  • Extending Zend_Log for application-specific need

    I am building a Zend Framework application that performs jobs submitted by the user. The actions taken need to be logged to a database. I would like to correlate the job with its log entries. Instead of creating my own logging class, I would like to extend Zend_Log since it provides 99% of the functionality that I need. All I need to do is add a foreign key of the job id to the log data model. Is this possible? I'm also looking for a good example of Zend_Log writing to a database. I haven't searched SO yet.   • How to load an external swf to the main stage from an instanced child class?

    Hi, I am trying to get an instance of a class to the load an external swf and show it. So far I have the following: 1) I wrote a class that uses the Loader class to load an external swf "loadExtSWF". 2) I have a fla named "MainSWF.fla" that uses a document class "MainSWF.as". 3) I have the MainSWF.as file that instances "loadExtSWF" and calls loadExtSWF.startLoad to load the swf. This almost works. The instance of loadExtSWF loads the external swf, but the swf is not displayed. If I replace the fla's document class with loadExtSWF (this has an empty constructor) instead of MainSWF, and run loadExtSWF.startLoad, then the external swf is loaded and displayed. It seems that the way I initially do it, loads the swf to the wrong stage (?). Any ideas? Thanks for the help. Bye, RaamEE P.S.     I need to scp and then ssh to the same host. Is it possible to authenticate just one time? Is it possible to input password once, then scp file, then ssh on that host and work interactively? Update I get HOSTNAME and SSH_PASSWORD. I never log in on that machine before. I need to send some files (probably using scp) and then log in using ssh and work on that HOST interactively. I want to save time and input password just once. I have lots of such hosts...

  • Attach to Property's setter

    I haven't found similiar post so I'm asking this. Let's say I defined somewhere an application wide available static Property (I mean it's not local) and in one class I would like to know when this property is being changed. Apart from aop (transparentproxy etc.) which I think doesn't suit me well here (and I can't add that to project anyway), what are the options here? One solution I can think of, which is probably a very nasty one, is to use some event that would be executed in the setter and just attach it in the class(es) which needs that. Something like: public static event EventHandler CurrentNumberChanged= delegate {}; public static int CurrentNumber { get { return currentNumber; } set { currentNumber = value; CurrentNumberChanged(null, EventArgs.Empty); } } I know it's really unsafe to use such events ( read here ). And since I would use it in asp.net makes it even more ugly. Do you have any advices ?

    Hi, I am pretty new with GUI, and I guess that is a silly question, but I am stuck... I am trying to make a folder explorer using TreeView control. now, I added an ImageList with two images - one for a folder and the other for selected folder. I used the 'BeforeExpand' event to change the icon of the current node (folder). The problem is that I dont know how to change it back when the user selects other folder... what event can I use? Maybe I dont use it right... ? Thanks guys :)

    I'm trying to schedule several cron jobs to generate serial numbers for different entities within my web app. However I am running into this problem, when I'm looping each table, it says it has something to do with date.js.   • Fastmm4 and leaking handles...

    Hi to all, I have just used FastMM4 to detect leaks. I did not realise our application was using a DLL which was leaking event handles and so I fixed any leaks reported by FastMM4 but not the handles as it was not reported. My questions are, would have FastMM4 have reported the leaking event handles? Would this require me to rebuild the dlls with FastMM4 included? I also heard someone mention ShareMM, do I need to add that? I am using Delphi2007, which I think is using the borland memory manager and if so, should I replace it with the fastMM4 one? What are the steps to do that? Sorry for asking so many questions, I am looking at delphi after a few years of doing .net development. JD.

    Hi, I need some help with a python service. I have a service written in Python. What I need to do is to pass it some arguments. Let me give you an example to explain it a bit better. Lets say I have a service, that does nothing but writes something to a log. I'd like to write the same thing into the log several times, so I use a loop. I would like to pass the counter for the loop when I start the service, but I have no idea how. I start the service with: win32serviceutil.HandleCommandLine(WinService) I'm looking for something like win32serviceutil.HandleCommandLine(WinService,10) I don't really care how its done, as long as I can pass arguments to it. Have been trying to get this to work for the better part of the day with no luck. Also, the service isn't run directly, but is imported and then run from there.

    I'd like to play around 3d in Flash and I'm wondering how sophisticated objects can i load from 3D Max... cos as i read it's possible to load something from 3d Max I've read that popular 3d engine is Away3d (many tutorials), so if there is nothing better... i'd like to focus on it. I've forgot to mention that i'm not familar with Flash, but the best way to learn something is to do something interesting with it... :) Main question: Can I load object from 3ds and link parts of this object to some actions in Flash. Better example: I'd like to load a Car and when user click on car's door i'd like to show some informations, about those door, or pass this event outside for example to any other application in PHP, Java etc... and when he click on car mask i'd like to raise other event... It looks like this: RootFolder - error.log - test - asd.txt - sd - testing.txt What I have now is an array of filepaths the user is allowed to view. I need to take this array into account when constructing the above tree. That array looks like this: Array ( [0] => Array ( [filePath] => RootFolder\test\sd ) [1] => Array ( [filePath] => RootFolder\error.log ) ) It would be easy to do a if in_array($path, $allowed) but that won't give me the tree. Just a list of files... Another part I'm stumped on is this requirement: If the user has access to view the folder test, they then have access to all children of that folder. My idea was to simply parse the filepaths. For example, I'd confirm that RootFolder\test\sd was a directory and then create a tree based on the '/' count. Like I was doing earlier. Then, since this is a directory, I'd pull out all files within this directory and show them to the user. However, I'm having trouble converting this to working code... Any ideas?

    I have a class, containing a list property, where the list contains objects that has an enum property. When I serialize this, it looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ibm850"?> <test> <events> <test-event type="changing" /> <test-event type="changed" /> </events> </test> Is it possible, through attributes, or similar, to get the Xml to look like this? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ibm850"?> <test> <events> <changing /> <changed /> </events> </test> Basically, use the property value of the enum as a way to determine the tag-name? Is using a class hierarchy (ie. creating subclasses instead of using the property value) the only way? Edit: After testing, it seems even a class-hierarchy won't actually work. If there is a way to structure the classes to get the output I want, even with sub-classes, that is also an acceptable answer.   • I think I don't understand git branches

    Salutations everyone, I have been working on a bash script as a small summer project to learn more about UNIX scripting and on using git. This has been the first time that I have used branches in git, normally I just stick to master. I was viewing the git log with the graph (git log --graph) when I noticed that my 'develop' branch seemed to have merged with 'master'. Something like this: master ----1--------3----4----5----6----HEAD develop \---2---/ but commits 3 onwards were done within the develop branch. Doing git checkout master and git checkout develop showed this to be true. What exactly is going on? Is this what is known as fast-forwarding? P.S.: Commits 1 and 2 are also a mystery to me being that commit 2 is actually an amendment of commit 1 (as far I thought, I used this advice)

    For my Google Wave robot, on the onDocumentChanged event I want to apply a filter as follows: @Capability(filter = FILTER) @Override public void onDocumentChanged(DocumentChangedEvent event) { ... } I want the filter to be generated the first time the robot is run, which I'm trying to do as follows: private static final String FILTER = generateFilter(); private static final String generateFilter(){ ... } However, it complains FILTER isn't a constant expression when used within @Capability. generateFilter() will return the same string every time it is called, I'm only using it to create the string so that when I make changes, I don't need to worry about updating the filter. Now I could be going about this all wrong, so wondered if anyone knew what I'm doing wrong, or knew a better way in which I could generate a constant expression from the function.
