  • Telnet or SSH to Embedded Linux based NAS?

    - by ef2011
Do you happen to know whether it is possible to telnet or SSH to LG N1A1DD1 NAS? It seems to have lots of features that I don't need (including FTP) but I couldn't find any mention of the ability to telnet or SSH to it. If telneting or SSH-ing to it isn't possible, do you know whether it is possible to configure via its web interface a script that can periodically back it up via its USB port? (while still functioning as NAS, of course)

  • Log calls to systemd on openSUSE 12.1

    - by DavisNT
On one server running openSUSE 12.1 (upgraded from 11.x) time to time OpenLDAP service stops. According to logs something/someone stops it using systemd API (the API that systemctl command uses), but probably without calling any command line (for OpenLDAP systemd calls /etc/init.d/ldap, we have added ps fax >> /var/log/stopped_ldap to it, we see that the script gets called, but don't see it's caller nor anything calling systemctl). How to enable logging of systemd calls and callers to pinpoint what exactly is stopping OpenLDAP.

  • (Ubuntu) setuid bash doesn't work

    - by ???
Here is the code: (root:) # mkdir /test # cp /bin/bash /test/sbash # chmod a+s /test/sbash (user1:) $ cd /test $ ./sbash $ mkdir trycreate mkdir: cannot create directory `trycreate': Permission denied And bash scripts with setuid bit set not work, either. By the way, my setuid perl script works: test.pl: (with setuid bit set, owner=root) #!/usr/bin/perl mkdir('/test/tryperlcreate') or die 'failed'; execute test.pl by user1 will create the directory owned by root.

  • Seeting up DKIM DNS records from an existing certificate

    - by jneves
I have successfully setup DKIM with dkimproxy with a self-signed certificate. Now I want to use an existing X.509 certificate. The script that comes with dkimproxy on Ubuntu to generate the DNS records results in the following broken information (only the start): postfix._domainkey IN TXT "k=rsa; p=-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- MIIHCDCCBfCgAwIBAgICP4AwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEFBQAwgYwxCzAJBgNVBAYTAklM MRYwFAYDVQQKEw1TdGFydENvbSBMdG This seems broken to me but I haven't found: what's the format the public.key should be for dkimproxy? how to extract that information from the certificate file?

  • Automatically enable Xcode "Developer Mode" on computer lab workstations

    - by smokris
After reimaging a computer lab workstation, the first time a user tries to build and run an Xcode 4 application, Xcode pops up the "Enable 'Developer Mode' on this Mac?" prompt, requesting an administrator password. How can I automate this process (via a script), so that I don't have to go around to every workstation, create a new Xcode project, build and run it, and enter the admin password each time the workstations are reimaged?

Hi, I've recently switched to roaming profiles in an XP and Windows 7 environment and also changed the login script. Can anyone tell me where I would find the info regarding messages that appear when people are launching various in-house apps : This program is from an untrusted location, Click Run or Cancel. The programs run but users need to click 'Run' first. Thanks Scott

  • confused about variables in bash

    - by gappy
I know that variables in bash have no type, but am confused about the value they are assigned. The following simple script works fine in bash #!/bin/bash tail -n +2 /cygdrive/c/workdir\ \(newco\,\ LLC\)/workfile.txt > \ /cygdrive/c/workdir\ \(newco\,\ LLC\)/workfile2.txt However, the following does not #!/bin/bash tmpdir=/cygdrive/c/workdir\ \(newco\,\ LLC\) tail -n +2 $tmpdir/workfile.txt > $tmpdir/workfile2.txt Is there an explanation for this behavior?

  • Fedora distribution update pop-up after fresh installation

    - by Sayan Ghosh
Hi, We do a kickstart installation of FC-10 at our place. I am quite intimidated by the distribution update pop up that comes up after the O/S installation. I want a keyword to put into the kickstart file that would stop Fedora from intimating with an update pop-up. Is it possible to include such a switch in the kickstart OR a script that could be added to post.bash? Thanks, Sayan

  • How do I make mailto: links open gmail in Ubuntu?

    - by Matthew
I've tried using this How-To Geek guide, but it doesn't work. Running the script from the terminal works (although I had to change its permissions first), but clicking on a mailto: link does nothing. Note: I am using the Chromium Daily Builds for my browser. I would mailto: links in all applications to point to gmail, not just the ones that I click on in my browser.

    - by StackedCrooked
I would like to create a small script that installs a few truetype fonts on the user's system. On my Ubuntu machine the truetype fonts are located at /usr/share/fonts/truetype. However, I'm not sure if this location is the same on all machines. Is there a way to find out where truetypes fonts are stored on any Linux system?

  • Header precendence: Apache Vs. PHP specific to cache-control & expires

    - by David
My companies production dynamic web servers ( Apache + PHP 5.1x) are using the Apache expires module and there is a clause inside http.conf as follows: <FilesMatch ".+"> ExpiresActive On ExpiresDefault "A0" </FilesMatch> If I were to set inside a php script "Cache-Control" and "Expires", would it get eaten by this clause? Normally I would test this on my own but having trouble convincing the Expires module to function on my workstation and the company Admin's are down at the data-center.
