  i have created a maven web project using the below site. http://www.mkyong.com/maven/how-to-create-a-web-application-project-with-maven/ i have done all of the steps given there and executed the simple hello world program Now i have to include spring dependencies into my eclipse web project. So <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring</artifactId> <version>3.1.2</version> </dependency> in the dependencies tag i added the above code. It is saying as below unable to find jars from the repositories (local and as well as remote) it gave suggestion to execute the command mvn install -artifactid=springframework (something like this) but when i mentioned version as 2.5.6 it correctly take. is it the problem with the version 3.1.2 is unavailable at maven repository. how to get the latest versions if maven is not working properly for latest versions. It also gave me the suggestion to go for manually download and put in local repository

  Hello, A array gets filled up with random elements (negative and positive). Now i want to calculate the sum of ONLY the postive elements. Iterative there is no problem, but in the recursion version i can only get the sum of both negative and postive. How can i "check" in the recursive version that it only sums up the Postive elements? • TypeError when using v 0.8.1 of FLOT library, but no error with v. 0.7

  I need some help to figure out why I am getting an error when trying to create a simple graph using the jQuery FLOT library. When I reference version 0.7 of the FLOT library, the page renders correctly: http://attardpropertytax.ca/flot07.html But when I switch to version 0.8.1 of the FLOT library, the page returns an error saying: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'left' of null http://attardpropertytax.ca/flot81.html The HTML is the same for both pages, so I cannot figure out why the new version 0.8.1 of FLOT returns an error, but the old version 0.7 does not. Any ideas? I somehow stumbled across a work-around that managed to fix my problem. I would use the following API, but the API for PluginVersionIdentifier is deprecated: for (IConfigurationElement e : config) { BlueprintTemplate template = new BlueprintTemplate(); IExtension declaringExtension = e.getDeclaringExtension(); PluginVersionIdentifier versionIdentifier = declaringExtension.getDeclaringPluginDescriptor().getVersionIdentifier(); I could not find an alternative in the new API - i.e. from a IConfigurationElement, how do I get the version id descriptor of the bundle. Obviously, from the Bundle I can get the version using the Bundle.getHeaders(), getting the Bundle-Version value - but how do I get the Bundle in the first place??? Platform.getBundle(bundleId) is not enough since I might have multiple versions of same bundle installed, and I need to know who I am. At the moment I have a chicken & egg situation, and the only solution I have is the above deprecated API.

• Using custom detectors with FindBugs Maven plugin

  I have a nice JAR of some custom FindBugs detectors I'd like to use with the FindBugs Maven plugin. There is a way to do this with the plugin via the <pluginList> configuration parameter, but that only accepts local files, URLs, or resources. The only way I found for doing so is to somehow copy my JAR to a local file (maybe via the Dependency plugin) and then configure the FindBugs plugin something like this: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>findbugs-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.3.1</version> <configuration> <pluginList>${project.build.directory}/my-detectors.jar</pluginList> </configuration> </plugin> But this is not very flexible. Is there a way to use Maven's dependency management features together with FindBugs' plugins? • Imlpementations of an Interface with Different Types?

  Searched as best I could but unfortunately I've learned nothing relevant; basically I'm trying to work around the following problem in C#... For example, I have three possible references (refA, refB, refC) and I need to load the correct one depending on a configuration option. So far however I can't see a way of doing it that doesn't require me to use the name of said referenced object all through the code (the referenced objects are provided, I can't change them). Hope the following code makes more sense: public ??? LoadedClass; public Init() { /* load the object, according to which version we need... */ if (Config.Version == "refA") { Namespace.refA LoadedClass = new refA(); } else if (Config.Version == "refB") { Namespace.refB LoadedClass = new refB(); } else if (Config.Version == "refC") { Namespace.refC LoadedClass = new refC(); } Run(); } private void Run(){ { LoadedClass.SomeProperty... LoadedClass.SomeMethod(){ etc... } } As you can see, I need the Loaded class to be public, so in my limited way I'm trying to change the type 'dynamically' as I load in which real class I want. Each of refA, refB and refC will implement the same properties and methods but with different names. Again, this is what I'm working with, not by my design. All that said, I tried to get my head around Interfaces (which sound like they're what I'm after) but I'm looking at them and seeing strict types - which makes sense to me, even if it's not useful to me. Any and all ideas and opinions are welcome and I'll clarify anything if necessary. Excuse any silly mistakes I've made in the terminology, I'm learning all this for the first time. I'm really enjoying working with an OOP language so far though - coming from PHP this stuff is blowing my mind :-)

• ASP.NET 2.0 in Virtual Trying to Use SQL State Server

  We have IIS 6 running on a W2003 Server. The root web site is running a v1.1 site. Under this site we have a virtual running a v2.0 site (with a separate application pool). The web.config for the root site is using SQL as its state server and has a 1.1 SQL state server database installed. The 2.0 virtual web.config does not need state and its web.config has no reference to a state server. When we attempt to call the virtual we receive this error message. "Unable to use SQL Server because ASP.NET version 2.0 Session State is not installed on the SQL server. Please install ASP.NET Session State SQL Server version 2.0 or above. This issue is currently only occurring on one web server. The rest are able to run the 2.0 virtual application. I also notice that if we call the 2.0 virtual with the IP address it does not generate the error, however if we call it with the host header name it generates the error (this behavior is only on the 1 web server with the error, all the others can be called with either the ip or host header without error). As an additional note the root and virtual are running with SSL. My theory is that the virtual 2.0 application is inheriting the 1.1 web.config state server entry from the root and when it looks at the state server it sees it as a 1.1 version and reports the error that it needs a 2.0 state server. I however cannot understand why the other servers are not behaving in this matter. All of the servers are on the same OS service pack as well as the same version of .net framework. Any ideas? Thanks

• Installing Plugins from Cloud p2 repository in Eclipse IDE

  I have been recently reading a lot about p2 for a requirement of mine. Most of the p2 documentation online points to p2 for RCP. My requirement is for a plugin repo. I have a plugin that is used within Eclipse IDE. I dnt want to change the repo location but based on the Eclipse Version, if the user looks for Install New Software or Check for Updates it needs to download the respective plugins. My repo currently contains all the plugins for all the versions. but i need to everytime give a different URL to my user based on the Version. For e.g i am using Eclipse 3.7(Indigo). I install the plugin thru Install New Software by adding the p2 Repo URL. Now the user decides to for some requirement move to Eclipse 3.6, I want him to connect to the same p2 Repo URL and download the plugins created for Eclipse 3.6. This is definitely possible using p2 Discovery, or i could categorize the downloads using composite repository but i dnt want to do any of these. Just want to kno is there any API that i can hold on to, so that before processing the URL and finding the updates, i can check the version of Eclipse and redirect it based on the version to an internal URL. This is possible in RCP, want to kno if i can do it in Eclipse p2 UI. All the p2 UI looks to be internal classes. Any directives would be appreciated. Malai

• DotNetOpenAuth getting return_To url as the provider

  I have a provider that I'm upgrading from version 2 to version 3. basically a user comes to one of our sites and we say "if you don't have an openID sign up with this one" They click that and are sent to our in house provider what signs them up for an account and has to verify their email address. In the link I send via Email I included the return to url . This way when they click the link to verify their email (sometimes up to a week later) they are sent to our page that knows to send them back to the returnTo to login. I could not find a good way to do this in version 2 so I used a hack.   Hi, When I moved my website over to another server I've noticed now that ajax doesn't appear to be working. When I remote desktop to the server and go to the url on the server i.e. http://myserver/mywebsite ... everything works ok. When I open up the website in visual studio on the server it works as no problem as well. It's only when I connect remotely that the 'javascript' error occurs. • C++ creating generic template function specialisations

  I know how to specialise a template function, however what I want to do here is specialise a function for all types which have a given method, eg: template<typename T> void foo(){...} template<typename T, if_exists(T::bar)>void foo(){...}//always use this one if the method T::bar exists T::bar in my classes is static and has different return types. I tried doing this by having an empty base class ("class HasBar{};") for my classes to derive from and using boost::enable_if with boost::is_base_of on my "specialised" version. However the problem then is that for classes that do have bar, the compiler cant resolve which one to use :(. template<typename T> typename boost::enable_if<boost::is_base_of(HasBar, T>, void>::type f() {...} I know that I could use boost::disable_if on the "normal" version, however I do not control the normal version (its provided by a third party library and its expected for specialisations to be made, I just don't really want to make explicit specialisations for my 20 or so classes), nor do I have that much control over the code using these functions, just the classes implementing T::bar and the function that uses it. Is there some way to tell the compiler to "always use this version if possible no matter what" without altering the other versions?

• [PHP] Local/Dev/Live deployment - best workflow

  Hello, situation We our little company with 3 people, each has a localhost webserver and most projects (previous and current) are on one PC network shared disk. We have virtual server, where some of our clients' sites and our site. Our standard workflow is: Coder PC ? Programmer localhost ? dev domain (client.company.com) ? live version (client.com) It often happens, that there are two or three guys working on same projects at the same time - one is on dev version, two are on localhost. When finished, we try to synchronize the files on dev version and ideally not to mess up any files, which *knock knock * doesn't happen often. And then one of us deploys dev version on live webserver. question we are looking for a way to simplify this workflow while updating websites - ideally some sort of diff uploader or VCS probably (Git/SVN/VCS/...), but we are not completely sure where to begin or what way would be ideal, therefore I ask you, fellow stackoverflowers for your experience with website / application deployment and recommended workflow. We probably will also need to use Mac in process, so if it won't be a problem, that would be even better. Thank you

  I'm running MOSS 2007 and have created a new site under an existing one using sitemanager.aspx. I've done this on two machines. on one of those everything works correctly, while on the other some of the menu items for pages in the site seem to be gone. Also on the faulty site I get "Access denied" when I click "Version history". The permissions on both sites should be the same. I attach a screenshot of how the menus differ from each other. The one to the right (the faulty one) is unfortunately not in English but the items appearing on it are "Open link in a new window", "Copy", "Edit page settings" and "Version history".   I constantly hear from other people about how much of the stuff they've used to customize their *nix setup they've shamelessly stolen from other people. So in that spirit, I'd like to start a place to share that stuff here on SO. Here are the rules: DON'T POST YOUR ENTIRE DOTFILE. Instead, just show us the cool stuff. One recipe per answer You may, however, post multiple versions of your recipe in the same answer. For example, you may post a version that works for bash, a version that works for zsh, and a version that works for csh in the same answer. State what shells you know your recipe will work with in the answer. Let's build this cookbook as a team. If you find out that an answer works with other shells other than the one the author posted, edit it in. If you like an idea and rewrite it to work with another shell, edit the modified version in to the original post. Give credit where credit is due. If you got your idea from someone else, give them credit if possible. And for those of you (justifiably) asking "Why do we need another one of these threads?": Most of what I've seen is along the lines of "post your entire dotfile." Personally, I don't want to try to parse through a person's entire dotfile to figure out what I want. I just want to know about all the cool parts of it. It's helpful to have a single dotfile thread. I think most of the stuff that works in bash will work in zsh and it may be adapted to work with csh fairly easily.

• OpenSwan IPsec connection drops after 30 seconds

  I'm trying to connection from my Linux Mint 16 box to a CloudStack server. Building up the connection works (pings work across the tunnel). However 30 seconds later the IPsec tunnel gets terminated out of the blue. What could cause this consistent behaviour and how to fix it? The tunnel is setup using OpenSwan (U2.6.38/K(no kernel code presently loaded)) with the L2TP IPsec VPN manager from Werner Jaeger 1.0.9. The client is behind a NAT'ed router and the server is on public IP (CloudStack 4.2) Running ipsec verify complains about IPsec support in kernel. • Why is Windows Update trying to install an update I don't need?

  I have a Windows 7 system that currently has a single update pending: Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems If I try to install the update, Windows Update will: Create a restore point Fail with the error: Code 9C48 Windows Update encountered an error. The event log for the event reads: Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems. If you search the web for that error, there are many other people with the exact same issue. Sadly, I am unable to apply the proposed solutions to my case, because I just installed this system. There is nothing on it, except Windows 7. I installed the system and ran through the updates. I also did the exact same process with this machine several times over the past few days due to a long-term test we just started. I didn't have any problems with any Windows Update on the previous installation runs and I know I didn't do anything different this time because I followed the installation procedures instructions which are to be used during the test. How did this happen and how do I solve it? Further Investigation So, as I always like to do, I ran the update again while running Process Monitor and dug up further details. • How to display different value with ComboBoxTableCell?

  I try to use ComboxBoxTableCell without success. The content of the cell display the right value for the attribute of an object. But when the combobox is displayed, all items are displayed with the toString object method and not the attribute. I tryed to override updateItem of ComboBoxTableCell or to provide a StringConverter but nothing works. Do you have some ideas to custom comboxbox list display in a table cell ? • Android - creating a custom preferences activity screen

  Android applications can maintain their own internal preferences (and allow them to be modified by users) with very little coding. In fact, you don't even need to write an code to explicitly save these preferences, it's all handled automatically! Create a new Android project, with an intial activity title Main. Create two more activities: ShowPrefs, which extends Activity Set Prefs, which extends PreferenceActivity Add these two to your AndroidManifest.xml file: <activity android:name=".SetPrefs"></activity> <activity android:name=".ShowPrefs"></activity> Now we'll work on fleshing out each activity. First, open up the main.xml layout file and add a couple of buttons to it: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"    android:orientation="vertical"    android:layout_width="fill_parent"    android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <Button android:text="Edit Preferences"    android:id="@+id/prefButton"    android:layout_width="wrap_content"    android:layout_height="wrap_content"    android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal"/> <Button android:text="Show Preferences"    android:id="@+id/showButton"    android:layout_width="wrap_content"    android:layout_height="wrap_content"    android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal"/> </LinearLayout> Next, create a couple button listeners in Main.java to handle the clicks and start the other activities: Button editPrefs = (Button) findViewById(R.id.prefButton);       editPrefs.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {              public void onClick(View view) {                  Intent myIntent = new Intent(view.getContext(), SetPrefs.class);                  startActivityForResult(myIntent, 0);              }      });           Button showPrefs = (Button) findViewById(R.id.showButton);      showPrefs.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {              public void onClick(View view) {                  Intent myIntent = new Intent(view.getContext(), ShowPrefs.class);                  startActivityForResult(myIntent, 0);              }      }); Now, we'll create the actual preferences layout. Add this inside the PreferenceScreen tags: <PreferenceCategory android:title="First Category"> </PreferenceCategory> Now add a Checkbox and an Edittext box (inside the PreferenceCategory tags): <CheckBoxPreference    android:key="checkboxPref"    android:title="Checkbox Preference"    android:summary="This preference can be true or false"    android:defaultValue="false"/> <EditTextPreference    android:key="editTextPref"    android:title="EditText Preference"    android:summary="This allows you to enter a string"    android:defaultValue="Nothing"/> The key is how you will refer to the preference in code, the title is the large text that will be displayed, and the summary is the smaller text (this will make sense when you see it). Let's say we've got a second group of preferences that apply to a different part of the app. Add a new category just below the first one: <PreferenceCategory android:title="Second Category"> </PreferenceCategory> In there we'll a list with radio buttons, so add: <ListPreference    android:key="listPref"    android:title="List Preference"    android:summary="This preference lets you select an item in a array"    android:entries="@array/listArray"    android:entryValues="@array/listValues" /> When complete, your full xml file should look like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <PreferenceScreen xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">  <PreferenceCategory android:title="First Category"> <CheckBoxPreference    android:key="checkboxPref"    android:title="Checkbox Preference"    android:summary="This preference can be true or false"    android:defaultValue="false"/> <EditTextPreference    android:key="editTextPref"    android:title="EditText Preference"    android:summary="This allows you to enter a string"    android:defaultValue="Nothing"/>  </PreferenceCategory>  <PreferenceCategory android:title="Second Category">   <ListPreference    android:key="listPref"    android:title="List Preference"    android:summary="This preference lets you select an item in a array"    android:entries="@array/listArray"    android:entryValues="@array/listValues" />  </PreferenceCategory> </PreferenceScreen> However, when you try to save it, you'll get an error because you're missing your array definition. To fix this, add a file called arrays.xml in res/values, and paste in the following: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <resources>  <string-array name="listArray">      <item>Value 1</item>      <item>Value 2</item>      <item>Value 3</item>  </string-array>  <string-array name="listValues">      <item>1</item>      <item>2</item>      <item>3</item>  </string-array> </resources> Finally (for the preferences screen at least...) add the code that will display the preferences layout to the SetPrefs.java file:  @Override     public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {      super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);      addPreferencesFromResource(R.xml.preferences);      } OK, so now we've got an activity that will set preferences, and save them without the need to write custom save code. Let's throw together an activity to work with the saved preferences. US govt e-card scam hits confidential data A fake U.S. government Christmas e-card has managed to siphon off gigabytes of sensitive data from a number of law enforcement and military staff who work on cybersecurity matters, many of whom are involved in computer crime investigations. Security tool uncovers multiple bugs in every browser Michal Zalewski reports that he discovered the vulnerability in Internet Explorer a while ago using his cross_fuzz fuzzing tool and reported it to Microsoft in July 2010. Zalewski also used cross_fuzz to discover bugs in other browsers, which he also reported to the relevant organisations. Microsoft to fix Windows holes, but not ones in IE Microsoft said that it will release two security bulletins next week fixing three holes in Windows, but it is still investigating or working on fixing holes in Internet Explorer that have been reportedly exploited in attacks. Microsoft warns of Windows flaw affecting image rendering Microsoft has warned of a Windows vulnerability that could allow an attacker to take control of a computer if the user is logged on with administrative rights. Windows 7 Not Affected by Critical 0-Day in the Windows Graphics Rendering Engine While confirming that details on a Critical zero-day vulnerability have made their way into the wild, Microsoft noted that customers running the latest iteration of Windows client and server platforms are not exposed to any risks. Microsoft warns of Office-related malware Microsoft’s Malware Protection Center issued a warning this week that it has spotted malicious code on the Internet that can take advantage of a flaw in Word and infect computers after a user does nothing more than read an e-mail. *Refers to a flaw that was addressed in the November security patch releases. Unpatched hole in ImgBurn disk burning application According to security specialist Secunia, a highly critical vulnerability in ImgBurn, a lightweight disk burning application, can be used to remotely compromise a user’s system. Hole in VLC Media Player Virtual Security Research (VSR) has identified a vulnerability in VLC Media Player. In versions up to and including 1.1.5 of the VLC Media Player.
