• CStdioFile Undeclared Identifier

  I am unable to compile my code when using a CStdioFile type. I have included the afx.h header file but I am still receiving errors. What I am trying to do is write a cstring that contains an entire xml document to file. This cstring contains comments inside of it, but when I use other objects such as wofstream to write it to file, these comments are striped out for some reason. So that is why I am trying to write this to file using CStdioFile now. If anyone can help me out as to why I cannot compile my code using CStdioFile, or any other way to write a cstring that contains xml comments to file, please let me know!   hello again Such a simple concept but I'm struggling to express it ... apologies in advance for my verbosity. I have a container div with a class, e.g., ; I want to use that class to do two things: add a class (e.g., 'active') to the nav element whose ID matches the class of div#container (e.g., #nav-primary li# apples) add the same class to another element if part of this element's ID matches the class of #container (e.g., div#secondary-apples) I assume there's an .each() loop to check the primary nav's list items' IDs, and to check the div IDs of the secondary nav ... though the latter needs to have its prefix trimmed ... or should I say more simply if the secondary nav div IDs contain the class of div#container? • Problem with IE

• J2ME cache issue

  I have to write a J2ME app to retrieve images from server and display in mobile phone. I have seen and test that Snaptu have a mechanism to cache image, event with 100 images (both normal size and zoom size). I wonder how they can do that? I though that those guys use rms to save image stream to data. But when i check in working folder of simulater( I use Windows XP and Sun Wireless Toolkit 3.0, the Emulator device i use to run my program is CLDC Device 1 - my working folder is C:\Document And Settings\Administrator\javame-sdk\3.0\work\6\appdb), i see some .db file. When i delete these files, i still can view cache image in my emulator???? I also thought that those guys use heap memory to save image. But it is not correct because when i set limit device memory is 2MB (like some mobile phones), and i load and view 100 images in zoom size, it didn't make OutOfMemory Error? It so weird. Any one can help me? Thanks

• Triple Quotes? How do I delimit a databound Javascript string parameter in ASP.NET?

  How do I delimit a Javascript databound string parameter in an anchor OnClick event? I have an anchor tag in an ASP.NET Repeater control. The OnClick event of the anchor contains a call to a Javascript function. The Javascript funciton takes a string for it's input parameter. The string parameter is populated with a databound value from the Repeater. I need the 'double quotes' for the Container.DataItem. I need the 'single quotes' for the OnClick. And I still need one more delimiter (triple quotes?) for the input string parameter of the Javascript function call. Since I can't use 'single quotes' again, how do I ensure the Javascript function knows the input parameter is a string and not an integer? Without the extra quotes around the input string parameter, the Javascript function thinks I'm passing in an integer. Cheers in advance for any knowledge you can drop. • Allow selection of readonly files from SaveFileDialog?

  I'm using Microsoft.Win32.SaveFileDialog in an app where all files are saved as readonly but the user needs to be able to choose existing files. The existing files being replaced are renamed eg: blah.png becomes blah.png-0.bak, blah.png-1.bak and so on. Thus, the language for the OverwritePrompt is inappropriate - we are not allowing them to overwrite files - so I'm setting dlog.OverwritePrompt = false; The initial filenames for the dialog are generated based on document values so for them, it's easy - we rename the candidate file in advance and if the user cancels or chooses a different name, rename it back again. When I delivered the feature, testers swiftly complained because they wanted to repeatedly save files with names different from the agreed workflow (those goofy, playful guys!). I can't figure out a way to do this with the standard dialogs, in a way that will run safely on both XP (for now) and Windows 7. • Text Hints with JQuery and JavaScript for loop

  Hey guys! I'm developing a small app where i ask users to put some info. I want to show text hints in the input fields. I do this in a for loop... When the page is loaded, the hints are displayed correctly but nothing happens on 'focus' and 'blur' events... I'm wondering why since when I don't use a 'for loop' in my js code, everything works find... By the way the reason I use a for loop is because I don't want to repeat myself following 'DRY' principles... Thx for your help! • What's a good Java API for creating Word documents?

  I have a new app I'll be working on where I have to generate a Word document that contains tables, graphs, a table of contents and text. What's a good API to use for this? How sure are you that it supports graphs, ToCs, and tables? What are some hidden gotcha's in using them? Some clarifications: I can't output a PDF, they want a Word doc. They're using MS Word 2003 (or 2007), not OpenOffice Application is running on *nix app-server It'd be nice if I could start with a template doc and just fill in some spaces with tables, graphs, etc. Thanks for the help. Edit: Several good answers below, each with their own faults as far as my current situation. Hard to pick a "final answer" from them. Think I'll leave it open, and hope for better solutions to be created. Edit: The OpenOffice UNO project does seem to be closest to what I asked for. While POI is certainly more mainstream, it's too immature for what I want.

  As a newb to jQuery im wondering if its possible to have both jQuery _renderItem (for custom list item HTML/CSS) AND the categories working together in harmony? Ive got my _renderItem working great but I have no idea how to incorporate categories into the mix.   I'm currently working with the SoundCloud API and would like to have a track embed when a button is clicked. I get two errors: XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://soundcloud.com/oembed.json?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F48419073. Origin null is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin. • jquery slideDown menu

  Hi, I have a link which once hovered over a box below slides down, once hover is removed it slides back up. I have it working almost to how I want, although in IE8 (Havent tested in other IE yet) the text in the box which slides down is not centerd. In firefox, when it slides down the corners are not smooth, but they are in IE.   The directory structure: C:/wamp/www/application/model/data_access/data_object.php C:/wamp/www/application/model/users/user.class.php C:/wamp/www/application/controller/projects.php C:/wamp/www/application/controller/links/links.php I have 2 php files data_object.php and user.class.php Now user.class.php has an include statement for data_object.php wchih is relative to user.class.php.These two files are under different directory hierarchy. Now I have to include this user.class.php in various files (like projects.php, links.php-which themselves are under different hierarchy) whenever i want to create a User() object. The problem is the relative path for file inclusion of data_object.php does work for say projects.php but if i open links.php the error message says it could not open file data_object.php in user.class.php. What i think is for relative inclusion of data_object.php it is considering the path of the file in which user.class.php is included. I am facing such problems in more than one scenarios I have to keep my directory structure the way it is but have to find a way to work with nested includes. I used Document root of session it give root path as C:/wamp/www/ i appended the path for data_object.php include but this is not working. (note: the forward slash is present after www) I am currently running on wamp server's localhost but after completion i have to host the solution on a domain. Pls help

• jquery 'this' confusion

  Hi I have the code below, once the first (only) item in the menu is hovered over, the subtext should appear. I have used 'this' as I thought it should find the class with the "li" and then slideDown. • JS Object this.method() breaks via jQuery

  I'm sure there's a simple answer to this, but it's Friday afternoon and I'm tired. :( Not sure how to explain it, so I'll just go ahead and post example code... Here is a simple object: var Bob = { Stuff : '' , init : function() { this.Stuff = arguments[0] } , doSomething : function() { console.log( this.Stuff ); } } And here it is being used: $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(document).ready( init ); function init() { Bob.init('hello'); Bob.doSomething(); $j('#MyButton').click( Bob.doSomething ); } Everything works, except for the last line. When jQuery calls the doSomething method it is overriding 'this' and stopping it from working. Trying to use just Stuff doesn't work either. So how do I refer to an object's own properties in a way that allows jQuery to call it, and also allows the object to work with the calling jQuery object? i.e. I would like to be able to do things like this: doSomething : function() { console.log( <CurrentObject>.Stuff + $j(<CallerElement>).attr('id') ); } (Where <CurrentObject> and <CallerElement> are replaced with appropriate names.)

• Embedded non-relational (nosql) data store

  I'm thinking about using/implementing some kind of an embedded key-value (or document) store for my Windows desktop application. I want to be able to store various types of data (GPS tracks would be one example) and of course be able to query this data. The amount of data would be such that it couldn't all be loaded into memory at the same time. I'm thinking about using sqlite as a storage engine for a key-value store, something like y-serial, but written in .NET. I've also read about FriendFeed's usage of MySQL to store schema-less data, which is a good pointer on how to use RDBMS for non-relational data. sqlite seems to be a good option because of its simplicity, portability and library size. My question is whether there are any other options for an embedded non-relational store? It doesn't need to be distributable and it doesn't have to support transactions, but it does have to be accessible from .NET and it should have a small download size. UPDATE: I've found an article titled SQLite as a Key-Value Database which compares sqlite with Berkeley DB, which is an embedded key-value store library.

• bxSlider-4 text slide pass into the next slide

  I use http://bxslider.com/ to slide some content, just simple text. But it seem to have a problem with the text, not the image. • asp.net mvc ajax form helper/post additional data

  I would like to use the ajax helper to create ajax requests that send additional, dynamic data with the post (for example, get the last element with class = blogCommentDateTime and send the value of that last one to the controller which will return only blog comments after it). I have successfully done so with the help of jQuery Form plugin like so: $(document).ready(function () { $("#addCommentForm").submit(function () { var lastCommentDate = $(".CommentDateHidden:last").val(); var lastCommentData = { lastCommentDateTicks: lastCommentDate }; var formSubmitParams = { data: lastCommentData, success: AddCommentResponseHandler } $("#addCommentForm").ajaxSubmit(formSubmitParams); return false; }); This form was created with html.beginform() method. I am wondering if there is an easy way to do this using the ajax.beginform() helper? When I try to use the same code but replace html.beginform() with ajax.beginform(), when i try to submit the form, I am issuing 2 posts (which is understandable, one being taken care of by the helper, the other one by me with the JS above. I can't create 2 requests, so this option is out) I tried getting rid of the return false and changing ajaxSubmit() to ajaxForm() so that it would only "prepare" the form, and this leads in only one post, but it does not include the extra parameter that I defined, so this is worthless as well. I then tried keeping the ajaxForm() but calling that whenever the submit button on the form gets clicked rather than when the form gets submitted (I guess this is almost the same thing) and that results in 2 posts also. The biggest reason I am asking this question is that I have run in to some issues with the javascript above and using mvc validation provided by the mvc framework (which i will set up another question for) and would like to know this so I can dive further in to my validation issue.
