• Changing CSS height property removes anchors?

- by JMan
I am working on a standard header/navigation for my website. I started with having a CSS "height" value of 100% for the html, body elements but this resulted in the wrong layout. However, when I change the CSS height property from "100%" to "auto", the layout is correct, but I lose the anchors in the navigation. Why is this? Here's my CSS: html,body { height: auto; /* This is the only property that I'm toggling */ margin: 0; } body { margin: 0; min-width: 978px; font: 12px/16px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000; background: #000001 url('../images/bg-body.jpg') no-repeat 50% 0; } #nav { position: relative; float: left; margin: 0; padding: 0 2px 0 271px; list-style: none; background: url('../images/sep-nav.gif') no-repeat 100% 0; } #nav li { float: left; padding: 11px 0 0 2px; height: 35px; width: 128px; line-height: 22px; font-size: 18px; text-align: center; background: url('../images/sep-nav.gif') no-repeat 0 -1px; display: inline; } #nav li a {color: #FFFEFE;} ..... I compared the computed CSS in Firebug when the html, body height property was set to "auto" vs. "100%" and they were the same. Can somebody please shed some light on how retain the anchors in the navigation while setting height to "auto"? Thanks for your help.

• Display an Android Sensors List

- by Skatephone
I'm trying to display a list of available sensors but it's like there are not! I was thinking that it was because of the emulator, but i tried it on the phone and the result is the same. private SensorManager mSensorManager; TextView mSensorsTot,mSensorAvailables; ...... public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); // Get the texts fields of the layout and setup to invisible mSensorsTot = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensoritot); mSensorAvailables = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensoridisponibili); // Get the SensorManager mSensorManager= (SensorManager) getSystemService(SENSOR_SERVICE); // List of Sensors Available List<Sensor> msensorList = mSensorManager.getSensorList(SensorManager.SENSOR_ALL); // Print how may Sensors are there mSensorsTot.setText(msensorList.size()+" "+this.getString(R.string.sensors)+"!"); // Print each Sensor available using sSensList as the String to be printed String sSensList = new String(""); Sensor tmp; int x,i; for (i=0;i<msensorList.size();i++){ tmp = msensorList.get(i); sSensList = " "+sSensList+tmp.getName(); // Add the sensor name to the string of sensors available } // if there are sensors available show the list if (i>0){ sSensList = getString(R.string.sensors)+":"+sSensList; mSensorAvailables.setText(sSensList); } } Thank's Valerio From Italy :)

• How can I set drawable to a ListView in android

- by sxingfeng
I am writing a app for android 1.5. I want to use a complex listview to display my data. I want to show a ImageView of a drawable object in my List item. I learned from a demo: ------> listData.put("Img", listData.put("Img", R.drawable.XXX)); listData.put("Time", "100"); listItems.add(listData); It can display correctly, however, I want to change Img at runtime, The image maybe generated at run-time, so I change the code as follow, but it falls. Can anyone help me ? many thanks! protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.item_list); itemListView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.listview); ArrayList<HashMap<String, Object>> listItems = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, Object>>(); for(int i = 0;i <XXX.size(); ++i) { HashMap<String, Object> listData = new HashMap<String, Object>(); ---------> 1) listData.put("Img", new Drawable(XXX)); 2) listData.put("Time", "100"); 3) listItems.add(listData); } SimpleAdapter listItemAdapter = new SimpleAdapter(this, listItems, R.layout.listitem, new String[] { "Img", "Time"}, new int[] { R.id.listitem_img, R.id.listitem_time }); itemListView.setAdapter(listItemAdapter); listitem.xml  <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:paddingBottom="4dip" android:paddingLeft="12dip" android:paddingRight="12dip"> <ImageView android:paddingTop="12dip" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/listitem_img" /> <TextView android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="20dip" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/listitem_time" /> </LinearLayout>

• Fixed div background

- by Fahad
I want to create a layout where I want to display an image to the left and content on the right. The image should stay constant when the content scrolls. The css I'm using: The HTML:

Alot of time on this site and I have understood that background-attachment:fixed positions the image in the entire viewport and not the element it is applied to. My question is how do I go about creating that kind of layout? I do not want to give that image as a background image, as if the window is resized, it might get hidden. I want scrollbars to appear if the window size is less than 900px( my page width) so that the image can be viewed at all times. That happens with this code, however I would like the image to start at my element instead. How do I go about doing this?? Thanks in Advance :)

• Event OnClick for a button in a custom notification

- by Simone
I have a custom notification with a button. To set the notification and use the event OnClick on my button I've used this code: //Notification and intent of the notification Notification notification = new Notification(R.drawable.stat_notify_missed_call, "Custom Notification", System.currentTimeMillis()); Intent mainIntent = new Intent(getBaseContext(), NotificationActivity.class); PendingIntent pendingMainIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(getBaseContext(), 0, mainIntent , 0); notification.contentIntent = pendingMainIntent; //Remoteview and intent for my button RemoteViews notificationView = new RemoteViews(getBaseContext().getPackageName(), R.layout.remote_view_layout); Intent activityIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_CALL, Uri.parse("tel:190")); PendingIntent pendingLaunchIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(getBaseContext(), 0, activityIntent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT); notificationView.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.button1, pendingLaunchIntent); notification.contentView = notificationView; notificationManager.notify(CUSTOM_NOTIFICATION_ID, notification); With this code I've a custom notification with my custom layout...but I can't click the button! every time I try to click the button I click the entire notification and so the script launch the "mainIntent" instead of "activityIntent". I have read in internet that this code doesn't work on all terminals. I have tried it on the emulator and on an HTC Magic but I have always the same problem: I can't click the button! My code is right? someone can help me? Thanks, Simone

• Drupal: Template Files, Modules and Content Types for Advanced Theme

- by theandym
Intro I am in the process of trying to convert my first HTML/CSS design into a theme for Drupal. I have used ModX for quite a few designs and appreciate the ability to create different page templates and custom variables to be assigned to those templates. However I seem to be having some issues making the transition. The site I am working on theming in Drupal is for a real estate agent. Each page/section will have a different set of content associated with it and will need to display only that content. For example, there will be a page for current listings, each of which will be formatted by a custom content type. However, when I call the content on the home page (or on other pages) I do not want to see this listing data. Layout The layout of the site and the regions associated with each page/section is as follows: Home Spotlight Featured 1 Featured 2 About Spotlight Bios - Profiles of each agent (each will be a node with name, contact info, pic, etc) listed on the page; multiple nodes listed Sidebar Listings Spotlight Listings - Profiles of properties (each will be a node with locations, basic info, pic, etc) listed on the page; multiple nodes listed Sidebar Services Spotlight Content - general paragraph text area Sidebar News/Blog News/Blog Items - List of stories with summaries and links to full article Sidebar Each page/section will use the same header and footer. Issue I have done some reading on Drupal, custom content types (and CCK), Views, and Pathauto. However I have not been able to get a clear picture of how to put it all together to accomplish what I am attempting. What I really would like to know is which modules to use, how best to use them, which elements I need to use where, and what template files I should be using to theme the elements I need to use. Any help or reference to useful resources would be much appreciated.

• Twig templates, inheritances and block usage

- by user846226
I've created three templates using Twig. The first one has block A defined in it, the second one extends from the first one, but includes a third template which sets the content of block A. When loading, through the browser, the url which renders b.html.twig, the content in block A (defined by the 3th template) is not positioned block _A is defined. Example: {% block _css '' %} {% block _header '' %} {% block _content '' %} {% block _footer '' %} {% block _js '' %} {% extends ::base.html.twig %} {% block _header %} {% render "MyBundleBundle:Header:header" %} {% endblock %} {% block _footer %} {% render "MyBundleBundle:Footer:footer" %} {% endblock %} {% extends MyBundleBundle::layout.html.twig %} {% block _content %} SOME_CONTENT {% include MyBundleBundle::my_included_template.html.twig %} {% endblock %} {% block _css %} <link.......................> {% endblock %} {% block _js %} <script..................> {% endblock %} MORE CONTENT BELONGING TO THE INCLUDED TEMPLATE What i expect here is, _css blocks content to appear on top of the page and _js block content at the bottom, but that's not happening. I hope you can see where i'm going wrong, thanks!

• How to fix this java.lang.LinkageError?

- by Péter Török
I am trying to configure a custom layout class to Log4J as described in my previous post. The class uses java.util.regex.Matcher to identify potential credit card numbers in log messages. It works perfectly in unit tests (I can also programmatically configure a logger to use it and produce the expected output). However when I try to deploy it with our app in JBoss, I get the following error: --- MBEANS THAT ARE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM --- ObjectName: jboss.web.deployment:war=MyWebApp-2010_02-SNAPSHOT.war,id=476602902 State: FAILED Reason: java.lang.LinkageError: java/util/regex/Matcher I couldn't even find any info on this form of the error - typically LinkageError seems to show up with a "loader constrain violation" message, like in here. Technical details: we use JBoss 4.2, Java 5, Log4J 1.2.12. We deploy our app in an .ear, which contains (among others) the above mentioned .war file, and the custom layout class in a separate jar file. We override the default settings in jboss-log4J.xml with our own log4j.properties located in a different folder, which is added to the classpath at startup, and is provided via Carbon. I can only guess: are two different Matcher class versions loaded from somewhere, or is Matcher loaded by two different classloaders when it is used from the jar and the war? What does this error message mean, and how can I fix it?

• ArrayAdapter and android:textFilterEnabled

- by TiGer
Hi there, I have created a layout which includes a ListView... The data shown within this ListView isn't too complicated, it's mostly an Array which is passed when the extended Activity is started... The rows themselves exist out of an icon and a text, thus an ImageView and a TextView... To fill up the ListView I use an ArrayAdapter simply because an Array is passed containing all the text-items that should be shown.. Now I'd like to actually be able to filter those, thus I found the android:textFilterEnabled paramater to add on the ListView xml declaration... Now a search field is shown nicely but when I enter some letters it won't filter but it will simply delete the whole list... I found out that that's because the textfilter has no idea what it should filter... So now my question is : I know I need to tell the textfilter what it should filter, I also still have my array filled with the text that should get filtered so how do i couple those two ??? I have seen examples extending a CursorAdapter, but again, I don't have a Cursor, I don't want to do calls to a DB I want to re-utilize my Array with data and obviously the ArrayAdapter itself so that the data will be represented decently on screen (i.e with my ImageView and TextView layout)... Thanks in advance for any help/pointers/tips/code...

• Margin on the top in LaTex

- by Tim
I am now writing a thesis which is required to have 1 and half inches on the left or binding side, and 1 inch on the other three sides. I just have my print-out checked in the binding office and I was told the margins are not okay, especially the one on the top is not enough, a little less than 1 inch. See the figure below: I wonder which commands are responsible for the margins on the four sides, especially for the one on the top? I provide links to two files I believe that control the layout and format of the thesis:jhu12.clo and thesis.cls. Or instead of modifying the LaTex files, is thre some setting when printing the pdf file to control these margins on the print-out? Thanks and regards! EDIT: This is the print-out of command \layout It shows "one inch + \voffset" for the top (the NO. 2 item). But the staff at the binding office use his ruler to show it is less than 1 inch. How to adjust the margins in LaTex then? Thanks!

• rotate an image aroound a point

- by Girish
Hi all, I have an image which is of rectangular dimension, eg 30 x 60 pixels I want to rotate this image around the bottom center of the image, i.e i want to set the pivot in the above example as (15, 60 )pixel. I am using a drawble and matrix to get this done, whatever i try i always end up rotating around center of the image. Code is : Bitmap bitmapOrg = BitmapFactory.decodeFile("/sdcard/DCIM/2010-06-01_15-32-42_821.jpg"); // float angle = (angle + 10.0f)%360.0f; if(null !=bitmapOrg) { int width = bitmapOrg.getWidth(); int height = bitmapOrg.getHeight(); int newWidth = 15; int newHeight = 15; // calculate the scale - in this case = 0.4f float scaleWidth = ((float) newWidth) / width; float scaleHeight = ((float) newHeight) / height; /* Canvas c = new Canvas(bitmapOrg); float px = ; float py; c.rotate(angle, px, py)*/ // createa matrix for the manipulation Matrix matrix = new Matrix(); // resize the bit map matrix.postScale(scaleWidth, scaleHeight); // rotate the Bitmap // matrix.postRotate(45); // recreate the new Bitmap Bitmap resizedBitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(bitmapOrg, 0, 0, width, height, matrix, true); // make a Drawable from Bitmap to allow to set the BitMap // to the ImageView, ImageButton or what ever BitmapDrawable bmd = new BitmapDrawable(resizedBitmap); ImageView imageView = new ImageView(this); // set the Drawable on the ImageView imageView.setImageDrawable(bmd); // center the Image imageView.setScaleType(ScaleType.CENTER); // imageView.layout(100, 300, 0, 0); // linLayout.addView(imageView); // add ImageView to the Layout linLayout.addView(imageView, new AbsoluteLayout.LayoutParams( LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, 10, 30 ) ); can anyone let me know how to get this rectified?

• Rails and Prawn PDF - add current item ID to filename?

- by dannymcc
Hi Everyone, I have two PDFs that are made "on the fly" using Prawn PDF. The PDFs are called jobsheet.pdf and discharge.pdf - their URL's are: railsroot/kases/IDNO/jobsheet.pdf railsroot/kases/IDNO/discharge.pdf I am trying to work out how to automagically append the filename with the ID number: railsroot/kases/IDNO/jobsheet_IDNO.pdf railsroot/kases/IDNO/discharge_IDNO.pdf To create the PDFs the code is as follows: Kases Controller def jobsheet @kase = Kase.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.html {} # jobsheet.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @kase } format.pdf { render :layout => false } prawnto :prawn => { :background => "#{RAILS_ROOT}/public/images/jobsheet.png", :left_margin => 0, :right_margin => 0, :top_margin => 0, :bottom_margin => 0, :page_size => 'A4' } end end # GET /kases/1 # GET /kases/1.xml def discharge @kase = Kase.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.html { } # discharge.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @kase } format.pdf { render :layout => false } prawnto :prawn => { :background => "#{RAILS_ROOT}/public/images/discharge.png", :left_margin => 0, :right_margin => 0, :top_margin => 0, :bottom_margin => 0, :page_size => 'A4' } end end Routes map.resources :kases, :member => { :discharge => :get } map.resources :kases, :member => { :jobsheet => :get } To view the PDF's I use the following links: jobsheet_kase_path(@kase, :format => 'pdf') discharge_kase_path(@kase, :format => 'pdf') Is this even possible? Thanks, Danny

• What are some typing patterns using a standard QWERTY keyboard that work well for you as a programme

- by OrbMan
After hunting and pecking for about 35 years, I have decided to learn to type. I am learning QWERTY and have learned about 2/3 of the letters so far. While learning, I have noticed how asymmeterical the keyboard is, which really bothers me. (I will probably switch to a symmetrical keyboard eventually, but for now am trying to do everything as standard and "correct" as possible.) Although I am not there yet in my lessons, it seems that many of the keys I am going to use as a C# web developer are supposed to be typed by the pinky of my right hand. Are there any typing patterns you have developed that are more ergonomic (or faster) when typing large volumes of code rife with braces, colons, semi-colons and quotes? Or, should I just accept the fact that every other key is going to be hit with my right pinky? It is not that speed is such a huge concern, as much as that it seems so inefficient to rely on one finger so much... As an example, some of the conventions I use as a hunt and pecker, like typing open and close braces right away with my index and middle finger, and then hitting the left arrow key to fill in the inner content, don't seem to work as well with just a pinky. What are some typing patterns using a standard QWERTY keyboard that work really well for you as a programmer? Update: US layout and I use home row Update 2: Despite my best efforts to the contrary, people are interpreting this questionas "how do I learn to type" or "what keyboard should I use". Take it as a given, that I will learn to type, and that I will be doing so on a standard QWERTY layout keyboard, not DVORAK. I am interested in aquiring a skill that will be useful wherever I go.

• How to use RelativeLayout to make a custom component on Android

- by Styggentorsken
I'm trying to make a custom component based on buttons without having to deal with all the layout myself. The problem is that i can't find a way to make use of RelativeLayout to draw the thing. This is my latest attempt. A bitmap is returned by layoutManager.getDrawingCache(), but it does not show any buttons. canvas.drawColor(...) however works. public class MyView extends View { Button myButton; RelativeLayout layoutManager; public MyView(Context context) { super(context); initMyView(); } public MyView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context); initMyView(); // ... } public void initMyView() { layoutManager = new RelativeLayout(getContext()); } @Override protected void onMeasure(int widthMeasureSpec, int heightMeasureSpec) { setMeasuredDimension( MeasureSpec.getSize(measureSpec), MeasureSpec.getSize(measureSpec) ); } @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { super.onDraw(canvas); myButton = new Button(layoutManager.getContext()); myButton.setVisibility(VISIBLE); myButton.setDrawingCacheEnabled(true); layoutManager.addView(myButton); layoutManager.setDrawingCacheEnabled(true); layoutManager.layout(0, 0, 150, 150); layoutManager.setVisibility(VISIBLE); layoutManager.buildDrawingCache(); layoutManager.draw(canvas); canvas.drawBitmap(layoutManager.getDrawingCache(), 0.0f, 0.0f, null); } }

• embedded SWF isn't shown (SWFLoader)

- by Trantec
I embed a swf as ByteArray and load it at runtime with the SWFLoader. Here is the internal swf that I want to load: <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute"> <mx:Label id="rLabel" text="From InternalSWF"/> </mx:Application> The embeding swf loads it with the following code: <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" applicationComplete="main();"> <mx:Script> import mx.managers.SystemManager; import mx.events.FlexEvent; [Embed(source="../../InternalSWF/bin-release/InternalSWF.swf", mimeType="application/octet-stream")] mimeType="application/octet-stream")] private const internalSWF:Class; public function main(): void { var binary:ByteArray = new internalSWF() as ByteArray; // setup swfloader rSwfLoader.trustContent = true; rSwfLoader.addEventListener( Event.COMPLETE, onSWFLoaded ); rSwfLoader.load(binary); } public function onSWFLoaded( event:Event ): void { } </mx:Script> <mx:Box> <mx:SWFLoader id="rSwfLoader" height="100%" width="100%" scaleContent="true"/> <mx:Text id="rText" text="from EmbedingSWF"/> </mx:Box> The label "from EmbedingSWF" is shown on both, local and on the webserver. But the label with "From InternalSWF" isn't shown on the webserver, just on the local machine. With some tests I found out that the internal swf is loaded correctly, because it's later added applicationComplete-Function is called. Is this a bug in Adobe-Flash-Player or am I missunderstanding something ? Update: Internet Explorer is fine. Firefox and Chrome not...

• Android - I can't make a widget clickable to launch an intent

- by Daniele
Hi all. I am new to Android development. I have developed a very simple widget that was meant to interact with the user via an ImageButton. What I am trying to do now is as follows. When a user taps the button (after adding the widget to their home screen), I want the phone to dial a certain telephone number. A sort of speed dial for your home screen. Unfortunately when I tap the button nothing happens. This is the body of my SpeedDialAppWidgetProvider.onUpdate method: Log.d("", "beginning of onUpdate"); final int N = appWidgetIds.length; for (int i=0; i<N; i++) { int appWidgetId = appWidgetIds[i]; Log.d("", "dealing with appWidgetId: " + appWidgetId); // Create an Intent to launch ExampleActivity Intent dialIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_CALL, Uri.parse("tel:1234567")); PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, dialIntent, 0); Log.d("", "pendingIntent classname " + pendingIntent.getClass().getName()); // Get the layout for the App Widget and attach an on-click listener to the button RemoteViews remoteViews = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.speed_dial_appwidget); remoteViews.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.dial_icon, pendingIntent); Log.d("", "remoteViews classname " + remoteViews.getClass().getName()); // Tell the AppWidgetManager to perform an update on the current App Widget appWidgetManager.updateAppWidget(appWidgetId, remoteViews); Log.d("", "end of onUpdate"); I can see the method is called and the result of the logging makes sense. The speed_dial_appwidget.xml file is like this: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" androidrientation="vertical" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <ImageButton id="@+id/dial_icon" android:src="@drawable/speed_dial" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> </LinearLayout> Can you please help me with this? Thanks in advance, Dan

• Perf4J Graph Output from Log File

- by manyxcxi
I currently have a long running process that I am trying to analyze with Perf4J. I currently have it writing results in CSV format to its own log file using the AsyncCoalescingStatisticsAppender and a StatisticsCsvLayout on the file appender. My question is; when I try and use the --graph option from the command line (using the perf4j jar) it isn't populating the data points- it isn't populating anything. Are my appenders set incorrectly? The log file contains hundreds (sometimes thousands) of data points of about 10 different tag names. <appender name="perfAppender" class="org.apache.log4j.FileAppender">  <layout class="org.perf4j.log4j.StatisticsCsvLayout"> </layout> </appender> <appender name="CoalescingStatistics" class="org.perf4j.log4j.AsyncCoalescingStatisticsAppender"> <!-- The TimeSlice option is used to determine the time window for which all received StopWatch logs are aggregated to create a single GroupedTimingStatistics log.     Note: This is an assignment Hi, I have the following class/constructor. import java.io.*; class Set { public int numberOfElements = 0; public String[] setElements = new String[5]; public int maxNumberOfElements = 5; // constructor for our Set class public Set(int numberOfE, int setE, int maxNumberOfE) { int numberOfElements = numberOfE; String[] setElements = new String[setE]; int maxNumberOfElements = maxNumberOfE; } // Helper method to shorten/remove element of array since we're using basic array instead of ArrayList or HashSet from collection interface :( static String[] removeAt(int k, String[] arr) { final int L = arr.length; String[] ret = new String[L - 1]; System.arraycopy(arr, 0, ret, 0, k); System.arraycopy(arr, k + 1, ret, k, L - k - 1); return ret; } int findElement(String element) { int retval = 0; for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { if ( setElements[i] != null && setElements[i].equals(element) ) { return retval = i; } retval = -1; } return retval; } void add(String newValue) { int elem = findElement(newValue); if( numberOfElements < maxNumberOfElements && elem == -1 ) { setElements[numberOfElements] = newValue; numberOfElements++; } } int getLength() { if ( setElements != null ) { return setElements.length; } else { return 0; } } String[] emptySet() { setElements = new String[0]; return setElements; } Boolean isFull() { Boolean True = new Boolean(true); Boolean False = new Boolean(false); if ( setElements.length == maxNumberOfElements ){ return True; } else { return False; } } Boolean isEmpty() { Boolean True = new Boolean(true); Boolean False = new Boolean(false); if ( setElements.length == 0 ) { return True; } else { return False; } } void remove(String newValue) { for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { if ( setElements[i].equals(newValue) ) { setElements = removeAt(i,setElements); } } } int isAMember(String element) { int retval = -1; for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++ ) { if (setElements[i] != null && setElements[i].equals(element)) { return retval = i; } } return retval; } void printSet() { for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { System.out.println("Member elements on index: "+ i +" " + setElements[i]); } } String[] getMember() { String[] tempArray = new String[setElements.length]; for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { if(setElements[i] != null) { tempArray[i] = setElements[i]; } } return tempArray; } Set union(Set x, Set y) { String[] newXtemparray = new String[x.getLength()]; String[] newYtemparray = new String[y.getLength()]; Set temp = new Set(1,20,20); newXtemparray = x.getMember(); newYtemparray = x.getMember(); for(int i = 0; i < newXtemparray.length; i++) { temp.add(newYtemparray[i]); } for(int j = 0; j < newYtemparray.length; j++) { temp.add(newYtemparray[j]); } return temp; } } // This is the SetDemo class that will make use of our Set class class SetDemo { public static void main(String[] args) { //get input from keyboard BufferedReader keyboard; InputStreamReader reader; String temp = ""; reader = new InputStreamReader(System.in); keyboard = new BufferedReader(reader); try { System.out.println("Enter string element to be added" ); temp = keyboard.readLine( ); System.out.println("You entered " + temp ); } catch (IOException IOerr) { System.out.println("There was an error during input"); } /* ************************************************************************** * Test cases for our new created Set class. * ************************************************************************** */ Set setA = new Set(1,10,10); setA.add(temp); setA.add("b"); setA.add("b"); setA.add("hello"); setA.add("world"); setA.add("six"); setA.add("seven"); setA.add("b"); int size = setA.getLength(); System.out.println("Set size is: " + size ); Boolean isempty = setA.isEmpty(); System.out.println("Set is empty? Thanks in advance for any explaination. lupin

• iPad width in viewport settings overflowing past device width

- by user1327771
I am at my wit's end here, and I beseech the fine folks here at stackoverflow for help. I am working on a design for a blog for a friend of mine, and I'm working in HTML5. I am trying to get the width of the page to span the width of an iPad. So, in my document head, I have the following: Now, if you go to the index page, on an iPad, it looks just fine. The width of the page spans the width of the iPad in portrait mode, as I expect it to: http://www.alanreuterart.com/femmegamers/index.html It also looks fine on any individual blog posts as well. However, on the "about" and "join" pages, the width does not do this. It's actually overflowing past the length of the iPad to the right. View the following page on an iPad to see what I mean: http://www.alanreuterart.com/femmegamers/about.html I've tried everything. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get it those two pages to correctly span the device width of the iPad. One important note, though: before anyone tells me to set my viewport width to 960, I cannot do that because the pages have media queries in them to convert to a mobile layout for the iPhone and other mobile phones. (I am not making a special unique layout for the iPad.) Can ANYONE help out here? Thanks in advance! —Me.

• Rails rspec expects Admin::PostsController, which is there.

- by berkes
I have a file app/controllers/admin/posts_controller.rb class Admin::PostsController < ApplicationController layout 'admin' # GET /admin/posts def index @pposts = Post.paginate :page => params[:page], :order => 'created_at DESC' end # ...Many more standard CRUD/REST methods... end And an rspec test spec/controllers/admin/posts_controller_spec.rb require 'spec_helper' describe Admin::PostsController do describe "GET 'index'" do it "should be successful" do get 'index' response.should be_success end end #...many more test for all CRUD/REST methods end However, running that spec throws an error. I have no idea what that error means, nor how to start solving it. /home/...../active_support/dependencies.rb:492:in `load_missing_constant': Expected /home/...../app/controllers/admin/posts_controller.rb to define Admin::PostsController (LoadError) I may have it all set up wrong, or may be doing something really silly, but all I want is my CRUD actions on /admin, with separate before filters and a separate layout. And to test these controllers. EDIT ZOMG, made a terrible copy-paste error into this SO posting. The controller was PostsController, not the PagesController that I pasted into there. Problem still stands, as my code is correct, just the SO post, here was wrong.

• Alternate widgets and logic for ManyToManyField with Django forms

- by Jaearess
In my Django project, I have a simple ticket system. When creating a ticket, certain users have the ability to assign the ticket to other users, and to email the ticket to other users as well (this is used as an FYI for those users, so they're aware of the ticket, even though it's not assigned to them.) At the moment, the form for adding a ticket is simply the default Django form, with the "assigned_to" and "email_to" fields being ManyToManyFields, and therefore displayed as MultipleSelect widgets, each with a list of all users. Due to the relatively large number of users, and general awkwardness of the MultipleSelect widget, and alternate layout is now required. The desired layout is a pair of simple Select widgets side-by-side. The first has the option of "Assign to" or "Email to" and the second is a list of the users. Essentially, like this: [Assign to] [John Doe] [Email to] [Jane Roe] [Jack Smith], etc. Of course, since an arbitrary number of users can be assigned or emailed a ticket, there's a simple button that runs some Javascript to add another set of widgets, to allow the user to assign and email as many people as they need to. So far all of that is fairly simple and straight forward. However, the problem I have is using this widget setup/logic setup with Django forms. Instead of lists of users to assign to and email, instead we're getting back pairs of information, one a user and the other which list that user should be placed in. What I'm looking for, but have yet to find, is a way to offload the translation between how the user uses the form, and how Django understands the model to the form itself, so I don't have to manually do the processing of the data before passing it to the form in each place this form is used. Additionally, there's a review screen with the option to go back and change the form before submitting it, so a way to have the form translate both to and from this format would be extremely helpful.

• Android: restful API service

- by Martyn
Hey, I'm looking to make a service which I can use to make calls to a web based rest api. I've spent a couple of days looking through stackoverflow.com, reading books and looking at articles whilst playing about with some code and I can't get anything which I'm happy with. Basically I want to start a service on app init then I want to be able to ask that service to request a url and return the results. In the meantime I want to be able to display a progress window or something similar. I've created a service currently which uses IDL, I've read somewhere that you only really need this for cross app communication, so think these needs stripping out but unsure how to do callbacks without it. Also when I hit the post(Config.getURL("login"), values) the app seems to pause for a while (seems weird - thought the idea behind a service was that it runs on a different thread!) Currently I have a service with post and get http methods inside, a couple of AIDL files (for two way communication), a ServiceManager which deals with starting, stopping, binding etc to the service and I'm dynamically creating a Handler with specific code for the callbacks as needed. I don't want anyone to give me a complete code base to work on, but some pointers would be greatly appreciated; even if it's to say I'm doing it completely wrong. I'm pretty new to Android and Java dev so if there are any blindingly obvious mistakes here - please don't think I'm a rubbish developer, I'm just wet behind the ears and would appreciate being told exactly where I'm going wrong. Anyway, code in (mostly) full (really didn't want to put this much code here, but I don't know where I'm going wrong - apologies in advance): public class RestfulAPIService extends Service { final RemoteCallbackList<IRemoteServiceCallback> mCallbacks = new RemoteCallbackList<IRemoteServiceCallback>(); public void onStart(Intent intent, int startId) { super.onStart(intent, startId); } public IBinder onBind(Intent intent) { return binder; } public void onCreate() { super.onCreate(); } public void onDestroy() { super.onDestroy(); mCallbacks.kill(); } private final IRestfulService.Stub binder = new IRestfulService.Stub() { public void doLogin(String username, String password) { Message msg = new Message(); Bundle data = new Bundle(); HashMap<String, String> values = new HashMap<String, String>(); values.put("username", username); values.put("password", password); String result = post(Config.getURL("login"), values); data.putString("response", result); msg.setData(data); msg.what = Config.ACTION_LOGIN; mHandler.sendMessage(msg); } public void registerCallback(IRemoteServiceCallback cb) { if (cb != null) mCallbacks.register(cb); } }; private final Handler mHandler = new Handler() { public void handleMessage(Message msg) { // Broadcast to all clients the new value. final int N = mCallbacks.beginBroadcast(); for (int i = 0; i < N; i++) { try { switch (msg.what) { case Config.ACTION_LOGIN: mCallbacks.getBroadcastItem(i).userLogIn( msg.getData().getString("response")); break; default: super.handleMessage(msg); return; } } catch (RemoteException e) { } } mCallbacks.finishBroadcast(); } public String post(String url, HashMap<String, String> namePairs) {...} public String get(String url) {...} }; A couple of AIDL files: package com.something.android oneway interface IRemoteServiceCallback { void userLogIn(String result); } and package com.something.android import com.something.android.IRemoteServiceCallback; interface IRestfulService { void doLogin(in String username, in String password); void registerCallback(IRemoteServiceCallback cb); } and the service manager: public class ServiceManager { final RemoteCallbackList<IRemoteServiceCallback> mCallbacks = new RemoteCallbackList<IRemoteServiceCallback>(); public IRestfulService restfulService; private RestfulServiceConnection conn; private boolean started = false; private Context context; public ServiceManager(Context context) { this.context = context; } public void startService() { if (started) { Toast.makeText(context, "Service already started", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } else { Intent i = new Intent(); i.setClassName("com.something.android", "com.something.android.RestfulAPIService"); context.startService(i); started = true; } } public void stopService() { if (!started) { Toast.makeText(context, "Service not yet started", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } else { Intent i = new Intent(); i.setClassName("com.something.android", "com.something.android.RestfulAPIService"); context.stopService(i); started = false; } } public void bindService() { if (conn == null) { conn = new RestfulServiceConnection(); Intent i = new Intent(); i.setClassName("com.something.android", "com.something.android.RestfulAPIService"); context.bindService(i, conn, Context.BIND_AUTO_CREATE); } else { Toast.makeText(context, "Cannot bind - service already bound", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } protected void destroy() { releaseService(); } private void releaseService() { if (conn != null) { context.unbindService(conn); conn = null; Log.d(LOG_TAG, "unbindService()"); } else { Toast.makeText(context, "Cannot unbind - service not bound", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } class RestfulServiceConnection implements ServiceConnection { public void onServiceConnected(ComponentName className, IBinder boundService) { restfulService = IRestfulService.Stub.asInterface((IBinder) boundService); try { restfulService.registerCallback(mCallback); } catch (RemoteException e) {} } public void onServiceDisconnected(ComponentName className) { restfulService = null; } }; private IRemoteServiceCallback mCallback = new IRemoteServiceCallback.Stub() { public void userLogIn(String result) throws RemoteException { mHandler.sendMessage(mHandler.obtainMessage(Config.ACTION_LOGIN, result)); } }; private Handler mHandler; public void setHandler(Handler handler) { mHandler = handler; } } Service init and bind: // this I'm calling on app onCreate servicemanager = new ServiceManager(this); servicemanager.startService(); servicemanager.bindService(); application = (ApplicationState)this.getApplication(); application.setServiceManager(servicemanager); service function call: // this lot i'm calling as required - in this example for login progressDialog = new ProgressDialog(Login.this); progressDialog.setMessage("Logging you in..."); progressDialog.show(); application = (ApplicationState) getApplication(); servicemanager = application.getServiceManager(); servicemanager.setHandler(mHandler); try { servicemanager.restfulService.doLogin(args[0], args[1]); } catch (RemoteException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } ...later in the same file...     At first I have taken some string in which I am trying to save the input values of textboxs and there is a combo box, I am trying to save the input value of the combo box to database, but this following code is unable to do that !!! what is the prob please help me. private void OK_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string sTxtcmpnyName = ""; string sTxtcmpnyAdd = ""; string sPhoneno = ""; string sTxtFax = ""; string sPanNo = ""; string sTxtTin = ""; string sTax = ""; string sAccYr = ""; string sComboSt = ""; foreach (Control c in this.Controls) ////*Adding Validation to the textbox.*// // Here the control is entered into GroupBox Grpcmp where c is denoting the name of the control into the groupbox. { // c1 is another control which denotes the textboxes under the GroupBox Grpcmp. foreach (Control c1 in c.Controls) { /////Now this following code snippets reperesents that the name of the company should not be blank. if (c1 is TextBox == true) // simpler that what you've done there { TextBox temp = (TextBox)c1; //The control is entering into Txtcompany. if (temp.Name == "Txtcompanyname") { //Condition checking is the TextBox is empty or Null then the following message will be shown. if ((temp.Text == "") || (temp.Text == "NULL")) { MessageBox.Show("Company Name should not be Blank"); } sTxtcmpnyName = temp.Text; } else if (c1.Name == "TxtcompanyAddress") { sTxtcmpnyAdd = c1.Text; } else if (c1.Name == "Txtphoneno") { sPhoneno = c1.Text; } else if (c1.Name == "TxtFax ") { sTxtFax = c1.Text; } else if (c1.Name == "Txtpanno") { sPanNo = c1.Text; } else if (c1.Name == "TxtTin") { sTxtTin = c1.Text; } else if (c1.Name == "Txtservicetax") { sTax = c1.Text; } //Now I am converting the TxtAcYr into Date format. //For this purpose two conditions are checked first. //First If the TextBox TxtAcYr is Null or empty it will show the message to enter the accountyear!! //Second If the length of the TextBox TxtAcYr is less than 10, it will again generate a message The date format should be in DD/MM/YYYY // Then the value of the use input will be picked using a For loop. if (c1.Name == "TxtAcYr") { sAccYr = c1.Text; //Here a string is taken named as yearlength and the value of the TxtAcYr is assigned to it by using control c1. //Condition Checking If the TextBox TxtAcYr is Null or empty it will show the message to enter the accountyear!! if ((c1.Text == "") || (c1.Text == "NULL")) { MessageBox.Show("Account Year should be entered!!"); } //Condition 2 is checking. Here the length of the string yearlength is whether equals to 10 or not is checked. //Because there are total 10 characters in Date Format along with special character. else // MessageBox.Show(yearlength.Length.ToString()); if (sAccYr.Length != 10) { MessageBox.Show("The Data Format DD-MM-YYYY"); } //Now the value of user will be picked by using the code snippets. else { //A string named as JK is taken for further use. String JK = ""; //This following loop is initiated to pick the user input. //The loop will check wheather the value of i is less than the length of string yearlength or not. //If Yes then it will go further. for (int i = 0; i < sAccYr.Length; i++) { //This condition is checking special characters. //The positions of special characters(Here '-') are placed at 2nd and 5th numbers. //So, the value of i can not be equals to 2 && 5. if ((i != 2) && (i != 5)) { //The new of value of year length i is assinged to the variable JK. JK = JK + sAccYr[i]; } //If the value of i is equals to 1, then enter the following. if (i == 1) { //*Should add the function of TOInt32* // If ToInt32(JK)>= the maximum length of days of a month then the following alert message will be shown. if (Convert.ToInt32(JK) >= 32) { MessageBox.Show("The Data Format DD-MM-YYYY"); } //**Comment should be added.** JK = ""; } else //If the value of i is equals to 4, then enter the following. if (i == 4) { //*Should add the function of TOInt32* // If ToInt32(JK)>= the maximum length of month then the following alert message will be shown. if (Convert.ToInt32(JK) >= 13) { MessageBox.Show("The Data Format DD-MM-YYYY"); } JK = ""; } } } } } else if (c1.Name == "state_cmb") { //sTxttate = c1.Text.ToString(); sComboSt = c1.Text; MessageBox.Show(c1.Text); } } } //////DATABASE CONNECTION///// try { SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(); conn.ConnectionString = ("Data Source =192.168.0.2 ;database= Mee_Company; Persist Security Info =true; User ID =sa;Password = soso654321@"); conn.Open(); cmd.CommandText = ("INSERT INTO CompanyMaster(CompanyName,Address,State,Phone,Fax,PAN,TIN,STAX,AccountsYear)values('" + sTxtcmpnyName + "','" + sTxtcmpnyAdd + "','" + sComboSt + "','" + sPhoneno + "','" + sTxtFax + "','" + sPanNo + "','" + sTxtTin + "','" + sTax + "','" + sAccYr + "')"); //('" + sTxtcmpnyName + "', '" + TxtcompanyAddress.Text + "', '" + Txtphoneno.Text + "', '" + TxtFax.Text + "', '" + Txtservicetax.Text + "','" + TxtAcYr.Text + "')"); cmd.Connection = conn; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); conn.Close(); //cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue } catch (Exception ee) { MessageBox.Show(ee.ToString()); } } //An event is created here so that when the user will click on the Cancel Button, the Form will be closed. private void BtmCancle_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //this means the form. this.Close(); } //Another Event is created here named as TxtAcYr_KeyPress. //It is for making the TextBox TxtAcYr only allowance of numeric input along with special character '-'. private void TxtAcYr_KeyPress(object sender, KeyPressEventArgs e) { //If the input is number or '-' is checked //And also the backspace and delete option is enabled here. if (char.IsNumber(e.KeyChar) || e.KeyChar == (char)Keys.Back || e.KeyChar == (char)Keys.Delete || e.KeyChar == '-') { e.Handled = false; //ok } else { e.Handled = true; //not ok } }
