  • Database design problem: intermediate table between 2 tables may end up with too many results.

    I have to design a database to handle forms. Basically, a form needs to go through (exactly) 7 people, one by one. Each person can either agree or decline a form. If one declines, the chain stops and the following people don't even get notified that there is a form. Right now I have thought of those 3 tables: FORM, PERSON, and RESPONSE inbetween. However, my first solution sounds too heavy because each form could have up to 7 responses. Here we are with the table inbetween. That means that each successful form has 7 rows in the table RESPONSE. Here we have the responding information directly inside the form. It looks ugly but at least keeps everything as singular as possible. On the bad side I can't track the response dates, but I don't think it is crucial for that matter. What is your opinion on this? I feel like both of them are wrong and I don't know how to fix that. If that matters, I'll be using Oracle 9.

  • Getting RPXNow and Facebook Open Graph to Play Nicely

    A requirement to use the RPXNow is to set your Facebook application's connect url to http://mydomain.rpxnow.com. I was just trying to implement Facebook's Open Graph and I see that it tells you to set the Base Domain to the domain that will contain the app_id. However, Facebook does not allow these two domains to look different. When I try to set the base url to mydomain.com, I get this error: Validation failed. Base Domain is not valid. Connect URL must be derived from your Base Domain. Should I create two apps - one for use with RPXNow, and another for use with Open Graph? If not, what should I do? Thanks

    I have a swf hosted at domain A, and I have a html at domain B My swf is able to be loaded from accessing the html at domain B. However, the swf gets a SecurityError: Error #2060: Security sandbox violation: ExternalInterface caller http://domainA.com/TrialApp.swf cannot access http://DomainB.com/. The as3 is just the below: ExternalInterface.call("javascript:_invite();"); I've also loaded the crossdomain policy file from Domain B during initialization.   • Get list of users belonging to a role using Authorization Manager (AzMan)

    Using ASP.NET (C#) I have set up Authorization Manager to allow me to handle roles on a website. Added users to roles is simple Roles.AddUserToRole("DOMAIN\\UserName", "role"). However I want to list the users belonging to a role, but since they are stored as SID's, displaying them would not be that helpful. To get the users, I am thinking XML would have to be used, although is it possible to use COM Interop to both do that and get the user name? Either way, how can I get the users belonging to a role? The table to manage roles would basically be like this: Role User ---- ---- admin DOMAIN\UserName [delete] DOMAIN\UserName2 [delete] [add user text box] news DOMAIN\UserName3 [delete] [add user text box]

  • Access Expression problem: it's too complex, so how do I turn it in to a function?

    Access 2007 is telling me that my new expression is to complex. It used to work when we had 10 service levels, but now we have 19! Great! I've asked this question in SuperUser and someone suggested I try it over here. Suggestions are I turn it in to a function - but I'm not sure where to begin and what the function would look like. My expression is checking the COST of our services in the [PriceCharged] field and then assigning the appropriate HOURS [Servicelevel] when I perform a calculation to work out how much REVENUE each colleague has made when working for a client. The [EstimatedTime] field stores the actual hours each colleague has worked. [EstimatedTime]/[ServiceLevel]*[PriceCharged] Below is the breakdown of my COST to HOURS expression.   • Seemingly simple skinning problem in Flex4; style gives disco effect

    I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. Simple project in flex4, whereby I create a skinned combobox (fragments at end). If I turn on the 3 skin references (over-skin, up-skin, down-skin), the combobox appears to simply stop working. If I remove the up-skin, hovering over the combo produces a flickering effect, where it appears to apply the style, then remove it immediately. I get the same thing with a button instead of a combo.   • Using Excel VBA to send emails. Problem with attachments becoming embedded by accident.

    Hi, I am having an issue with an Excel macro I wrote that is used by several users within my company. It is used to send numerous emails daily with attachments that are also Excel workbooks. The issue is that sometimes, instead of the file simply being attached as it should be, it becomes an embedded object. This embedded object is openable by users on the email within the company (after clicking through the "YOu are about to activate an embedded object that may contain viruses or be otherwise harmful to your computer. It is important to be certain that it is from a trustworthy source. Do you want to continue?"), but those outside of the company do not see it at all. The email appears to have no attachment at all. Curiously, this appears to happen randomly, and only on some computers. So if the list has 15 email lists and attachments, it seems to happen randomly to anywhere between 0 and 15 of the emails. To be clear, my objective is to send emails with regular attachments. Running Excel 2003, Outlook 2003, and Windows XP. See code below. Please help!   • 301 redirect vs parking

    I have several domain names registered, each a slight variant of each other. E.g, fastcar.com fast-car.com fastcar.co.uk fast-car.co.uk etc.. I don't wish to be penalized for duplicate content or spammy links by any of the major search engines. Should I park them all directly on the main domain I wish to promote, 301 redirect them to the main domain or not use them at all? Thanks

  • Problem with truncation of floating point values in DBSlayer.

    When I run a query through DBslayer http://code.nytimes.com/projects/dbslayer the floating point results are truncated to a total of six digits (plus decimal point and negative sign when needed). { ... "lat":52.2228,"lng":-2.19906, ... } When I run the same query in MySQL, the results are as expected. | 52.22280884 | -2.19906425 | Firstly, am I correct in identifying DBSlayer as the cause of this effect?     Hi, i'm having this issue, in ASP.NET MVC 2 where I'm adding a drop down list on the master page and filling it with data from an abstract master controller. When an option is selected an submit button clicked, it reroutes you to a new page. so lets say the page lives on http://domain.com/landingPage i'm on: http://domain.com/landingPage i select option and submit takes me to http://domain.com/landingPage/Projects/FramedPage i select again and now the post tries to go to: http://domain.com/landingPage/Projects/landingPage/Projects/FramedPage because of the action="" i have set on the form tag. Any ideas on how to go about this?   • 'Error serializing body'. Problem calling Fedex webservice through .NET 3.5

    I'm using Fedex's web services and getting an annoying error right up front before I can actually get anywhere. There was an error in serializing body of message addressValidationRequest1: 'Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS0030: Cannot convert type 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement[]' to 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement' error CS0029: Cannot implicitly convert type 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement' to 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement[]' '. Please see InnerException for more details. I'm using .NET 3.5 and get a horrible named class generated for me (I'm not sure why it isn't just AddressValidationService): AddressValidationPortTypeClient addressValidationService = new ...; on this class I make my web service call: addressValidationService.addressValidation(request); This is when I get this error. The only references I can find to this error come from ancient 1.1 projects. In my case my DLL has references to System.Web and System.Web.Services which seemed to be an issue back then.
