• Iframe in Tab Madness!

  I've searched all over and have found possible solutions but they don't quite work how i need them to. I am really new to jQuery but I'm trying :-) I have an iframe that sits in a Tab ( Tabs powered by jQuery) In the third tab sits an iframe that holds a slideshow My problem: When I click on the third tab which houses the iframe all the controls appear, the carousel seems to be working, but ...no pictures!!! Firefox helped me find what fixes the problem, now i just need to find a way to do fix it. In Firefox when i right click on the iframe and go to This frame - Reload Frame VOILA! Pictures are back! Question: Is it possible with jQuery to tell when the third tab is selected and to refresh a div which contains the iframe when that third tab is selected? • jQuery: preventDefault() not working on input/click events?

  I want to disable the default contextMenu when a user right-clicks on an input field so that I can show a custom contextMenu. Generally speaking, its pretty easy to disable the right-click menu by doing something like: $([whatever]).bind("click", function(e) { e.preventDefault(); }); And in fact, I can do this on just about every element EXCEPT for input fields in FF - anyone know why or could point me towards some documentation? • Flash External Interface issue with Firefox

  I am having a hard time getting ExternalInterface to work on Firefox. I am trying to call a AS3 function from javascript. The SWF is setup with the right callbacks and it is working in IE. I am using AC_RunActiveContent.js to embed the swf into my page. However, I have modified it to add an ID to the Object / Embed Tags.   I am currently reading this documentation here where I want to use CRON. Now it says in the first section that I need to enter in a command: crontab -e. Do I only need to enter this in a simple text editor file and just upload the file into the server? • Possible defect with jQuery ':checked' selector (finding checked checkbox when there are none)

  Found a strange thing. The following code is supposed to set a default value for a UI element based on whether one of a group of checkboxes (all having attribute name="privacy") is checked (in say, a form postback). If there is no value in the HTML sent by the server (the form is not a postback), the default value should be firstMenuItemKey. Otherwise, it should be the one checked in the underlying HTML. However, while this works on the first call to the URL that includes the form, a refresh of the page will set the value of defaultPrivacyValue to one of the privacy checkboxes'. I've checked that the server isn't checking the checkbox before the script runs (it's not). I've also checked whether somewhere else in the script is checking the checkbox (it's not). var defaultPrivacyValue = firstMenuItemKey; $('input[name=privacy]:checked').each(function() { defaultPrivacyValue = $(this).next().find('.name').text(); }); selectMenuItem(defaultPrivacyValue); When I chaged the selector to 'input[name=privacy][checked=checked]' it worked as expected. Is this a defect in the jQuery implementation of DOM retrieval based on the ':checked' selector???? I'm using jQuery 1.4.2. Thanks for any help you can give.

• Why isn't this simple PHP/MySQL code working?

  I am very new to php/mysql and this is causing me to loose hairs, I am trying to build a multi level site navigation. In this part of my script I am readying the sub and parent categories coming from a form for insertion into the database: // get child categories $catFields = $_POST['categories']; if (is_array($catFields)) { $categories = $categories; for ($i=0; $i<count($catFields); $i++) { $categories = $categories . $catFields[$i]"; } } // get parent category $select = mysql_query ("SELECT parent FROM categories WHERE id = $categories"); while ($return = mysql_fetch_assoc($select)) { $parentId = $return['parent']; } The first part of my script works fine, it grabs all the categories that the user has chosen to assign a post by checking the checkboxes in a form and readies it for insertion into the database. But the second part does not work and I can't understand why. I am trying to match a category with a parent that is stored in it's own table, but it returns nothing even though the categories all have parents. Can anyone tell me why this is? p.s. The $categories variable contains the sub category id.

• Javascript API not working for Chrome or Safari on JW Player 5.9

It works for IE8/9 and FF but fails for Chrome and Safari. • How to parse rss from a php page, using jQuery/jFeed?

  I'm trying to fumble my way through parsing rss sensibly, using jQuery and jFeed. Because of the same origin policy I'm pulling the BBC's health news feed into a local page (http://www.davidrhysthomas.co.uk/play/proxy.php). Originally this was just the same proxy.php script as available in the jFeed download package, but due to my host's disabling allow_url_fopen() I've amended the php to the following: $url = "http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/health/rss.xml"; $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); $data = curl_exec($ch); echo "$data"; curl_close($ch); Which seems to generate the same/comparable contents as the original fopen on my local machine. Now that seems to be working, I'm looking at setting the jFeed script up to work with the page and, to my embarrassment, don't see how. I understand that, at the least, this should work: jQuery.getFeed({ url: 'http://www.davidrhysthomas.co.uk/play/proxy.php', success: function(feed) { alert(feed.title); } }); ...but, as I'm sure you anticipate, it doesn't. My doctype is triggering standards mode on IE7.

• Qt - QWebView Problem

  Hi, I have a PyQt gui script which consists of a QWebView widget. I'm trying to send a GET request, i.e go to a page, fill a form and hit click using the code at the bottom of this question. Since i'm dealing with the documentElement(a QWebElement) of the webview, I need to place all DOM actions in a separate function(which I have named fillForm) and connect the loadFinished() signal into the function. Without connecting the signal, the document will not have loaded and I won't be able to get the elements I want. I'm able to submit the form correctly and get the proper response from the webpage. The problem i'm having is that, the above leads to a sort of infinite loop. This is because the webpage gets reloaded each time a new page is loaded, so the form gets filled each and every single time without stopping. I'd like to know if there's some way of finding out whether the WebView's page has loaded fully, non-asynchronously or maybe pause execution of the script(without freezing the gui) until the whole document has loaded. I'm unable to come up with a satisfactory solution(my idea consisted of keeping a global variable to track clicks) to this problem. I would appreciate it if someone could help me out with a better way to tackle this. Thanks! • Need help writing jQuery to loop through table and inject markers into google map?

  I am new to jQuery. I've done some simple things with it but what I am attempting now is a over my head and I need some help. I am building a locator for all the firearms dealers in the US for a client. I am working within Drupal. I have a proximity search by zip code that works great. If you search by zip a list of paginated results shows up in an html table that can by paged through via ajax. I would like a map to be above this list with markers corresponding to the names and addresses being listed. I already have all the lat and long values in the table results. I want the script to update the markers and automatically zoom to fit the markers in the view when a user changes the sort order of the table or pages through the results. Also, I'd like to have a hover highlight effect over the rows of the table that simultaneously highlight the corresponding marker, and have a click on the table row equal a click on a marker that pops up a marker info window to be populated using jQuery to read the name and address fields of the table. Hope this all makes sense. I know I'm putting a lot out there, I'm not asking for someone to write the whole script, just wanted to give as many details as possible. Thanks for any help. The problem: each time the button is pressed, the all objects of the array get overridden with the currently selected text.   I am trying to determine if a user is a facebook fan. The business logic is pretty simple - If they become a fan, track it in my database. Then if they try to become a fan again, check with the library if they are a fan and say "You are already a fan" if they are a fan, show the widget if not.

• What's the scope of a Javascript variable declared in a for() loop?

  Check out the following snippet of HTML/Javascript code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var alerts = []; for(var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { alerts.push(function() { document.write(i + ', '); }); } for (var j = 0; j < 3; j++) { (alerts[j])(); } for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { (alerts[i])(); } </script> </head><body></body></html> This outputs: 3, 3, 3, 0, 1, 2 which isn't what I was expecting - I was expecting the output 0, 1, 2, 0, 1, 2, I (incorrectly) assumed that the anonymous function being pushed into the array would behave as a closure, capturing the value of i that's assigned when the function is created - but it actually appears that i is behaving as a global variable. Can anyone explain what's happening to the scope of i in this code example, and why the anonymous function isn't capturing its value?

  I want to apply a CSS class to every textbox in my site: <div class="editor-label"> <label for="FoodType">FoodType</label> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <input id="HelpText" name="FoodType" type="text" value="" /> </div> <p> <input type="submit" value="Create" /> </p> And I thought, Hey! Easy. I'll add a jquery function to find them all in the masterpage. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('input').addClass('textbox'); } </script> Unfortunately this will also select the submit button. How can i only select input elements that have a text type attribute? Alternativly is this possible using entirely CSS? If both these methods are not possible, i guess i will just have to manually add the class to every textbox i make? Cheers, Kohan.

• Remove "Flash" between pages while using Internet Explorer modal boxes

  I have an internal web application, that is IE specific, and uses a lot of IE specific modal boxes: (window.showModalDialog). I recently received a request to remove the "flash" when navigating between pages of the site. To accomplish this, I just added a meta transition tag to my master page: <meta http-equiv="Page-Enter" content="blendTrans(duration=0.0)" /> This works perfectly except for the modal boxes. When you launch a modal box, and then move it around, the web page behind it keeps a trail of the modal box instead of re-drawing the web page content. This prevents the user from moving the modal box to read anything that was behind it. Is there a way to prevent the "flash" between pages in an IE specific site and have the site still work with modal boxes? Please note, this is a large and complex site, so re-architecting it to not use modal boxes isn't an option. • Primefaces push encoding

  I use primefaces push to write a message in a p:notificationBar. if i push a message with specials characters (like russians char), I've got '?' in my message. How can I fix this problem ? • Focus behavior in Applet-Javascript interaction

  I have a web page with an applet that opens a popup window and also makes Javascript calls. When that Javascript call results in a focus() call on an HTML input, that causes the browser window to push itself in front of the applet window. But only on certain browsers, namely MSIE. On Firefox the applet window remains on top. How can I keep that behavior consistent in MSIE? Note that using the old Microsoft VM for Java also achieves the desired (applet window in front) result.
