• ASP.NET MVC2: Client-side validation not working with Start.js

  Ok, this is strange. I would hope it's something I'm doing wrong and not that MS has two technologies that simply don't work together. (UPDATE: See bottom of post for Script tag order in HEAD section) I'm trying to use the dataView template and client-side validation. If I include a reference to: <script src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/beta/0911/Start.js" type="text/javascript"></script> by itself, the dataview template works fine. but if I put in the following references: <script src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery.validate/1.7/jquery.validate.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Scripts/MicrosoftMvcAjax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Scripts/MicrosoftMvcValidation.js" type="text/javascript"></script> then I get the following error: > Error: Type._registerScript is not a > function Source File: > http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/beta/0911/MicrosoftAjaxTemplates.js > Line: 1 and: > Error: Sys.get("$listings") is null > Source File: > http://localhost:12370/Listings Line: > 76 Here's the code calling the dataview: $(document).ready(function () { LoadMap(); Sys.require([Sys.components.dataView, Sys.scripts.jQuery], function() { $("#listings").dataView(); Sys.get("$listings").set_data(listings.Data); updateMap(listings.Data); }); }); I would really appreciate any help with this one. • Maintaining ISAPI Rewrite Path with the ASP.NET tilde (~)

  My team is upgrading from ASP.NET 3.5 to ASP.NET 4.0. We are currently using Helicon ISAPI Rewrite to map http://localhost/<account-name>/default.aspx to http://localhost/<virtual-directory>/default.aspx?AccountName=<account-name> where <account-name> is a query string variable and <virtual-directory> is a virtual directory (naturally). Before the upgrade the tilde (~) resolved to http://localhost/<account-name>/... (which I want it to do) and after the upgrade the tilde resolves to http://localhost/<virtual-directory>/... which results in an error because the <account-name> query string is required. I'd like to avoid going down the road of replacing everything with relative paths because there are several features in our system that use the entire URL instead of just the relative path. For what it's worth I'm using IIS7 in Windows 7, Visual Studio 2010 with ASP.NET 4.0 and the 64 bit Helicon ISAPI Rewrite. If I switch back to the ASP.NET 3.5 version then it still works fine (leading me to believe nothing changed in IIS unless it's within the 4.0 app pool - when I switch back and forth between 3.5 and 4.0 I have to change the app pool in IIS). • Good DB Migrations for CakePHP?

  Hi, I have been trying a few migration scripts for CakePHP but I ran into problems with all of the in some form or another. Please advice me on a migration option for Cake that you use live and know works. I'd like the following "features": -Support CakePHP 1.2(e.g. CakeDCs migrations will only be an option when 1.3 is stable and my app migrated to the new codebase) -Support for (or at least not halt on) Models with a different database config. -Support Models in sub-folders of app/models -Support Models in plugins -Support tables that do not conform to Cake conventions (I have a few special tables that do not have a single primary key field and need to keep them) -Plays well with automated deployment via Capistrano and Git. I do not need rails-style versioned files a git versioned schema file that is compared live to the existing schema will do. That is: I like the SchemaShell in Cake apart from it not being compatible with most of my requirements above. • System.Windows.Ria.Controls and POCO

  I'm trying to figure out how to use POCO for silverlight use. I found an article that appears it will step me through the basics. However, it has in it a reference to the System.Windows.Ria.Controls. i don't have that on my machine.. i found System.Windows.Ria but not one that has teh control on it. I just downloaded teh RIA beta today and installed it.. so should have the latest and greatest. Anyway.. • Problems compiling peazip on OSX

  I'm having some problems with compiling Peazip on OSX (10.6). I emailed the Peazip developer and he said he probably couldn't help me too much as the error seems to be OSX specific and he doesn't have access to an OSX machine any more. The compiler I'm using is Lazarus as the source is in Pascal. The actual compile process seems to go ok, but when I run the peazip.app program launcher, I get the following error: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/thegooddale/Screen-shot-2010-05-22-at-71907-PM.png Here is the app launcher that the compile made: http://forboden.com/coding/peazip.app.zip - you can use an unzip program to look at the files inside (i.e. unzip it twice).   Given a resource dictionary loading some static resources into memory - is there any way to iterate through theResources loaded into memory? My silverlight application keeps telling me it cannot find a static resource. I wonder if I have a naming convention issue or somehting - was hoping iterating through the resources in memory would help diagnose any issue... • How do I specify a crossdomain policy file to allow Flash to grab a bitmap from an RTMP (Wowza) vide

  I'm trying to get a bitmap/snapshot of a Wowza video stream playing on my client, like so: var bitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(view.videoPlayerComponent.width, view.videoPlayerComponent.height); bitmapData.draw(view.videoPlayerComponent); When I do this, I get this error message: SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: http://localhost:51150/Resources/WRemoteWebCam.swf cannot access rtmp://localhost/videochat/smithkl42._default/. No policy files granted access. I presume the error comes from not being able to locate the appropriate crossdomain.xml file. I'm not quite sure where it's looking for it, and a wireshark sniff was inconclusive, so I've tried placing one in each of the following places: http://localhost/crossdomain.xml http://localhost:1935/crossdomain.xml http://localhost:51150/crossdomain.xml I can retrieve the file successfully from each of those three locations. (I'm pretty sure that the last one wouldn't have any effect, since it's just the location of the web site which hosts the page that hosts the .swf file, but on the off chance...) These are the contents of the file that it's grabbing in each instance: <cross-domain-policy> <allow-access-from domain="*" to-ports="*" /> </cross-domain-policy> And it's still throwing that same error message.   I'm trying to do xpath queries over an xhtml document. The document looks like this: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head> .... </head> <body> ... </body> </html> Because the document includes various char entities (&nbsp; and so on), I need to use the DTD, in order to load it with an XmlReader. So my code looks like this: var reader = XmlReader.Create(sr, new XmlReaderSettings { ProhibitDtd = false }); But when I run this, it returns An error has occurred while opening external DTD 'http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1-transitional.dtd': The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable. Now, I know why I am getting the 503 error. W3C explained it very clearly. But I still want to validate the document. How can I validate with the DTD, and get the entity definitions, without hitting the w3.org website? related: - java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 503

• Mercurial Remote Subrepos

  I'm trying to set up my Mercurial repository system to work with multiple subrepos. I've basically followed these instructions to set up the client repo with Mercurial client v1.5 and I'm using HgWebDir to host my multiple projects. I have an HgWebDir with the following structure: http://myserver/hg fooproj mylib where mylib is some collection of common template library to be consumed by fooproj. The structure of fooproj looks like this: fooproj doc/ src/ .hgignore .hgsub .hgsubstate And .hgsub looks like: src/mylib = http://myserver/hg/mylib This should work, per my interpretation of the documentation: The first 'nested' is the path in our working dir, and the second is a URL or path to pull from. So, let's say I pull down fooproj to my home folder with: ~$ hg clone http://myserver/hg/fooproj foo Which pulls down the directory structure properly and adds the folder ~/foo/src/mylib which is a local Mercurial repository. This is where the problems begin: the mylib folder is empty aside from the items in .hg. With 2 seconds of investigation, one can see the src/mylib/.hg/hgrc is: [paths] default = http://myserver/hg/fooproj/src/mylib which is completely wrong (attempting a pull of that repo will give a 404 because, well, that URL doesn't make any sense). Logically, the default value should be what I specified in .hgsub or it would get the files from the repository in some way. None of the Mercurial commands return error codes (aside from a pull from within src/mylib), so it clearly believes that it is behaving properly (and just might be), although this does not seem logical at all. What am I doing wrong?

• Help with route rewrite in asp.net mvc

  Im having a really hard time understanding routing. Please help me with this problem. Each of my controllers have these three actions right now Users have Index, Create and Edit Locations have Index, Create and Edit Companies have Index, Create and Edit The thing is, it all gets done through ajax. I have jquery ui tabs with two tabs for each, Create and Edit So the Index method is always the one that gets called for action links. and inside this main view is that you can call(by clicking on the tab icon) the other methods that return an ajax view that gets output into the jqeury tab (I hope thats clear) I have a sidebar with links to the controllers. and to specific methods of these controllers. The wanted behavior is that it should actually go into the Index Method and then with some logic autoload the wanted tab. It all works just fine right now. But my urls are horrible. To get to the create method for Users I have to go this url http://localhost/Users/Index/1 http://localhost/Users/Index/2 I want the behavior of these links to be remapped to these links http://localhost/Users/Create http://localhost/Users/Edit So even though it seems as if you are calling the Create method of the controller you are actualling always calling the Index Method.... (I know how to transform Create into "1" and Edit into two, so dont worry about that part Hope thats clear. Thanks in advance Edit: Just realized that this might not be possible cause then when I actually need to call the methods (with ajax) it wont know what to do.... am I correct?

  SharePoint is generally very tolerant of accepting a URL in a case-insensitive fashion, however there are a few cases where it completely breaks down.   I have two documents that I need to merge, that happen in a way that I don't seem to be able to find covered in other examples. Namely, that it needs to match not only on a node's attribute at one level, but also on the value of an attribute a node level below that, to get that node's value.   Hi All, We are launching a new REST API and I wanted some community input on best practices around how we should have input parameters formatted: Right now, our API is very JSON-centric (only returns JSON). The debate of whether we want/need to return XML is a separate issue. As our API output is JSON centric, we have been going down a path where our inputs are a bit JSON centric and I've been thinking that may be convenient for some but weird in general. For example, to get a few product details where multiple products can be pulled at once we currently have: http://our.api.com/Product?id=["101404","7267261"] Should we simplify this as: http://our.api.com/Product?id=101404,7267261 Or is having JSON input handy? More of a pain? We may want to accept both styles but does that flexibility actually cause more confusion and head aches (maintainability, documentation, etc.)? A more complex case is when we want to offer more complex inputs. For example, if we want to allow multiple filters on search: http://our.api.com/Search?term=pumas&filters={"productType":["Clothing","Bags"],"color":["Black","Red"]} We don't necessarily want to put the filter types (e.g. productType and color) as request names like this: http://our.api.com/Search?term=pumas&productType=["Clothing","Bags"]&color=["Black","Red"] Because we wanted to group all filter input together. In the end, does this really matter? It may be likely that there are so many JSON utils out there that the input type just doesn't matter that much.   With the Zend Framework, I am trying to build routes for a REST api on resources organized in the following pattern: http://example.org/users/ http://example.org/users/234 http://example.org/users/234/items http://example.org/users/234/items/34 How do I set up this with Zend_Rest_Route? Here is how I have setup the route for the users resource (users/:id) in my bootstrap.php file: $this->bootstrap('frontController'); $frontController = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance(); $restRoute = new Zend_Rest_Route($frontController); $frontController->getRouter()->addRoute('default', $restRoute); [As far as I understand, this is a catch all route so users/324/items/34 would results in parameters set as id=324 and items=34 and everything would be mapped to the Users (front module) Model. From there I guess I could just test for the items parameter and retrieve the item #34 for user #324 on a get request.]<=== I just checked it and it doesn't seems to work like that: Acessing /users/234/items/43 and var_dump($this->_getAllParams()); in the get action of the rest controller results in the following output: array(4) { ["controller"]=> string(5) "users" ["action"]=> string(3) "get" [2]=> string(5) "items" ["module"]=> string(7) "default"] } Somehow both ids got lost... Anyone?

GoDaddy allows you to setup a 404 in their control panel, but I can't override this, or setup any additional error redirects, specifically a 500-server error. • WCF ReliableMessaging method called twice

  Using Fiddler, we see 3 HTTP requests (and matching responses) for each call when: WS-ReliableMessaging is enabled, and, the method returns a large amount of data (17MB) The first HTTP request is a SOAP message with the action "CreateSequence" (presumable to establish the reliable session). The second and third HTTP requests are identical SOAP messages invoking our webservice method. Why are there two identical messages?
