  • Supporting twitter-like user page urls with apache/php?

    Hi, I'm using php on apache with mysql. I want to let users enter a url into their browser to see a custom user page for themselves, just like twitter does. For example, they could enter urls like: www.mysite.com/johndoe www.mysite.com/janedoe and see that user's page. How could I do this with php and apache? I don't want to create a folder on disk for every user like above, I'd instead kind of like to catch the url and generate the page on the fly for them, Thanks

  • Force download through markup or JS

    Lets assume I have a file on a CDN (Cloud Files from Rackspace) and a static html page with a link to that file. Is there any way I can force download this file (to prevent it from opening in the browser -- for mp3s for example)? We could make our server read the file and set the corresponding header to: header("Content-Type: application/force-download") but we have about 5 million downloads per month so we would rather let the CDN take care of that. Any ideas?

  • Why aren't Admob click callback delegate methods not getting called?

    I'm integrating the latest version of the admob sdk (version 20100412) into my app. The ads get displayed, but I need the app to make some changes when an ad is clicked and admob displays a full-screen browser. However, none of the callback methods (willPresentFullScreenModal, didPresentFullScreenModal, willDismissFullScreenModal, and didDismissFullScreenModal) are called, even though other delegate methods are. Why aren't these callbacks being made? They were in the previous versions of the SDK, and the sample app doesn't use them, so it's no help.

    I have some JQuery code that shows or hides a div. $("div#extraControls").show(); // OR .hide() I initially want the div to be not visible so I used: $(document).ready(function() { $("div#extraControls").hide(); }); However, on the browser, the content loads visible for a second before disappearing, which is not what I want. How do I set the hide the element before the page loads whilst keeping the ability to show hide it dynamically with a script?

    Is there a way to make the background of Eclipse IDE text editor transparent? I would like to adjust the alpha transparency of the background, but have the text still be opaque. Perhaps there is a plugin that accomplishes this? I haven't seen any options under preferences. And my search on Google has ended in vain thus far, although I did find some nice color themes. Example (Textmate): Note that the text is still solid. This is important, since making the whole window transparent could cause text to bleed into the desktop wallpaper (or whatever is under Eclipse). On another side note, I'm using the latest version of Eclipse (Helios), on both Windows 7 and Fedora 14.     I have a Postfix after-queue content filter that works fine on stock Ubuntu Postfix install. However, on a OS X Lion Server I'm testing out, I see this "auto-generated" language in the master.cf file: # ==== Begin auto-generated section ======================================== # This section of the master.cf file is auto-generated by the Server Admin # Mail backend plugin whenever mails settings are modified. smtp inet n - n - 1 postscreen smtpd pass - - n - - smtpd -o receive_override_options=no_address_mappings The problem is, to enable the filter the same area of the master.cf file has to be changed to have an entry like this: smtp inet n - - - - smtpd -o content_filter=mytest_filter:dummy So, it looks like the line would be blown away every I make a change in Server Admin. Is there a better place for me to put the call to the filter such that it's persistent? I appreciate any assistance and/or guidance!

  • How to display downloaded youtube annotations ( not captions) on offline video player?

    i need to display the annotations for some of my downloaded youtube videos. It's also important to make them closeable. Making them clickable would also be nice. What i found out so far: From what i understand there there is a vlc plugin/extension that could also render the annotations but i'm having a hard time finding it. Mplayer might also be an option but i'd have to convert the xml files to .bmp and then use a bmov filter to play them. Any suggestions welcome. Edit: to further clarify i would like to display/overlay annotations from a youtube xml file (i'm willing to go through a conversion step if i have to) pretty much the same way i can display subtitles from a srt or sub file. Edit2: I'm open to using other players too ( if vlc is not a feasible option for what i want)

    Hi, I am executing the following javascript on my browser(firefox) 1.console.debug("Screen height = "+ screen.availHeight); //output 770 2.console.debug("Window Height ="+ $(window).height()); //output 210 (i am using jQuery as well) What is the difference between the two? Are units of 770 is pixels and 210 is mm ? Similarly, when I write $(document).height() and $(window).height() , there is a difference . What is the reason ?
