  • Index out of bounds exception in c#

    - by Naga
    I have the following code in my program which is throwing index out of bound exception at line yearList.SetValue(years[count], count); protected void invoiceYear_DataBound(object sender, EventArgs e) { //invoiceYear.SelectedItem.Value= GetYearRange(); String[] years = GetYearRange().Split(new char[] { '[', ',', ']',' ' }); ListItem [] yearList = new ListItem[]{}; System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("years-->" + years.Length); for (int i = 0; i < years.Length; i++) { System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("years-->" + years.GetValue(i)); } int count = 0; foreach (String str in years) { if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(str)) System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("empty"); else { yearList.SetValue(years[count], count); count++; } } //System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("yearList-->" + yearList.GetValue(0)); //invoiceYear.Items.AddRange(yearList); }

  • why create CLSID_CaptureGraphBuilder2 instance always failed in a machine

    - by Yigang Wu
    It's a real strange issue, the machine information below is from DXDiag. There is no error reported, but create CLSID_CaptureGraphBuilder2 instance always failed in the machine. It's okay to create CLSID_FilterGraph. Before create CLSID_CaptureGraphBuilder2, I have called CoInitialize and created CLSID_FilterGraph. Only this machine has the error, what dll related with this interface or any function needed to call before to make it work? Thanks in advance. • nUnit Assert.That(method,Throws.Exception) not catching exceptions

    - by JasonM
    Hi Everyone, Can someone tell me why this unit test that checks for exceptions fails? Obviously my real test is checking other code but I'm using Int32.Parse to show the issue. [Test] public void MyTest() { Assert.That(Int32.Parse("abc"), Throws.Exception.TypeOf<FormatException>()); } The test fails, giving this error. Obviously I'm trying to test for this exception and I think I'm missing something in my syntax. Error 1 TestCase '.MyTest' failed: System.FormatException : Input string was not in a correct format. at System.Number.StringToNumber(String str, NumberStyles options, NumberBuffer& number, NumberFormatInfo info, Boolean parseDecimal) at System.Number.ParseInt32(String s, NumberStyles style, NumberFormatInfo info) at System.Int32.Parse(String s) based on the documentation at Throws Constraint (NUnit 2.5)

  • Processes Allocation in .Net

    - by mayap
    I'm writing some program which should perform calculations concurrently according to inputs which reach the system all the time. I'm considering 2 approaches to allocate "calculation" processes: Allocating processes in the system initialization, insert the ids to Processes table, and each time I want to perform calculation, I will check in the table which process is free. The questions: can I be sure that those processes are only for my use and that the operating system doesn't use them? Not allocating processes in advance. Each time when calculation should be done ask the operating system for free process. I need to know the following inputs from a "calculation" process: When calculation is finished and also if it succeeded or failed If a processes has failed I need to assign the calculation to another process Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Inconsistent Behavior From Declared DLL Function

    - by Steven
    Why might my GetRawData declared function return a correct value when called from my VB.NET application, but return zero when called from my ASP.NET page? The code is exactly the same except for class type difference (Form / Page) and calling event handler (Form1_Load, Page_Load). Note: In the actual code, #DLL# and #RAWDATAFILE# are both absolute filenames to my DLL and raw data file respectively. Note: The DLL file was not created by Visual Studio. • prefix and postfix increments while comparing variables

    - by miatech
    could someone explain why this code output is not equals not equals 2 in the first if statement it seems that a = 0 b/c is a postfix increment; therefore a will not increase untile next line; however, the two a's are not equal why? and in the second if when I run the debugger the value of a is 2, but the test is false, why? public static void main (String[] args) { int a = 0; if (a++ == a++) { System.out.println("equals"); } else { System.out.println("not equals"); } if (++a == 2) { System.out.println("equals 2"); } else { System.out.println("not equals 2"); } }

  • Passing variables from Model to Model in codeigniter

    - by Craig Ward
    Hi, I need to pass a variable to model, that model needs to send another back and use that variable to query a different model. EG: I have a product_ID which I send to the product model, From that I find out the supplier_ID. I want to grab that supplier_ID to the supplier model to get the supplier name. How do you implement this in codeigniter?

  • ComboBox values disappears after selected when objects used for display

    - by Gakk
    I have a combobox where I want to display objects and have enum values returned. When first opened the combobox displays the items as supposed, but after a value is chosen it seems to disappear from the list. But if the combobox is active I can use the keyboard to navigate up and down between the other values, so they are in the list but only invisible. I have created a little test application to show my problem. When started the application shows the combobox with all the choices (the two first are type of Object, the third is a String): After the blue line is selected and when the combobox is opened again this line is missing: When the line with the text "Green" is selected that line is still showing: If I had chosen the red line the only thing that would still be in the list is the test "Green". I am using .NET Framework 3.5. Any hints or tips to why the elements disappears? Here are all the code needed after starting a blank project in Visual Studio. MainWindow.xaml.cs: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Diagnostics; namespace Test { public partial class MainWindow { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } private ColorComboBoxValue _activeColor; public ColorComboBoxValue ActiveColor { get { return _activeColor; } set { _activeColor = value; Debug.WriteLine("ActiveColor: " + _activeColor.Color); } } } public class ColorList : List<ColorComboBoxValue> { } public class ColorComboBoxValue { public Color Color { get; set; } public Object Object { get; set; } } public enum Color { Red, Blue, Green } } MainWindow.xaml: <Window x:Class="Test.MainWindow" x:Name="window" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:System="clr-namespace:System;assembly=mscorlib" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:Test" Title="ComboBoxTest" Height="100" Width="200"> <Window.Resources> <local:ColorList x:Key="ColorList"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue Color="Red"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> <Path Data="M0,0 L0,30 60,30 60,0 Z" Fill="Red"/> </local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> </local:ColorComboBoxValue> <local:ColorComboBoxValue Color="Blue"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> <Path Data="M0,0 L0,30 60,30 60,0 Z" Fill="Blue"/> </local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> </local:ColorComboBoxValue> <local:ColorComboBoxValue Color="Green"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> <System:String>Green</System:String> </local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> </local:ColorComboBoxValue> </local:ColorList> </Window.Resources> <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource ColorList}}" SelectedItem="{Binding ActiveColor, ElementName=window}"> <ComboBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding Path=Object}"/> </DataTemplate> </ComboBox.ItemTemplate> </ComboBox> </Window>

  • Python - output from functions?

    - by Seafoid
    Hi I have a very rudimentary question. Assume I call a function, e.g., def foo(): x = 'hello world' How do I get the function to return x in such a way that I can use it as the input for another function or use the variable within the body of a program? When I use return and call the variable within another functions I get a NameError. Thanks, S :-)

  • Need help in Hashtable implementation

    - by rafael
    Hi all, i'm quite a beginner in C# , i tried to write a program that extract words from an entered string, the user has to enter a minimum length for the word to filter the words output ... my code doesn't look good or intuitive, i used two arrays countStr to store words , countArr to store word length corresponding to each word .. but the problem is i need to use hashtables instead of those two arrays , because both of their sizes are depending on the string length that the user enter , i think that's not too safe for the memory or something ? here's my humble code , again i'm trying to replace those two arrays with one hashtable , how can this be done ? using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Collections; namespace ConsoleApplication2 { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { int i = 0 ; int j = 0; string myString = ""; int counter = 0; int detCounter = 0; myString = Console.ReadLine(); string[] countStr = new string[myString.Length]; int[] countArr = new int[myString.Length]; Console.Write("Enter minimum word length:"); detCounter = int.Parse(Console.ReadLine()); for (i = 0; i < myString.Length; i++) { if (myString[i] != ' ') { counter++; countStr[j] += myString[i]; } else { countArr[j] = counter; counter = 0; j++; } } if (i == myString.Length) { countArr[j] = counter; } for (i = 0; i < myString.Length ; i++) { if (detCounter <= countArr[i]) { Console.WriteLine(countStr[i]); } } Console.ReadLine(); } } }

  • lapply slower than for-loop when used for a BiomaRt query. Is that expected?

    - by ptocquin
    I would like to query a database using BiomaRt package. I have loci and want to retrieve some related information, let say description. I first try to use lapply but was surprise by the time needed for the task to be performed. I thus tried a more basic for-loop and get a faster result. Is that expected or is something wrong with my code or with my understanding of apply ? I read other posts dealing with *apply vs for-loop performance (Here, for example) and I was aware that improved performance should not be expected but I don't understand why performance here is actually lower. Here is a reproducible example. 1) Loading the library and selecting the database : library("biomaRt") athaliana <- useMart("plants_mart_14") athaliana <- useDataset("athaliana_eg_gene",mart=athaliana) 2) Querying the database : loci <- c("at1g01300", "at1g01800", "at1g01900", "at1g02335", "at1g02790", "at1g03220", "at1g03230", "at1g04040", "at1g04110", "at1g05240" ) I create a function for the use in lapply : foo <- function(loci) { getBM("description","tair_locus",loci,athaliana) } When I use this function on the first element : > system.time(foo(cwp_loci[1])) utilisateur système écoulé 0.020 0.004 1.599 When I use lapply to retrieve the data for all values : > system.time(lapply(loci, foo)) utilisateur système écoulé 0.220 0.000 16.376 I then created a new function, adding a for-loop : foo2 <- function(loci) { for (i in loci) { getBM("description","tair_locus",loci[i],athaliana) } } Here is the result : > system.time(foo2(loci)) utilisateur système écoulé 0.204 0.004 10.919 Of course, this will be applied to a big list of loci, so the best performing option is needed. I thank you for assistance. EDIT Following recommendation of @MartinMorgan Simply passing the vector loci to getBM greatly improves the query efficiency. Simpler is better. > system.time(lapply(loci, foo)) utilisateur système écoulé 0.236 0.024 110.512 > system.time(foo2(loci)) utilisateur système écoulé 0.208 0.040 116.099 > system.time(foo(loci)) utilisateur système écoulé 0.028 0.000 6.193

  • Is it guaranteed that new Integer(i) == i in Java?

    - by polygenelubricants
    Consider the following snippet: int i = 99999999; byte b = 99; short s = 9999; Integer ii = Integer.valueOf(9); // should be within cache System.out.println(new Integer(i) == i); // "true" System.out.println(new Integer(b) == b); // "true" System.out.println(new Integer(s) == s); // "true" System.out.println(new Integer(ii) == ii); // "false" It's obvious why the last line will ALWAYS prints "false": we're using == reference identity comparison, and a new object will NEVER be == to an already existing object. The question is about the first 3 lines: are those comparisons guaranteed to be on the primitive int, with the Integer auto-unboxed? Are there cases where the primitive would be auto-boxed instead, and reference identity comparisons are performed? (which would all then be false!)

  • If statement String trouble

    - by Jeremy Stone
    I'm trying to create a program which takes user input of two words and determines whether or not these words are the same. import java.util.Scanner; public class L7E3 { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System. in ); String word1, word2; System.out.println("Please enter a word: "); word1 = keyboard.nextLine(); System.out.println("Please enter a word: "); word2 = keyboard.nextLine(); if (word1 == word2) { System.out.println("The words are " + word1 + " and " + word2 + ". These words are the same."); } else { System.out.println("The words are " + word1 + " and " + word2 + ". These words are not the same."); } } } I figured that word1==word2 would have worked to determine whether the two strings were equal, I'm using JGrasp and it goes directly to my else option regardless of input. Am I doing something wrong with strings?

  • T-SQL get SELECTed value of stored procedure

    - by David
    In T-SQL, this is allowed: DECLARE @SelectedValue int SELECT @SelectedValue = MyIntField FROM MyTable WHERE MyPrimaryKeyField = 1 So, it's possible to get the value of a SELECT and stuff it in a variable (provided it's scalar, obviously). If I put the same select logic in a stored procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE GetMyInt AS SELECT MyIntField FROM MyTable WHERE MyPrimaryKeyField = 1 Can I get the output of this stored procedure and stuff it in a variable? Something like: DECLARE @SelectedValue int SELECT @SelectedValue = EXEC GetMyInt (I know the syntax above is not allowed because I tried it!)
