  • How to change icon/emblem of a directory from bash

    - by Question Mark
I'm playing around with get_iplayer (fantastic) it's running every few hours to grab any new episodes of whatever.... After it has finished grabbing anything new i'd like to change the emblem of ~/Videos to add a plus or star (nautilus emblem preferably) Do i go about this via nautilus? Do i need to change something in gnome-config? I'm sure this can't be FS level? Cheers for any links and advice.

  • How to activate Mac OS X application with a given process ID?

    - by Olivier
I know the process id of an application in Mac OS X. How can I switch to it (using applescript, or python, or whatever)? By "switch", I mean, put in focus. The usual solution is to use the applescript code tell application "Foo" activate, but here the name is not useful because I have many instances of the same application running. I am however able to get the process id of the application. How can I switch to this application programmatically?

  • How to get the root path in JavaScript?

    - by Axel
    I am using mod_rewrite to remap the URLs in my website in the following format: http://www.mydomain.com/health/54856 http://www.mydomain.com/economy/strategy/911025/ http://www.mydomain.com/tags/obama/new The problem is that I am making AJAX calls to a file: http://www.mydomain.com/login.php And I don't want to write the FULL url or even use the ../ trick because there isn't a fixed level of folders. So, what i want is something to access the login.php from the root, whatever the domain name is: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://www.mydomain.com/login.php" });

  • Describe your workflow of using version control (VCS or DVCS)

    - by edwin.nathaniel
I'd like to learn other people workflow when using either SVN or GIT. Please describe your strategy to handle the following tasks: Implement a feature Fixing bugs (during development and deployed app) Code Review Refactoring code (post code-review) Incorporate patches Releasing the newer version of your app (desktop, web, mobile, would you treat them differently?) Feel free to organize your answer not grouped by the tasks but grouped by whatever you think is relevant but please organize it by VCS/DVCS (please don't mix them). Thank you.

  • Is it possible to create a service like Feed My Inbox on my own server?

    - by Mark Bowen
I was just wondering if it's at all possible to create a service like Feed My Inbox on my own server using PHP? Basically I have a site which has RSS feeds which are dynamic in nature and can search from thousands of posts based on many different criteria. I have the RSS feed working fine and bringing back data dynamically for whatever criteria I want so that bits fine. I am using the ExpressionEngine CMS to handle the site and there will be thousands of users on the site (currently there are around 2,0000) but that number is exponentially growing every single day. What I want to be able to do is allow the users to choose from certain criteria which will then build a dynamic RSS URL which will then be stored in a database table (one row for each user). This bit I will be able to do myself but then I want to be able to send out new RSS feed items via e-mail to each user. This is the part I'm a little stuck on. I'm guessing I would somehow need to run a cron job to hit a page which would check each users RSS feed and then if there are new items to send them to the user via e-mail. That's where I am totally stuck though and I'm just wondering what the best way to go about it would be? That or any software in PHP that already does this sort of thing would be great. I tried out phpList but it has severe problems working with RSS and I only ever got it to work once and now never again and I've read that lots of people have had this same problem so unfortunately it's not just me :-( I know there are services such as Feed My Inbox which I could easily set up so that users click a link and their RSS feed URL is added to go and use that service but I want to keep users from seeing the dynamic nature of the feed or they will easily be able to modify it to get at other items in the feed. I need this so that I can charge for access to the feeds but if people can see the URL of the feed then I will be totally unstuck as they will be able to get at whatever they want very easily. Therefore I'd like to be able to send the items out to them. Would really love to hear if anyone knows if this kind of thing is possible at all and what would be involved?

  • castle dynamic proxy creation

    - by ashish.s
I am implementing a design where my layer would sit between client and server, and whatever objects i get from server, i would wrap it in a transparent proxy and give to the client, that way i can keep a track of what changed in the object, so when saving it back, i would only send changed information. I looked at castle dynamic proxy, linfu, although they can generate a proxy type, but they cant take existing objects and wrap them instead. Wondering if its possible to do with these frameworks, or if there any other frameworks that enable this...

  • Disable Source tab in Google Code

    - by Ngu Soon Hui
How to disable source tab in Google Code? I don't want any random users to look at my code. Before you say that this can't be done, that Google Code is by default open source. Someone managed to do it, somehow. Edit: Before you downvote me further, take a look at the link I provided. It's possible to do it, despite whatever you want to say. And I want to know how.

  • dynamically decorating objects in c#

    - by Oren Mazor
is it possible to easily and dynamically decorate an object? for example, lets say I have a List<PointF>. this list is actually a plot of the sine function. I'd like to go through these points and add a flag to each PointF of whether it's a peak or not. but I don't want to create a new extended SpecialPointF or whatever, that has a boolean property. judge me all you want for being lazy, but laziness is how awesome ideas are born (also bad ideas)

    - by Camran

For example this drop-list: Fruits Apple Banana Orange Colors Red White Black The above are all options, but some have "inlets" or "offsets" or whatever you want to call it. How is this done with js? (regular js, not jquery at the moment) Thanks If you need more input let me know.

  • Advantage Database Server: in-memory queries.

    - by ie
As far as I know, ADS v.10 tries to keep result of query in memory until it is a quite huge. The same should be true for the __output table and for temporary tables. When the result becoming large, swapping stated. The question is what memory limit is set for a query, a worker, whatever? Could this limit be configured? Thanks.

  • Delay garbage collection?

    - by GeoffreyF67
I'm using chrome (the dev version for my mac). I was looking at the timeline for my page loading and I saw that there is a 150ms delay due to some garbage collection taking place while loading the page. http://cl.ly/cce10619c698a5b276e2 It's the yellow line. I was curious if there's any way to stop this, delay it, whatever so I get the page to load faster? G-Man

  • Admin auto generation

    - by Me-and-Coding
Hi, I create custom CMS sites and then go ahead for the backend/admin side. Is there any tool out there to automatically create admin side of my sites, for example, based on table relationships or whatever customization we may put in place. PHPMaker seems to claim something like what i ask for but i have not used it. Any tool out there to auto-create admin side or PHPMaker is up to the point? Thanks

  • Twitter Bootstrap Navbar blocking svg viewBox

    - by user1167650
I have a navbar fixed to the bottom and I have page that has a title and a giant svg (created by d3.js). I would like the svg to take up the entire screen (whatever is left over), but it always seems to have some part appear behind the bottom nav bar. I've tried: 1) using viewBox to auto-resize, setting the parent div and the svg to be block elements 2) adding padding-bottom to the body element But the svg still appears behind the navbar on wide screen monitors.

  • Is it guaranteed that False == 0 and True == 1 in Python?

    - by EOL
Is it guaranteed that False == 0 and True == 1, in Python? For instance, is it in any way guaranteed that the following code will always produce the same results, whatever the version of Python (existing and in the foreseeable future)? 0 == False # True 1 == True # True ['zero', 'one'][False] # is 'zero' Any reference to the official documentation would be much appreciated! Other comments would be appreciated too… :)

  • In mercurial, is there a way to disable ALL configurations (system, user, repo)?

    - by Geoffrey Zheng
On any non-trivial hg installation, the hgrc's tend to contain significant stuff. Is there a way to completely ignore/bypass ALL configurations, from system, user, to repo-level? The use case is to use some hg core functionalities in some automation scripts. Currently, if anything is misconfigured (and I mess with my ~/.hgrc a lot), the scripts will abort for something it doesn't use at all. It'd be perfect is I can just hg <whatever> --config:none.
