  Completion on class members which are STL containers is failing. Completion on local objects which are STL containers works fine. For example, given the following files: // foo.h #include <string> class foo { public: void set_str(const std::string &); std::string get_str_reverse( void ); private: std::string str; }; // foo.cpp #include "foo.h" using std::string; string foo::get_str_reverse ( void ) { string temp; temp.assign(str); reverse(temp.begin(), temp.end()); return temp; } /* ----- end of method foo::get_str ----- */ void foo::set_str ( const string &s ) { str.assign(s); } /* ----- end of method foo::set_str ----- */ I've generated the tags for these two files using: ctags -R --c++-kinds=+pl --fields=+iaS --extra=+q . When I type temp. in the cpp I get a list of string member functions as expected. But if I type str. omnicppcomplete spits out "Pattern Not Found". I've noticed that the temp. completion only works if I have the using std::string; declaration. How do I get completion to work on my class members which are STL containers?

I tried the following code instead but I also get an Exception. My original question was asked on Aardvark and can be read bellow: var allStudents = from s in dc.students select s; List thestudents = new List(); foreach (student s in allStudents) { if (s.courses.Contains(theCourse)) { thestudents.Add(s); } } I did a right click, "run custom tool" on my dbml and checked my names of my tables and entities. The project compiles but I get an Exception at runtime on this line: "if (s.courses.Contains(theCourse))" Any ideas? Original question on Aardvark: How do I do a LinqToSQL query that gives me this: I want to select all students that attended a certain lesson. The lesson is from a certain course. So select the course the lesson is from. Now select all the students that are following that course. There is a many-to-many relationship between the students and the courses table in my DB. • Using Array Variables For FILE_GET_CONTENTS

  I have a script all done now and everything has been debugged and it works, except for the last hurdle. This script grabs pertinent information on bank web sites, takes that data and uses it to populate a template and then it's all posted to Wordpress - BUT I get an error because the file_get_contents function fails taking each url from the Array. • How to query a CGI based webserver from an app written in MFC (MSVC 2008) and process the result?

  Hi, I am exploring the option of querying a web-page, which has a CGI script running on its end, with a search string (say in the form of http://sw.mycompany.com/~tools/cgi-bin/script.cgi?param1=value1&param2=value2&param3=value3 ), and displaying the result on my app (after due processing of course). My app is written in MFC C++ , and I must confess that I have never attempted anything related to network programming before. Is what I'm trying to do very infeasible ? If not, could anyone point me at the resources I need to look at in order to go about this ? Thanks !

• Updating an application OTA

  I'm developing an application that will be available from a website (market probably as well). The problem I'm having at the moment is how to handle the updates to the app. I know how to check the version against the current one and I know if I need to update it. Question is...how? Is there a way I can download an APK from the website and start the install process? The user will have to confirm of course, but I just want to be able to start it for him. • Strategies for when to use properties and when to use internal variables on internal classes?

  In almost all of my classes, I have a mixture of properties and internal class variables. I have always chosen one or the other by the rule "property if you need it externally, class variable if not". But there are many other issues which make me rethink this often, e.g.: at some point I want to use an internal variable from outside the class, so I have to refactor it into a property which makes me wonder why I don't just make all my internal variables properties in case I have to access them externally anyway, since most classes are internal classes anyway it aren't exposed on an API so it doesn't really matter if the internal variables are accessible from outside the class or not but then since C# doesn't allow you to instantiate e.g. List<string> property in the definition, then these properties have to be initialized in every possible constructor, so these variables I would rather have internal variables just to keep things cleaner in that they are all initialized in one place C# code reads more cleanly if constructor/method parameters are camel case and you assign them to pascal case properties instead of the ambiguity of seeing "templateIdCode" and having to look around to see if it is a local variable, method parameter or internal class variable, e.g. it is easier when you see "TemplateIdCode = templateIdCode" that this is a parameter being assigned to a class property. This would be an argument for always using only properties on internal classes. e.g.: public class TextFile { private string templateIdCode; private string absoluteTemplatePathAndFileName; private string absoluteOutputDirectory; private List<string> listItems = new List<string>(); public string Content { get; set; } public List<string> ReportItems { get; set; } public TextFile(string templateIdCode) { this.templateIdCode = templateIdCode; ReportItems = new List<string>(); Initialize(); } ... Thanks for reading all of this. I've already implemented it and it works nicely, and I'm planning to extend it to validate the contents of IEnumerable fields and other fields that are Validatable. What I'm particularly concerned about is that if no ruleset is specified, the validator tries to use the name of the property as the ruleset name. (If you don't want that behavior, you can use [SuppressValidation].) This makes the code much less cluttered (no need to use [UseValidationRuleset("something")] on every single property) but it somehow doesn't feel right. I can't decide if it's awful or awesome. What do you think? Any suggestions on the other parts of this design are welcome too. I'm not very experienced and I'm grateful for any help. Also, is "Validatable" a good name? To me, it sounds pretty weird but I'm not a native English speaker.

• Curl Wrapper Class does not return any data even though it worked previously?

  We changed servers and installed all necessary software and just cannot seem to pin point what is going on. A simple CURL request does not return anything. Command Line CURL commands work just fine. We are using a wrapper for CURL utilizing streams. Do PHP streams require any out of the ordinary configuration? We are using the latest Lamp stack.   I'm using PHP Version 5.1.6 I have a string (session file) and need to extract a value from it, so i'm searching for a needle in the string but it returns false, I reduced the code to this: $string = ';SERVER_NAME|s:17:"stackoverflow.com";REMOTE_ADDR|s:13:"69.59.196.211";'; $start = strpos($string, ';SERVER_NAME|s:"'); echo $start; // prints nothing because $start = false $start = strpos($string, 'SERVER_NAME|s:'); echo $start; // prints 1; As you noticed if I have the character ';' or the character '"' in the needle, the search returns false, I tryed to use chr() for all characters in the needle but had the same result, If I remove the ';' and the '"' from the string if finds the needle in the string. How can I search special characters in a string using PHP ?

(no blank lines between each line, but the text is written on three separate lines) into a text box on a web page, and then presses a button which is then stored in a database via Django, and that string is read back and printed on a page, how can I get it to print on an HTML page with the newlines still in the text? So instead of it being printed back as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. It would print as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. I know that if I use: (textarea)soAndSo.body(/textarea), this preserves the newlines that were in the file when the user typed it up originally. How can I get this same effect, but without having to use textarea boxes?
