I have web application running in jboss 4.0.2 and it has older java 5 version, is this new update causing possible security flaws in my web application server?
People who use OpenDNS and go to a non-existing domain are getting a nice fancy search page telling them that the domain doesn't exists instead of the browser error page.
Here in my home network we have a Windows 2008 R2 server with the DNS role enabled.
Is there any way to make my own fancy looking error page to show up at all computers when they enter a domain not found by the local DNS server and the forwarders / root hints servers?
Windows 7 64 bit.
The only recent change was I installed two updates for MS Office, and a cumulative security update for IE.
As soon as I choose a user and login, after loading my user profile it states the preparing your desktop message, and then powers off.
I have used DaRT to check the event log, but nothing is recorded.
Ideas?
I have recently been doing a lot of updates to our network drive permissions... such as consolidating direct user permissions into group permissions. The built-in ACL editor (Advanced Security Settings dialog) is adequate, but its limitations are frustrating, particularly that it cannot be resized and you cannot look at the list of existing entries at the same time as you are adding a new entry.
Is there an improved ACL editor that can be downloaded to supplement the default one?
I have installed IIS and .NET 4.0 on Windows Server 2003.
I have a web ready website that that targets .NET 4.0 and have updated the default website home directory to map to the website's directory.
When I visit the website in a web browser (localhost, localhost:80), I get a 404 error (File or directory not found).
Here is the IP address so you can see for yourself. http://72.45.244.92/
How do I get my ASP.NET 4.0 website to run?
I have tried using Multirow Bookmarks Toolbar Plus and Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar Firefox add-ons, but the problem is that they are constantly stressing my CPU (even when idling). It probably has something to do with version 11 of the browser. Anyway, is there some clean way to increase the height of the bookmarks toolbar?
I've read a lot of articles that refer to userChrome.css and I have tried a dozen solutions, but none worked because they were outdated. Please help me with this.
I can make a single SSL certificate for several different domain names:
www1.example.com
www2.example.com
www3.example.com
But *.example.com doesn't work.
How can I make a single SSL certificate for all sub domains within .example.com?
P.S. Here is the extension part of the generated certificate:
X509v3 extensions:
X509v3 Basic Constraints:
CA:FALSE
X509v3 Key Usage:
Digital Signature, Non Repudiation, Key Encipherment
X509v3 Subject Alternative Name:
DNS:*.example.com
It's simply not matched by any sub-domain under example.com by the browser.
I want to backup my AWS snapshots to a completely separate AWS account for additional security (if my AWS credentials were acquired someone could delete all my snapshots and volumes). But I'm a bit stumped on how to do this.
There doesn't seem to be a way to store a volume or snapshot in S3 such that another user could access that data in s3 and store it in a separate AWS account.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to acheive this?
Thanks
I read about FHS, and I started to consider the file system of wikipedia. On the one hand, I feel it is a security risk to let everyone know it. On the other hand, it is necessary for developers. For example, is there some rule to know where are all sitemaps and their indices located? So:
How is the file system of Wikipedia
designed?
I have a linux webhosting server which affects a high DDOS.
I want to use Cisco ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security Appliances to protect the linux server from this DDOS. I know there are many factors should you know before you choose the suitable hardware firewall like the amount of this DDOS and pps ..etc
Please suggest a linux tools to measure those factors and to help me collect the required informations ( pps - amount of DDOS - concurrent connections and other factors )
Regards,
I'm profiling a database just now and need to see the UPDATE and INSERT statements being executed on a particular table.
However, because the table has a 'Password' column the SQL Profiler is being understandingly cautious and replacing the TextData column with:
-- 'password' was found in the text of this event.
-- The text has been replaced with this comment for security reasons.
How do I prevent it doing this because I need to see the SQL statement being executed?
I have an FTP connection active through the Map Network Drive option in Windows 7 64-bit.
When navigating the remote directory, I see no way to edit files. Windows is completely ignoring file-type associations and "opens" everything with my default browser.
Is there any way that I can simply edit these files?
I'm open to suggestions of other software as well, but from what I can see, NetDrive doesn't work with 64-bit.
Is there some tool within Opera, or possibly an add-on, which will let me take a screenshot of an entire web page? I usually use Screengrab to do this with Firefox, but in this situation I want a screenshot of the page as Opera renders it (because I want to show the page as rendered with HTML5 form controls like date and time).
I am currently using Opera 10.60 x86_64 on Fedora 12, so solutions that work in browser would be preferable rather than external programs.
Hi, i have a problem with Firefox autocomplete in login forms. When i enter a password and a username for the first time it asks me if i want to remember them, i click on "remember" and it saves the data, but when i log out and then return to the login page it shows me nothing. The password is autocompleted only after i enter the username. Is there a way to do the autocomplete immediately like in any other browser?
When I look at a story on Slashdot, I see a side-bar that sits constantly in the upper-left corner. Every time I open a story, I have to click on the "slash" sign in its upper-right corner.
How can I disable it, so it will always have css position absolute, relative or static? Is there an option for it? Because I find it is slowing my browser down when I am scrolling the page.
Thank you,
Tom

Is there something which may:
Play music, at the very least in MP3-format
Play video in various codec's
Helps in recording video of shows from TV through a TV-in card
Helps in organizing music and videos
Works with a keyboard and mouse
Additional pluses are:
If it also is possible to browse the web through it, or at least start the web browser
Has some games. Maybe through MAME or some other emulation like SNES or something.
If it's also possible to control it through a game pad.
I Installed wamp in windows 7 pro, and copied a joomla live site. Everything seems working well except that it doesn't load the images on the page.
Even when I try to access in directly:
localhost/logo.png
Im getting an 403 Forbidden:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /logo.png on this server.
Solutions I have tried are:
Using icacls to grant priviledge
Folder Permissions Issue in Windows 7
manually set the permission by right clicking the image and editing the security.
I am trying to debug a simple web service. I have IIS 7 installed on my development machine (Windows 7), and have installed the web service. I can access it from my development machine, but not from any other machine in the local network.I opened the firewall to HTTP access, and I can access the default website from other machines, so it is not the firewall. What security settings should I look at to try to allow devices on the LAN to access the web service?
Hi,
On my Ubuntu HOST I have my local webserver.
I installed VirtualBox and Debian as a GUEST.
I would like Debian guest to be able to hit my webserver running on my Ubuntu host (for example, I just type http://localhost:8080/ in the browser under Debian).
How can this be done?
Thanks in advance.

I recently started using Firefox as my primary web browser, and I would like to change some of the default keyboard shortcuts, especially the ones used to switch between tabs. Can this be done?
I took a peek through the Firefox directory in "Application Support", as well as the application bundle itself, but nothing jumped out. Google searches have also proved fruitless.
Any help is appreciated!
Update: I'm running Firefox version 3.6 for Mac OS 10.6.2
I am using snmpd on CentOS 6.3 and was giving a network range to the source for mapping community to security group.
com2sec mynetwork 192.168.0.0/23 centreon
Anyhow it is not working and I always get a timeout from the polling server.
When I enter the exact ip of the polling server it works (192.168.3.180)
It even works if I enter the whole netmask (255.255.252.0)
Anyhow it should work according to documentation. Did I do anything wrong?
I have a VPS, until now I used the default root user for SSH access and everything. For security reasons I'd like to use a different user for root, terminal access and sudo operations. So I created another user, gave him the sudo and every other perm.
The problem is that all the system files belongs to root. What happens if I set PermitRootLogin No for root? Those files wouldn't be editable by the new root user!
