  • JQuery UI question, how do you add variables into the dialog box

    $('.openDialog').click(function(event){ var width=$(this).attr('width'); var height=$(this).attr('height'); alert(width + ' ' + height); event.preventDefault(); $("#dialog").dialog({autoOpen: false, modal: true}); $('#dialog').dialog('option', 'width', width); $('#dialog').dialog('open'); $('#dialog p').load('http://pagetoload.com/page.html .content'); }); As you can see above i'm trying to open a dialog box with a passed in parameter of width and height, however when I try and pass in the value of width on this line: $('#dialog').dialog('option', 'width', width); it doesn't work, any ideas why or how to get around that? Thanks

  • where is the best place to place a javascript snippet to alter the DOM of a page before it renders

    - by icepack
    I have a few dynamic pages and I want to alter certain elements before the page has fully rendered. My snippet is something like document.body.getElementById("change").innerHTML = "<img src..."; I do not have access to change the content server side. Where is the best place to put the snippet to have the code run before the page it has rendered? Rather, is putting the javascript in either the HEAD (inside the window.onload event?) or before the closing BODY(not inside an event listener) optimal?

  • Am I reindexing this Sphinx index correctly?

    - by Ethan
    According to the Thinking Sphinx docs... Turning on delta indexing does not remove the need for regularly running a full re-index ... So I set up this cron job... 50 10 * * * cd /var/www/my_app/current && /opt/ruby/bin/rake thinking_sphinx:index RAILS_ENV=production >> /var/www/my_app/current/log/reindexing.log 2>&1 Is that a reasonable way to do it? Should I be doing something different?

  • ASP.net Text Box Enter button pressed hell

    - by Morgeh
    Basically I have an asp.net website with login and search pages. Currently, I have no idea why, when ever a user hits enter in either of the login text boxes (user name/password) or in the Seach text box, the website is redirected to the default page. I have no idea why this is happening, I've tried setting defaultButton on both the panel containing the search and the login panel but that doesnt seem to work. I've also tried catching the key press event with javascript which isnt working either. I have no idea what event is being fired and why, or why it seems to override everything I try to do. Anyone seen anything like this before?

  • Google Map Overlay Icon disappears at certain zoom level

    - by Lawrence Teo
    I notice that Firefox 3 demonstrates this problem. I put down an overlay icon and play around with the map zoom. At certain zoom level, I found that the icon disappears for some unknown reason. Zooming out brings back the icon. Or during the disappearance, I click on the Google Map and it will somehow trigger to bring back the icon. I suspect it has something to do with the event triggering. Internet Explorer doesn't demonstrate the same problem though. Any advice? Like how to trigger update event on Firefox?

  • internet explorer 7 iframe unloads when going back

    - by André
    Hi this is my first post here, so please be kind ;-) i'm implementing a browser history manager, just like rsh or yui browser history manager. The idea was not to constantly poll the url hash of a hidden iframe, but to capture the onscroll event of an iframe, when it scrolls to an anchor name on an urlhashchange. So on every click i add an new anchor to iframe and set the iframe's hash to the anchors name. When pressing the back or forward button the frame scrolls to the previous or next anchor and the onscroll event is fired. That works great on firefox 3.0+, IE6 and Opera but on IE7 when hiting the back button the frame unloads and loses all its anchors. If anyone has an idea why this is happening or even a fix for this "bug", please i'm slowly going insane over this. thanks in advance btw the onscroll idea comes from: http://www.zachleat.com/web/2008/08/21/onhashchange-without-setinterval/

  • Is there a way to only backup a SQL 2005 database structure fully, but only the data in a certain se

    - by TheSoftwareJedi
    I have several schemas in my database, and the largest one ("large" meaning disk space consumed) is my "web" schema which is a denormalized copy of data in the operational schemas. This denormalized data is able to be reconstructed at anytime, and is merely there for extremely fast read purposes. Since the data is redundant, and VERY large - I'd like to exclude it from being backed up. I already have stored procedures that can regenerate all of the data in that schema in a couple of hours - for use in the event of a failure. I assume I can split the tables in this schema out to another data file or such (ideally even on another drive for faster reads), but is there a way to never have that data file backup, yet still in the event of a failure its structure could be restored (and other DDL stuff like procs, views, etc)? Somewhat related, can I also have these tables not do transaction logging, if I go to "Full" backup mode for the rest of the database?

  • Writing to a comet stream using tomcat 6.0

    - by user301247
    Hey I'm new to java servlets and I am trying to write one that uses comet so that I can create a long polling Ajax request. I can successfully start the stream and perform operations but I can't write anything out. Here is my code: public class CometTestServlet extends HttpServlet implements CometProcessor { /** * */ private static final long serialVersionUID = 1070949541963627977L; private MessageSender messageSender = null; protected ArrayList<HttpServletResponse> connections = new ArrayList<HttpServletResponse>(); public void event(CometEvent cometEvent) throws IOException, ServletException { HttpServletRequest request = cometEvent.getHttpServletRequest(); HttpServletResponse response = cometEvent.getHttpServletResponse(); //final PrintWriter out = response.getWriter(); if (cometEvent.getEventType() == CometEvent.EventType.BEGIN) { PrintWriter writer = response.getWriter(); writer.println("<!doctype html public \"-//w3c//dtd html 4.0 transitional//en\">"); writer.println("<head><title>JSP Chat</title></head><body bgcolor=\"#FFFFFF\">"); writer.println("</body></html>"); writer.flush(); cometEvent.setTimeout(10 * 1000); //cometEvent.close(); } else if (cometEvent.getEventType() == CometEvent.EventType.ERROR) { log("Error for session: " + request.getSession(true).getId()); synchronized(connections) { connections.remove(response); } cometEvent.close(); } else if (cometEvent.getEventType() == CometEvent.EventType.END) { log("End for session: " + request.getSession(true).getId()); synchronized(connections) { connections.remove(response); } PrintWriter writer = response.getWriter(); writer.println("</body></html>"); cometEvent.close(); } else if (cometEvent.getEventType() == CometEvent.EventType.READ) { //handleReadEvent(cometEvent); InputStream is = request.getInputStream(); byte[] buf = new byte[512]; do { int n = is.read(buf); //can throw an IOException if (n > 0) { log("Read " + n + " bytes: " + new String(buf, 0, n) + " for session: " + request.getSession(true).getId()); } else if (n < 0) { //error(cometEvent, request, response); return; } } while (is.available() > 0); } } Any help would be appreciated.

  • Prototype mouseleave for two connected elements

    - by TenJack
    I have created a small navigation element that is positioned right on top of another element. It is only shown when a user mousenters/mouseovers the main element. I am having some trouble with the prototype. I would like this small nav element to be hidden when a user mouses out of the main box, but I would also like the small nav element to remain visible if a user mouses out of the main box but mouses into the small nav at the same time. This is my attempt so far with some pseudo-code to hopefully explain: $('main_box').observe('mouseenter', function(){ $('small_div').show() }) $('main_box').observe('mouseleave', function(){ if this element is $('small_div') then Event.stop() $('small_div').observe('mouseleave', function(){ if this element is $('main_box') Event.stop observe $('main_box') mouseleave else $('small_div').hide(); }) else $('small_div').hide(); }) The main thing I'm having trouble with is figuring out what element the mouse is over at a given point in time. Is there a way to do something like: on mouseleave do blah unless the mouse is over a specific element then do not do blah?

  • Prefered method for looping sound flash as3

    - by Brian Heylin
    Hi there, I'm having some issues with looping a sound in flash AS3, in that when I tell the sound to loop I get a slight delay at the end/beginning of the audio. The audio is clipped correctly and will play without a gap on garage band. I know that there are issues with sound in general in flash, bugs with encodings and the inaccuracies with the SOUND_COMPLETE event (And Adobe should be embarrassed with their handling of these issues) I have tried to use the built in loop argument in the play method on the Sound class and also react on the SOUND_COMPLETE event, but both cause a delay. But has anyone come up with a technique for looping a sound without any noticeable gap?

  • Javascript (JQuery) keyboard hijack problem

    - by user266564
    I'm making a typing tutor program using javascript. Everything is going well except that if activates browser hotkeys which disrupts the functionality of the program. When I press the single quote in Firefox it triggers "Quick find (links only)" short cut and in all browsers when I press space the page scrolls down a page. Everything is working fine outside of this. Here's the code in the head: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { executeType(); }); </script> And the code I am using to capture the keyboard (simplified, but tested): function executeType() { $(document).keydown(function(event) { alert(event.keyCode); }); }

  • What CPAN module can summarize arbitrary error logs?

    - by mithaldu
    I'm maintaining some website code that will soon dump all its errors and warnings into a log file. In order to make this a bit more pro-active I plan to parse this log file daily, summarize the warnings and errors (i.e. count the occurrence of each specific one and group by either warning/error) and then email this to the devs on the project. This would likely admittedly be rather trivial with a hash and some further fiddling, I wondered if there is a suitable module on CPAN that I could use to do this task. It would either be one that summarizes specifically Perl error/warnings logs or one that summarizes arbitrary text files. Any suggestions?

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! class ObservableDictionary<TKey, TValue>:Dictionary<TKey, TValue>, INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public new void Remove(TKey obj) { base.Remove(obj); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Remove")); } } }

  • Alternative databases to use when putting IIS Logs into a database using LogParser

    - by Robin Day
    We have run some scripts that use LogParser to dump our IIS logs into a SQL Server database. We can then query this to get simple stats on hits, usage etc. It's also good when linking it to error log databases and performance counter database to compare usage with errors, etc. Having implemented this for just one system and for the last 2-3 weeks we already have a 5GB database with around 10 million records. This is making any queries to this database quite slow and will no doubt cause storage issues if we continue to log as we are. Can anyone suggest any alternative databases that we could use for this data that would be more efficient for such logs? I'd be particularly interested in any experience of Google's BigTable or Amazon's SimbleDB. Are either of these suitable for reporting queries? COUNTs, GROUP BYs, PIVOTs?

  • Is there a way to put Setter elements inside EventTrigger?

    - by Dennis Delimarsky
    Working on a WPF application, I started working on a custom ControlTemplate. I reached the point where I need to change some control properties when an event occurs. For this purpose, there are Setter elements. Seems all good, but I cannot use them inside EventTrigger elements. For example, if a simple Trigger, that can be bound to control properties, is used then Setter elements can be used inside. However, I do not want to bind to a property change but rather to an event. Is there a way to do this in pure XAML or will I have to work in the code-behind?

  • C# progress bar not synced with download (WebClient class)

    - by dominiquel
    Hi, I am coding a system which has a small FTP module included inside, it's not the main feature at all, but needed... I must link the progressbar with the WebClient class event DownloadProgressChangedEventHandler and AsyncCompletedEventHandler, the progressbar increment is ok, and the ASyncCompletedEventHandler launch a MessageBox (as intended), the problem is that the progress bar see to load too slow... problem : My MessageBox pop at 100% (launched by the event handler), BUT when the MessageBox pop my progress bar is only at +-80% (but the .VALUE is really 100), the first though I had was that they have added a "smooth" effect in Windows Vista which slow down the progressbar relatively to it's true value. If any of you have experienced the same problem thanks for your help.

  • bottom uicomponent does not receive mouse events

    - by firemonkey
    HI, I am sure this is very basic, however I am not able to find the solution. I have a base ShapeContainer(UIComponent). I add a uicomponent which has mouse down listener to ShapeContainer. the listener works great. When I add a simple sprite(draw square) on the ShapeContainer, The listener does not work any more. In the code, if I comment below lines, The event listener works fine. var square:Sprite = new Sprite(); square.graphics.lineStyle(4,0x00FF00); square.graphics.drawRect(0,0,20,20); square.mouseEnabled=false; shapeContainer.addChildAt(square,1); I have tried few things like, mouseenabled=false on top sprite. also tried to add addChildAt but non of them did any help. How can I draw a shape and also have the event listener work. enter code here protected function application1_creationCompleteHandler(event:FlexEvent):void { var shapeContainer:UIComponent = new UIComponent(); shapeContainer.x=100; shapeContainer.y=100; shapeContainer.width=200; shapeContainer.height=200; rawChildren.addChild(shapeContainer); var EventListenerShape:UIComponent = new UIComponent(); EventListenerShape.x=100; EventListenerShape.y=100; EventListenerShape.width=200;a EventListenerShape.height=200; EventListenerShape.graphics.clear(); EventListenerShape.graphics.beginFill(0xf1f1f1, 0.1); EventListenerShape.graphics.drawRoundRect(0, 0, 200, 200, 10, 10); EventListenerShape.alpha = 0; EventListenerShape.graphics.endFill(); EventListenerShape.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownfunc); shapeContainer.addChild(EventListenerShape); var square:Sprite = new Sprite(); square.graphics.lineStyle(4,0x00FF00); square.graphics.drawRect(0,0,20,20); square.mouseEnabled=false; shapeContainer.addChildAt(square,1); } private function mouseDownfunc(e:MouseEvent){ trace("mouse Down **"); }    ]]> </mx:Script> <mx:Canvas id="uic" width="100%" height="100%" backgroundColor="0xFFFFFF"> </mx:Canvas>

  • How can I iterate over a collection of objects returned by a LINQ-to-XML query?

    I've got this XML: <BillingLog> <BillingItem> <date-and-time>2003-11-04</date-and-time> <application-name>Billing Service</application-name> <severity>Warning</severity> <process-id>123</process-id> <description>Timed out on a connection</description> <detail>Timed out after three retries.</detail> </BillingItem> <BillingItem> <date-and-time>2010-05-15</date-and-time> <application-name>Callback Service</application-name> <severity>Error</severity> <process-id>456</process-id> <description>Unable to process callback</description> <detail>Reconciliation timed out after two retries.</detail> </BillingItem> </BillingLog> That I want to project using LINQ-to-XML into a collection of BillingItem objects contained in a single BillingLog object. public class BillingLog { public IEnumerable<BillingItem> items { get; set; } } public class BillingItem { public string Date { get; set; } public string ApplicationName { get; set; } public string Severity { get; set; } public int ProcessId { get; set; } public string Description { get; set; } public string Detail { get; set;} } This is the LINQ query that I'm using to project the XML (which is contained in the string variable source). • iPhone game audio and background music

    - by Boon
    Have a few questions related to adding sounds to my game, specifically intro music (for splash), background music (loop) and button event sounds. Hope you can share your knowledge on this. 1) Should I use compressed sounds or uncompressed sounds? Or perhaps a combination of the two? Are there any limitations on the iPhone hardware that I should be aware of -- for example, the ability to play multiple compressed sounds? 2) What's the best audio format for my purpose? 3) For background music, I am thinking of using AVAudioPlayer. For button event sounds, I am thinking of using AudioServicesPlaySystemSound, what do you think? 4) Any other issues I should be aware of? Thank you!

  • a4j:support within a rich:modalPanel

    - by Andy Deighton
    Hi all, I've hit a wall. I know the a4j and rich tags pretty well (I use Seam 2.2.0 and Richfaces 3.3.1). However, I'm trying to do something quite simple, but in a rich:modalPanel. It seems that rich:modalPanels do not allow Ajax events to be fired. Here's a simple breakdown: I have a h:selectOneMenu with some items in it and whose value is attached to a backing bean. Attached to that h:selectOneMenu is a a4j:support tag so that whenever the change event is fired, the backing bean should get updated. Truly simple stuff eh? However, when this h:selectOneMenu is in a rich:modalPanel the onchange event doesn't update the backing bean until the rich:modalPanel closes. I can confirm this because I'm running it in Eclipse debug mode and I have a breakpoint on the setter of the property that's hooked up to the h:selectOneMenu. This is driving me mad! This is vanilla stuff for Ajax, but rich:modalPanels don't seem to allow it. So, the question is: can I do Ajax stuff within a rich:modalPanel? I'm basically trying to use the rich:modalPanel as a form (I've tried a4j:form and h:form to no avail) that reacts to changes to the drop down (e.g. when the user changes the drop down, a certain part of the form should get reRendered). Am I trying to do something that's not possible? Here's a simplified version of the modalPanel: <rich:modalPanel id="quickAddPanel"> <div> <a4j:form id="quickAddPaymentForm" ajaxSubmit="true"> <s:decorate id="paymentTypeDecorator"> <a4j:region> <h:selectOneMenu id="paymentType" required="true" value="#{backingBean.paymentType}" tabindex="1"> <s:selectItems label="#{type.description}" noSelectionLabel="Please select..." value="#{incomingPaymentTypes}" var="type"/> <s:convertEnum/> <a4j:support ajaxSingle="true" event="onchange" eventsQueue="paymentQueue" immediate="true" limitToList="true" reRender="paymentTypeDecorator, paymentDetailsOutputPanel, quickAddPaymentForm"/> </h:selectOneMenu> </a4j:region> </s:decorate> </fieldset> <fieldset class="standard-form"> <div class="form-title">Payment details</div> <a4j:outputPanel id="paymentDetailsOutputPanel"> <h:outputText value="This should change whenever dropdown changes: #{backingBean.paymentType}"/> </a4j:outputPanel> </fieldset> </a4j:form> </div> </rich:modalPanel> Regards, Andy

But it gets bad if you try to put breakpoint into the event. Why? I mean event is not run in the same thread that the windows hook is. That means that It shouldn't block HookCallback. It does however... I would really like to know why is this happening. My theory is that Visual Studio when breaking execution temporarily stops all threads and that means that HookCallback is blocked... Is there any book or valuable resource that would explain concepts behind all of this threading?
