  • minecraft wont take keyboard input

    After upgrading to 13.10 FTB(minecraft) wont take keyboard input after login in. I can click the buttons but it will not let me type in a address on multiplayer, or copy/paste with mouse. Since upgrading I cannot run the other mod packs either, only the one I had installed from 13.04.   • {solved}stream TV audio through mic input?

    I have a gaming headset and use it with a few devices and am looking for a way to stream my audio through my pc from tv through the mic jack and then through the optical out. the system is detecting sound from the mic port. I would put this directly through the headset but that port is being used by my ps3. So I would like a way as I said to stream it through my pc to my headset, and it be great to have an integrated volume option in the sound drop down too. [TV - mic - Ubuntu - headset(optical out)] Ubuntu 13.04 EDIT I found part of a solution. Solution by installing pavucontrol and using "pactl load-module module-loopback latency_msec=1" I can stream the audio through my pc.

  • How to handle gender and sexual orientation on a form with select boxes more inclusively?

    The existing question and the answers for it are not satisfying when one wants to be more inclusive. Gender as Male, Female or No Answer works for some sites, but not others. Taking the view that Gender is not the same as Sex (assigned at birth based on bodily characteristics). Would it be more inclusive to include these two options: Transgender Male, Transgender Female? So instead would more inclusive options be the following? Gender Identity Male Female Transgender Male Transgender Female No Answer Sexual Orientation Straight Lesbian Gay Bisexual Asexual No Answer Gender Expression could also be included, but I think most people would find that too confusing (defined on GLAAD's website linked below) I'm going off what I've read on GLAAD's Transgender Glossary of Terms.   • Aser Aspire 3690 WIreless Not working, new Ubuntu user

    I don't know that much about Ubuntu, but I put it on an Acer Aspire 3690 Laptop (replaced Win Vista). Everything seems to work fine, but the wireless connection. It says "FIRMWARE MISSING". It detects that I have a wireless card, so I don't know what to do. I've already used the "ADDITIONAL DRIVERS" thing, and that didn't work. I've googled and have not found anything helpful. I don't really know what I'm doing, so can your directions please be kindergarden level? Thank you very much for any help you can provide. I really appreciate it.

  • Disk failure is imminent Laptop Hard drive ~5 months old

    There's another post about this, but I don't have enough 'points' to say anything on that thread. So I'll start my own ... with more details! My computer still boots, but gnome domain reports problems with HDD smart. This has been confirmed in the bios as it makes me press f1 to boot up now. I tried running HDD disk check in the bios, but it fails running the tests. As in, running the tests failed not that the tests themselves indicated a failed drive.   • Setting a display's backlight brightness to be lower than is possible via the normal brightness controls

    By normal brightness controls I mean the accelerators on my laptop's keyboard that seem to integrate with Unity. In a dark room, my screen is quite bright, even on the lowest setting. Can I override this? I tried setting it explicitly via both: sudo echo 500 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/actual_brightness sudo echo 500 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/actual_brightness But I get a permission denied error. When at the lower bounds via my keyboard's brighness controls, acpi_video0/actual_brightness is 0, and intel_backlight/actual_brightness is 729. Can I set the latter value to be even lower?

  • Should I use the same Google Analytics code for my website and native mobile app?

    My website is a forum. The native mobile app's only function is to access the forum and provide a better experience than can be provided through the browser. Given that the same content is being accessed, should I use the same Google Analytics tracking code? Or should I create a new property and select "Not a website" when it asks for the website? I was not able to find anything that discussed this and what would be best practice, given that the same content is being accessed. Thanks!

  • Help Creating a Google Analytics Funnel for Check out process

    have a funnel question. I am currently working on tracking (through GA) guest and logged in member activity once they get to my sites shopping cart. But need help with setting up funnels. Specifically to see; Total sales Logged in member total sales List item Guest member sales The urls associated to the check out proces are: Logged in members /cart (arriving to checkout) /checkout (checking out as a logged in member) /checkout/confirmation (thank you - confirmed sale) Guest members - /cart (arriving to checkout) - /checkout-guest (checking out as a guest) - /checkout/confirmation (thanks you - confirmed sale) I've tested the funnels set up for the above with 9 transactions. But the end maths doesn't seem to line up. Total sales funnel shows 9 completed transactions when only tracking these to urls: - /cart - /checkout/confirmation Which is great - cause it's working Logged in member sales show a total of 9 completed transactions based on each step of the logged in url steps (above) being tracked in a funnel. Not good because this number should be 3. Guest check out funnel (see guest steps above) shows 9 as well. What the?!?!?!? The results I am looking for should reflect the following - total sales = 9, logged in members = 3, guest members = 6 Is there any way to set these urls up so that the funnels report the correct results - or do I need to changed the urls and provide logged in members and guest stand alone purchase confirmation pages (this would mean I can not track total sales which combine results from both streams)? Any knowledge in this area is welcome. Thanks.

    Currently going through a process of testing two AdWords ppc providers at the same time from two separate AdWords accounts. However they will require access to my GA account for linking and ecommerce tracking. Which means that they will be able to see each others results. I dont want this; Is it possible to set up GA so that; Company A only sees Adwords results associated to their AdWords management via GA Company B only sees Adwords results associated to their AdWords management via GA And each company never sees the other company's Adwords results? 100 positive karma points to anyone who can shed some light on this.     So I tried to install wine 1.5 a few times, I got 1.4 installed, and 1.6 installed oddly enough, I completely removed and purged all wine and still nothing. I installed ia32-lib and still nothing, tried installing from synaptic, ubuntu software center, and apt-get method. I get this error from apt-get in the terminal Reading package lists... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: wine1.5 : Depends: wine1.6 but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. I can handle the blatant disregard for the libraries I've used in the past and just using something else. I can even handle the functions with 25 parameters.     What I want is to have an options menu where the user can choose to navigate the menu between: 1) touching a button and then pressing down on the trackball to select it, and 2) drawing predefined gestures from Gestures Builder As it stands now, I have created my buttons with OnClickListener and the gestures with GestureOverlayView. Then I select starting a new Activity depending on whether the using pressed a button or executed a gesture. However, when I attempt to draw a gesture, it is not picked up. Only pressing the buttons is recognized.     We have a desktop in a room where the is no wired connection that has bad reception from the wireless AP. Someone (I don't remember who of course) told me there are high gain antennas that will make it possible to get a better reception (and throughput). I believe he said they are adaptors with "high gain" antennas. He also told me he uses it in hotels when he has a bad WLAN reception. When he connects that card the reception and speed is a lot better all of a sudden. But can someone explain me in understandable language what that is and what the thing with high gain, dB, dBi and mW is all about please? What type of card do we need? On like this or this?

  • Perfomance of 8 bit operations on 64 bit architechture

    I am usually a Python / Database programmer, and I am considering using C for a problem. I have a set of sequences, 8 characters long with 4 possible characters. My problem involves combining sets of these sequences and filtering which sets match a criteria. The combinations of 5 run into billions of rows and takes around an hour to run. So I can represent each sequence as 2 bytes. If I am working on a 64 bit architechture will I gain any advantage by keeping these data structures as 2 bytes when I generate the combinations, or will I be as well storing them as 8 bytes / double ? (64 bit = 8 x 8) If I am on a 64 bit architecture, all registers will be 64 bit, so in terms of operations that shouldn´t be any faster (please correct me if I am wrong). Will I gain anything from the smaller storage requirements - can I fit more combinations in memory, or will they all take up 64 bits anyway? And finally, am I likley to gain anything coding in C. I have a first version, which stores the sequence as a small int in a MySQL database. It then self joins the tabe to itself a number of times in order to generate all the possible combinations. The performance is acceptable, depending on how many combinations are generated. I assume the database must involve some overhead.

    I'm running a CloudFormation template in the AWS Console. Running Stack Directly I started with a template that used IAM resources, and the console prompts me to acknowledge IAM capabilities when running the stack directly. Running Stack as a child I then tried to call the same stack from a parent stack and did not receive the same prompt. The stack then failed with the message: Requires capabilities : [CAPABILITY_IAM] Research The docs indicate that I can run CF scripts in a number of ways. There's plenty of docs around CLI/API and supplying the capability parameter, but there appears to be no information about how to make sure it's applied when running through the console. http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSCloudFormation/latest/UserGuide/using-iam-template.html IAM Resources in AWS CloudFormation Templates CF Console CLI API What I've done / What I think I've raised an issue via the forum for now, but no response (yet): https://forums.aws.amazon.com/thread.jspa?threadID=139160 I suspect this is a bug in the Console, as there doesn't appear to be any documentation of how to change the behaviour via the console and as far as I'm aware this should just work. Anyone came across the same problem, or can report that it's working fine for them?

  • Can I disable chrome's auto translate function for visitors to a given page on my site?

    I know how to disable this feature for pages that I visit, but what I'm looking for is a way to tell other user's Chrome browsers not to offer translation a particular page on my site. Is there some kind of meta tag I can use? Alternatively, can I indicate that a particular element on the page should not be translated? Reason: The controls which slide down from the top of the page cause my page to resize, which changes the content, which makes the control slide up, which resizes the page, which changes the content, which causes the controls to slide back in. Rinse and repeat. The page dances. The page itself is a map, and the content it wants to translate are all proper names and shouldn't be translated anyway. If alternate names exist in other languages, I provide them myself. Generally I'm against taking away features from the browser that users might like, but in this case it really makes sense. So please don't answer saying that I shouldn't be doing this. I've weighed up the options.
