how powerful is Bluetooth programming on Android? is it possible to add new protocols and encryption techniques? or even change in the current protocols? does it support bluetooth 2.1+EDR?
I'm currently investigating what the runtime of different programming languages looks like behind the scenes. For a compiled language like C, people usually give the explanation of "Code is compiled to assembly which is assembled and linked into a binary executable. The executable is then loaded into memory and the CPU interprets it." My question is how does the CPU know where to look for the next instruction to execute? Is it a memory address stored in one of the registers?
Hey guys
I'm very new to the whole programming - so far I only have experience with building websites, database etc.
I currently have a website where users can share their online purchases.
I want to build a widget that other websites can integrate on their site. Users should be able to insert their purchases directly through this widget without having to come to my website.
Thats the idea but I have no idea how to go about it - can anyone point me in the right direction.
Thanks
How can i make sure my file serving is reliable and scalable? How many parallel request it can handle?
I am thinking beyond the hardware capability and band width.
i am following http://stackoverflow.com/questions/55709/streaming-large-files-in-a-java-servlet
I'm looking for a complete list of security guidelines for programming and deploying PHP web sites and applications on an Apache (Linux) server. Basically, a "security check list" to run through before finishing a project. I.e.,
Cross Site Scripting
Cross Site Request Forgery
Sanitize form data that goes into database
Disable register globals and error reporting in custom php.ini
Upload files below web root
...(the list goes on)
I did some searching on the internet and in this forum, but couldn't find a comprehensive, succinct, and complete list of guidelines.
Thanks in advance.
I'm reading this article about Comet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_(programming). It mentions that browser should support multipart/x-mixed-replace to make XmlHttpRequest Streaming possible.
Why this multipart/x-mixed-replace is necessary?
Without this header, HTTP response can still be chunked and sent piece by piece to browser, right?
I'm using the ARM7TDMI-S (NXP processor) and I need a file system capable of reading/writing to an SD card. There are so many available, what have people used and been happy with? One that requires the least amount of setup is best - so the less I have to do to get it started (i.e. write device drivers to NXP's hardware) the better.
I'm looking for a good example of reading and writing to the Windows Registry using VB6.
Yes, I know there are lots of mediocre examples. I spent an hour googling and testing. Some were incredibly complex, others had only some of the functions, and almost none of it had been vetted in any way (voted on).
Since Stack Overflow is intended to the canonical location for answers to programming questions, it seems reasonable to post it here.
Ever since I started programming this has been something I have been curious about. But seems too complicated for me to even attempt.
I'd love to see a solution.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 // returns 6 (n + 1)
10, 20, 30, 40, 50 //returns 60 (n + 10)
10, 17, 31, 59, 115 //returns 227 ((n * 2) - 3)
Hey guys,
We're getting a QA for the first time in our project. We're not sure how to best use him.
We work in an Agile environment. Pair programming, user stories, short sprints (two weeks), daily stand-ups, retrospectives, planning meetings, quick releases etc.
One obviously way to use a tester is to verify bugs fixes and user stories every sprint. Are there any better ways for an Agile team to utilize a tester.
Thanks,
Sri
I don't want to take the time to learn Obj-C. I've spent 7+ years doing web application programming. Shouldn't there be a way to use the WebView and just write the whole app in javascript, pulling the files right from the resources of the project?
What is going on?
Is this a result of a programming class assignment or someting?
Find the list at Wikipedia (older revision, somone removed them as non-notable)

I wrote a program to compile a simple text program to a compiled executable... Is it possible that I can load an executable to memory an some how point a pc counter to the memory space at will?
Here is what I made that I would like to store the programs to memory for execution on demand... Kind of wanting to make a little web language like php but compile it... Just for learning.

I have an activity with two edittext controls. I am calling the requestFocus on the second edittext field since by default the focus goes to the first edittext control. The focus appears to be in the second edittext field (the second one gets the highlighted border), but if we try to enter any characters using the hardware keyboard the text appears in the first edittext control. Any ideas why it would be happening?
I have installed xcode 3.2 with iphone SDK. (without Mac OS 10.4 SDK). WHen i create new project i only got these options for Mac OS

But a book named: Programming Object C 2.0. From which i am learning object C. Its showing XCode with these templates for Mac OS
--Application
--Audio Units
--Automater actions
--Bundles
--Command Line Utility
--dynamic library

--Java
--Kernal Extensions
--Standard Apple plugin

I need the Command Line Utility template so that can create sample projects mentioned in book.
hi guys ,
I am new to iphone Programming . I have a rectangle on which i display some data. I want to assign an image to its background. And is it possible that the data would be visible even after the image is assigned . Any idea how i can do it ?

Hi,
I understand that it's not a programming question, but still maybe someone here knows how comes that www.ipage.com is offering $115.00 to affiliates for every new customer ( that would buy, say, a $36 hosting plan ) ? Where's the catch?
Hi all,
I've been programming in Java for a few courses in the University and I have the following question:
Is it methodologically accepted that every class should implement an interface? Is it considered bad practice not to do so? Can you describe a situation where it's not a good idea to use interfaces?
Thanks.
Is it practically possible to create a triangle of stars like this as below in SQL.I know that this could be done easily in any other programming language like C,C++,Java but want to know whether it is really possible with just SQL or PL/SQL.I tried working on it with dual table in Oracle but couldn't get through it.

Can someone please shed somelight if anyone knows about it.
Using Java, you can get the list of ISO2 codes through Locale.getISOCountries() (see this related question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/712231/best-way-to-get-a-list-of-countries-in-java).
However, I would like to have the list of all country names (in English for example) and not the list of ISO2 country codes. How can I do that by programming in Java or Groovy ?
Thank you very much,
Fabien.
Not a technical question, but related to IT.
At the moment I work in the open plan office and the guy next to me is talking to himself
while programming. It annoys my collegue and me so much that we are putting the earphones on with music volume set to max.
Does anyone know good and polite solution to shut him up?
Recently I did a Java programming exercise successfully which was sent by a recruiting firm, The problem statement goes like this 'There are two text files FI(records abt files and directory information) and FS(containing blocks of data) which represent a file Index and file System respectively and I was supposed to write a static read method in a class which will read the file from the FS depending upon the path string provided using FI' My question is where can I get these kind of exercises to solve, the complexity should be above average to tough.
I'm on my way to programming a database application and in our course we are told to implement a library of elements using one of the Java Collections. Each of the elements has a unique ID with which it's supposed to be addressed. Now I am wondering how this can be done.
I though about using a ListArray but this won't work because the only way of addressing List elements is through the index which you can't control.
Do you have some advice for me?
I am trying to write a pre-qualification programming exam, hopefully using Google Forms... however they seem to be unable to do new-lines in both the questions and the section headers...
My current format is new page for each question, with a "section header" as the main question (because it has a textarea for the "code snippet") and a "multiple choice question" as the ummm... question answer...
Help much appreciated...
What are the best practices for using Java's @Override annotation and why?
It seems like it would be overkill to mark every single overridden method with the @Override annotation. Are there certain programming situations that call for using the @Override and others that should never use the @Override?
