I found there are 2 ways to change the image size in GIMP.
One is "Zoom", another is "Scale".
What is the difference of the 2 ways?
I do see some difference when I zoom (or scale) a TIFF to 600%. The result of zoom is more clear than scale.
I'm planning to use OpenVZ in an old machine I have at home.
I want to know if a dumped OpenVZ instance image can be exported to other formats (like VirtualBox or Vmware).
Thanks!
I am copying a 4.7 GB dvd contents into my local drive but the total size of DVD is being shown as 415 GB!. How is that possible? Because of which it is showing less space (as my drive is of 150 GB) and thus cannot be copied?
I am surprised that how a 4.7 GB dvd contains 415 GB data? Its a movie DVD (contains dual subtitles and dual language, if that helps)
Attached is the image for reference
Inside the DVD the video folder shows 415 GB
I have a large flowchart, created in LibreOffice Draw (3.3.1), that I would like to copy all of the text from. I do not need, nor care about the order or structure, I just need all of the text from within the blocks.
I can't seem to find any way to export without turning it into an image, and none of the "Paste Special" options allow me to get unformatted text.
Is there a way to do this without retyping everything?
Hello,
how can I run Microsoft Speech Recognition without the app on top or minimized?
The app is what it is at the top of this image:
http://www.microsoft.com/library/media/1033/windowsvista/images/features/bov_speechrec2.png
If that's not possible, is it possible to minimize it using c# or python?
While profiling my application I've noticed that in the Firebug Net panel, the "Connecting" time—that is the time waiting for a TCP connection—is consistently around 70–100ms. See image below:
Of course in the grand scheme of things, 100ms is not long, but I have seen other services that respond with 0ms Connect time. So if other servers can, I should be able to as well.
Any thoughts on how I might even beging to troubleshoot this?
Today after unpacking the initramfs file from my Linux /boot directory I found that it contains the GenuineIntel.bin file, and that that file is an image of what is called the CPU microcode.
Then I found articles on ArchWiki and Wikipedia describing the subject. Now I'm not sure that my vague understanding of the subject is correct.
Can anyone please explain what the CPU microcode is in plain English?
I have recently bought myself a new monitor, now I'd had my previous screen well over 5 years now so I'm looking at this one thinking the picture doesn't quite look right (not bad, just different). Rather than just wait until I'm used to the new picture I'd rather get it fine tuned, then get used to it - so I can reap the maximum benefit.
So, can you please suggest reliable ways of configuring an LCD monitor's brightness/contrast/colour/etc to provide the optimum possibly quality image?
Problem
I printed a picture using Windows Photo Viewer, and the resulting print was significantly darker than the original image. It was almost completely black.
I'm using a Brother HL-2270DW printer.
Troubleshooting
Checked Windows's Colour Profile for printer: not set
Checked available installed colour profiles: didn't see specific to this printer
What doesn't work
Printing it from Windows Photo Viewer
Printing it from Paint.NET
What works
The printer's built-in self-test print page
Windows's test print page
Printing text from Notepad++
So the problem might be specific to:
How Windows prints photos/pictures
The picture
How the printer prints photos/pictures
I want to save the images from a page in Firefox that have been open for a couple of days. The problem is that neither the page nor the images are available anymore online. The images where dynamically generated and not cached.
The only way I can think of is by making a screenshot and then cutting out each invidual image. Isn't there a better way of getting the data from the browsers memory?
This application is stored locally from our company image we are testing, but our users are using roaming profiles and each time they log in to a different computer or the main computer they work on iTunes keeps asking them to accept the licensing agreement. Is there anyway to keep this agreement from coming up since they are not storing this information in their profile or on the computer locally?
All the computers are on Windows 7 and we run a Server 2008 R2 Domain.
I have Gitorious running on a Centos 5.3 install on a VMWare virtual machine under VMWare Server. Everytime we take down the server via suspend to back up the image, and resume the VM, the git-daemon dies.
All my other processes continue to function without any problems, this one process dies and has to be manually be restarted.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening, or how to make sure this process never dies off?
I have recovered a CCTV camera hard disk after a crash and have managed to get most of the data using EasyRecovery Pro. The problem is now that all the data that I have recovered appear like File09.JPG with and image icon in windows XP, but the files can't be viewed in any JPEG viewer software.
I suspect that the .JPG files are indeed folders, but I can't force windows XP the change the file type.
Very Odd.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Hoo
i cant boot windows 7 and i dont have the bootable windows 7 dvd to repair, but i have a dvd image from wich i installed it, but when i start setup it shows only the option of instaling it.

The title says it all: I have a machine that has several partitions. I'd like to back it all up (preferably as a single image) and restore it to a single partition/maybe LVM. I've run into more and more trouble with the choice of partition sizes and decided it wasn't worth the trouble.
So I am in a situation where my wallpaper is locked to a specific image on my work computer via group policy. I can't change it via the Personalization settings since it is grayed out and says it has been set by the system administrator.
Anyone know some local GPO and/or registry hackery I can do to override the domain's policy? I could probably get away with logging in under a local account for this, but I want that to be a last resort.
Thanks in advance.
For ESXi5.1 (VMWare vSphere) images, I can see temperature data on the vSphere user interface (under Monitor / Hardware Status). I tried scouring the available snmp data using snmpwalk, but can't find the data anywhere in there.
Maybe I'm missing something. Does anybody know the right MIB for temperature data?
Otherwise, ow can that data be accessed?
By the way, this is a machine installed from an image provided by HP.
I have the same slideshow in the exact same folder (C:\Images) on two computers which are syncing their settings over the Microsoft account (mail and other settings synced normally), and I have independently configured them to display wallpaper slideshows from that folder. However, the "Synced Theme" in Personalise Desktop repeatedly resets to a static image. Is there a way to ensure the sync sticks?
Hi all I was trying to confirm my understanding of "standby list" and "modified list" as stated in this article.
Is it true that "Cached memory" (as shown in the image below) refers to memory that is currently cached (available for use), and memory that was previous cached (previously available for use), but currently used (now not available for use) ?
So if x = "Cached memory" (1184), y = "modified cache pages", z = "cached and were modified",
x = y + z holds true ?
Every time I want to save some image I paste into the Paint application,
it chooses a BMP/DIB format (which is the worst for saving things from the clipboard).
How can I hack this Windows pbrush application into defaulting to a JPEG format save always?
If it matters I am using Windows XP SP3 and Paint 5.1 at the moment.
But, I thought the hack would be generic, and I'd like to do this across all my Windows machines.
Well, I have a scanned PDF with some slightly changes made by hand and a source file. I wish to make a PDF, which would be searchable (based on the text from the source, the changes would remain as they are).
I am searching a free (and even better - portable) software which would allow me to somehow "combine" the images from a scan and the text from the source DOC file. So it SEEMS like the image is selectable and searchable.
I want build a third party tool to make our employees fill the Contact Form information , and then make him able to add his information as a signature image to the Lotus notes ..

I have a nettop which has no dvd drive. Could I make a small partiton on my hard drive, put all files from a win xp install disk image into that partition, and somehow make that bootable?
It currently has windows 7 installed.
