully loaded because the directory /proc/net/pktgen exists. When I try this manually it fails as well: root@ubuntu:~# cd /proc/net/pktgen/ root@ubuntu:/proc/net/pktgen# touch eth4 touch: cannot touch `eth4': No such file or directory Can anyone help me make it work? I'm using Ubuntu version: 2.6.32-21-server. Fixed I apologize for keeping this post not up to date. I was able to fix it. If I remember well the cause of the error was that eth4 did not exist, or did not have the 'online' status. Anyway, it is fixed now.

• Any way for a class to prevent outside code from declaring variables of its type?

  Is it possible for a class of exposing a type for function returns, without allowing users of that class to create variables of that type? A couple usage scenarios: A Fluent interface on a large class; a statement like "foo=bar.WithX(5).WithY(9).WithZ(19);" would be inefficient if it had to create three new instances of the class, but could be much more efficient if the WithX could create one instance, and the other statements could simply use it. A class may wish to support a statement like "foo[19].x = 9;" even when foo itself isn't an array, and does not hold the data in class instances that can be exposed to the public; one way to do that is to have foo[19] return a struct which holds a reference to 'foo' and the value '19', and has a member property 'x' which could call "foo.SetXValue(19, 9);" Such a struct could have a conversion operator to convert itself to the "apparent" type of foo[19]. In both of these scenarios, storing the value returned by a method or property into a variable and then using it more than once would cause strange behavior. It would be desirable if the designer of the class exposing such methods or properties could ensure that callers wouldn't be able to use them more than once. Is there any practical way to accomplish that?
