  • How to achieve Bing maps like InfoWindow in Google Maps?

    - by BillB
I'm using Google Maps v3. I really like the InfoWindows found in Bing, as opposed to Google. Screenshots & functionality found here comparing the two: http://www.axismaps.com/blog/2009/07/data-probing-and-info-window-design-on-web-based-maps/ Question: How can I replicate Bing like InfoWindows while using Google Maps v3? UPDATE: To be more specific, what I like about Bing's InfoWindows include: - The pointer dynamically changes sides from left/right/bottom/top, as opposed to Google limited to only have the InfoWindow pointer on the bottom - Bing's InfoWindows use less space - You can configure Bing's InfoWindows to pop up outside of the map bounders so that you don't have to autopan the map to display the marker's InfoWindow

  • JQuery: Push Effect?

    - by JGreig
I'm currently using the JQuery slideDown/slideUp effect and am not accomplishing what I want. Essentially, I want to create an action where I "push" a div off the top of the browser window. Something similar to the following push effect example. How can I do this with JQuery? The problem with just using slideDown/slideUp is that the other DIV just overlaps the div I'm hiding. But instead, I want to PUSH the div I don't want visible off the top of the browser window.

  • remove text in parentheses and the parentheses using .filter() or .slice()

    - by liz
i have a table with code like this: <tr> <th scope="row">5-17</th> <td>23.6 (22.0-24.0)</td> <td>18.0 (17-20.0)</td> </tr> <tr> <th scope="row">Total 0-17</th> <td>20.6 (8-15.6)</td> <td>16.1 (22.2-24.0)</td> </tr> i am using the following function to find the contents of the table cells and bring it into an array: var l1 = $('#datatable td:nth-child(2)').map(function() { return $(this).text(); }).get(); the table fragment's id is "datatable". this returns properly, however i am putting this array into jqPlot and it cant read the stuff between the parentheses or the parentheses themselves. i need the data to remain in the table however because we are displaying both the table and the chart. i cant reformat (add spans around the content i want to remove etc) because these tables are being generated by another piece of software. i think what i need to do is either slice off after the space or use a regex to find and remove. not sure how to proceed with either of these. thanks!

  • How can I call a function at the very end of document.ready

    - by Umair
I have multiple document.ready functions on a page and I want a function to be called when all my document.ready functions have been executed. I simply want the function to be called at the very end, after all other document.ready functions have executed. An example of this could be that each document.ready function increments a global variable when it has been executed, and the last function needs to check the value of that variable at the very end. Any ideas ?

  • Tinymce extended_valid_elements for BBcodes?

    - by Emily
I use Tinymce with BBcodes plugin so the tags used in the editor are [B] [U] [I] [quote] [color]. If you are familiar with TinyMce there is a great option to filter all unwanted tags when pasting to the editor. Unfortunately i think this is not working for BBcodes mode, what i want is to remove any <TAGS> Or Other Unwanted BBcodes such as [url] & [img] So, my white list is : [B] [U] [I] [quote] [color=XXXXXX]. I'm already filtering in the server side, but i want this to be implemented in the client side too, So by example if someone copied from a webpage a mix of images and urls and formatted text, every image will be stripped and every url will be "unclickable" directly after pasting. Note: this is one of my failed attempts : extended_valid_elements : 'b,i,u,quote, color' Thanks

  • Find window previously opened by window.open

    - by spender
We've got the following situation, running from a single domain: Page A uses window.open() to open a named window (a popup player). window.open() gives page A a reference to the window. User now reloads page A. The reference to the named window is lost. Using window.open() to "find" the window has the unfortunate side effect of reloading it (undesirable). Is there any other way to get a reference to this window?

  • In XMLHttpRequest, where is error flag variable?

    - by Tiangolo
In the XMLHttpRequest Spec it says that: The DONE state has an associated error flag that indicates some type of network error or abortion. It can be either true or false and has an initial value of false. Also says something similar about a "send() flag" in an "OPENED" state. It's said in the specification but not in the IDL and when I create a new XMLHttpRequest I can't find those "flags". Where are those boolean variables?

  • DateJS parsing mystery

    - by Herb Caudill
I'm using DateJS to parse user-inputted dates, and getting some strange results. Date.parse("15 Jan 2010") returns Fri Jan 15 00:00:00 EST 2010 (right) Date.parse("15-Apr-2010") returns Thu Apr 15 00:00:00 EDT 2010 (right) Date.parse("15 Apr 2010") returns Thu Apr 1 00:00:00 EDT 2010 (wrong) As far as I can tell, the d MMM yyyy input format works fine for every month except April and August; in those two cases, it returns the first of the month no matter what day is entered. Is this a bug, or is there a logical explanation I'm missing?

  • Disabling script max-execution-time in flex?

    - by Stefan Kendall
How do I completely disable the max-execution-time for scripts in flex? The configurable max is 60 seconds, but I'm calling off to other interactive processes which will probably run much longer than that. Is there an easy way to disable the maximum script execution time across my entire application?

  • Apache tiles and body onload event. Known issue?

    - by Angus
We're prototyping a new visual framework using Apache Tiles for markup templating. Often the document onload event (actually prototype's dom:loaded event) is getting fired before all DOM objects are actually loaded Is it possible that the tiles templates are loading in an asynchronous fashion and therefore doing an end run around the event handler? Has anyone else had this experience? Can anyone share a robust workaround? thanks in advance

  • jQuery Address changed event

    - by Dustin
I'm trying my hand at jQuery Address http://www.asual.com/jquery/address/ On a click event I set $.address.value(mypath); This fires off the $.address.change() event. When I click a link I want the behavior to be slightly different than when this event is fired by clicking the back/forward button or with a bookmark or link. Is there a way to distinguish between the two events. I've looked at the event object passed to $.address.change() and they seem to be identical in both situations.

I want to do something like this: $.ajax({ url: SOMEWHERE, ... success: function(data){ // do sth... var new_url = data.url; $.ajax({ url: new_url, success: function(data){ var another_url = data.url; // ajax call rely on the result of previous one $.ajax({ // do sth }) } }) }, fail: function(){ // do sth... // ajax call too $.ajax({ // config }) } }) the code looks like shit. I wonder how to make it looks pretty. Some best practice?

  • Get the full URI from the href property of a link

    - by Savageman
Hello SO, I would like to have a confirmation on some point. My goal is to always get the same string (which is the URI in my case) while reading the href property from a link. Example: <a href="test.htm" /> with base_url = http://domain.name/ <a href="../test.htm" /> with base_url = http://domain.name/domain/ <a href="http://domain.name/test.htm" /> with base_url = any folder from http://domain.name/ I need to get http://domain.name/test.htm from the 3 situations above (or any other identical string). After some tests, it appears that my_a_dom_node.href always return the full-qualified URI, including the http://domaine.name, which should be okay for what I want. jQuery has a different behaviour and $(my_a_dom_node).attr('href') returns the content (text) that appears inside the HTML. So my trick is to use $(my_a_dom_node).get(0).href to get the full URI. The question is: can I rely on this?

  • Having trouble animating Line in D3.js using and array of objects as data

    - by user1731245
I can't seem to get an animated transition between line graphs when I pass in a new set of data. I am using an array of objects as data like this: [{ clicks: 40 installs: 10 time: "1349474400000" },{ clicks: 61 installs: 3 time: "1349478000000" }]; I am using this code to setup my ranges / axis's var xRange = d3.time.scale().range([0, w]), yRange = d3.scale.linear().range([h , 0]), xAxis = d3.svg.axis().scale(xRange).tickSize(-h).ticks(6).tickSubdivide(false), yAxis = d3.svg.axis().scale(yRange).ticks(5).tickSize(-w).orient("left"); var clicksLine = d3.svg.line() .interpolate("cardinal") .x(function(d){return xRange(d.time)}) .y(function(d){return yRange(d.clicks)}); var clickPath; function drawGraphs(data) { clickPath = svg.append("g") .append("path") .data([data]) .attr("class", "clicks") .attr("d", clicksLine); } function updateGraphs(data) { svg.select('path.clicks') .data([data]) .attr("d", clicksLine) .transition() .duration(500) .ease("linear") } I have tried just about everything to be able to pass in new data and see an animation between graph's. Not sure what I am missing? does it have something to do with using an array of objects instead of just a flat array of numbers as data?

  • How do I set YUI2 paginator to select a page other than the first page?

    - by Jeremy Weathers
    I have a YUI DataTable (YUI 2.8.0r4) with AJAX pagination. Each row in the table links to a details/editing page and I want to link from that details page back to the list page that includes the record from the details page. So I have to a) offset the AJAX data correctly and b) tell YAHOO.widget.Paginator which page to select. According to my reading of the YUI API docs, I have to pass in the initialPage configuration option. I've attempted this, but it doesn't take (the data from AJAX is correctly offset, but the paginator thinks I'm on page 1, so clicking "next" takes me from e.g. page 6 to page 2. What am I not doing (or doing wrong)? Here's my DataTable building code: (function() { var columns = [ {key: "retailer", label: "Retailer", sortable: false, width: 80}, {key: "publisher", label: "Publisher", sortable: false, width: 300}, {key: "description", label: "Description", sortable: false, width: 300} ]; var source = new YAHOO.util.DataSource("/sales_data.json?"); source.responseType = YAHOO.util.DataSource.TYPE_JSON; source.responseSchema = { resultsList: "records", fields: [ {key: "url"}, {key: "retailer"}, {key: "publisher"}, {key: "description"} ], metaFields: { totalRecords: "totalRecords" } }; var LoadingDT = function(div, cols, src, opts) { LoadingDT.superclass.constructor.call( this, div, cols, src, opts); // hide the message tbody this._elMsgTbody.style.display = "none"; }; YAHOO.extend(LoadingDT, YAHOO.widget.DataTable, { showTableMessage: function(msg) { $('sales_table_overlay').clonePosition($('sales_table').down('table')). show(); }, hideTableMessage: function() { $('sales_table_overlay').hide(); } }); var table = new LoadingDT("sales_table", columns, source, { initialRequest: "startIndex=125&results=25", dynamicData: true, paginator: new YAHOO.widget.Paginator({rowsPerPage: 25, initialPage: 6}) }); table.handleDataReturnPayload = function(oRequest, oResponse, oPayload) { oPayload.totalRecords = oResponse.meta.totalRecords; return oPayload; }; })();

  • Send post request from client to node.js

    - by Husar
In order to learn node.js I have built a very simple guestbook app. There is basically just a comment form and a list of previous comments. Currently the app is client side only and the items are stored within local storage. What I want to do is send the items to node where I will save them using Mongo DB. The problem is I have not yet found a way to establish a connection to send data back and forth the client and node.js using POST requests. What I do now is add listeners to the request and wait for data I send: request.addListener('data', function(chunk) { console.log("Received POST data chunk '"+ chunk + "'."); }); On the client side I send the data using a simple AJAX request: $.ajax({ url: '/', type: 'post', dataType: 'json', data: 'test' }) This does not work at all in them moment. It could be that I don't know what url to place in the AJAX request 'url' parameter. Or the whole thing might just be the build using the wrong approach. I have also tried implementing the method described here, but also with no success. It would really help if anyone can share some tips on how to make this work (sending POST request from the client side to node and back) or share any good tutorials. thanks.

  • implementing twitter bootstrap carousel

    - by arboles
I am having trouble implementing the bootstrap carousel. Can anyone look at the following html and js and give me instructions on how to implement the slide. The .js has not been edited and the carousel is installed on the body hero unit. Do I implement the carousel api? How do I define the carousel I am using within the .js file? Thanks. <div class="carousel"> <!-- Carousel items --> <div class="carousel-inner"> <!-- Main hero unit for a primary marketing message or call to action --> <div class="hero-unit"> <h1>Hello, world!</h1> <p>This is a template for a simple marketing or informational website. It includes a large callout called the hero unit and three supporting pieces of content. Use it as a starting point to create something more unique.</p> <p><a class="btn btn-primary btn-large">Learn more &raquo;</a></p> </div> </div> <!-- Carousel nav --> <a class="carousel-control left" href="#myCarousel" data-slide="prev">&lsaquo;</a> <a class="carousel-control right" href="#myCarousel" data-slide="next">&rsaquo;</a> </div>
