    I have a logon script that I want to be run when users login to remote desktop on my WinServer2008r2 box. I know I can do this client-side (in the RemoteDesktopClient "Run Program" options) but would rather it be enforced server-side. If I assign the logon script to a GPO, the script will be run whenever the user logs into their local PC. I would like to assign the logon script to the Remote Desktop Users group, but only when they're logging into remote desktop, not when they're logging into their own system. Thoughts?

  • Scripting an automated SQLServer 2008 DR move

    Hi All We use the built in logshipping in SQLServer to logship to our DR site but once in a month do a DR test which requires us to move back and forth between our Live and BAckup servers. We run multiple (30) databases on the system so manually backing up the final logs and disabling the jobs is too much work and takes too long. I though no problem, I will script it but have run into trouble with it always complaninig that the final logship is too early to apply even though I dont export the final log until putting the database into norecovery mode. Firstly, does any one no a simple and reliable way of doing this? I have lokoed at some 3rd party software (redgate sqlbackup I think it was) but that didnt make it easy in this situation either. What I want to be able to do is basically run a script (a series of stored procedures) to get me to DR and run another to get me back with no dataloss. My scripts are very simplistic at the moment but here they are: 2 servers Primary Paris Secondary ParisT The StartAgentJobAndWait is a script written by someone else (ta) and just checks the jobs have finished or quits it if it never ends.     I've generated a certificate using openssl and place it on the client's machine, but when I try to connect to my server using that certificate, I error mentioned in the subject line back from my server. Here's what I've done. 1) I do a test connect using openssl to see what the acceptable client certificate CA names are for my server, I issue this command from my client machine to my server: openssl s_client -connect myupload.mysite.net:443/cgi-bin/posupload.cgi -prexit and part of what I get back is as follow: Acceptable client certificate CA names /C=US/ST=Colorado/L=England/O=Inteliware/OU=Denver Office/CN=Tim Drake/[email protected] /C=US/ST=Colorado/O=Inteliware/OU=Denver Office/CN=myupload.mysite.net/[email protected] 2) Here is what is in the apache configuration file on the server regarding SSL client authentication: SSLCACertificatePath /etc/apache2/certs SSLVerifyClient require SSLVerifyDepth 10 3) I generated a self-signed client certificate called "client.pem" using mypos.pem and mypos.key, so when I run this command: openssl x509 -in client.pem -noout -issuer -subject -serial here is what is returned: issuer= /C=US/ST=Colorado/O=Inteliware/OU=Denver Office/CN=myupload.mysite.net/[email protected] subject= /C=US/ST=Colorado/O=Inteliware/OU=Denver Office/CN=mlR::mlR/[email protected] serial=0E (please note that mypos.pem is in /etc/apache2/certs/ and mypos.key is saved in /etc/apache2/certs/private/) 4) I put client.pem on the client machine, and on the client machine, I run the following command: openssl s_client -connect myupload.mysite.net:443/cgi-bin/posupload.cgi -status -cert client.pem and I get this error: CONNECTED(00000003) OCSP response: no response sent depth=1 /C=US/ST=Colorado/L=England/O=Inteliware/OU=Denver Office/CN=Tim Drake/[email protected] verify error:num=19:self signed certificate in certificate chain verify return:0 574:error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca:/SourceCache/OpenSSL098/OpenSSL098-47/src/ssl/s3_pkt.c:1102:SSL alert number 48 574:error:140790E5:SSL routines:SSL23_WRITE:ssl handshake failure:/SourceCache/OpenSSL098/OpenSSL098-47/src/ssl/s23_lib.c:182: I'm really stumped as to what I've done wrong. I've searched quite a bit on this error and what I found is that people are saying the issuing CA of the client's certificate is not trusted by the server, yet when I look at the issuer of my client certificate, it matches to one of the accepted CA returned by my server.     Hello, I am looking for a solution on a LAMP server to keep a site cookieless such as "example.com", where static content is served from "static.example.com", and with rules in place to rewrite requests for "www.example.com" to "example.com". I am really hoping to avoid setting up a cookieless domain for the static content due to an unanswered SEO concern with regards to CNAMEing to a CDN. Is there a way, (or safe hack), that can be implemented where a second domain such as "www.example2.com" is CNAMEd, aliased, or otherwise used with "example.com" to somehow trick a php application into maintaining state with a cookie dropped on "www.example2.com" therefore keeping all of "example.com" cookieless? If such a solution is feasible, what implications would exists with regards to SSL and cross-browser compatibility other than requiring users to accept cookies from 3rd party domains and possibly needing an additional SSL to keep the cookie secure?     Our current environment is all Windows 2003. When we migrate a new version of our service to the cluster, we first stop the service with a command like: cluster.exe <clusterName> resource "<serviceName>" /offline We do similarly after the migrate to bring the service back online. Now, we are upgrading our environment to new Windows 2008 servers. However, our build/migrate machine will remain Windows 2003. When issuing the same command from Windwos 2003 to Windows 2008, we get: System error 1722 has occurred (0x000006ba). The RPC server is unavailable. We need to be able to remotely administer a Windows 2008 cluster from a Windows 2003 server in an automated fashion (such as the command-line cluster.exe utility). Is this possible? Thanks, Gideon

    I'm creating a batch script for a class and I've hit a roadblock I have to list all text files whose names are up to seven characters long on the whole c: drive - make the listing output in a wide formant - then append to Batch script file output.txt So far I have -- dir c:*txt/w/o/s/p c:/"My Batch Script File Assigment"/"Output"/"Batch Script File Output Data".txt The above does everything except limit the search to files with only 1-7 characters in their name. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it!

  • ISA 2006 SP1 - SSL Client Certificate Authentication in Workgroup Environment

    We have an IIS6 website that was previously published using an ISA 2006 SP1 standard server publishing rule. In IIS we had required a client certificate be provided before the website could be accessed... this all worked fine and dandy. Now we wish to use a web publishing rule on ISA 2006 SP1 for this same website. However, it seems the client certificate doesn't get processed now, so of course the user can't access the website. I've read a few articles stating the CA for the certificate needs to be installed in the trusted root certificate authorities store on the ISA Server (i have done this), as well as installing the client certificate on the ISA Server (done as well). I have also verified that the ISA Server is able to access the CRL for our CA no problem... In the listener properties for the web publishing rule, under Authentication, and Client Authentication Method, there is an option for SSL Client Certificate Authentication... i select this, but it appears the only Authentication Validation Method selectable is Windows (Active Directory).... there is no Active Directory in this environment. When i configure the rule with the defaults, I then try to hit my website and it prompts for my certificate, i choose it and hit ok... then I'm given the following error Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the server administrator. (12202) I check the event logs on the ISA Server and in Security Logs, i see Event ID 536, Failure Aud. The reason: The NetLogon component is not active. I think this is pretty obvious since there is no active directory available. Is there a way to make this web publishing rule work using client certificates in this workgroup environment? Any suggestions or links to helpful documents would be greatly appreciated!

    I am trying to run the script listed at http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=70866&page=2 on its intended hardware, a Nokia Linux phone running BusyBox ash. The script receives the name of WiFi network as a parameter, and tries to connect the phone to it. I suspect the script works, but my SSID, BU (802.1x), has space and parentheses in it. So when I type at the command prompt autoconnect.sh BU\ \(802.1x\) I get various errors. First, LIST=`iwconfig wlan0 | awk -F":" '/ESSID/{print $2}'` if [ $LIST = "\"$1\"" ]; then ...fails, even I am connected to the network. The error is not avoided by using single or double quotes instead of escaping characters at the command prompt. Second, if [ -z `iwlist wlan0 scan | grep -m 1 -o \"$1\"` ]; then echo SSID \"$1\" not found; shows that grep does not find the string, although the same grep, typed directly into the command prompt, does find 'BU (802.1x)'. How do I quote $1 in the two circumstances above so that it will work with my network SSID, containing spaces and parentheses? Thank you.

    Ethernet to TL-WR340G with WIFI enabled Using TL-WA500 tried repeater mode which was not good enough and had password problems (could not connect if using either ASCII or Normal password in one way then in repeater worked other way) and also could not forward (repeat) WPA/WPA2 security. So since this repeater can also be as client, I made it as client and used another router (TL-WR740N) to get from wire connection from that client and all was working for a little bit. Every machine is set up to be auto DHCP. 1st when setting up client mode I found it working after doing reset. Then after some tens of minutes internet stopped working. When I removed WiFi client then all went back to normal. Where is the problem and how to make this work?     Hi. Exploring Vmware products/services and have a few questions. As I understand VM, you can use VMWare Workstation to create a VM of a target machine/box/OS. Let's call this VM, "foo". If I have 100 client PCs in my dept, and I want to install the VM (foo) on each client, and also manage the remote VM instances of (foo). How can I accompish this? Let's assume that the client machines are running Windows7, and have the vmplayer app installed on the box. I'm looking to do the following kinds of actions regarding the remote client machines: -Update the foo VM/image with new updated copies -Make sure that every VM "foo" has the same user, but a unique passwd -Monitor the traffic/status of each client VM "foo" oin each client -Start/Stop each client VN "foo" from the master console -Etc... Can this be accomplished? How would I do it, what services/products would I need? I've tried toalking to a few of the pre-sales guys in VMWare, and got nowhere, other than telling me to email my questions!! Looking at google shed more insight, but I still have questions. So, if you have detailed VMWare understanding, pointers to consultants, or resellers who can help, all pointers are greatly appreciated. Thanks -tom

    I have problem where I can't access my ILO(ssh to ILO IP) thru client which is in different network.I am able to ping ILO IP thru this clinet but ssh access is not possible. Is it possible to have ssh to ILO IP from a client which is in different network? FYI, from the same client I can do ssh to server application IP but ssh to this server ILO IP is not possible. Kindly help? Some more info added: ILO IP address is 10.247.172.70 and its VLAN is different than Client VLAN. Client IP address is 10.247.167.80. ping to ILO IP from this client is possible but not ssh. I can do ssh to ILO IP if I try to do it from the server(hostname:node1) having ILO port or from the other node of this cluster itself,So ssh login is enabled.
