How to index a string like "aaa.bbb.ddd-fff" in Lucene?

Hi, I have to index a lot documents that contain reference numbers like "aaa.bbb.ddd-fff". The structure can change but it's always some arbitrary numbers or characters combined with "/","-","_" or some other delimiter. The users want to be able to search for any of the substrings like "aaa" or "ddd" and also for combinations like "aaa.bbb" or "ddd-fff". The best I have been able to come up with is to create my own token filter modeled after the synonym filter in "Lucene in action" which spits out multiple terms for each input. In my case I return "aaa.bbb", "bbb.ddd","bbb.ddd-fff" and all other combinations of the substrings. This works pretty well but when I index large documents (100MB) that contain lots of such strings I tend to get out of memory exceptions because my filter returns multiple terms for each input string. Is there a better way to index these strings?

Hi, I am trying to do as my question states, sooo I have the following code which would find the match. String test = scan.next(); if (test.equals("$let")) return 1; However, I would prefer to use hasNext as to not consume a token; however, when i do the following it fails. if (scan.hasNext("$let")) return 1; I realize the when giving has next a variable it expects a pattern, but I thought if i don't have any regex symbols it should work. I also thought $ was possibly some regex symbol so I tried /$ however, that did not work! Thanks for the help!

Can I join two tables whereby the joined table is sorted by a certain column?

I'm not much of a database guru so I need some help on a query I'm working on. In my photo community project I want to richly visualize tags by not only showing the tag name and counter (# of images inside them), I also want to show a thumb of the most popular image inside the tag (most karma). The table setup is as follow: Image table holds basic image metadata, important is the karma field Imagefile table holds multiple entries per image, one for each format Tag table holds tag definitions Tag_map table maps tags to images In my usual trial and error query authoring I have come this far: SELECT * FROM (SELECT tag.name, tag.id, COUNT(tag_map.tag_id) as cnt FROM tag INNER JOIN tag_map ON (tag.id = tag_map.tag_id) INNER JOIN image ON tag_map.image_id = image.id INNER JOIN imagefile on image.id = imagefile.image_id WHERE imagefile.type = 'smallthumb' GROUP BY tag.name ORDER BY cnt DESC) as T1 WHERE cnt > 0 ORDER BY cnt DESC [column clause of inner query snipped for the sake of simplicity] This query gives me somewhat what I need. The outer query makes sure that only tags are returned for which there is at least 1 image. The inner query returns the tag details, such as its name, count (# of images) and the thumb. In addition, I can sort the inner query as I want (by most images, alphabetically, most recent, etc) So far so good. The problem however is that this query does not match the most popular image (most karma) of the tag, it seems to always take the most recent one in the tag. How can I make sure that the most popular image is matched with the tag?

Something confusing about FormsOf (Sql server Full-Text searching)

hi I'm using Sql Server 2008 1) A given <simple_term> within a <generation_term> will not match both nouns and verbs. If I understand the above text correctly, then query SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE CONTAINS ( *, ' FORMSOF ( INFLECTIONAL, park ) ' ) should search for either nouns or verbs derived from the root word “park”, but not for both? Thus out of the two rows, one containing noun parks and other verb parking, the above query should return just one of the two rows? But as it turns out, query returns both rows, so are perhaps my assumptions a bit off or is the above quote wrong?! 2) From Msdn: If freetext_string is enclosed in double quotation marks, a phrase match is instead performed; stemming and thesaurus are not performed. According to the above quote the following query shouldn’t return rows containing strings surfing ( due to query not performing stemming ), surf ( due to query performing phrase matching and not individual word matching ) and surfing with suzy’s sister ( due to query not performing stemming and due to query performing phrase matching and not word matching ), but it does. Thus, it appears that even when *freetext_string* is enclosed in double quotation marks, stemming is still preformed, while phrase matching is not: SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE FREETEXT( *, ' "surf sister" ' ) So is the above quote wrong or...? thanx

HttpWebResponse get mixed up when used inside multiple threads

In my Application I have a few threads who will get data from a web service. Basically I just open an URL and get an XML output. I have a few threads who do this continuously but with different URLs. Sometimes the results are mixed up. The XML output doesn't belong to the URL of a thread but to the URL of another thread. In each thread I create an instance of the class GetWebPage and call the method Get from this instance. The method is very simple and based mostly on code from the MSDN documentation. (See below. Like I said I have multiple instances of this class/method in a few threads (10 to 12) and sometimes buffer does not belong the the url of the same thread but another thread.

I tried the following code instead but I also get an Exception. My original question was asked on Aardvark and can be read bellow: var allStudents = from s in dc.students select s; List thestudents = new List(); foreach (student s in allStudents) { if (s.courses.Contains(theCourse)) { thestudents.Add(s); } } I did a right click, "run custom tool" on my dbml and checked my names of my tables and entities. The project compiles but I get an Exception at runtime on this line: "if (s.courses.Contains(theCourse))" Any ideas? Original question on Aardvark: How do I do a LinqToSQL query that gives me this: I want to select all students that attended a certain lesson. The lesson is from a certain course. So select the course the lesson is from. Now select all the students that are following that course. There is a many-to-many relationship between the students and the courses table in my DB. Completion on class members which are STL containers is failing. Completion on local objects which are STL containers works fine. When I type temp. in the cpp I get a list of string member functions as expected. But if I type str. omnicppcomplete spits out "Pattern Not Found". I've noticed that the temp. completion only works if I have the using std::string; declaration. How do I get completion to work on my class members which are STL containers?

In C#, is there any way to try multiple Regexes on string to see which one matches first?

Let's say I have an arbitrary list of regexes (IList<Regex> lst; for example). Is there any way to find out which one matches first? Of course there is the straightforward solution of trying each one on the string and seeing which match has the lowest index, but this could be inefficient on long strings. Of course I can go back and pull the strings back out of each regex (Regex.ToString()) and concatenate them all together ("(regex1)|(regex2)|(regex3)"), but I find this to be an ugly solution, especially since it does not even indicate which regex was matched.

How to query a CGI based webserver from an app written in MFC (MSVC 2008) and process the result?

Hi, I am exploring the option of querying a web-page, which has a CGI script running on its end, with a search string (say in the form of http://sw.mycompany.com/~tools/cgi-bin/script.cgi?param1=value1&param2=value2&param3=value3 ), and displaying the result on my app (after due processing of course). My app is written in MFC C++ , and I must confess that I have never attempted anything related to network programming before. Is what I'm trying to do very infeasible ? If not, could anyone point me at the resources I need to look at in order to go about this ? Thanks !

I have a common git "post-receive" script for several projects, and it needs to perform different actions if an /app/ or /public/ folder exists in the root. Using: FOLDERS=`git ls-tree -d --name-only -z master`; I can see the directory listing, and I would like to use the RegExp support in bash to run something like: if [[ "$FOLDERS" =~ app ]]; then ... fi But that won't work if there was something like an "app lication" folder... I specified the "-z" option in the git "ls-tree" command so I could use the \0 (null) character as a separator, but not sure how to test for that in the bash RegExp. Likewise I know there is support for specifying a particular path in the ls-tree command, and could then pipe that to "wc -l", but I'd have thought it was quicker to get a full directory listing of the root (not recursive) then test for the 2 (or more) folders with the returned output. Not able to get data from Json completely

i am getting JSON data from http://abinet.org/?json=1 and displaying the titles in a ListView. the code is working fine but the problem is, it is skipping few titles in my ListView and one title is being repeated. You can see the json data from url given above by copy paste it in JSON editor online http://www.jsoneditoronline.org/ i want titles in the "posts" array to be displayed in ListView, however it is being displayed like this: if you see the JSON data from the link above, its missing like 3 titles (they should come between the first and second title) and 5th title is being repeated. Dont know why this is happening. What minor adjustments i need to do? List/remove files, with filenames containing string that's "more than a month ago"?

I store some data in files which follow this naming convention: /interesting/data/filename-YYYY-MM-DD-HH-MM How do I look for the ones with date in file name < now - 1 month and delete them? Files may have changed since they were created, so searching according to last modification date is not good. Curl Wrapper Class does not return any data even though it worked previously?

We changed servers and installed all necessary software and just cannot seem to pin point what is going on. A simple CURL request does not return anything. Command Line CURL commands work just fine. We are using a wrapper for CURL utilizing streams. Do PHP streams require any out of the ordinary configuration? We are using the latest Lamp stack.
