  • stored procedure for importing txt in sql server db

    - by Iulian
I have to insert new records in a database every day from a text file ( tab delimited). I'm trying to make this into a stored procedure with a parameter for the file to read data from. CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.UpdateTable @FilePath BULK INSERT TMP_UPTable FROM @FilePath WITH ( FIRSTROW = 2, MAXERRORS = 0, FIELDTERMINATOR = '\t', ROWTERMINATOR = '\n' ) RETURN Then i would call this stored procedure from my code (C#) specifying the file to insert. This is obviously not working, so how can i do it ?

  • Twisted: why is it that passing a deferred callback to a deferred thread makes the thread blocking a

    - by surtyaarthoughts
I unsuccessfully tried using txredis (the non blocking twisted api for redis) for a persisting message queue I'm trying to set up with a scrapy project I am working on. I found that although the client was not blocking, it became much slower than it could have been because what should have been one event in the reactor loop was split up into thousands of steps. So instead, I tried making use of redis-py (the regular blocking twisted api) and wrapping the call in a deferred thread. It works great, however I want to perform an inner deferred when I make a call to redis as I would like to set up connection pooling in attempts to speed things up further. Below is my interpretation of some sample code taken from the twisted docs for a deferred thread to illustrate my use case: #!/usr/bin/env python from twisted.internet import reactor, threads from twisted.internet.task import LoopingCall import time def main_loop(): print 'doing stuff in main loop.. do not block me!' def aBlockingRedisCall(): print 'doing lookup... this may take a while' time.sleep(10) return 'results from redis' def result(res): print res def main(): lc = LoopingCall(main_loop) lc.start(2) d = threads.deferToThread(aBlockingRedisCall) d.addCallback(result) reactor.run() if __name__=='__main__': main() And here is my alteration for connection pooling that makes the code in the deferred thread blocking : #!/usr/bin/env python from twisted.internet import reactor, defer from twisted.internet.task import LoopingCall import time def main_loop(): print 'doing stuff in main loop.. do not block me!' def aBlockingRedisCall(x): if x<5: #all connections are busy, try later print '%s is less than 5, get a redis client later' % x x+=1 d = defer.Deferred() d.addCallback(aBlockingRedisCall) reactor.callLater(1.0,d.callback,x) return d else: print 'got a redis client; doing lookup.. this may take a while' time.sleep(10) # this is now blocking.. any ideas? d = defer.Deferred() d.addCallback(gotFinalResult) d.callback(x) return d def gotFinalResult(x): return 'final result is %s' % x def result(res): print res def aBlockingMethod(): print 'going to sleep...' time.sleep(10) print 'woke up' def main(): lc = LoopingCall(main_loop) lc.start(2) d = defer.Deferred() d.addCallback(aBlockingRedisCall) d.addCallback(result) reactor.callInThread(d.callback, 1) reactor.run() if __name__=='__main__': main() So my question is, does anyone know why my alteration causes the deferred thread to be blocking and/or can anyone suggest a better solution?

  • How to read direct3d texture pixels

    - by Mr Bell
So I have a x8r8g8b8 formatted IDirect3DSurface9 that contains the contents of the back buffer. When I call LockRect on it I get access to a struct containing pBits, a pointer to the pixels I assume, and and integer Pitch (which I am very unclear about its purpose). How to read the individual pixels? Visual Studio 2008 C++

  • Add stacktrace to every log in log4net

    - by tiagodias
Hi all... I'm using Log4Net to log a multilayered enterprise application. I know that when i log with exception Log4Net automatically exposes the exception StackTarce, but i want to log the stacktrace for every log even if those are not exception throws. Why i need that?... Simply, i want to know the call origin of the log (drilldown the layers...) Thank all... Tiago Dias

  • How do I programmatically convert mp3 to an itunes-playable aac/m4a file?

    - by kwork
I've been looking for a way to convert an mp3 to aac programmatically or via the command line with no luck. Ideally, I'd have a snippet of code that I could call from my rails app that converts an mp3 to an aac. I installed ffmpeg and libfaac and was able to create an aac file with the following command: ffmpeg -i test.mp3 -acodec libfaac -ab 163840 dest.aac When i change the output file's name to dest.m4a, it doesn't play in iTunes. Thanks!

  • TCP/UDP and ethernet MTU Fragmentation

    - by Fantastic Fourier
I've read various sites and tutorials online but I am still confused. If the message is bigger than IP MTU, then send() returns the byte sent. What happens to the rest of the message? Am I to call send() again and attempt to send rest of the message? Or is that something IP layer should take care of automatically?

  • How to generate a unified diff in Ruby?

    - by jstayton
After reading through this question about Ruby diff packages, I'm still not sure how to generate a unified diff from two text files. I'm not having trouble reading each file into a string (IO.read()), but I'm not finding any package that can generate a unified diff. Does one exist? Is doing a system call to diff even an option I should consider? (I'm thinking no.) Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

  • PHP: variable-length argument list by reference?

    - by GetFree
Is it possible to create a PHP function that takes a variable number of parameters all of them by reference? It doesn't help me a function that receives by reference an array of values nor a function that takes its arguments wrapped in an object because I'm working on function composition and argument binding. Don't think about call-time pass-by-reference either. That thing shouldn't even exist.

  • retrieving information from web service calls

    - by Monte Chan
    Hi all, I am trying to retrieve information from a web service call. The following is what I have so far. In my text view, it is showing Map {item=anyType{key=TestKey; value=2;}; item=anyType{key=TestField; value=adsfasd; };} When I ran that in the debugger, I can see the information above in the variable, tempvar. But the question is, how do I retrieve the information (i.e. the actual values of "key" and "value" in each of the array positions)? Yes, I know there is a lot going on in onCreate and I will fix it later. Thanks in advance, Monte My codes are as follows, import java.util.Vector; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.widget.TextView; import org.ksoap2.SoapEnvelope; import org.ksoap2.serialization.SoapObject; import org.ksoap2.serialization.SoapSerializationEnvelope; import org.ksoap2.transport.AndroidHttpTransport; public class ViewHitUpActivity extends Activity { private static final String SOAP_ACTION = "test_function"; private static final String METHOD_NAME = "test_function"; private static final String NAMESPACE = "http://www.monteandjanicechan.com/"; private static final String URL = "http://www.monteandjanicechan.com/ws/test_ws.cfc?wsdl"; // private Object resultRequestSOAP = null; private TextView tv; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); SoapObject request = new SoapObject(NAMESPACE, METHOD_NAME); tv = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.people_view); //SoapObject request.addProperty("test_item", "1"); SoapSerializationEnvelope envelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER11); envelope.setOutputSoapObject(request); AndroidHttpTransport androidHttpTransport = new AndroidHttpTransport(URL); try { androidHttpTransport.call(SOAP_ACTION, envelope); /* resultRequestSOAP = envelope.getResponse(); Vector tempResult = (Vector) resultRequestSOAP("test_functionReturn"); */ SoapObject resultsRequestSOAP = (SoapObject) envelope.bodyIn; Vector tempResult = (Vector) resultsRequestSOAP.getProperty("test_functionReturn"); int testsize = tempResult.size(); // SoapObject test = (SoapObject) tempResult.get(0); //String[] results = (String[]) resultRequestSOAP; Object tempvar = tempResult.elementAt(1); tv.setText(tempvar.toString()); } catch (Exception aE) { aE.printStackTrace (); tv.setText(aE.getClass().getName() + ": " + aE.getMessage()); } } }

  • Why should I not wrap every block in "try"-"catch"?

    - by Konrad
I have always been of the belief that if a method can throw an exception then it is reckless not to protect this call with a meaningful try block. I just posted 'You should ALWAYS wrap calls that can throw in try, catch blocks.' to this question and was told that it was 'remarkably bad advice' - I'd like to understand why. Thanks!

  • iPhone: How to purge a cached UITableViewCell

    - by iPhone dev
iPhone SDK question: Does anyone have suggestions on how to purge a cached UITableViewCell I'd like to cache these cells with reuseIdentifier. However, there are times when I need to delete or modify some of the table rows. I expect to call reloadData after the row changes. Right now, dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier always returns the cached(obsolete) entry from before. How do I indicate that the cache is stale and needs to be purged ?

  • Testing Rails Metal With Cucumber/rSpec

    - by nkabbara
Hi, I'm trying to stub a third party service that my metal talks to. It seems rspec mocks/stubs don't extend all the way to the Metal. When I call stubbed methods on objects, it calls the original one and not the stubbed one. Any idea of how I can have rSpec doubles extend all the way to the metal? Thanks. -Nash

  • Cannot run public class in one .java from another

    - by DIOS
I have created a basic program that takes whatever is input into two textfields and exports them to a file. I would now like to encrypt that file, and alredy have the encryptor. The problem is that I cannot call it. Here is my code for the encryptor: import java.io.File; import java.io.FileInputStream; import java.io.FileOutputStream; import java.io.*; import javax.crypto.Cipher; import javax.crypto.CipherInputStream; import javax.crypto.CipherOutputStream; import javax.crypto.spec.SecretKeySpec; public class FileEncryptor { private String algo; private File file; public FileEncryptor(String algo,String path) { this.algo=algo; //setting algo this.file=new File(path); //settong file } public void encrypt() throws Exception{ //opening streams FileInputStream fis =new FileInputStream(file); file=new File(file.getAbsolutePath()); FileOutputStream fos =new FileOutputStream(file); //generating key byte k[] = "HignDlPs".getBytes(); SecretKeySpec key = new SecretKeySpec(k,algo.split("/")[0]); //creating and initialising cipher and cipher streams Cipher encrypt = Cipher.getInstance(algo); encrypt.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, key); CipherOutputStream cout=new CipherOutputStream(fos, encrypt); byte[] buf = new byte[1024]; int read; while((read=fis.read(buf))!=-1) //reading data cout.write(buf,0,read); //writing encrypted data //closing streams fis.close(); cout.flush(); cout.close(); } public static void main (String[] args)throws Exception { new FileEncryptor("DES/ECB/PKCS5Padding","C:\\Users\\*******\\Desktop\\newtext").encrypt();//encrypts the current file. } } Here is the section of my file creator that is failing to call this: FileWriter fWriter = null; BufferedWriter writer = null; try{ fWriter = new FileWriter("C:\\Users\\*******\\Desktop\\newtext"); writer = new BufferedWriter(fWriter); writer.write(Data); writer.close(); f.dispose(); FileEncryptor encr = new FileEncryptor(); //problem lies here. encr.encrypt //public void that does the encryption. new complete(); //different .java that is working fine.
