  • Why do SQL connection leave parameters in?

    While coding with sqlite everytime i always had the exact number of parameters and when i executed the query i always had 0 parameters after it. I kept using the cmd object and it worked fine. Now while porting to use sql server (2008) my SqlConnection has parameters left over from a successful command. Why? I seem to be able to create tables without the problem (then again i may have use a clone of an empty cmd since i use recursion). Does SqlCommand always leave the parameters in after a query? This always breaks the following query unless i do parameter.clear(). Should i create a new SqlCommand object? or use parameter.clear() each time? I'm somewhat confused.

  • Setup and Deployment does not work

    Hi, I am working on VS 2008 and 3.5 framework. I had three windows services. I placed all three in a single solution, created installer individually for each of them. Then created a setup project. When I build it says build failed . But I checked on the errorlist, (i enabled the diagnostics in options menu), but there was no error at all. I went ahead and installed. There were no issues, But there was no service showed up in the services.msc. I installed each service individually , using installutil command, it showed up. But my requirement is to bundle these services and deploy to the client. The client should install it. Where am I going wrong. Any inputs will be highly appreciated. Regards cmrhema

  • Is there unreachable code in this snippet? I don't think so, but Resharper is telling me otherwise.

    I have the following method I came across in a code review. Inside the loop Resharper is telling me that if (narrativefound == false) is incorrect becuase narrativeFound is always true. I don't think this is the case, because in order to set narrativeFound to true it has to pass the conditional string compare first, so how can it always be true? Am I missing something?   • Gridview rowcommand after refreshing

    I have a gridview inside an updatepanel. After updating the gridview, accessing the individual rows does not seem to give the right row.     Hello! I have a WinForms application (OwnerForm) with some UserControl. When textbox of UserControl is changed, I want to filter content of a OwnerForm. But how can I make it? I don't want to specify OwnerForm inside the user control. I know a solution to add manually handlers for MyUserControl.tb.TextChanged to some functions on a owner form, but I think it's bad way. I'll prefer to have overridable functions, but I can't imagine how to do it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance,

    I am trying to run this code: ItemTaxonomy iTaxonomy = from itemTaxonomy in connection.ItemTaxonomy where itemTaxonomy.Item.ID == itemView.ID orderby itemTaxonomy.Taxonomy.Name select itemTaxonomy; When I compiled it I get the error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Linq.IOrderedQueryable<Website.Models.ItemTaxonomy>' to 'Website.Models.ItemTaxonomy'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) I believe the issue is with orderby itemTaxonomy.Taxonomy.Name but I am just trying to order by the name of Taxonomy items instead of their IDs. Is there a way to do that?

    How does one stream files, html or custom AJAX responses from web parts? Our current quick-and-very-dirty solution is to make the web part call the current page with certain query parameters, which the web part checks and instead of performing normal load it writes the required things to output and calls response end. This sounds bad since SharePoint might load other web parts and execute their code before reaching our web part. The web part is configured with data source settings which means the streaming context must be specific to the web part so it can acquire the correct data source settings.

The problem is that the object is pretty beefy and it takes 5.4 seconds (according ANTS Profiler - I am sure there is the profiler overhead, but still). Is there a better and faster way to clone?

  • How can I get an IObservable<T> in Rx from a "non-standard" event?

    Here's what I mean. Suppose I'm working with an API that exposes events, but these events do not follow the standard EventHandler or EventHandler<TEventArgs> signature. One event might look like this, for instance: Public Event Update(ByVal sender As BaseSubscription, ByVal e As BaseEvent) Now, typically, if I want to get an IObservable<TEventArgs> from an event, I can just do this: Dim updates = Observable.FromEvent(Of UpdateEventArgs)( _ target:=updateSource, _ eventName:="Update" _ ) But this doesn't work, because the Update event is not an EventHandler<UpdateEventArgs> -- in fact, there is no UpdateEventArgs -- it's basically just its own thing. Obviously, I could define my own class deriving from EventArgs (i.e., UpdateEventArgs), write another class to wrap the object providing the Update event, give the wrapper class its own Update event that is an EventHandler<UpdateEventArgs>, and get an IObservable<UpdateEventArgs> from that. But that's an annoying amount of work. Is there some way to create an IObservable<[something]> from a "non-standard" event like this, or am I out of luck?

I have read the documentation on how to use it, and everything is fine and understood. However, I can't instantiate my class Groupe from my Testing project. I want to be able to instantiate my internal class in my wrapper assembly, from my testing assembly. Any help is appreciated! If yes, then isn't it a bad idea using linq to sql instead of normal SqlCommand ? Or is there any other way of doing it in linq to sql ? When I attach Console.Out, I see nothing(command prompt does not even open). But when I include following:- context.Log = new System.IO.StreamWriter("d:\\abcd.txt"); I get an error, that "The process can not access the file because it is being used by another process" and that process is "w3wp.exe". How can I see the sql commands being executed by DataContext then ?

  • onCommand on button not firing inside gridView??

I've got the list being saved to session anytime a change is being made to it, and on page_load check if that session variable is empty, if not, then set that list to bind to the gridview. If I keep it commented out...it fires no problem, but then of course my list can never have more than one item since I am not loading the saved list from session into the gridview but just a fresh one. But the button click is being registered, because page_load is being stepped through again when I am viewing in debug mode, just deleteUser never fires. Why is this happening?? And how can I fix it??
