• Exception wrapping and HTML pages

  Hi, We have a sharepoint 2007 project at work. The exception handling policy is to log to the Sharepoint logs. In this case, would the best approach be to call that method and then rethrow the exception higher up? Except if I rethrow it to be caught higher up, there is no other exception handling code so what would happen in this case? Also, if you are going to display a more friendly error to the user (which uses information in the exception object), then this would be a good use of exception wrapping. Would it be a good idea to make a custom aspx page and add these to customerrors, so that on init (not sure of the exact event), I can display exception info in the passed parameter on the page. However, a static html page can't do this so I don't see the point in wrapping exceptions (unless there is a page or alert which uses the exception object). So if a project uses html pages for errors, is there a point in wrapping exceptions? Thanks

• Vim and clang_complete, how to explicitly compile my code

  I use Vim with clang_complete for omnicompletion. The plugin is automatically triggered when I need completion, e.g., after I type . or -> to access an object members or methods (see attached screenshot). The plugin works really nice, however I would need a way to trigger it manually (i.e. to compile my code for syntax checking). This is useful for two reasons: Static syntax checking Clear previous errors which have been fixed (which otherwise will remain in their buffer). • Is there a way to show a 3-D surface plot in the browser?

  I've got a bunch of data for 3-D surface plots. I want to build a quick web interface to let me browse through that data. Are there any (free) packages out there that can easily show surface plots? I found this question but the suggested libraries did not support surface plots. If it requires a plugin like flash / java that is fine. This is for prototyping so a quick 'n dirty solution is preferred. Right now, the only option I have come up with is to use gnuplot to serve up static images. It would be awesome if there was some way to provide an interactive 3-D surface plot in the browser.

• Allowing AsyncTask to Manipulate Values in Different Activity Classes

  Hi guys, This title may seem strange, so let me try to explain what I'm trying to do. I have several activity classes, each representing a different view in my application. My initial activity class gets loaded when the application launches. The user enters values and eventually a TCP socket is opened, and I then use AsyncTask to listen for and respond to messages from the server. I'd like for this AsyncTask class to essentially listen until the app is closed/error condition reached, and be able to update values in other activity classes after they are started. Does this make sense (it's been a long, frustrating night)? I know that static activity class references are bad practice, and touching the UI thread from other activities is bad as well, but I'm having trouble finding a clean solution to this problem. Maybe using AsyncTask is not the best approach here? Should I be using a service instead or something else entirely? Thanks in advance.

• Div behind another div problem.

  Here is a (big) example of the massive problem I am having, when this page is live at euroworker.no/order, it is dynamically generated, I have supplied a static version for people to mess with. All I need is where it says "Endre Valg" to push the div wrapper under it down.. Sounds easy huh? I have tried many many things, I hope that some discussion and even trial and error can help us here. • "input cannot be resolved" when added a try..catch

  I originally tried to get my throw statement to work without a try catch and the userInput = input.nextInt(); line worked fine. But when I tried adding the try..catch it didn't like my input saying it cannot be resolved. I don't think my try..catch is correct yet but I am planning on tackling that after I can get this input to be recognized but I would appreciate any feedback on things you see with that as well.   I asked this question a week ago, but did not do a good job of describing the problem. Here's a second attempt. I'd like to produce data-driven charts, graphs, and other data visualizations, starting with data in an xml database and ending up with the visualizations as SVG. Here's an example from the W3C. It uses Javascript to create a stacked bar chart as SVG from xml. I'd like to do something similar but use a graphics library (or ???) instead of js to handle the construction of axes, labels, titles, data points, etc. My question, then: what are the options that I should consider ... things like Raphael I suppose, but initially I'd like to cast a wide net and look at many different options. My experience is all with static data visualizations using statistics packages like R, but eventually I'd like to create interactive data visualizations with html5/css3/svg. • Would you store binary data in database or in file system?

  This is a question which has been asked before (large-text-and-images-in-sql) but mainly for data which will be changed. In my case the data will be stored and never changed. Just seems sensible to keep everything together. Are there any reasons why I should not store static binary data in a database? Assuming it is a sensible thing to do, are there any advantages to storing such data in separate tables? (You might begin to realise now that I'm not a DB expert...) Clarify: There will probably be no more than 10-20 users but these will be in the US and in the UK. The binary data will have to be transfered in any case.

  I have a table that stores a bunch of diagnosis for a single plan. When the users create a new plan I need to copy over all existing diagnosis's as well. • how do you find the exact variable of a null pointer exception

  Hi All Using CGPDFDocument class we can read pdf document, get number of pages, get a page by number. Is there any other library that helps us reading word documents like microsoft word doc where we can get number of pages and get a page by its number etc? Do not want to use safari to view the document.
