    One of the affiliate networks provides a feed with the following time/date format. <startDate>1349992800000</startDate> <endDate>1355266799999</endDate> My problem is I am trying to convert this to a MYSQL format, I have tried mktime and strtotime with no luck the date seems to come out wrong. I know this is the time since the Equinox, I am just not sure how to convert this to a MYSQL format.

  • Minimize the chance my email is blocked/filtered as spam

    I'm running a web-based store where order confirmations are sometimes blocked and don't reach the intended user. The structure of the business model is such that our product is marketed to the end-user by a 3rd parities - affiliates how are known entities to the end-users and email is freely exchanged between end-users and our affiliates. Our confirmations being blocked is becoming a big enough problem that we are considering implementing a system where a 'confirmations' address is created within the affiliates domain, then we'd have our app send via the affiliate's mail server instead of our own. But that'd be lots of work. The idea has been raised to have our app use our affiliates' email in the FROM field but still send from our server. My thinking is that would be detected at the end-users side and blocked just as often - we dealing with institutions large enough at least some checks up at the perimeter. Is this assumption correct (more likely to be blocked) or is there a less round about way to send messages under the auspices of 3rd parties? thx

  • .htaccess redirect for www in parent folder and children react

    We were having a problem with the Norton seal not showing up on our affiliate marketing landing pages (landers). Turns out, the Norton seal was super picky about the "www." prefix. I had folder paths like /lp/cmpx where x was a number 1-100 and indicated advertising campaign number. So, to remedy this, I stuck this in my .htaccess file right after the RewriteEngine On line: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example\.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/lp/cmp1/$1 [R=302,QSA,NC,L] Trouble is, I had to do that under every campaign folder, changing cmp1 to whatever the folder name was. Therefore, my question is... Is there a way I can do this with an .htaccess file under the parent folder (/lp in this case) and it will work for each of the children? EDIT: Note that I stuck an .htaccess file in /lp just now to test: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example\.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/lp/$1 [R=302,QSA,NC,L] This yielded no effect to the /lp/cmpx folders underneath, to my dismay.

    IIS7.x on a win08 web version on a dedicated server. I have a site that's serving a few dozen affiliates - many of which are hitting me via a subdomain from their own root domain - all of which have a subdomain specific to their account. E.G. my affiliate named 'Acme' hits my site via: myApp.Acme.com (his root, my app) Acme.MyDomain.com (his account within my root domain) Currently I'm adding each of these as a binding entry in IIS (targeting a discrete IP, not '*'). As I ramp this up to include more affiliates I'm wondering if I should be concerned about how many binding this site handles. Proabaly, in Acme's case I can do without the 'Acme.MyDomain.com' because, in reality, all traffic takes place via myApp.Acme.com. Mine is a niche site - very volume compared to most. At what point do I worry about all those bindings? thx

  • How can I access an Apple Xserve with no I/O ports

    I have an Apple Xserve at my place of employment, that I stumbled across one day going through some old equipment. The Xserve has one card installed on it, being the NIC, and is labelled with the static IP adresses that it has assigned, but other than that it is totally 'headless'. I would like to put it to use ( by either rolling it over to a Linux, or Windows Server 08 environment... 0_o ) but have yet to figure out how to get into the system to manage it. I'm a frequent at StackOverflow, but this is my first SuperUser post, so please let me know if this should be on one of the affiliate sites.

Argument: I found that delicious.com belonged to the same category as my to-be website. It served premium delicious dishes. Counter Argument: My to-be domain though belonging to the same category, specialized in serving free but delicious dishes or in giving out links(affiliate) to other sites serving premium delicious dishes. Additional Counter Arguments: 1.delicious.com was not in English. 2.the del.icio.us in my domain name though having the same spelling, is not going to be used in the same fashion. For eg.(this may not make sense, because the names have been changed)the d in delicious on my website actually stands for the greek letter Delta(?/d) and since internationalized domains are still not easily typable, I am going for the english equivalent.The prefix holds importance for the theme of the service which my website intends to offer. My Question: Can I use the domain name del.icio.us for my website? How are these kinds of matters dealt? (The domain names used are fictitious. And I have already registered the domain but have not started using it.I chanced upon this domain name because it was short, easy to remember and suited the theme of my website.)

  • Can One Get a Solid Programming Foundation Without Going To College/University?

    First, I have already searched the site and read all the previous "self-taught vs. college" topics. The majority of the answers defended that going to college was the best choice, for two main reasons: Going to college gives you the paper, which is essential to landing jobs, especially in tough economic times. Going to college gives you a solid programming base, teaching you the principles that will be essential regardless of the language/path you take after. Here comes my question: I am not worried about reason 1 at all, because I already have my own company (I build websites/ do affiliate marketing) and a stable financial situation, so I am pretty sure I won't need to look around for a job. I am worried about reason 2 though. That is, I want to make sure I'll have as solid a programming foundation as anyone else out there, and I am wondering if that is possible with self-learning. Suppose I take my time to study the very basics, like discrete maths, algorithm design, programming logic, computer architecture, Assembly, C programming, databases and data structures - mostly using books,online resources and lots of coding. Say I spend 1-2 years covering those basics. Do you think my foundation would be solid, or still lack in comparison to someone who went to college?

    I've developed a site that serves pure HTML Weather widgets (and they are great looking too). Just after two months I am generating 1.25K hits monthly (Google Analytics). Now I want to generate some money out of it. You can check my service out on Here . I am looking for affiliate or an Ads service that can I can hookup within but there is a twist in story. I want single liner text Ad in a particular location otherwise widgets will look rubbish, see this snapshot: Plus I have some unique places in my site to place some banner ads as well, Here are existing set of services that I've already tried: Ad Sense, doesn't allow or have such formats of methods. Peefly provides you with straight links works best but I recorded some clicks (Through Google Events) and they didn't show me any, plus it introduces overhead of manually going and choosing your links. BidVertise totally rubbish opens popups and what not, makes site look like spam I am new to this ad stuff so have a limited knowledge. Suggestions please?     I have seen some sites using a different kind of SEO to promote copyrighted materials such as movies. They also have submitted their site to Google webmaster tools but still now did not get banned. Their Alexa ranks are 7000 or less. On the other hand I have run 5 movie affiliate sites and all of them got banned by Google within a short period of time. I have copied the url of the homepage of solarmovie.me and pasted it on the google search and instead of the homepage url I have seen that their category or tag shows as the homepage (www.solarmovie.me/watch-category/hollyw... Now is solarmovie.me publishing its posts as a single page or something else? I tried to find out what kind of SEO or coding that was, but I couldn't since I have very little knowledge about coding. Also I have seen the same thing with ALLUC.TO in google search (www.alluc.to/popular-links.html). Could anyone please help with the SEO of this kind so that I don't get banned by google frequently or index removed. All SEO webmaster i need your help!!!! I want to show the invoices with commissions whether they have a commission payment or not. But it's pretty hard to find a new host with search engines, because they normally give you those crappy affiliate driven reviews sites. Which host would you use for: Small personal websites with small traffic. Medium to large websites/applications with medium to large traffic. What host would you use for your assets (large images, media, etc...). Favorite dedicated/vps host.

  • I'm not sure if I should use a redirect

    Hi there, I have an affiliate link on my webpage. When you click on the link it follows the href value which is as follows: www.site_name.com/?refer=my_affiliate_id This would be fine, except that the site offers no tracking for the ads, so I can't tell how many clicks I am getting. I could easily implement my own tracking by changing the original link href value to a php script which increments some click stats in a database and then redirects the user to the original page. But I have read some articles that say that using redirects may be seen by google as a sign of 'blackhat' techniques and they might rank me lower, unindex my site or even hurt the site that I'm redirecting too. Does anybody know if this is true, or have any idea of the best way I could go about this? Many thanks in advance Joe

  • Question about finding third party website APIs.

    I have a client that works with several well established 3rd party sites to sell his product (in this case hotel rooms, but the question is more general). Every time he gets a reservation he has to go to each site and manually make changes. I've done a quick search to see if there are APIs or any developer resources for these sites but have come up with nothing. I've emailed his contacts for each site but have yet to receive a response. I don't have a lot of experience working with third party sites like this but in the past when I've looked for APIs I usually come up empty handed. Are these types of APIs rare or am I just looking in the wrong places? It seems like an obvious thing to have for a company that has an affiliate program. Any suggestions on where to look for APIs or am I at the mercy of my "contact"?
