  • How can I create an external SSL wrapper/tunnel page for an insecure webpage behind a firewall?

    I have an security cam with a built-in webpage inside my home network. That camera is using basic HTTP authentication instead of SSL. I want to be able to access the camera's webpage from outside my network, but I don't want to open an unencrypted video stream to the outside world. Right now, I'm doing some cumbersome ssh tunneling where I bounce off an ssh server like: ssh -N -L 9090:CAMERA_IP:80 [email protected] and then I connect to my web page like: http://localhost:9090 But this is a pain. Now, gentle reader, I beseech you to tell me how I can use linux (Ubuntu) to get a fully encrypted SSL connection to my internal web page without the hassle of creating an ssh tunnel each time. I believe I can use stunnel, but I'm not sure of the command.

  • Virtual NIC on VM couldn't ping externally after Vmotion

    Today I vmotioned 5 MS SQL 2005 servers over to a new DRS Cluster. All SQL servers use the "Production_LAN" network and a single virtual NIC of type "VMXNET 3". The first 4 SQL VM (Windows 2003 Standard or Enterprise x32 bit) vmotioned over without a hitch. The last SQL VM I vmotioned (Windows 2003 Standard x64 bit R2) vmotioned over without error, but I upon completion, I could no longer ping the VM. I went into the VM and could not even ping the gateway, however I could ping the loopback. This SQL server is extremely busy in comparison with the previous 4 VM's. I restarted the server and it came back up with the virtual nic working just fine. The build of both servers (vmotioner and vmotionee) is ESX 4.0.0 175625 - So, pre-update 1. Should I suspect the network switch/VM for possibly not updating the mac table on the switch? Anybody else ever have this issue or know what may have caused it? Thank you!

  • Can Linux works as 802.1X authenticator in bridge mode ?

    I want to create a lab for my students with netkit (a network emulator based on 802.1X) to study 802.1X. I can create the authentication server (FreeRadius) and configure the client with XSupplicant connected by a switch (a Linux in bridge mode). I'm looking to a way to configure the switch as Authenticator, i.e.: when the client is connected, the switch only forwards EAP packets to the authentication server. then the switch lets the user access to the local network when the authentication server authorizes the client. At the present time there is a lot of documentation to do this with a wireless point but no one for a switch. Does anyone have an idea or know the good software for it ?

    I'm trying to install a second version of PHP, to run alongside the current version of php. I've compiled the latest php source from github (5.5-DEV), and I'm trying to run it as CGI. I would like to have the different versions of php on different virtual hosts

    Hi, I have bunch of questions: I have a Mac network, which has five Mac's. Right now, they are individually getting software updates. Is there a way to download the patches/security updates in a single place (repository) and point all machines to this location? Personally, I have tools like Monolingual and Onyx, but are there tools you could recommend that affect the performance of the Operating System positively? Tweaks would be nice. Links and pointers, would be really appreciated. I've read about Time machine, is there a way to backup all machines to a network drive using this tool? Thanks!

  • CARP: two machines think they're the master, but only on one interface

    I have two machines, each configured identically as a firewall/load balancer for a busy website. I have set them up with CARP and pfsync on both the internal and external interfaces. The internal interface is behaving as expected (primary listed as MASTER and secondary listed as BACKUP) On both machines, the network interfaces are as follows: em0 - External interface bge0 - Internal interface bge1 - Crossover connection between both machines carp0 - Shared external interface for CARP carp1 - Shared internal interface for CARP I've rewritten the IP addresses and MAC addresses below.     I understand that Tunnel Adapter LAN is for encapsulating IPv6 packets with an IPv4 header so that they can be sent across an IPv4 network. Few queries popped up in my mind based on this :- If i do 'ipconfig', Apart from ethernet adapter LAN details, I get a series of statments as below - Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 6 Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 7 Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 12 Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 13 Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 14 Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 15 Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 16 Except for the *16, all the other Tunnel Adapter Local Area Connections show Media Disconnected. Why is the numbering for the Tunnel adapter LAN not sequential? It is like 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16. A strange numbering scheme! I tried to figure it out by thinking of some arithmetic series. But, it does not seem to fit in. There is a huge gap between 7 and 12. Any ideas? What is the need for so many Tunnel Adapter LAN connections? Can you tell me a scenario that requires all of those ? I did ipconfig /all to get more information. From the listing, I understand that: 16, 15, 14, 12 are Microsoft 6to4 Adapters 13, 6 are isatap Adapters 7 is Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-interface I understand that the above are for automatic tunneling so that the tunnel endpoints are determined automatically by the routing infrastructure. 6to4 is recommended by RFC3056 for automatic tunneling that uses protocol 41 for encapsulation. It is typically used when an end-user wants to connect to the IPv6 Internet using their existing IPv4 connection. Teredo is an automatic tunneling technique that uses UDP encapsulation across multiple NATs. That is, It is to grant IPv6 connectivity to nodes that are located behind IPv6-unaware NAT devices ISATAP treats the IPv4 network as a virtual IPv6 local link, with mappings from each IPv4 address to a link-local IPv6 address. That is to transmit IPv6 packets between dual-stack nodes on top of an IPv4 network. That is, to put in simple words, ISATAP is an intra-site mechanism, while the 6to4 and Teredo are for inter-site tunnelling mechanisms. It seems that Teredo should alone enabled by default in Vista, But my system does not show it to be enabled by default. Interestingly, it shows a 6to4 tunnel adapter (Tunnel adapter LAN connection 16) to be enabled by default? Any specific reasons for it? If i do ipconfig /all, why is only one Teredo present while four 6to4 are present ? I searched the internet for answers to the above queries, but I am unable to find clear answers.

  • How to solve 'Connection refused' errors in SSH connection?

    I have an Ubuntu Server 10.10 32-bit in my home. I'm making SSH connections to it from my PC via Putty. The problem is, sometimes I'm able to login seamlessly. However, sometimes it gives me an error like this: Network error: Connection refused. Then, I dont't change anything, try to login a few times more, wait a while and try again. Sometimes I can log in, sometimes I cannot. It seems pretty random to me. What can I do to solve this? Edit: And Sometimes, Putty gives Network error: Software caused connection abort error after displaying login as: text.   • Aperture and networked drive: thinks images are offline

    I keep my photos on a networked drive (wireless), and they are referenced by Aperture. Aperture seems to not try very hard to look for this drive. Usually I have to open the network drive in Finder before opening Aperture -- otherwise it doesn't find the images and considers them offline. To me this seems like Aperture isn't willing to look on the network for the drive, unless it was helped along by pointing it out in Finder. It doesn't work if I start Aperture first and then navigate to the drive in Finder. What are some workarounds to making this functional? Is there a way to tell Aperture to look again without restarting the program?

In Windows 7, my WiFi works perfect but in Ubuntu it absolutely (no matter what I do) won't detect my home WiFi network.     Hi, I have a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 hosting a DNS server, exchange 2010 and is a domain controller. One computer on the network (and domain) can ping the server 25% of the time, also when I try to ping it's own hostname it also does not work. However another computer that is on the domain can ping it fine, and another computer on the network but not domain can ping fine as well. The computer that cannot ping the server is setup to use the DNS server running on the server only (secondary dns points to nothing) and it will resolve the hostname of the server to the external IP not internal when the other two computers correctly resolve the internal All 3 computers and server are connected directly into the same switch. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

I have already read and tried eveything on this page but without any success (well, I tried the example dump on that page and succeeded, but I fail with my own packets). I caught the four-way handshake from another client connecting to the network. What could I have missed?

    I'm using an SPI host adapter for a project. The Aardvark from TotalPhase. And I did something crazy, I read that EULA license that everyone just clicks through. The driver installation license includes these bits: This driver installer package also includes a WIN32 driver that is entirely based on the libusb-win32 project (release 0.1.10.1). ... LICENSE: The software in this package is distributed under the following licenses: Driver: GNU General Public License (GPL) Library, Test Files: GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) Now, my understanding of of the GPL is that it's sticky and viral. If you include software then the whole project has to be released under the GPL (if you distribute it, you can do whatever you want with in-house projects). If the driver was like the library, and was licensed under the LGPL, it could be used by my closed source proprietary project, as long as it's source and license was passed along with it. But it's not, it's pure GPL. If I include this driver in my project and distribute it, am I required to release my project under the GPL?

    When I try to connect to a named instance in a SQL SERVER hosted in a azure VM I get this message: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1) The problem is the sql browser is not working properly, when I start the sql browser service it closes after a few seconds and the event log says "There are no instances of SQL Server or SQL Server Analysis Services." But I do have a named instance, I can connect locally to this instance. I've re-installed sql browser and the instance but ii does not work. The host is a azure virtual machine windows server 2008 datacenter. Please help. Thank you

I can ping myself, the gateway and any other IP, but domains I can use nslookup and obtain the correct IP info There are some error information in the event log about dns client events explaining the client can not verify the DNS server available Windows network diagnosis explain that Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (Primary DNS Server) I guess the dns client should be blame. I tried to do the following things but the fault persist.   • Struggling to get set up with JOGL2.0

    I guess that Game Dev' is a more sensible place for my problem then SO. I did have JOGL1.1 set up and working, but I soon discovered that it did not support the latest OpenGL, so I started work on upgrading to JOGL2.0 it's not gone too well. Firstly, is it worth me trying to get JOGL to work, or should I just move over to LWJGL? I am fairly comfortable with OpenGL (via C++) and from what I did get working with JOGL1.1, I seem to be OK adapting to it. Assuming that I stick with JOGL, am I foolish for trying to use JOGL2.0? From what I can gather, JOGL2.0 is still in beta, but I am willing to go with it as I want to make use of the latest OpenGL I can. I have been using the Eclipse IDE and have set up a user library for JOGL, here is a screen shot of the configuration and I have added this user library to my own Eclipse project. the system variable %JOGL_HOME% points to "C:\Users\edacosh\Downloads\JOGL2.0" so that should work fine. Now, the problem I actually having, when I try to run my code, on the line GLProfile glp = GLProfile.getDefault(); The code stops with the following message...
