  • Minimal slim way to create and run an internal RSS feed

    I have the idea to create a very simple tech update feed for internal collaboration in our company. For that I'm looking for the easiest way of writing messages which then get syndicated as RSS feed. Something like a mini blog tool. The simpler the better. Enter title, body and send, all subscribers of the feed get the new message. Sort of like Twitter without using Twitter.   • Handles and pointer to object

    I have a python Interpreter written in C++, the PyRun_String function from the Python API is said to return a handle, however in my code I have it assigned to pointer to a PyObject? PyObject* presult = PyRun_String(code, parse_mode, dict, dict); Is this actually correct? Can you implicitly cast this handle to this object pointer? Should it not be a HANDLE instead?

  • Django 1.2 and south problem

    Hi, I was using python 2.5 and django 1.0.2. But I moved to python 2.6 and django 1.2 recently and I'm getting the following error now during the migrate: http://slexy.org/view/s2HCFJj0yL After running migrate several times, it eventually passes.   • iphone app: delegate not responding

    Hi guys.. So i'm very new to this iphone development stuff.... and i'm stuck. I'm building an app that connects to the twitter api. However when the connectionDidFinishLoading method gets called, it doesn't seem to recognise the delegate.   • Django model fields getter / setter

    Hi, is there something like getters and setters for django model's fields? For example, I have a text field in which i need to make a string replace before it get saved (in the admin panel, for both insert and update operations) and make another, different replace each time it is read. Those string replace are dynamic and need to be done at the moment of saving and reading. As I'm using python 2.5, I cannot use python 2.6 getters / setters. Any help?

    I'm looking for an equivalent to GetTickCount() on Linux. Presently I am using Python's time.time() which presumably calls through to gettimeofday(). My concern is that the time returned (the unix epoch), may change erratically if the clock is messed with, such as by NTP. A simple process or system wall time, that only increases positively at a constant rate would suffice. Does any such time function in C or Python exist?

  • Dynamically change MYSQL query within a PHP file using jQuery .post?

    Hi, Been trying this for quite a while now and I need help. Basically I have a PHP file that queries database and I want to change the query based on a logged in users name. What happens on my site is that a user logs on with Twitter Oauth and I can display their details (twitter username etc.). I have a database which the user has added information to and I what I would like to happen is when the user logs in with Twitter Oauth, I could use jQuery to take the users username and update the mysql query to show only the results where the user_name = that particular users name. At the moment the mysql query is: "SELECT * FROM markers WHERE user_name = 'dave'" I've tried something like: "SELECT * FROM markers WHERE user_name = '$user_name'" And elsewhere in the PHP file I have $user_name = $_POST['user_name'];. In a separate file (the one in which the user is redirected to after they log in through Twitter) I have some jQuery like this: $(document).ready(function(){ $.post('phpsqlinfo_resultb.php',{user_name:"<?PHP echo $profile_name?>"})}); $profile_name has been defined earlier on that page. I know i'm clearly doing something wrong, i'm still learning.   • Why doesn't every, and I mean it, language have this feature?

    Some time ago I had a look into Ruby and one of the things which stood out most for me was the way of using symbols. While you to use defines or strings like in C++ or Python as an alternative, in Ruby you just write :mySymbol and the interpreter takes over the enumeration for you. I can't see any disadvantage this feature has, so why is it missing in say, PHP and Python?

    I want to write an emacs function that does the following - 1) Start a new shell named "abc". 2) Change the dir "/opt/abc" 3) In the dir run a shell command "python abc.py" I have written the following fucntion - (defun abc-server () (interactive) (shell-command "cd /opt/abc/") (shell-command "python abc.py")) The problem with the above - 1) It doesnt start a new shell 2) It doesnt change the dir. 3) When the cmd executes, it opens a browser window, which completely blocks any usage of emacs.

    Python needs a framework, so does Java (for the web). I don't know much about Ruby or Coldfusion. But is there another language out there for the web that can stand alone as it is without a need for a framework or without strict adherence to a design pattern (MVC and the likes) aside from PHP? BTW, the statement that Python and Java needs a framework to work with the web came purely from my readings on articles and books; I might be mistaken.
