  • C# Linq Entity Conversion Error on Nonexistent Value?

    - by Ryan
While trying to query some data using the Linq Entity Framework I'm receiving the following exception: {"Conversion failed when converting the varchar value '3208,7' to data type int."} The thing that is confusing is that this value does not even exist in the view I am querying from. It does exist in the table the view is based on, however. The query I'm running is the following: return context.vb_audit_department .Where(x => x.department_id == department_id && x.version_id == version_id) .GroupBy(x => new { x.action_date, x.change_type, x.user_ntid, x.label }) .Select(x => new { action_date = x.Key.action_date, change_type = x.Key.change_type, user_ntid = x.Key.user_ntid, label = x.Key.label, count = x.Count(), items = x }) .OrderByDescending(x => x.action_date) .Skip(startRowIndex) .Take(maximumRows) .ToList(); Can somebody explain why LINQ queries the underlying table instead of the actual view, and if there is any way around this behavior?

  • How to convert String to Java.sql.date and Java.sql.time

    - by Mr Morgan
Hello If I have a method like this: public static String convertDateTimeToString(DateTime dt) { return dt.getDate() + " " + dt.getTime(); } Which takes a Datetime object of my own which contains a Java.sql.date and a Java.sql.time, what is the best way of reversing the process so that I can substring a Java.sql.date and a Java.sql.time from a string? Or if DateTime dt is a JodaTime DateTime object? If this can be done without reference to Java.util.date. Thanks Mr Morgan.

  • Entity framework error: The conversion of a datetime2 data type to a datetime data

    - by EdenMachine
I know there are a ton of posts about this issue but none of them seem to solve my problem. Here's the scenario: I have a CreateDate DateTime column in my MS SQL Server database User table that is non-nullable and is automatically set using GetDate() method in "Default Value or Binding" setting. I am able to create a User just fine with the standard EF Insert but when I try to update the user, I get this error: The conversion of a datetime2 data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value. What is the trick to not having the EF worry about the CreateDate column for updates? I have the StoreGenerationPattern = Identity but that isn't helping. Here are the EF properties for my Entity Property: http://screencast.com/t/8ndQRn9N And here is my Update method: http://screencast.com/t/UXIzhkhR

  • conversion of a varchar to a smalldatetime results in an out-of-range value

    - by michael
The code: strSql = "insert into table2 (transactiondate) values ('" & transactiondate & "')" seems to be giving me the runtime error: The conversion of a varchar data type to a smalldatetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value In the code, strSql is a String object and transactiondate is a Date object. In the SQL database however, transactiondate is a smalldatetime object. I've tried changing the smalldatetime to a datetime (in the database) and I've tried transactiondate.toString() but with no success. How can this be fixed? Note: I know about the dangers of inline SQL. I am looking for a quick fix solution here and not a discussion about SQL injection.

  • Hex to Decimal conversion in C

    - by darkie15
Hi All, Here is my code which is doing the conversion from hex to decimal. The hex values are stored in a unsigned char array: int liIndex ; long hexToDec ; unsigned char length[4]; for (liIndex = 0; liIndex < 4 ; liIndex++) { length[liIndex]= (unsigned char) *content; printf("\n Hex value is %.2x", length[liIndex]); content++; } hexToDec = strtol(length, NULL, 16); Each array element contains 1 byte of information and I have read 4 bytes. When I execute it, here is the output that I get : Hex value is 00 Hex value is 00 Hex value is 00 Hex value is 01 Chunk length is 0 Can any one please help me understand the error here. Th decimal value should have come out as 1 instead of 0. Regards, darkie

  • What is the best way to format a date in JSON for Mongo DB storage

    - by Poul
I have a date with a time. I'm using ruby, but the language shouldn't matter. d = "2010-04-01 13:00:00" What is the best way to format this date for Mongo DB? By 'best' I mean, is there a certain format I could use where Mongo would recognize it as a date and might give me more-advanced filtering optons? ie: If formatted correctly, could I ask Mongo to return all records whose month is '04'? Thanks!

  • Php date() giving the wrong time after parsing

    - by Kirill
This is confusing as hell, here's the php I'm using: <?php echo date('H:i D j, F',$j->date); ?> This is what it gives me: 01:33 Thu 1, January Which seems fine, until you look at the actual time that is being given ($j-date provides): 2010-06-12 21:12:23 Why is it giving me a January and what am I doing wrong?

  • Rails 3.1 text_field form helper and jQuery datepicker date format

    - by DanyW
I have a form field in my Rails view like this: <%= f.text_field :date, :class => "datepicker" %> A javascript function converts all input fields of that class to a jQueryUI datepicker. $(".datepicker").datepicker({ dateFormat : "dd MM yy", buttonImageOnly : true, buttonImage : "<%= asset_path('iconDatePicker.gif') %>", showOn : "both", changeMonth : true, changeYear : true, yearRange : "c-20:c+5" }) So far so good. I can edit the record and it persists the date correctly all the way to the DB. My problem is when I want to edit the record again. When the form is pre-populated from the record it displays in 'yyyy-mm-dd' format. The javascript only formats dates which are selected in the datepicker control. Is there any way I can format the date retrieved from the database? At which stage can I do this? Thanks, Dany. Some more details following the discussion below, my form is spread across two files, a view and a partial. Here's the view: <%= form_tag("/shows/update_individual", :method => "put") do %> <% for show in @shows %> <%= fields_for "shows[]", show do |f| %> <%= render "fields", :f => f %> <% end %> <% end %> <%= submit_tag "Submit"%> <% end %> And here's the _fields partial view: <p> <%= f.label :name %> <%= f.text_field :name %> </p> <p> <%= f.date %> <%= f.label :date %> <%= f.text_field :date, :class => "datepicker" %> </p> Controller code: def edit_individual @shows = Show.find(params[:show_ids]) end

  • JSTL - Format date

    - by John Manak
Hi! I have a loop that goes through all the news items we have on our site. One of the fields is date ${newsitem.value['Date']}, given in millliseconds. I'd like to display this date in month/day/year format on the webpage. I thought JSTL format tag, <fmt:formatDate>, would help, but I haven't succeeded. Do you know how to do it? <cms:contentaccess var="newsitem" /> <h2><c:out value="${newsitem.value['Title']}" /></h2> // display date here <c:out value="${newsitem.value['Text']}" escapeXml="false" />

  • Row Source - combo box, filtering what pops up in a combo box by date

    - by primus285
so I have a combo box that I want to pop up when somebody wants to search by year. It will allow them to see in that combo box only results that happened in a certain year. so far I have something like SELECT DISTINCT Database_New.ASEC FROM Database_New WHERE (((Database_New.Date) >= DateValue('01/01/2001') AND (((Database_New.Date) <= DateValue('12/031/2001'))); or SELECT DISTINCT Database_New.ASEC FROM Database_New WHERE (((Database_New.Date) >= BETWEEN DateValue('01/01/2001') AND DateValue('12/31/2001’))); as you can see, the kicker is that I am already sorting the thing with SELECT DISTINCT under the ASEC field. But I want to filter it one more by year so a whole bunch of ASEC values that didnt happen in that year (and there are quite a few that happen rarely, or would onyl be associeted with one year) do not pop up as avalible. so far I get an error like "Syntax error in query expression '(((Database_New.Date) = DateValue('01/01/2001') AND (((Database_New.Date) <= DateValue('12/031/2001')))' and I am a VBA person, not quite as good at debuggin SQL. Is it something easy? or will it simply not work the way I have it set up.

  • Proper way to format date from database using javascript/jquery

    - by Darcy
Hi all, I am calling my database which contains a datetime datatype. The date looks like this: 2005-05-23 16:06:00.000 I would like to display this in a table when a user selects a certain item from a list. I call my controller action and return Json of all the times and put them in a table. The problem is the date is completely wrong. What is displayed is this: /Date(1255470180000)/ The date that is returned isn't even parsable (which I don't want to do anyway) so I can't even get the data if I wanted to. Any ideas?

  • Convert date time value to expected with SimpleDateFormat

    - by Khoi Nguyen
I have an issue with converting a date time value to expected one with SimpleDateFormat (java), my expected format is MM/yyyy, and I want to convert 2 values to only 1 format MM-yyyy for example 05-2012 yyyy-MM for example 2012-05 ouput is 05/2012. I implemented something look like following String expiry = "2012-01"; try { result = convertDateFormat(expiry, "MM-yyyy", expectedFormat); } catch (ParseException e) { try { result = convertDateFormat(expiry, "yyyy-MM", expectedFormat); } catch (ParseException e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } e.printStackTrace(); } private String convertDateFormat(String date, String oPattern, String ePattern) throws ParseException { SimpleDateFormat normalFormat = new SimpleDateFormat(oPattern); Date d = normalFormat.parse(date); SimpleDateFormat cardFormat = new SimpleDateFormat(ePattern); return cardFormat.format(d); } Now, the return value is 6808, I don't know why. Kindly anyone help me on this case.
