  • Animate jquery ui slider handle to specific value

    - by user1159555
    I'm trying to animate a jquery UI handle to a specifiv value. My code is this so far. $("#slider1").slider({ max:350, min:100, animate: 'slow', step:10, animate: "true", value: 0, change: function() { // This setTimeout will allow the slider to animated correctly. setTimeout("$('#slider1').slider('value', 200);", 350); } slide: function(event, ui) { $("#amount").val(ui.value); $(this).find('.ui-slider-handle').html('<div class="sliderControl-label v-labelCurrent">'+ui.value+'</div>'); update(); } }); $('#slider').slider('value', 200); How do I make it so that 1) The handle will go to the specific value on page load and 2) The handle can be freely moved after the page has loaded and the animation has finished. Cheers, Jonah

  • JS Object this.method() breaks via jQuery

    - by Peter Boughton
    I'm sure there's a simple answer to this, but it's Friday afternoon and I'm tired. :( Not sure how to explain it, so I'll just go ahead and post example code... Here is a simple object: var Bob = { Stuff : '' , init : function() { this.Stuff = arguments[0] } , doSomething : function() { console.log( this.Stuff ); } } And here it is being used: $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(document).ready( init ); function init() { Bob.init('hello'); Bob.doSomething(); $j('#MyButton').click( Bob.doSomething ); } Everything works, except for the last line. When jQuery calls the doSomething method it is overriding 'this' and stopping it from working. Trying to use just Stuff doesn't work either. So how do I refer to an object's own properties in a way that allows jQuery to call it, and also allows the object to work with the calling jQuery object? i.e. I would like to be able to do things like this: doSomething : function() { console.log( <CurrentObject>.Stuff + $j(<CallerElement>).attr('id') ); } (Where <CurrentObject> and <CallerElement> are replaced with appropriate names.)

  • What's the difference between reflow and repaint?

    - by Jon Raasch
    I'm a little unclear on the difference between reflow + repaint (if there's any difference at all) Seems like reflow might be shifting the position of various DOM elements, where repaint is just rendering a new object. E.g. reflow would occur when removing an element and repaint would occur when changing its color. Is this true?

  • jqGrid local date manipulation; problem with row ids when deleting and adding new rows

    - by Sam
    I'm using jqGrid as a client side grid input, allowing the user to input multiple records before POSTing all the data back at once. I'm having a problem where if the user has added a few records (say 3 ) the id's for the records will be 1,2,3. if the user deletes record 2, you're left with 1 and 3 for the id of the records. When the user now adds a new records, jqGrid assigns that records the id 3 again since it just seems to count the total records and increments it by one for the new record. This causes problems when selecting rows as now the row id's are 1, 3 and 3. Does anyone know how to access the row ids of records as I could probably use the afterSubmit event and reassign the row id's increasing from 1. ( so after i delete row id 2, this will set the other row id's to 1 and 2) Any other suggestions to solve this problem? Thanks

  • Communicate between content script and options page

    - by Gaurang Tandon
    I have seen many questions already and all are about background page to content script. Summary My extension has an options page, and a content script. The content script handles the storage functionality (chrome.storage manipulation). Whenever, a user changes a setting in the options page, I want to send a message to the content script to store the new data. My code: options.js var data = "abcd"; // let data chrome.tabs.query({ active: true, currentWindow: true }, function (tabs) { chrome.tabs.sendMessage(tabs[0].id, "storeData:" + data, function(response){ console.log(response); // gives undefined :( }); }); content script js chrome.runtime.onMessage.addListener(function(request, sender, sendResponse) { // not working }); My question: Why isn't the approach not working? Is there any other (better) approach for this procedure.

  • DOM memory issue with IE8 (inserting lots of JSON data)

    - by okie.floyd
    i am developing a small web-utility that displays some data from some database tables. i have the utility running fine on FF, Safari, Chrome..., but the memory management on IE8 is horrendous. the largest JSON request I do will return information to create around 5,000 or so rows in a table within the browser (3 columns in the table). i'm using jquery to get the data (via getJSON). to remove the old/existing table, i'm just doing a $('#my_table_tbody').empty(). to add the new info to the table, within the getJSON callback, i am just appending each table row that i am creating to a variable, and then once i have them all, i am using $('#my_table_tbody').append(myVar) to add it to the existing tbody. i don't add the table rows as they are created because that seems to be a lot slower than just adding them all at once. does anyone have any recommendation on what someone should do who is trying to add thousands of rows of data to the DOM? i would like to stay away from pagination, but i'm wondering if i don't have a choice. Update 1 So here is the code I was trying after the innerHTML suggestion: /* Assuming a div called 'main_area' holds the table */ document.getElementById('main_area').innerHTML = ''; $.getJSON("my_server", {my: JSON, args: are, in: here}, function(j) { var mylength = j.length; var k =0; var tmpText = ''; tmpText += /* Add the table, thead stuff, and tbody tags here */; for (k = mylength - 1; k = 0; k--) { /* stack overflow wont let me type greater than & less than signs here, so just assume that they are there. */ tmpText += 'tr class="' + j[k].row_class . '" td class="col1_class" ' + j[k].col1 + ' /td td class="col2_class" ' + j[k].col2 + ' /td td class="col3_class" ' + j[k].col3 + ' /td /tr'; } document.getElementById('main_area').innerHTML = tmpText; } That is the gist of it. I've also tried using just a $.get request, and having the server send the formatted HTML, and just setting that in the innerHTML (i.e. document.getElementById('main_area').innerHTML = j;). thanks for all of the replies. i'm floored with the fact that you all are willing to help.

  • JQUERY UI Dialog Box - Close Function

    - by David Bonnici
    Hi Guys, I have a problem with the jquery-ui dialog box. The problem is that when I close the dialog box and then I click on the link that triggers it, it does not pop-up again unless I refresh the page. How can I call the dialog box back without refreshing the actual page. Have a look: $(document).ready(function() { $('#showTerms').click(function() { $('#terms').css('display','inline'); $('#terms').dialog({resizable: false, modal: true, width: 400, height: 450, overlay: { backgroundColor: "#000", opacity: 0.5 }, buttons:{ "Close": function() { $(this).dialog("close"); } }, close: function(ev, ui) { $(this).remove(); }, }); }); Thanks

  • Scroll to anchor

    - by ZyX
    I have the following userjs which is intended to remove anchor part of the URL but still jump to it: // ==UserScript== // @name PurgeAnchor // @include * // ==/UserScript== (function() { var reg=/^(.*)\#(.*)$/; var match=reg.exec(location); function ObjectPosition(obj) { var curtop = 0; if(obj.offsetParent) while(1) { curtop += obj.offsetTop; if(!obj.offsetParent) break; obj = obj.offsetParent; } else if(obj.y) curtop += obj.y; return curtop; } if(match) { document.location.replace(match[1]); sessionStorage.setItem("anchor", match[2]); } window.addEventListener("load", (function() { var anchor=sessionStorage.getItem("anchor"); if(anchor!==null) { var obj=document.getElementById(anchor); if(obj===null) { obj=document.getElementsByName(anchor)[0]; } var pos=0; if(obj!==null) { pos=ObjectPosition(obj); window.scrollTo(0, pos); } sessionStorage.removeItem("anchor"); } }), false); })() The problem is that if I have an empty <a> tag with the name set, it fails to jump. obj.scrollIntoView() also fails.   • Destructuring assignment in generator expressions and array comprehensions

    - by Eli Grey
    Why does for ([] in object); work fine but [void 0 for ([] in object)] or (void 0 for ([] in object)) throw a syntax error for invalid left-hand assignment? For example, I would expect the following code to work, but it doesn't (the assertion isn't even done due to the syntax error): let ( i = 0, arr = [1, 2, 3, 4], gen = (i for (i in arr) if (arr.hasOwnProperty(i)) ) { for ([] in gen) i++; console.assertEquals([void 0 for ([] in gen)].length, i); }

  • Defining functions and if statement problems

    - by David Fairbairn
    I'm having a problem with two functions and an if statement. I'm being told the functions go and postcodeChange are not defined. I'm also being told flag is an unexpected identifier at if flag == 1. Any idea where I am going wrong? Thank you. function postcodeChange(){ document.getElementById("goButton").onclick = distanceCheck; } function distanceCheck(){ var distance = document.getElementById("distance").value var patt1=new RegExp("^[0-9]+(\.[0-9]{1})?$"); var out = patt1.exec(distance); if (out == null) { //distance is not a valid number document.getElementById("distanceFlag").value = 1 } else { //distance is valid number document.getElementById("distanceFlag").value = 0 } function go(){ var flag = document.getElementById("distanceFlag").value if flag == 1 { alert("Distance is not valid- enter a number with no more than one decimal point"); } else{ popSubmit('#fa Care Provider Search Go','','0'); } }

  • Using the Module Pattern for larger projects

    - by Rob
    I'm interested in using the Module Pattern to better organize my future projects. Unfortunately, there are only a few brief tutorials and proof-of-concept examples of the Module Pattern. Using the module pattern, I would like to organize projects into this sort of structure: project.arm.object.method(); Where "project" is my global project name, "arm" is a sub-section or branch of the project, "object" is an individual object, and so on to the methods and properties. However, I'm not sure how I should be declaring and organizing multiple "arms" and "objects" under "project". var project = window.project || {}; project.arm = project.arm || {}; project.arm.object = (function() { var privateVar = "Private contents."; function privateMethod() { alert(privateVar); } return { method: privateMethod }; }()); Are there any best practices or conventions when defining a complex module structure? Should I just declare a new arm/object underneath the last?

  • adding a class when link is clicked from Wordpress loop

    - by Carey Estes
    I am trying to isolate and add a class to a clicked anchor tag. The tags are getting pulled from a Wordpress loop. I can write JQuery to remove the "static" class, but it is removing the class from all tags in the div rather than just the one clicked and not adding the "active" class. Here is the WP loop <div class="more"> <a class="static" href="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/work/">ALL</a> <?php foreach ($tax_terms as $tax_term) { echo '<a class="static" href="' . esc_attr(get_term_link($tax_term, $taxonomy)) . '" title="' . sprintf( __( "View all posts in %s" ), $tax_term->name ) . '" ' . '>' . $tax_term->name.'</a>'; } ?> </div> Generates this html: <div class="more"> <a class="static" href="#">ALL</a> <a class="static" href="#">Things</a> <a class="static" href="#"> More Things</a> <a class="static" href="#">Objects</a> <a class="static" href="#">Goals</a> <a class="static" href="#">Books</a> <a class="static" href="#">Drawings</a> <a class="static" href="#">Thoughts</a> </div> JQuery: $("div.more a").on("click", function () { $("a.static").removeClass("static"); $(this).addClass("active"); }); I have reviwed the other similar questions here and here, but neither solution is working for me. Can this be done with JQuery or should I put a click event in the html inline anchor? It looks like it is working just for a second until the page reloads.

  • Why does the jQuery on this page work for Internet Explorer 8, but nothing else?

    - by Ben McCormack
    I made a web page that uses jQuery: http://benmccormack.com/demo/MichaelMassPsalm/Psalm16Mode5.html When you change the selection in the combo box from Higher Key to Lower Key, all of the music images are supposed to change their source to be images that represent the lower key signature. This works great in IE8, but it won't work in Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. Why not? Here's the jQuery code that I'm using: $(document).ready(function () { $("#musicKey").change(function (event) { if ($("#musicKey").val() * 1) { $("img[src*='Low'").each(function (index) { $(this).attr("src", $(this).attr("src").replace("Low", "High")); }); } else { $("img[src*='High'").each(function (index) { $(this).attr("src", $(this).attr("src").replace("High", "Low")); }); } }); });

  • EasyXDM passing data issue

    - by Jeff Ryan
    I'm using rpc with XDM, and I can send simple data back and forth easily between child and parent window. But it seems to be limited to simple strings and numbers. The demos on the site only use numbers. When I try to send a json ecoded string, I get a cross domain error. When I use cors, I can make ajax requests fine, but I can't display the child page in the iframe, because the data is returned and not rendered. My question is, how can I render an iframe, and pass complex data back and forth. Or maybe I am doing something wrong?
